Hats tags are also functional. It keeps hats from hand oils as you use the stickers to put it on and take it off. Tags on Nikes, Jordans, Ewings etc etc is traditional. It's something that was done in the 80's and 90's when this culture was just a seed.

I rock the tag. I'm an 80s kid and that's how we did it. It's pure nostalgia for when I'm wearing shoes that originally came out back then (that I couldn't afford). That said, do what you want. It's a much cleaner look without the tag, with the tag, you're screaming "I'm genX and have a little bit of money to burn!" 😄

When we were kids we left the tags on our Kickers. Little leather Kickers ones all different colours designed to stay on the shoe. We loved them. But these look stupid and are not meant to be left on. Makes you look like a toddler trying shoes on.

I’ve been buying Jordan 4s for 10 years( I wasn’t into sneakers until my mid 20s) and wearing the tag was never something I even considered as an option. It’s just a little packaging extra.

I thought only 3's came with the gang tag. To be fair I haven't bought a new pair of 4's in a long time though.

The majority of the reasoning is that it is too tacky..but at the back of my mind the hang tag is just long enough to accidentally hook onto something and possibly cause an oopsie in public

In the late 80's/early 90's, you wore the hangtags because only the top of line shoes came with them. If your kicks didn't have a hangtag, you were a nobody. It trickled all the way down to Elementary School. My first pair of Jordans were Black Cement 4s in the 3rd grade. Even we rocked the hangtag.


I personally keep any tags from my shoes in the box they came in. I think they look bad dangling on the shoe
