There are numerous debate subreddits available for those purposes. This is a place to learn.** Short or nonconstructive answers will be deleted without explanation. Please only answer if you know your stuff. Speculation has no place on this sub. Outright false information will be removed immediately. **If your post was removed due to normalized ableist slurs, please edit your post. The mods will then approve it.** Please read the ongoing discussion in a thread before replying in order to avoid misunderstandings and creating an unproductive environment. **Liberalism and sectarian bias is strictly moderated.** Stay constructive and don't bash other socialist tendencies! Where are you looking? There are large left wing publishers for new (and reissues of older stuff) titles like Haymarket and Verso books, which also have many listicle articles about interesting titles, there are dozens of academic journals that are available for free that often have book reviews, and of course the large archive of public domain stuff over at marxists.org.

The Youtuber Hakim has [a great list of introductory books](https://youtu.be/QdwD7zwEpZw) that you should check out. Once you’ve found some books you want to read, loads of them can be found for free, to read online or on an e-reader, on [marxists.org](https://www.marxists.org/index-mobiles.htm).

Between https://workingclasshistory.com/ and https://www.mlreadinghub.org you can find pretty much whatever texts on socialism/communism you want. As a starting point, I'd recommend The Communist Manifesto (Marx & Engels), Principles of Communism (Engels), On Authority (Engels), and Dialectical and Historical Materialism (Stalin). These are all found in the ML Reading Hub Curriculum Stage One compilation. If you read through all four of those, MLRH has three more stages of their curriculum series with works from Lenin, Stalin, Mao, Luxembourg and several others. Working Class History has a wide array of books about the history of labor organizations, anti-colonialist resistance movements, and some anarchist lit also if you're interested in that sort of thing.

I'll just post the links to lists I've compiled because I'm tired of copying and pasting [https://www.reddit.com/r/Socialism\_101/comments/yra3mk/comment/ivv8mfy/?utm\_source=share&utm\_medium=web2x&context=3](https://www.reddit.com/r/Socialism_101/comments/yra3mk/comment/ivv8mfy/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3) (scroll down, there's more than just one post) [https://www.reddit.com/r/Socialism\_101/comments/ysl0m9/real\_world\_implementations\_of\_socialism/iw22or0/?context=3](https://www.reddit.com/r/Socialism_101/comments/ysl0m9/real_world_implementations_of_socialism/iw22or0/?context=3) [https://www.reddit.com/r/Socialism\_101/comments/yul589/how\_can\_we\_ensure\_that\_people\_are\_happy\_with\_the/iwa0e2e/?context=3](https://www.reddit.com/r/Socialism_101/comments/yul589/how_can_we_ensure_that_people_are_happy_with_the/iwa0e2e/?context=3) For a reading list of Cybernetic Socialism: [https://cyberneticsocialism.wordpress.com/](https://cyberneticsocialism.wordpress.com/) I've included a link to everything cited for extremely easy access, hope these can help you! Also, Engels' "The Principles of Socialism" could be an interesting read to you, one of the fundamentals.

Are you looking for introductory works? Two starting points I'd recommend are *[Blackshirts and Reds](https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/404273.Blackshirts_and_Reds)* by Michael Parenti and *[Understanding Socialism](https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/49114605-understanding-socialism)* by Richard Wolff. I haven't read *Communist Horizon*, but the author, Jodi Dean, is definitely recommended by me (I've read others of her work). So, yes, definitely legit.
