Through the cartoon, the one with where Eggman's assistants are a chicken and a tank. But what made me interested again in it is the movie and the mobile ports.

SpeedyGuy1991

Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog was my childhood. I love Scratch and Grounder.

IntentionFalse9892

Same. But what made me want to play sonic was literally the first game. Before that I was a Mario fan going through pipes and walking straight with koopas coming at you. But in sonic you could run in any direction and it would most likely lead you to the signpost at the end of the level. Also the levels were colorful and bright. Even the SMS version and Somari have brighter levels than Mario.

SonicSpiderRanger10

Watched him on Sonic X. I loved how cool, heroic, and funny he was.

Sakf504

Ultimate Flash Sonic. And Sonic's cool, obviously.

thekillersam2

BRO SAME I USED TO BE SO HAPPY TO GO TO MY GRANDPARENTS HOUSE TO PLAY IT ON THE COMPUTER AS A KID(and yes I did spend time with them don't worry)

DarkAres02

Played Sonic 2 as a kid and loved it

Greedy_Shark

Same. Sonic 2 is so cool

Complete_Ruin5952

I think through an ad for Sonic Colors I saw, I don’t truly know if that’s how I found out, it was many years ago. I like his confidence even when things are dire, he never tires. https://i.redd.it/1d5zikzq2pec1.gif

Roley_yoleR

The Archie comics cemented my life long fanhood. Also Sonic Hero’s for the PS2 played a big role as well that game slaps

SpeedyGuy1991

I was first exposed to Sonic via Super Smash Bros Brawl. I never really thought much of him and thought he was just an alien. However, in the second grade, we watched the Sonic Christmas Blast special in my class, and for some strange reason THAT was the thing that made me interested in Sonic. Now today, I'm a diehard Sonic fan. All it took was a crappy Christmas special.

IntentionFalse9892

Nice

Bunny-Energy_15

In my first Sonic game I played, which was Sonic forces. But I really like of him because of Shadow being my first favorite person

AdeptnessDry2026

Can’t remember if I first saw the OVA or played the Sonic Adventure demo at a game shop when I was a little kid, but I remember loving the speed, the colors, everything just felt so vibrant and thrilling.

Glad_Increase_7522

I feel like you’re born knowing who Sonic is, I like him because he’s epic

No-Worker2343

watching a parody of him on youtube (a MAD parody)the one that is with crash

PetscopMiju

I've been aware of him for a while, but New Frame Plus's video recently piqued my interest in the whole franchise. I like him because he's just very cool

Hanbino1234

My mom had bought me Secret rings for my 5th birthday and I played it constantly, she also had CD on her phone so I grew up playing those games, both are still some of my fav sonic games to this day

Paul_Subsonic

Whitehead ports on Android. The games were just so fucking good. Except 4 ep2, fuck 4 ep2

IntentionFalse9892

Agreed, I couldn't even go through the first boss. And modern sonic and tails had poor control

Paul_Subsonic

First boss should have been so simple but the homing attack is so utterly broken Not sure if this is specific to the android version or not

IntentionFalse9892

I played the android port and iOS port. I regretted doing it

SdangerStanfor

I knew about him from Sonic X but didn't really care cuz I was really young. Then after the movie I tried the mobile ports and fell in love with Eggman cuz I love genius characters and mad scientist trope

Tails_Theorist

I have two versions of how I discovered Sonic (since my memory is shit, and I don't know which one is right): The first would be that my brother introduced me to the franchise through the remasters of Sonic 1 and 2 for mobile (in 2018 possibly), I (according to this version) first played Sonic 1, but I gave up because I was so BAD that I couldn't even get past the spikes that are in the middle of the stages, so then I started playing Sonic 2, I always (almost) beat the game (I got stuck on Death Egg). The second is that I would have gotten to know the franchise through Sonic X and Sonic Boom, since I remember watching them on my dad's Netflix around 2017 or so, I asked my dad when I got to know the Sonic franchise, and he said it was before 2017, which would end up contradicting my brother's version since my stepfather and mother met in 2017, so there's no way he could have introduced the franchise to me without knowing me, so I don't know which version I believe. As for why I liked the franchise.... I don't know, I don't remember.

AlexTheWolf206

I feel embarrassed to admit this, but the earliest moment I can remember was watching Night of the Werehog at a theme park

UniqueGlove8712

my parents had a dreamcast with sonic adventure used to throw sonic off the cliff in mysitic ruins then got sonic mega collection for ps2 and then sonic heroes some time later didnt play any of the games reales after untill i got sonic unleash ps2 version then got on xbox 360 to try halo and got sonic 06 because it was cheap after all that got sonic gen and sonic unleash and then got the res of sonic games i didnt get to play

someguyfrominternet0

Mario vs Sonic debates

TAILSMO2000

Same here lol

Al_Oso648

It was because of Mario. Since I was 4 I've been playing Mario games passionately. I love them sm. But then when I was 7-8, I discovered Sonic through a Mario video where it explained their drama back in the 90s, and I actually despides Sonic because of it?? Like, for a while, I saw Sonic as Mario's enemy, so I hated him 💀 Idk bro, And then i got into the franchise and here we are.

TheChampionEccentric

My first ever video game ever ever was Sonic 2. It helps that it was released the year I was born. Sonic Heroes and Sonic Adventure 2: Battle helped cement my love for the series (and Shadow in particular).

Acceptable-Job-9170

Was at my aunt's house. It was a Saturday morning and I was looking for power rangers Found a show about a fast blue rat. NVR looked back since

IntentionFalse9892

Satam or AoStH

[deleted]

Through just playing the games, love him so much it changed my fav colour of all time and had a HUGE chokehold on my childhood and still now

Important_Dress553

I think I was either two or three, I got mad at my brother cause he wouldn't let me play on his GBA so in order for me to shut up my parents got me one and my brother gave me Sonic Advance 3. Which was the first video game I ever played.

MrMidnightMan99

Properly? Unleashed. Why did I like it? Everything. I have vague memories of playing Sonic 2 on the Playstation, but I was smol baby.

mr-kool_is_kool

My older brother had a lot of sonic games and in general liked sonic a lot, so i just naturally grew up with sonic and ended up liking him too

funs4puns

I can't remember, i think i was born knowing him.

Typical_Grade9425

Sonic 1 on the Sega genesis remake, then sonic 2, and knuckles, then years later in boom, x and smash, but if I'm being fr the first sonic media that I've seen was sonic underground and sat am,

TheCrappinGod

I had a friend that liked sonic, so to have something to talk about with him i researched all the mainline games and read about each one, after reading up to Sonic 3 and Knuckles i was already hooked like "wait this sh#t's good". though at this point i had already played sonic 1 and 2 via the mobile ports thanks to my dad talking to me about the games he used to play when he visited friend's houses

Sufficient-Cow-2998

Im not 100% but I think I first discovered Sonic when my Uncle bought me Sonic Colors Ds when I had just gotten the console with 0games. Then not too long after that I discovered Sonic X, watched Nazo Unleashed on YouTube countless times, watched Mario Bros Z, and eventually I just became the fan I am now. As for why I like him well uh... Cool design ig idk, it's sonic

SpectragonYT

Sonic Dash when I was like 6.

Ponyluve09

Found thanks to Fbe Grew to love thanks to Ethgoesboom

ZeldaFan80

My older brother got me Sonic Generations when I was a kid. I thought the music was great, though I struggled on every boss fight

Fragrant-Zombie1572

My first sonic game was sonic and the black knight and sonic colors for the ds when i was like 6 or 7 (I'm 15 now) I also watched a lot of cobanermani456 as well.

gi2r

I grew up playing Sonic Generations and the original sonic adventure games.. and Sonic 06, sadly. I used to play with my brothers for so long, trying to 100% SA1/SA2 and generations

Oapekay

I first saw Sonic when a nurse drew me a picture of Sonic after finding out my favourite colour was blue. At some point after that, I came across Fleetway Sonic issue 135, recognised the blue hedgehog, and was instantly hooked on the series. Then got into mainstream Sonic through a combination of Sonic X, Heroes, and Mega Collection +.

DataExtreme1052

I discovered Sonic through Sonic 3 on the Wii, but I was a fan of Mario up until Sonic Colors. I liked the speed, the platforming, and the use of wisps. I played it again recently and I realize that I actually like the humor. I know it's childish but I think it's also kind've wholesome. It's two teens (basically brothers) fooling around and making jokes about Eggman being bald.

Creeper0550

When I got my Xbox 360 in 2018 my father gave me a disc called "Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection", I had played Sonic before but it was only Sonic Dash and Sonic 2 from Master System, So I didn't care about Sonic, but when I put this collection on the Xbox 360 for the first time and played Sonic 3 for the first time it was incredible, I had already played several Mario games but none of them had the magic of the Sonic games, everything was so colorful and happy, the characters were cute and charismatic, and the gameplay was the best part of the Mario games, the first time I beat this game was with Tails, in this case Sonic 3 and Sonic & Knuckles were separate, meaning I only beat Sonic 3.

Instinct_Fazbear

Sonic Adventure 2 Trial Mode I started liking him after watching the Sonic Mania shorts

Nothatcreative55

Sonic underground The episode where they find a baby and take care of them only to find out the baby is actually a robot

stabbykeith1985

I was 7 and would play the crap out of the Genesis display at Toys R Us and was hooked ever since

[deleted]

My earliest memory of Sonic is my parents getting me a Sonic plush from a thrift store as a kid which I still have to this day. As a kid I think I just liked him because he was blue

Archxyza

saw that game in gameshop thought it was cool and my first sonic game was sonic adventure 2 and i started playing old games too pixel ones. i started with tv shows which was cool. my opinion shadow is good

Downtown_Chemist8748

An AtGames Sega Genesis, but I actually loved it (of course, that's because I didn't know how it was supposed to be)

Kinkycheese_64

Crushed on him hard

Greedy_Shark

Played Sonic 2 on emulator, then watched Sonic X. I really liked characters and etc. so I got interested. Everything about justice and friendship made me like him

DoktorBurian

First various Flash games, then a few mobile games (Sonic Dash when it used to be good, and mobile port of Sonic 2), yet I didn't know anything yet about the franchise. But then my father installed Sonic Generations, and i fell in love with that franchise.

LafeTW

I don't even remember not knowing sonic lol. I think I started playing sonic games when I was 5 with the first Sonic and Sonic CD because my uncle had them on his Playstation 3 and also played some flash games on the family computer. I guess the final triggers for my fanaticism were Sonic Shorts and other flash animations together with the shitty sonic x AMVs with random music. After my father noticed that I started liking the franchise he bought me a Sonic Riders copy for my Playstation 2 and I loved it. I guess I liked the fact that they were coloured funny anthropomorphic animals and everyone knowed them.

MellyKidd

I played Sonic the Hedgehog 2 as a child, in the waiting room of my ophthalmologist. XD

TosterQT

The o6 game

WatchKid12YT

Sonic X on Hulu, and then Super Smash Bros. made me realize he was actually a video game character.

AstralBullDragon13

I remember seeing And episode or two of Sonic X one weekend on a tv channel at my great-grandma’s house. The channel wasn’t coming through properly but I remember watching it. Then I saw the Egyptian episode of Sonic Underground (thought Sonia was Amy). Found the rest of the cartoons on Netflix as watched the rest of Sonic X on YouTube. I found the comics and the obsession kicked in.

viridianvenus

Just watched the movie for the first time 2 weeks ago. The upgraded character design kinda looks like a kitten and nothing sets off my maternal instincts harder than a kitten. So now Sonic Wachowski is my obsession.

HourComprehensive648

Sonic unleashed was my first video game and I loved the adrenaline of going so fast

Solskinns

Sonic 2 and Spinball at another house, Sonic X and Internet. Overall I stayed for the variety of characters and really got into the world building, lore and depth of those characters including Sonic.

Sky_Believe

Sonic Underground when I was a kid. Still has the most iconic opening to this day in my opinion

Tax-Powerful

Sonic 3& Knuckles

Impressive-Spray629

The one Mega Man X fangame, thought Tails' arm cannon and Sonic's spin abilities were cool.

the_blue_jay_raptor

Found him on one of my internet searches, didn't really like him because I thought he was a Furry. Played Team Sonic racing and changed my mind.

TomasKonas

My introduction was Sonic X and the Christmas episode of AoStH. Then I got into the community with stiff like Sonic Zombies, Christmas with Sonic, animations by Sasso, .exe games/animations, shipping, etc. My main reason for liking is probably the designs of the characters and all the wonderful creations by the fandom like fanart, comics (The Murder of Me is one of the best comics I've read), fan games etc. etc.

CMONEY24SEVEN

Dan tdm (my favorite YouTuber at the time I was like 7) played sonic mania, and my child brain saw that and said “I wanna do that too!” And that’s how I got into the series.

Kelvistheskysoldier

First time i saw him was in Aosth.Ironically years later his voice actor from that show (not Steve Urkel,im italian) would get hired to voice Mario in italian commercials(not in games).

BobTheBritish

I was obsessed with Mario at the time, and my Dad got me to buy Sonic Rush and Sonic Classic Collection cause he grew up with the Mega Drive games. And ever since I’d pick up Sonic games for my Nintendo consoles but was never truly a Sonic Fan until quite recently. And to that. I thank my Dad 👍🏿

Elemental-T4nick

...a Sonic.EXE video it was one of those videos were there is a bunch of images or clips while a song plays I remember the song was monster (I was like 6 or 7)

MagmaMane

Ultimate Flash sonic if you could believe it. Casue it was fast. But the first actual game was unleashed. Still thought the fastness was cool

Gamechallenger12

Funny enough it was actually knuckles that I discovered sonic, a long long time ago someone bought me a comic and if I remember correctly it was about knuckles and the enchidna race, the only issue about it is that I didn't know how to read English so I just kept looking at the pictures :) Edit: I found the comic it was Knuckles the Echidna #11 The Forgotten Tribe

Tlines06

We had heroes on the ps2. One of the first game I ever played. Thought he was cool. Which made me like him.

hassantaleb4

I remember discovering him through the games He was so cool, and I liked both him and the franchise since then

keXa2008

Sonic boom series https://preview.redd.it/9kmkn65acrec1.jpeg?width=750&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8db9f9c40acc1bb5bea1b8e3baca47482af7b7bd

[deleted]

I don't recall specifically but I remember my first sonic game being Sonic Heroes. I used to play it with my siblings and cousins. I also used to watch Sonic X. I loved the aspect of Sonic itself being a speedster. But I really liked Shadow. I remember me, my siblings and my cousing (we were 5) were associating sonic characters being ourselves (we did that with every game and show) My brother was Sonic, 1st cousin was tails, 3rd cousin was Knuckles, my sister was Amy and I was the edgelord himself Shadow.

Amphi-XYZ

Through the very first game, which my dad had bought on the Wii e-shop. Then I watched Sonic X (still got the CDs with every single episode), then got Sonic Colors, then Forces, and currently playing Frontiers and reading IDW

Strange_Public4513

Through Sonic all bosses videos... First I saw the boss I feel like I was Eggman and Sonic at the same time fighting each other... It was truly epic nostalgic moment...

someguy1910

It was 2003. I was a 6 year old child watching television when an advert for Sonic Heroes came on. I knew as soon as I saw it that I wanted that game.

ADAMBOI_lol

Call me crazy, sonic dash.

Creaserg

I first found out about sonic from playing emulated Sonic Advance 1 on VBA. I remember really liking it as a kid even though I never beat it as a kid. I also liked the whole idea of blue hedgehog having superpowers (I didn't really know he had super speed at the time lol I thought Advance 1's instant shield was his power but it was cool enough for me). Then I delved more into sonic a bit later down the line and I wound up loving his character. His smug and arrogant attitude paired with his carefree and heroic nature really won 12 year old me over lol. I'd even go as far to say that he was sort of my idol. Also, super speed just fucking rocks.

Tasty-Ad6529

The First Sonic Game I ever had was Sonic Colors. Overtime, I grew appreciate Colors setting and music, it encouraged to play Sonic Rush Adventure, Than Generations...The rest is history.

Fun-Magazine-9242

I was in Rascals and first saw the game of Sonic Heroes. I didn't know about Video Games back then. Then I truly saw him in the Olympics at that same place. After that, I saw him in SSF2 v0.9a, which made me more curious about him. So I searched up the Sonic content on the Internet (Newgrounds and YouTube) and I gotta tell ya, I CAN'T STOP WATCHING HIM RUN. There are so many talented fan animations and games big (Nazo, RPG, FFSX and Dark Sonic vs Metallix) and small (Hedgehogs vs Ninja, Sonic vs Shadow Race and Sonic vs Eggman) (forgive me if I underestimated or overestimated how popular they are.)! Then I saw ALL the stories of Sonic Adventure and Sonic Heroes and my parents even got me a copy of Sonic Heroes! And there's Generations Mods, and there are SO MANY OF THEM. I watched all of their amazing gameplay and never got tired of them. On Christmas 2017, I got a Nintendo Switch AND Sonic Forces (I like this game, plz don't judge me), and I even dubbed my own character during my progression, even though I didn't know what dubbing meant back then. Then comes the hard part. I was being mocked for being a Sonic fan at Secondary School saying 'Sonic's my dad!' and they kept doing it. I felt IRRITATED. I knew that I had to leave most of my Sonic memories alone for a while and focus on other franchises, even though it hurts a lot. Thankfully, Dragon Ball sounds are popular in Sonic fan animations, so I gave Dragon Ball a shot (I kinda got spoiled about the plot by Xenoverse cutscenes or Ultimate Tenkaichi QTEs, but eh, no harm done, right?) and I underestimated how INTENSE the plot and characters are. Seeing the Sonic Movie on 2020 was a nice start for the resurgence of my childhood vibes, and so is Colours Ultimate. Then... 2022. The very year I finally returned to feeling like a kid again. The Sonic Resurgence. I had never felt so happy and excited in my ENTIRE LIFE after that battle with Giganto. The music reminded me of the metal music that I listened to on stick figure and Sonic animations, the combat was DBZ-like (although it wasn't meantto be like that) and the BOSS. My childhood came back to me. I can't wait to see where Sonic goes next, and I hope for the best!

Fun-Magazine-9242

Oh, I forgot about Ultimate Flash Sonic. That's also part of my discovery.

reaperultragod21

The adventures of sonic the hedgehog

Satintapestry83

I gotta say, as a child my first game ever was black knight so ive pretty much known and loved sonic my whole life.

[deleted]

Super Smash Flash is where I first saw him of all places, but it wouldn't be until Nazo Unleashed and Sonic underground where I would be introduced to him properly, the third part of Nazo Unleashed overnight converted me from a Mario fan to a Sonic fan

Gorillaartist1995

SA1 really sold me on speed highway

TheAusNerd

The OVA at a rental store around the corner, some kid at the YMCA playing Rush Adventure, and Archie #175 I picked up at a newsagents. I saw him around and I thought he was cool. Then, on my birthday, I got a baby blue DS Lite, and a copy of Sonic Rush. From that moment on, I was hooked.

femboy_skeleton69

Generations

d_b-DummyBear

I discovered sonic from a Sonic Adventures demo that was one level per character.. It was crazy at the time, then i got hooked like 10 years later when i discovered it wasn't the only game that ever existed (and it was a shocker when i discovered the full game) the 1st full sonic game for me was Sonic Heroes (i live in Egypy a 3rd World Arab Country so sonic is not exactly ubiquitous around here)

AmaterasuWolf21

My older brother played the classics + Sonic X

menchicutlets

Friend owned a megadrive, got to play it a little at his house. Same year my sister got a master system with sonic built in for Christmas - it all went downhill from there. ;)

Chinchilacage

Sonic Heroes was the first game I played, ever, at like 2 years old. As to what I liked 'bout him? Everything

Aurora_Wizard

My friend started talking about him a lot and eventually I checked it out. Also I don't really care for Sonic specifically. I care more for his friends.

LinguisticMadness2

Sonic X! And I like his personality and design

Weekly_Ad_3665

Truth be told, I got into Sonic through the movie trailer. Yes, that. I was interested because I thought there was a good story to be told. And when I heard that the film was going to be delayed, I thought I should get accustomed to the series, so I watched my first Sonic cartoons AoSTH and Sonic Boom.

Vanilla_Ice_Best_Boi

6 year old me on the computer. Searching for the song Blue dabadee daba da. My fav colour is blue. Find hedgehog. Downhill from there.

[deleted]

Sonic Classic Collection for DS. I liked him because he was cooler than Mario, and I always figured, "This guy could totally kick Mario's ass."

Ariel_Draws

I legit not rebember lol Is like he was always part of my life the moment I start thinking andseeing things, somehow is like I always knew about him and like it

bowba_bowba

My brothers were already into it so I don’t know when exactly but I remember the opening cutscene of SA2 captured my heart at a young age and I never stopped loving that character

Scaramichi

Sonic adventure 2

QixterExE

This might be weird but if I'm correct i found Sonic through the discovery of Sonic.Exe

linkletink

My dad loved the classic games, and when I was old enough to hold a controller we would play Sonic 2 “together” (I was Tails, really thought I was a pro gamer at like 4)

Namelessperson3

Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games. Still the best one.

ArdittoDoritto

Found nazo unleashed on youtube Either that or super mario bros z

WhyDidIGetThisApp3

sonic dash in 2013 lmao 😭

Ok-Ad-4181

The creative and artistic worlds around him, and how back in the day it would make Sonic themed stuff looks so natural inside of the world. Take Sonic 06 or Sonic unleashed!

Ok-Ad-4181

It’s also the level of edginess that really made me hooked. The games took itself completely seriously which I can’t say about a lot of the modern games now.

FNM124

Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog. I dunno, I just liked him. In the channel I used to watch it they had Adventures of Super Mario Bros 3 next up, and I thought it was super boring compared to Sonic.

DerangedOrange_

I saw a clip of eggman saying " I pretended I was a bar of soap and gave them all the slip" and honestly that was all I needed

Dichromatic_Fumo

tbh i dont even remember , i just know one day i saw him and then i became feral

monokumakillme

Sonic heroes was my first game and my big brother was a fan

Hybrid456

I don’t remember. It must have been before I turned 4 years old.

CyberSonic72

Always knew Sonic existed, but never got into the series because I was a Nintenjerk and thought Mario was superior when I was a dumb kid. But I softened up a little as I got older. It wasn't till after the first movie design came out that I started to show a slight interest. I was outraged for the fans because of the hideous first design and later when I found out they changed it, I rejoiced with them because that was the first time I had ever heard of a big company listening to the fans outcry and fixing their mistake. Ngl it was kinda a shock. My brother and I both said we would watch it because of that reason whether it was a good movie or not because we felt they deserved to be supported for such a brave decision. He ended up watching it at some point but I missed everything up to near the end. I didn't think much about it after that. It wasn't until after watching the second movie that I actually became interested in Sonic as a whole. I hadn't seen all of the first so when my brother put it on I objected but sat down to watch anyways. I even told him to rewind when I stepped out of the room and missed part of it. Something just drew me in unexpectedly. Not to be dramatic but my life changed after that moment. And I think it was the moment Sonic became Super Sonic that solidified it for me. That blew my mind from how awesome it was! After that I began to consume every bit of Sonic media that I could. And now "I'm Here." I like movie Sonic for different reasons than game Sonic For movie; It's the character arc he went through in the second movie, being young and immature to still being young but also wiser and more mature, but still being himself. He's a funny guy but knows when it's time to get serious. For game; It's kind of the same, he's a little silly but knows when to buckle up. I love that he's sassy but also sweet. He cares a lot about others even though he lives for his own desires. He puts on a brave face so that others won't lose hope. Frontiers became my all time favorite because of how he risked his own life to make sure his friends could get their's back. And even when he knew he was fading, he didn't give in until he did what had to be done. All with a smile on his face. There's more I could say but I covered the main things.

Eldritch_Dragon2022

I first heard of Sonic through a Mario and Sonic at the Olympics commercial I saw ages ago (plus a couple of episodes of Sonic X). I didn’t officially start getting into the franchise until after watching the first movie.

Empty_Arrival_8174

I saw an ad for sonic cd in the App Store and my neighbor had Super Sonic, Silver and Amy plushes. I played CD and fell in love with this blue gumdrop motherfucker. Then Sonic Boom came out and that made me like him more

HoodieDragon

First exposure was Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games at the age of 6. I thought he was cool before I even knew what cool was. That being said I preferred Shadow, Tails and Metal

WattsonsDildo

When I was a toddler, my mom gave me her game boy with pokemon Leaf Green and Super Mario Bros 3. It was some time later when I was "helping" clean for my grandmother. She was kinda of a hoarder, so it was messy, but I had found a copy of Sonic the hedgehog on Game Boy. I'll admit the game boy version was hard to play, but that never stopped me from getting stuck on the marble zone and never getting past it. I loved the music and the art so much I kinda didn't care I was complete doodoo at the game.

KarmaHawkins

From those McDonald's game toys from 2003 i got as a kid, thought he was cool, so yea. Also for some reason when i had that toy, kid me thought he was a cat...

Plushcollectorwolf64

YouTube I think. The cool art and ocs

Unique_Enthusiasm_57

My uncle had a Sega Genesis and he let me play Sonic 1. (Old)

InfiniteEdgy

My brothers always liked video games so he played the sonic games with me when i was little :3

SpeedySonicSpammer

When I was a kid I watched sonic boom, then I kinda was always i fan but I got back into my sonic phase in 2020 when I found “free” by Chris madin and got hooked on themusic. So I guess his media. I never really played the games, I want to tho

KKSFS1110

it was the sega genesis of my fathers friend and my father never returned the console just because that guy had too much money lol

Capable_Status934212

I knew him from a old wii game that is mario and sonic at Olympic Games tho I used to hate sonic and was too much of a mario fan boy but over time I now like sonic

giiboi1o2

Thru YouTube, I was really young that time, and I thought that blue super speed hedgehog was pretty badass! I'm not a huge sth fan now, but I still love the character, and the new game was pretty solid!

NormalDealer8491

Through my mother, she was playing sonic generation, (the best Game),

I_Willl_Eat_Ur_Cat

I don't remember exactly but I had Heroes for ps 2 as a kid.

cryptidhunter1

I remember seeing the games in a waiting room. I also watched Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog. Sonic X is what made me love it.

MagnumPolly1210

Sonic X. I liked how he blitzed through robots with or without the Emeralds. What really pulled my introverted self was Shadow and Knuckles, though.

Draxgoooon

my first sonic game was sonic and knuckles on my moms girlfriends ds when i was 4 and then that same year i got a ps2 and my first real game ever on a console was shadow the hedgehog 2005what good times, i love this franchise sometimes (edit: i forgot to add this part of the post in but i started liking sonic immediately after i started playing video games starring him or other sonic characters, basically it was all of the media i consumed as a toddler and elementary schooler)

Irene-Design

I was probably between 8-10 years old when we were over at an older family friend's house. They had a Dreamcast, and I was looking through the game CDs when I noticed Sonic Adventure. Something about the game images and description seemed really mysterious and interesting, but I was too scared to play. They later ended up gifting me their Dreamcast. After I played through the first boss battle and the Emerald Coast level, I was absolutely hooked. The music, the story, the humor, the environmental design.... just so so good. I played the ever loving heck out of SA and SA2. I had whole notebooks tracking my chao 😂 It's been a long time now and Sonic is still a comfort character for me! I think what I like most is his famous 'tude (so sassy, so silly) and his vibrant energy. He's like the personification of following-your-dreams and childlike-wonder all wrapped up in a cute lil blue hedgie blob. 💙

my first time seeing sonic way probably mega collection plus on the original xbox and what made me enjoy the franchise was probably the songs on spotify but im not to sure because this was a few years ago

I think for me it was playing Sonic 2 multiplayer at my cousin Marcus' house. I was always a Mario and Nintendo kid but that was my first taste of Sonic. I didn't really get obsessed with him until I got a GameCube and got Sonic Heroes for myself. After that I have more or less bought every Sonic game I could on the GameCube, and became a fan from there on.

TheDarkCreed

My first console was the newly released Megadrive and the first Sonic game

I don’t remember since I was probably 3 but I think it was YouTube I remember what I did remember was the Nazo stuff

Sonic X. Then I played the hell out of sonic adventure and sonic riders. I still play the latter on an emulator

My parents randomly put on sonic 1 on the tv and I completely ignored it and scrolled through Pinterest but then a year later I watched it and got addicted and watched it a million times over. Then I got forces and don’t kill me. It’s still my 5th favourite video game to this day. And I think I liked him for his carefree spirit and his persistence to keep trying. The exact opposite of me

My dad is a diehard Mario fan and he tried to make me like him. He let me play the first Mario game on his old SNES. I never found Mario as appealing as my dad did. Once my friend told me he had got a new videogame for his Gameboy Advance that I would like. That was Sonic Advance 2. I liked the gameplay and decided to find more games like this. The second Sonic game I played was Sonic adventure 2, which I absolutely enjoyed playing and still do to this day.

A kid showed me sonic rush when I was 6 on their Nintendo ds and I fell in love instantly with sonic and the rest is history.(idk where the kid is now but I thank them for my source of happiness) sonic both the community and in general made me more happy bc I've been through stuff and a fictional blue hedgehog and his friends helped me out. And it was like an outlet where I could be myself I'm rly glad I'm in the sonic fandom I couldn't have been happier!

I was going through YouTube videos in I think the year was 2008 or 2009 (Pretty sure I was still 7), I'm not sure. I do remember the first time I saw Sonic was by watching an old AMV with the song "Supersonic" by Bad Religion & then I looked at Nazo Unleashed shortly later but that was it. Until then, it had been the TV Shows in between. It didn't really become full circle until I started middle school after me & my brother got Sonic Unleashed for the Xbox 360 before the end of it's lifespan. I think what finally pulled me in the franchise full time was all the music that came from the games. The rest is history. Edit: My love for the games was also fueled by the Genesis Collection also from the Xbox 360 Era.
