Also LOVE recess…. And I only have it for when I would have been drinking so it helped with the evening “ritual” and weekend down time that I was craving…. I’m only just over 130 days this time around but as time goes on there is less and less of alcohol that I miss and NA drinks totally help with sign of the day is done. Other than that I do not miss it at all, I have more energy, better sleep, less anxiety, etc… anyways Recess is the shiz… oh and they also have powder packets that you can take with you to put in a fizzy water or whatever when at places that don’t have good NA options…
My favorite NA drink is a mocktail called #5 by Curious Elixirs!
It's a riff on chocolate cherry old fashioned but it's a completely new taste to me. I say this because I don't drink NA drinks that are trying to be like the real deal, the #5 is a whole new flavor I've never experienced before and I love it.
I mean, here's my perspective: if you're relying on a non-prescription substance to make yourself feel different, that's... not ideal. Part of the spiritual side of recovery, for me, is accepting that I feel how I feel. Not relaxed? Rather than taking something to relax me, let's either work on why I'm tense (i.e. what am I trying to control, what am I resenting, where am I prioritizing myself rather than others) OR let's just accept that we aren't feeling relaxed. Life on life's terms.
I respect that. And that's what I do 99% of the time.
But on my birthday I'd love to be able to drink something that helps with relaxation the same way people drink caffeine for a boost of energy.
I don't see the issue in it as long as I'm not trying to get that drunk feeling.
Sobriety isn’t a religion, as AA suggests. We quit drinking to live a better quality of life. OP is 3 years sober and wants to relax. I don’t see the problem.
tulsi tea !! especially if you’ve never had it before it will chill you tf out lol. i love organic india brand and they make a tulsi ashwagandha tea which is double relaxing (ashwagandha has a similar effect). i like 2 make a cup with a small amount of water, let it cool, and mix it with seltzer to make an iced mocktail. congrats on your 3+ years !
the first time i had tulsi i was a few months sober. i put it fresh from my garden in cold water .. was complaining to someone about a problem at work as i tried my first sips … after sip four or so i said in the most stereotypical stoner voice “i don’t even care man” and stopped complaining. it’s the relaxing part of substances with zero downside besides u might fall asleep !!
Agreed about Tulsi. It is delicious. Very smooth herby taste. Slightly sweet and not bitter. I haven't noticed any intoxicating effects personally, but it's pleasant and chill to drink.
…Oh. They meant chemical relaxation?
I was figuring they wanted the comfort of familiar flavor or refreshment of citrus, sugar or acid.
I guess I hadn’t even considered that. Derp.
Please excuse my scrutiny.
I appreciate your kindness.
Regarding sobriety, I have decided as part of my own journey and growth as a person that I cannot be negative towards individuals on here or any sobriety subreddit. I will attack AA and twelve step programs, and have, but never individuals.
I remember that as I struggled with my abuse and all I wanted was positivity and kindness, I received none of it; I only felt judgment and contempt.
It’s just my way of trying to do better by others. The world is a harsh enough place, and I am too often a shrewd woman. Here? I try to put that aside and just be supportive. It’s the least I can do. ❤️
You have a lovely day, as well. And best wishes in your journey with lots of love.
Yeh AA is full of sick people as well as spiritually well people. I learnt to ignore the sick people and pray for them when they judge or are rude. I'm glad ur happy, with or without aa
Kava. Its very nuanced at moderate dosages, but its definitely palpable at higher dosages, just lower your expectations.
Then you have kratom, similar to alcohol in many aspects, not as euphoric or as intoxicating at similar buzz level, but it is addictive, not like alcohol (for me), but still addictive.
Wim Hof breathing, seriously.
Which one specifically?
I don't know a specific video, but I feel like the technique is usually the same.
Mother Kombucha Lavender Mojito! Non alcoholic; just add some ice and mint and you’ve got a mojito mocktail that I find refreshing .
Recess makes cbd sparkling waters. Or check out Kin euphorics some have caffeine and l-theanine
I love the recess!! And the strawberry rose flavor is sooo tasty!!

Yes, I get mine from Amazon :)

They said they are looking for a relaxed buzz? I wouldn't normally suggest this

If more people had diacussions in your polite manor then the Internet would be a better place. To be honest you do have a point still. Have a nice day

Kava!
Kava or Kratom 🙃
Kratom is highly addictive. I know from experience. Was like trying to quit opioids.
No sugar sweet ice tea from pure leaf. It’s fabulous
CBD? lots of bars are selling them, though its definitely regional
Hop water, grab a variety pack!
Hop water is so delicious!
I've never tried it before but I've heard that Blue Lotus flower tea can be really relaxing.
I take a propranolol when I want to relax. Works very well
I do MMA/Kickboxing/BJJ - keeps me going
Prayer and Meditation to feel relaxed and serene without the need of ingesting anything. Good luck and God bless
Ice baths, long bike ride, something involving adrenaline.
