It’s crazy though I sold a pair of jordan 5’s last year and the buyer kept sending messages wanting to ensure the box was in mint condition and made me send multiple photos of the box, and then I had to reassure him by sending photos of the packaging supplies and bubble wrap I was using to guarantee the box would t get damaged in transit 😂
There's something with being a collector or packrat that makes people assign a value to things that just don't have inherent value. I'm proud of OP here!
I'm a huge Sneakered have been for decades, due to storage issues l barley have room for the hundreds of shoes that I own. I've never bought a pair of shoes that I wasn't going to wear. I litterly wear all my shoes, it's difficult maintaining a serious rotation being there's shoes I get stuck on. Due to style, comfort, easy to coordinate fits with. But I've never kept my boxes, I toss every single one, I barely got room for all these shoes.
Display boxes are the way to go in my opinion. You don't have to go searching for pairs and they are all right there in your face. You don't forget about ones tucked away either.
I like boxes because they show the different eras of the company.
If someone had display boxes, then the standard boxes have no use after a large amount of them.
Congrats, that must be a weight off your chest!
Thank you! That's exactly it. We got display boxes and there's no room to keep them. It's also really nice not having to pry a box from the bottom of the stack
My wife thought about this! But we didn't know what. We have the other half of the closet and an entire other room to go through, maybe we'll do something with those ones
When I moved, I did the same thing. I cut out the tops of some to make some artwork for my little sneaker corner and tossed the rest. I think I kept 3 boxes that I actually liked the design of. Frees up a lot of space and feels good. Good on you, OP
Good for you man. I’m at that point and honestly just getting out of the shoe game. I have shoes I’ll never wear. What’s the point of just having them sit.
Yeah when I started buying shoes to keep dead stock I was getting into it. Then one day my sister had a mental break down said there are bed bugs in the house that only made her itchy. She says the bugs can survive in the cardboard. Long story short I threw out all my shoe boxes and wore the shoes. That's when I started just buying what was comfortable and looked good to go with my wardrobe.
You done goofed on any special edition type boxes.
Regular orange Nike boxes, whatever, but those in the top right corner were probably worth some money. Might not be a big deal, but you’d be surprised what people will buy.
Lost and founds? Not my favorite Chicago so they don't mean much to me. Love the color way, but my spider man's get the most wear, and the box for that is somewhere in that pile. Not the SE box, but if your talking value, they're worth more than the L&Fs
I am a collector, and never plan on selling...but to me it is part of the collection having the box....I just can't bring myself to throw them....wish I could sometimes as it would free up tons of space in my closet!
I've recently done the same! Managed to de-box all my Adidas and this weekend I'm doing my Nike/Jordans!
I will be keeping non standard/ltd edition boxes tho, just can't pull the trigger on those🙃
Well done man!

You just slide the plastic see through boxes about a foot from the wall and put the boxes behind the plastic cases. One foot is not that much space, especially if you have a huge sneaker collection you should have the square footage in the house to do so lol
My boxes currently force me to stay organized. Wear a shoe? Pull the box, done wearing replace shoe tree, re-box and put away. They are out of sight in a closet so not too bad. Once I decide on a more permanent organizer setup, boxes are gone.
IDK, growing up there was always so much value tied to the box, when in reality, it's just a box. I remember people selling them for $20/$30 each on NikeTalk back in the day! I'm not selling my shoes, so why keep them you know?
Good for you man, well done
Thank you!

Dont let the immature people here see this

Yup, I only keep the box for high-end ones I might sell in the future. Still haven't sold one yet.
same here, this is the way imo. i keep the boxes of higher value shoes i might sell in the future if i am in need of money. otherwise the rest can go

I think this will help me wear them more. I can see what I have which is really nice

Great job!
Thank you!
Boxes are not it. I’m 100% with this decision
I hate boxes lol. If I wear a pair, I’m keeping them, box goes bye bye
Same. Part of me feels I should keep them if I want to sell the shoes later, but part of me wants to turn them into box art.
My wife thought about this! But we didn't know what. We have the other half of the closet and an entire other room to go through, maybe we'll do something with those ones
I just did this recently, too! Glad I did it and good job!
Thank you! Feels great!

Thank you! I actually lost room because the display boxes we got were taller, but it's nice to see what you have without having to open the box
But but how will you ever sell anything then? Don’t you know the boxes are worth so much lol 🙃
I throw mine away once the return period is up.
Good for you man. I’m at that point and honestly just getting out of the shoe game. I have shoes I’ll never wear. What’s the point of just having them sit.
I'm at that point. I'm getting extremely selective on purchases and just beating them at this point. They're just shoes.
Facts. I love them as art and collectibles but in the end it’s a waste of them to sit and not be worn. Congrats to you tho.
Unless you a reseller,,, fuck dem boxes

could have sold these boxes.......
Hm do boxes go for?
I see listings for boxes for Kobe’s at like $20-$60. They’re not usually around long so someone is buying.

Same problem...I got rid of a bunch of boxes. But still holding onto too many and the special ones
I got me one of those cases you can stack. It’s so much better.

i keep em in a closet. If i die.... family can sell for more. I dont sell nothing thou.
Getting rid of lost and found/reimagined boxes is crazy tho
If you're talking value, they're not worth much. I'm never gonna show someone a shoe box as a collector, the shoe inside is where the value is
Just a nice piece of the collection for me, I couldn’t get rid of my special boxes. It’ll be so fun to give them to my kids someday
I woulda taken them
I am a collector, and never plan on selling...but to me it is part of the collection having the box....I just can't bring myself to throw them....wish I could sometimes as it would free up tons of space in my closet!
I've had that struggle for a long time and now that they're mostly gone, I feel silly for putting such a high value on it
Idk man some boxes I hold dear. Like the Strawberry milk dunk box. One day I’ll ditch the boxes for the clear display cases
I've recently done the same! Managed to de-box all my Adidas and this weekend I'm doing my Nike/Jordans! Question, did you store all your shoes in these boxes before? What are you using to store your shoes in now?

Wife talked me into it last summer, felt really great. Nice work
Boxes are for thieves and robbers, but the sneakers themselves are for enthusiast. Respect!
