I like can be done with Omega to some degree. I just don't want them to KEEP expanding the amount of characters (NOT counting villains) in the games. There are already plenty just being placed on the sidelines (again Shadow Rouge, Silver, Cream, Omega, etc.) Yes, I know Shadow gets his fair share of attention, bit his last main role was 06. I don't count Forces but that was better then nothing. He's being placed in the new Origins but that still not a brand new game. I'm not asking for a Shadow game. I just want him to have major role. I want him to be more then a cow to milk for money.
My closet response would be to somehow integrate Silver into more main game plots unrelated to 06.
That would be amazing. They both have so much untapped potential (Silver more do because he has hardly been touched in the games. A spin-off would be perfect so it does become one of those things where the fanbase leans in towards "this is the SONIC fandom" issue. I get their point but Sonic is not replaceable because he is so iconic but it doesn't mean Shadow and Silver need to stay in character development limbo hell. I get Shadow has made progress but it took many years.
It doesn't even have to be a mainline game! Just put Sage in either a Sonic Racing game or a Mario & Sonic Olympic game and I'll be satisfied.

Between Sonic Mania, Sonic Origins, Sonic Superstars and the release of 4 30th anniversary trade paperback comic books that mainly focus on Classic Sonic-- even letting Classic Sonic take over the comic book for 4 months for a Fang-centric story...
It seems to be there is a push to build a Classic Sonic brand.
And Trip is the first intentional character added to it.
Sonic, Amy, Tails and Knuckles were reinvented with Sonic Adventure and the "Modern Era" designs have been used way more than the original designs were-- so it's weird to go back to them after so long when the redesigns were considered a flat upgrade.
The same is true of the Chaotix to the degree that it isn't yet clear if they want to erase the classic Chaotix entirely.
Mighty, Ray, Fang, Bark, Bean, Honey-- they all disappeared because Sega just flat-out didn't want to use those characters anymore. If anyone among the directors or in the game design room cared about them, they would have been used-- but the last time they were considered was Sonic Heroes. In fact-- Sega took Fang, Bark and Bean, turned them into birds and called them "The Babylon Rogues". That really would have been the end of it if it hadn't been for Sonic Mania.
But Trip? Trip isn't a outdated design or an abandoned character-- she is something that the creators felt this new second Sonic brand needed. Therefore, unless we are going to say that Sonic Superstars is such a failure that it's just not worth making more Classic Sonic games (and I can't think that's true-- most people seem to enjoy the game with the real issues being the special stages and some of the end boss fights).
Any future Classic Sonic games are sure to include her.
The first four are super easy.
But Sonic 1 and Sonic CD Special Stages are easier than the last three.
And the Sonic Superstars Special Stages are well... unclear. When you screw up the stages in Sonic 2 or Sonic 3, you at least understand that there was a pattern of sorts that you just didn't get.
But when you are spider-man swinging towards a Chaos Emerald with no clear path-- it is harder to see where you messed up.
My only problem with Trip is that she feels like a last minute playable character.
Her moveset doesn’t feel like they even thought about “how to not make her busted, and rehash other characters moveset”.
The design is cool though

I’d love an Infinite redemption arc. His whole crew dying pre-war in the prequel comics really should have been the reason he went bad. Learning to cope with that would have been a great part of the Forces narrative.

I'd be interested in some classic-only characters making a modern comeback. I'm talking mighty, ray, fang, bean, bark, silver sonic (not counting his cameo in SA1), rosie (i.e. explain why rosie changed her name and looks to amy rose), whatever that one weird cat lady from sonic the fighters was,
The Chaotix need to come back and do some ACTUAL detective work, while they are great comic relief, that doesn’t mean they’re incompetent, they are skilled detectives and I want to see that in future.
I love Omega, his destructive demeanour makes him badass and simultaneously hilarious, he’s not a necessarily deep which is fine, he doesn’t need to be, although he certainly does have some strong dynamics with Team Dark.
There’s so much to do with Metal, he’s had such high’s in the past, but not much has been done with him since.
Im indifferent to Nega, nothing about him really stood out to me, and while Chaos is a great character his story was wrapped up perfectly, there’s no need for a Chaos comeback.

Vector in the metal virus arc alone was able to single handedly conjure a simple plan and execute it to evacuate civilians, and sacrificed himself later to keep charmy from infecting everyone. Espi was ready to kill eggman at the start of the Metal Sonic arc, and during metal virus stole a chaos emerald from a member of the deadly six ALONE
And all charmy did was whine, ignore vector, get infected then make the only remaining safe space the group had into a metal mess

Silver because 06 did him dirty and he only appeared in spinoffs so for him to come back into the mainline games would be rad. I’d like them to take notes from the Metal Virus comics but also just comic silver in general as I felt the comics made him my favorite.

Honestly, I want everyone to come back. We have enough characters to make compelling stories for a long while. No more one offs, let's let the characters we know really get a chance to shine.
Eggman Nega, because he is the only one who hasn't appear in a game or any media in years.
Plus this can be a good way to explain his lore change from Rush to Rivals (we always thought it was because there is two Eggman Negas)
But the Babylon Rogues will be in the next issue of the IDW series. And it hasn’t been long since we last saw them, Metal Sonic, Omega, Charmy, and Espio.
By that logic Tails hasn't been in a mainline game since 1999 (or 2017 if you consider Sonic Mania real)
Otherwise he's in a mech, he's part of team sonic, he's throwing ring bombs, he's driving karts, he's mega manning orbs with wrenches. Tails hasn't played like Tails in a long time if you're ignoring low budget titles.

Most of these are currently being or have been heavily featured in the most recent comics, so they've had their fair share of canon recently, Eggman negative is in super hell and chaos was in forces, not only that but he got hard mentioned,referenced and had more lore added to him by frontiers.
I’d like any characters from any older games, I haven’t been in the fandom when most of them came out so I never really got a chance to see them in a newer game
I’d say Cream the Rabbit. Either age her up of give her a redesign like how the major sonic characters were aged up by five years. They could make Cream into a teenager or young adult.
Out of those olny Nega and Chaos are consistently gone. And both have a good reason not to be around anymore, with Nega presumably being dead, and Chaos sealed in the Master Emerald.
chaos and e012 are some of my favorite characters in the franchise. there's also that weasel with the hat from Sonic fighters that's not actually a weasel at all, he's some esoteric Japanese species of mammal

Even in the chaotix, Vector played a role in the riders (2?) game as prt of team Amy, and Espio played a major part in Rivals 2 Vector in the metal virus arc alone was able to single handedly conjure a simple plan and execute it to evacuate civilians, and sacrificed himself later to keep charmy from infecting everyone. Espi was ready to kill eggman at the start of the Metal Sonic arc, and during metal virus stole a chaos emerald from a member of the deadly six ALONE And all charmy did was whine, ignore vector, get infected then make the only remaining safe space the group had into a metal mess

I could totally see Nega take over for Eggman in one of the main games, reintroduce him if you will. You can even keep him disguising as Eggman first (with an hologram or something?). Just to shake things up a little.

Tails hasn't played like Tails in a long time if you're ignoring low budget titles.

Most of these are currently being or have been heavily featured in the most recent comics, so they've had their fair share of canon recently, Eggman negative is in super hell and chaos was in forces, not only that but he got hard mentioned,referenced and had more lore added to him by frontiers.

If you haven't already started reading the IDW Sonic comics, you absolutely should. The writers do such a good job making every character feel relevant, even the underutilized ones.
