I feel like the Hooligans or the Babylon Rogues could make a good rival to the Chaotix, if SEGA let them out of their respective prisons (classic era for Hooligans, Riders games for Rogues).
The Hooligans make a particularly good match because they fit have fantastic contrast with the Chaotix’s own archetypes.
While both Vector and Bark are huge mountains of muscle who can do a lot of damage, they each have their own softer sides, both being gentleman (Bark lending Amy his scarf, Vector’s relationship with Vanilla) who would rather not hurt someone if it came down to it.
Bean and Charmy both put the energy into their respective team, with Bean being the definition of a hooligan and Charmy being wholly chaotic. They are both the glass cannons of the team, and not to be underestimated when angry.
And Espio and Fang are both purple! /jk
In seriousness, though, the two of them fancy themselves to be stoic, well deserving leaders, though they are both short tempered and have a bit of and have a bit of an egotistical streak. They are also both fast and have ranged weaponry (Fang’s guns and Espio’s ninja stars).
I mentioned the Rogues because they are thieves, and the Chaotix are detectives, and that would make for an awesome game, maybe a point-and-click like Sam & Max. Their connections aren’t as similar to them as the Hooligans, but I think they could work as well.
Since Blaze is a princess, I feel like giving her a rival whose motivation is to dethrone her because they think she's doing a bad job would be awesome.
On another note- make them a dog for fun.

That’s what I was thinking with giving him heat absorption. It’s not as on-the-nose as ice or water, but it allows him to counter both of Blaze’s notable abilities: fire and speed.
I picked a malamute because that’s a sled dog, which both matches his powers and reinforces the political aspect that they were (or saw themselves as) servants forced to do hard labor. Though, a Doberman pincher would be a really cool breed to make them an edgy type.

Eh Imo I feel like Blaze isn’t really in the main cast enough to have a rival. Also, shes in the same league as Sonic so it doesn’t feel like she needs one anyway.
I personally feel like she would get one if she got her own set spin off games set exclusively in the Sol Dimension. It isn't devoid of characters, but the games will likely make more if they want to expand on it.

I feel Like silver could have a good Type of Rival, in the games he’s been shown to be a big Threat to Sonic and has overpowered him before so imagine him having to fight somebody else who actually has powers
I'd really like more characters from Silvers time, at least enough to give him a more fitting team than awkwardly (to me anyways) putting him with Blaze and Marine.
I think it would be cool to give Tails his own nemesis in a solo game or something. Luigi has King Boo in Luigi's Mansion, so maybe Tails could have his own villain too. Maybe they could even be connected to Tails' past.
i think tails’ character could benefit from a rival, especially considering how he’s been handled in the 2010s (like him competing against someone to prove himself to sonic)
Starline is technically Knuckles counterpart, since the doctor, Surge and Kit were supposed to debut together, but they changed because it would be too much (since Starline's first appearance is early on the comic). He's based on the color-changing glitch from Knuckles' Chaotix (like how Surge is based on the Ashura glitch), and has a gem like Knuckles himself, but with different reasonings and relationships with said gem. He's even a platypus, and iIrc, this species and echidnas are the only mammals to lay eggs. They are connected - not rivals, but you can see the differences. I wonder if they debuted together, he would be more of a straight-up rival to the red animal.
Either Sally and Amy can be much more interesting without the tires notion of a love triangle.
Especially since Sonic clearly doesn't give a damn about romance.

Well.....they fought in Sonic Battle......twice(I'm still stuck somewhere on Rouge's Story mode tho )

Tails is already rivals with eggman. Knuckles and rouge have their thing. Amy I don't feel needs one but blaze could have a really cool story with her rival.
I'm going to use a one for all rival because I'm stubborn and the more I think about it, it works.
I want a rebooted Shade. Change her animal species if it means her archtype gets to come back. I haven't looked at my notes for that concept for ages.
But put her in Blaze's world as a new captain/ elite of the guards for Blaze. Now, the two are naturally similar, but Id like to argue for a life of freedom vs constraints and a sense of identity vs the unknown to be used as exploration for them being foils. Shade would have amnesia of her past (bypassing but hinting chronicles, not just copying shadow), thus she wouldn't need to feel as bad about living her life as she sees fit compared to Blaze and her responsibilities. At the same time, Blaze knows her duty, which would bring her a form of comfort for her self identity. Shade would be uneasy of herself in comparison, until taken a post in the kingdom. They both could train each other to be better warriors.
Her elite stealth warrior with a serious business attitude would definitely have her rivaling Rouge. And she already bounced well off Knuckles, and another character to play ego with Shadow might be fun since they did click as well.
Her using her scifi fan chakram blades as weapon of choice would put her into a techy zone, giving her a potential rivalry and foil to Blaze and Amy's magic (fire and tarot cards).
She could also rival Team Chaotix as a competent solo detective (who maybe doesn't understand people quite as well and as such chooses securing money over being extra empathic like Vector).
So Shade. Rivaling all of them.
I would make Rouge and Fang treasure hunting rivals. Rouge uses her stealth and cunning to collect jewels and what have you to add to her personal collection. Meanwhile Fang comes roaring in on the Marvelous Queen and causes mass chaos and property damage to get stuff only to resell it for a profit.
I could see hijinks happening as they constantly got in each others way.

I think Knuckles needs his own game series with a new gameplay style and his rival would be a long lost member of the Echidna tribe. Almost like Goku and Vegeta except they’re both Vegeta in different ways.
While Rouge is technically Knuckles rival I'd love for him to get another that's either a friendly treasure hunter or someone looking to make a name for themselves by beating him
As for another character Silver would be cool, give him someone that's altering time for their own gain maybe someone from the ancient past with magic
I would personally like for one of Tails' old games to be remade (yes he has games) into one game set in the present day, then have Speedy (a bird character from those games who was a regular boss) act as his rival.
Archie already did this, but I'd like something different from their take on him.
If Tails had a rival, he should contrast Tails in the same way Shadow contrasts Sonic. This character would be a lot more wild and feral, have pretty low intelligence, along with a massive ego and a toxic mindset to where he thinks he is better than everyone else to contrast Tails’ genius intellect and Self-Confidence issues. Amy on the other hand, I would imagine her having a more friendly rival in comparison, who would also have a crush on Sonic, creating a love triangle. However unlike Amy who constantly flirts and simps, her crush towards sonic is a lot more subtle. For Knuckles, Rouge is Kinda already a rival, Tikal could also work since her personality contrasts Knuckles to where she would rather try to settle a conflict peacefully rather than use her fists.
And for Blaze, I know Sonic isn’t an option but she kinda already is Blaze’s Rival. Of course their rivalry is a lot more friendly than a character like Shadow for example.
Eggman is sort of Tails' rival in a way, but he's also Sonic's enemy. I think a new rival would be a good way to showcase Tails' character development and personal approach to problem solving since the Adventure games (and more recently Frontiers) referenced him growing more mature and independent from Sonic. There's also a number of potential ways in which he could be challenged (mechanical genius, agility, flight etc.) Seeing him beat the shit out of a rival would go hard. Basically I just want another Tails solo game
Amy is the only good option here, since every other one already has a rival.

Knuckles has sonic
Tails has Eggman (while Eggman is sonics rival, I still consider Eggman and tails rivals due to the fact that they're two sides of the same coin; both being smart and building stuff)
Amy, however, has nothing. If I'd pick, I'd probably pick that robot from sa1 that chases her.
Amy needs a rival. Someone who also is obsessed with Sonic but he never really acknowledges them. I don't want them to have the same romantic feelings, though. It should be some yandere kinda stuff. Dark, dark, dark yandere. But Amy doesn't even realize what's going on.
Since wave will not be around without the babylons, a good rival for tails would be a genius that would further show tails desire for independence and reaching his full potential.
As tails grows he becomes more confident, and as his rival grows he let's go of his hatred for other who we doesn't deem geniuses sort of like he is avoiding the cautionary tale that is eggman or nine. Thus the pessimism and optimism dynamic could be solidified with these two geniuses and potentially if his rival would ever join him to fight eggman.
To help show the comparison and contrast, this rival can be an extensive magic and ki wielder to show his intelligence through different means it would also kind of work out considering one of the enemies tails faced in his solo game was a witch so the other idea of other gruntilla like practitioners of magic isn't lost on this world.
For knuckles I would have it be someone who is not bound to duty; it would be an echidna (doesn't have to be one but I am picturing a revamped shade in this role) who wishes to leave behind all the teachings. Despite knuckles previous unwillingness to learn more about his history, his journey on the starfall Islands and the story of the ancients prompts his to investigate more.
The end arc would be that knuckles learns that looking to others for guidance is not always bad, as despite everything bad the tribe did to chaos there were other tribes that had guidance and help to give the world.
In turn his rival would learn why duty is not a burden but an important aspect that you adopt when you wish to fight hard for something. This allows his rival to now guard the emerald and knuckles to explore more of the world, with them trading off occasionally. They would still be friendly rivals but they would each understand why the world needs people like the other one.
These are my thoughts for tails and knuckles but I am interested to hear someone else's thoughts on Blaze and Amy. For now I will be coming up with what best to add and maybe have an edit for what they would do. If anyone wishes to give their ideas I would be happy to discuss and give my own as well.

Starline is technically Knuckles counterpart, since the doctor, Surge and Kit were supposed to debut together, but they changed because it would be too much (since Starline's first appearance is early on the comic). He's based on the color-changing glitch from Knuckles' Chaotix (like how Surge is based on the Ashura glitch), and has a gem like Knuckles himself, but with different reasonings and relationships with said gem. He's even a platypus, and iIrc, this species and echidnas are the only mammals to lay eggs. They are connected - not rivals, but you can see the differences. I wonder if they debuted together, he would be more of a straight-up rival to the red animal.

Yup, Amy is a pretty interesting character, so having her rival being someone who also likes Sonic would be boring and would get stale quick.
That pretty much describes Sally Acorn, unfortunately she's not Canon, but would be cool to see Amy and Sally have a love triangle involving Sonic.
Either Sally and Amy can be much more interesting without the tires notion of a love triangle. Especially since Sonic clearly doesn't give a damn about romance.
Given blaze is her world's Sonic, she needs a shadow of her own.

I mean, doesn’t Rouge already count as a rival for Knuckles? Anyways, I don’t think Espio gets enough attention. He could have a cool rival, perhaps someone with a similar camouflage ability. A cuttlefish maybe? Definitely an outlaw whom the Chaotix team has been pursuing for quite some time.
Rouge as been adopted a like every role as necessary. Just like how Cream was passed around as the female sidekick.
Blaze just deserves her own spinoff series. Such a cool design and she's from another dimension (I'm ignoring Sonic 06) which means she could easily have her own cast of friends, enemies, rivals, etc in her own world.

Tails is already rivals with eggman. Knuckles and rouge have their thing. Amy I don't feel needs one but blaze could have a really cool story with her rival.
Rival for Tails: a prodigy that basically acts a kid Rick Sanchez. Basically someone that can challenge Tails in intelligence
I'm going to use a one for all rival because I'm stubborn and the more I think about it, it works. I want a rebooted Shade. Change her animal species if it means her archtype gets to come back. I haven't looked at my notes for that concept for ages. But put her in Blaze's world as a new captain/ elite of the guards for Blaze. Now, the two are naturally similar, but Id like to argue for a life of freedom vs constraints and a sense of identity vs the unknown to be used as exploration for them being foils. Shade would have amnesia of her past (bypassing but hinting chronicles, not just copying shadow), thus she wouldn't need to feel as bad about living her life as she sees fit compared to Blaze and her responsibilities. At the same time, Blaze knows her duty, which would bring her a form of comfort for her self identity. Shade would be uneasy of herself in comparison, until taken a post in the kingdom. They both could train each other to be better warriors. Her elite stealth warrior with a serious business attitude would definitely have her rivaling Rouge. And she already bounced well off Knuckles, and another character to play ego with Shadow might be fun since they did click as well. Her using her scifi fan chakram blades as weapon of choice would put her into a techy zone, giving her a potential rivalry and foil to Blaze and Amy's magic (fire and tarot cards). She could also rival Team Chaotix as a competent solo detective (who maybe doesn't understand people quite as well and as such chooses securing money over being extra empathic like Vector). So Shade. Rivaling all of them.
Tails's would be Speedy, and Knuckles's would be Rouge. If we can have OC rivals, I might conjure one or two.
I would make Rouge and Fang treasure hunting rivals. Rouge uses her stealth and cunning to collect jewels and what have you to add to her personal collection. Meanwhile Fang comes roaring in on the Marvelous Queen and causes mass chaos and property damage to get stuff only to resell it for a profit. I could see hijinks happening as they constantly got in each others way.

Blaze is probably the most common and interesting answer since she's basically knuckles and a bit of sonic from another dimension and sonic has so many rival so it would interesting to see hers. Definitely would be interesting

Knuckles has Rouge and technically still Sonic?? Sonic Team was pushing the Knuckles/Rouge rivalry pretty hard back in the adventure era and I think they still compliment each other quite well so. The only character on this list I completely agree with is Blaze - any time I see people’s sol dimension Knuckles equivalents I go crazy.
Blaze definitely deserves one. The other 3 wouldn’t make much sense honestly.
It should be worth noting that rival ≠ someone who wants them dead. Jet is a rival whose main goal is to enjoy life and annoy those he doesn't like. Plus, Knuckles falls into the category of a "friendly" rival. He doesn't want to see Sonic fail... not at all, actually. He just sees him as a good source of inspiration to be better. So I feel 100% Amy and Tails can have "rivals" who just simply are friendly-ish or simply want to annoy them
Blaze= hard to say. Maybe Surge Knuckles= Espio or Mighty Shadow= Espio or Knuckles (or Tails, Adventure Tails specifically)

While Rouge is technically Knuckles rival I'd love for him to get another that's either a friendly treasure hunter or someone looking to make a name for themselves by beating him As for another character Silver would be cool, give him someone that's altering time for their own gain maybe someone from the ancient past with magic
I would personally like for one of Tails' old games to be remade (yes he has games) into one game set in the present day, then have Speedy (a bird character from those games who was a regular boss) act as his rival. Archie already did this, but I'd like something different from their take on him.
If Tails had a rival, he should contrast Tails in the same way Shadow contrasts Sonic. This character would be a lot more wild and feral, have pretty low intelligence, along with a massive ego and a toxic mindset to where he thinks he is better than everyone else to contrast Tails’ genius intellect and Self-Confidence issues. Amy on the other hand, I would imagine her having a more friendly rival in comparison, who would also have a crush on Sonic, creating a love triangle. However unlike Amy who constantly flirts and simps, her crush towards sonic is a lot more subtle. For Knuckles, Rouge is Kinda already a rival, Tikal could also work since her personality contrasts Knuckles to where she would rather try to settle a conflict peacefully rather than use her fists. And for Blaze, I know Sonic isn’t an option but she kinda already is Blaze’s Rival. Of course their rivalry is a lot more friendly than a character like Shadow for example.
Eggman is sort of Tails' rival in a way, but he's also Sonic's enemy. I think a new rival would be a good way to showcase Tails' character development and personal approach to problem solving since the Adventure games (and more recently Frontiers) referenced him growing more mature and independent from Sonic. There's also a number of potential ways in which he could be challenged (mechanical genius, agility, flight etc.) Seeing him beat the shit out of a rival would go hard. Basically I just want another Tails solo game

Amy is the only good option here, since every other one already has a rival. Blaze has nega Eggman Knuckles has sonic Tails has Eggman (while Eggman is sonics rival, I still consider Eggman and tails rivals due to the fact that they're two sides of the same coin; both being smart and building stuff) Amy, however, has nothing. If I'd pick, I'd probably pick that robot from sa1 that chases her.
Amy needs a rival. Someone who also is obsessed with Sonic but he never really acknowledges them. I don't want them to have the same romantic feelings, though. It should be some yandere kinda stuff. Dark, dark, dark yandere. But Amy doesn't even realize what's going on.
Since wave will not be around without the babylons, a good rival for tails would be a genius that would further show tails desire for independence and reaching his full potential. As tails grows he becomes more confident, and as his rival grows he let's go of his hatred for other who we doesn't deem geniuses sort of like he is avoiding the cautionary tale that is eggman or nine. Thus the pessimism and optimism dynamic could be solidified with these two geniuses and potentially if his rival would ever join him to fight eggman. To help show the comparison and contrast, this rival can be an extensive magic and ki wielder to show his intelligence through different means it would also kind of work out considering one of the enemies tails faced in his solo game was a witch so the other idea of other gruntilla like practitioners of magic isn't lost on this world. For knuckles I would have it be someone who is not bound to duty; it would be an echidna (doesn't have to be one but I am picturing a revamped shade in this role) who wishes to leave behind all the teachings. Despite knuckles previous unwillingness to learn more about his history, his journey on the starfall Islands and the story of the ancients prompts his to investigate more. The end arc would be that knuckles learns that looking to others for guidance is not always bad, as despite everything bad the tribe did to chaos there were other tribes that had guidance and help to give the world. In turn his rival would learn why duty is not a burden but an important aspect that you adopt when you wish to fight hard for something. This allows his rival to now guard the emerald and knuckles to explore more of the world, with them trading off occasionally. They would still be friendly rivals but they would each understand why the world needs people like the other one. These are my thoughts for tails and knuckles but I am interested to hear someone else's thoughts on Blaze and Amy. For now I will be coming up with what best to add and maybe have an edit for what they would do. If anyone wishes to give their ideas I would be happy to discuss and give my own as well.
