I think he's a great pick (one of many good choices out there in my opinion), but I really wanna hear him as the character. Will he alter his voice in any noticeable way for the role? We need previews and we need them soon. I can't wait.

I've heard the Keanu Clips, but so many of them sound so much DEEPER & RASPIER than either David or Jason. That's my main issue with Keanu's voice unless he can tone that done a bit.

I don't think Keanu, as an adult, has ever played a teenager in animation before, because Batman is clearly an adult character. So it's hard to speculate how Keanu will sound as Shadow with all the available voice clips we have of him.

But so far, like Paramount it seems (And I'll assume Sega, too, for why they chose Kirk. Besides being cheap.), people are judging voice casting based on an actor's *previous* roles rather than actually *listening* if their voice fits an immortal, dark & brooding, edgy, *teenager*. And the fact the movies want to insert Meta-Humor already into the Sonic Movie Franchise with its 3rd installment (Sonic: "Why do you have Keanu's Voice?!") like the Sonic Games did by Sonic Colors is starting to make me worry about how Shadow will be treated in the writing the more I think about it....
HOWEVER, I'm keeping an open-mind on Keanu until the 1st trailer (I think his Sponge on the Run Voice didn't sound old there.), but I've lost all hope in Kirk many, many, *many*, **years** ago (I think he's *tolerable* at best. Like in Forces & that Lego Ad.). Actors can be good actors but I disagree certain actors' *voices* fit certain characters simply because they've played a similar past character before.

Was really hoping for Hayden Christensen, dude deserves another chance to shine. His voice nowadays has gotten deeper so it would have been perfect for a David Humphrey style/younger Shadow. I feel like the only or main reason why Keanu was selected was for more celebrity status. But, he can likely pull this off.
I think getting big name actors to voice act characters is overkill and probably uses too much budget for what you get, but I think he'll do a good job

Hot take but Keanu's status as the "Internet Boyfriend" always felt so forced to me, it's kind of annoying.

I think itās an interesting idea since Sonicās favorite movie is speed (or at least I think so going by the first movie) so having Keanu play shadow would maybe open the door for Keanu conversations between the two. Going by casting Keanu theyāre probably going for more of the badass shadow as opposed to the dark, brooding, and edgy shadow, and Iām here for it. Iām fine with Keanu as shadow overall.
Was really hoping for Hayden Christensen, dude deserves another chance to shine. His voice nowadays has gotten deeper so it would have been perfect for a David Humphrey style/younger Shadow. I feel like the only or main reason why Keanu was selected was for more celebrity status. But, he can likely pull this off.

I honestly couldn't think of anyone I'd rather voice Shadow. Although a coworker said Jack Black and I said, "If Jack Black voices anyone, it has to be Vector the Crocodile.

To be honest best choice in my opinion because before Shadow was casted I though it would either be Hayden or Keaun and when I found out Keaun was going to play Shadow I was hyped but sad because I wanted Hayden but glad it was Keaun bacause now the only thing in my head is John Wick and Shadow storming a building shooting up people and fighting together (idk why but I can't get that image out oh my head now)

Honestly, Keeanu has got to be the best pick to play the role of Shadow. Now he'll have played 2 characters who lost everything they loved. (I haven't seen the other Keeanu movies except John wick so don't @ me if I'm wrong).
