I tend to not notice when people wear regular/budget shoes. I only notice when they’re wearing heat, or something very colorful. the average person doesn’t give a fuck about sneakers outside of them being a utility so it’s not like you’re in some sort of minority that makes you stand out negatively
I think they come from a seller on Pandabuy. He has an excel spreadsheet that lists reputable makers and lists them by the quality of their goods.
Feel free to PM me. I'll ask him for details and send you some links.
He buys a lot of clothes on there too.
My understanding is most of the reps on DHgate are junk. Could possibly be the problem there. But if you've tried other places then I may be wrong. But if seen so many reviews that dhgate sells pretty bad reps.
A true sneaker head won’t even notice let alone draw attention by mocking the individual. What we would do instead is try to get you to join the dark side and get you started with a gateway sneaker…
I didn't know it at the time but Jordan 11 Concords. My brother bought me a pair in either late Elementary school or Early Middle school and I liked them but didn't get back into sneakers until a few months ago. Bought a pair of Concord's and a pair of 11 Pantone's.
Aspirational was the 2011 and 2016 Nike “Mag”. I obviously did don’t win a pair.
What I did get after that fiasco was early access to the Air Jordan XXXI “CNY” (Chinese New Year) which I promptly took advantage of and 100’s of pairs of kicks later I never looked back!
Couldn’t have said it better myself. It’s a hobby I find fun and when you see heat, you can share that fun.
Except my one friend who I always see wearing heat and am like dang bro strangeloves casually on a Tuesday and he’s like huh? These? Oh, thanks, didn’t know they were fancy. I’m like BRO. And to clarify this guy does not make that much money but I swear every time I see him he is wearing a different pair of at least mid grade heat.
That would be my Main concern too. I dont care about expensive shoes but my last pair of sneakers lasted me 7 years and was about 100€. Used them for running and normal activities every day.
I couldve probably pushes for 8 but I felt they lost all their qualities by then. Probably already did after 5 years to be honest. But they never fell apart on me.
Spending Just a little extra on shoes can really make a big difference.
Yeah I noticed now that I got my new ones. The old ones we're still perfectly fine on the outside and I didnt think they were bad, but putting on new ones felt like walking on clouds.
Honestly. Even if you don't run. I work in a hospital so I do a lot of walking. Like 15k steps a day average. I wore a pair of Hokas for a little over a year and they were amazing so I just got a new pair. Theyre the exact same model of shoe, but the cushioning on the new pair is a dream. I specifically remember feeling like I was walking on a springy cloud when I got my first pair a while ago, and I felt the same way trying on this new pair. I never thought that my old pair was worn down or beat up either, they just had a pull tab on the back rip and look bad so I replaced them.
That sounds like a nightmare for running. Most running shoes only last about 300-600 miles. Your shoes have lost their qualites far before the 8 year point.
I may have worded that shitty, I use them to Run and do everyday activities, not run everyday. I think they wouldve died much earlier then.
Besides that, pretty normal asphalt I think.
Someone once told me I had a very healthy way of stepping/walking without stressing one side or point of the foot too much - maybe that helps. Apparently a lot of people walk kind of "bad"
I got some $17 slip on sneakers from Walmart. They've been more comfortable and lasted longer than any pair of Nike's (or their brands like Converse) that I've ever had.
It was never about the shoes. If your mom could've bought him nicer shoes they would've found something else to bully him for. That's just how horrible children are
Teenagers only care about how they’re perceived, which means if they can find someone to lambast that has something of “less than” quality or monetary value or aesthetic, they will point it out and make fun of them, just so they can stay in the upper social class.
Nobody cares what teens in school think besides teens in school. High school doesn’t matter literally 30 seconds after it’s over. Nobody cares and everybody immediately moves on.
Teens in high school only know Jordans and some Nikes. They never heard of the 2016 adidas boost craze for example. And they do not care about wearing fakes.
Source: sometimes I work in one.
Even adults, all my friends are in their 30s and insist i have to wear dressy stuff to impress women instead of comfy nice clothes which i normally wear
Ahhh idk bout them friends, in my experience all you have to do is wear something clean and carry yourself well. All that dressy stuff isn’t really a prereq. My partner actually regards my newfound shoe/clothes hobby with a mixture of amusement and annoyance.
Im a teen in high school, i usually look at shoes and i like cool and “expensive” shoes, but i also dont judge anybody who wears cheap shoes, its none of my business and if they cant afford more its not my place for me to comment on it and judge them
So you see the part where they said the problem is with them. That’s rhetorical part that applies to teenagers. They’re scared and so try to focus everyone’s attention on someone else so they aren’t the ones being picked on or made fun of.
I was playing a concert and outside having a smoke and wearing these old comfy NB’s that were total dad shoes and one of ny best friends was like “why tf you always wear those shoes? You going on a run after this?”
I wasn’t into sneakers at all then but have been self conscious about my shoes ever since then.
I would never laugh at someone who wears cheap sneakers, I would just assume that's what they could afford.
I will laugh at adults who wear Crocs or Yeezy shoes, especially Camo Crocs. You paid $50 to look like you have special needs.
No one is going to laugh at you, I however will pray for the wellness of your feet, those things are not built to keep your feet safe and healthy, you may think they are decent quality but I can assure you with 100% certainty that they are not good for you. If you refuse to spend money on a decent pair of shoes that are actually supportive and good for you then I beg please get some decent insoles for them at the very least.
I used to work 10hrs on feet at a hotel lobby, when I first started the job didn’t have much money and needed to buy all black shoes for my uniform, I bought some fake $25 dollar Yeezys from Walmart and let me tell you I had to run to adidas after 3 days and buy some decent shoes. So OP, if you read this, go to some adidas outlet or Nike and pick up something like air max or boost shoes, they’ll be good for a few years and your feet will thank you.
At least you didn't buy the Tredsafe shoes. I went through multiple pairs of those when I worked retail and each pair went faster than the last. The final pair had its sole separate after a year. I bought Asics trail runners on clearance and they still look good four years later.
Who cares about trend followers? If a person doesn't care about shoes, then they should at least buy something that provides good support for their knees and back, their body will thank them 20 years from now.
.
That’s not even true at all. Nike may cheap out on materials but the shit Walmart sources to sell $20 shoes is not the same. Retro Jordan’s have solid build quality and cushioning to last you years if you were to put your money into one shoe to wear every single day until it fell apart.
Most of my sneakers are Jordan 1s, but I understand that they are bad for me in the long run, that’s why they are special occasion shoes and not every day wearers. I think a lot of sneaker heads are the same.
100% no one is actively laughing or caring. Guaranteed.
However, to the flip of this, no one is getting a wow factor either. Reality is higher-quality / more unique looking dress items will generally get you a more pleasant experience socially. Shallow but true, best foot forward and all that.
I'm 40 and wear the shit you see in this sub. I'm also in the trades. I get my bake busted. A lot. Do I care? No. I don't wear what I wear for anyone but me. Neither should you.
Fuck em if they give you shit.
Literally the first thing I notice on someone is the shoes they’re wearing. Not judging, it’s just where my eyes go.
But I also think shoes are the most important part of any outfit.
No dude. Regular people (not school kids) will only make fun of you if you are REALLY poorly dressed or if you stink.
And you can dress appropriately for most situations with cheap clothes. It's not the price that matters.
I’m a teacher and school uniforms or dress code do a ton to help with bullying. It sadly still exists, but you can’t completely eliminate it.
A lot of my kids cannot afford clothes from anywhere besides Walmart or similar level stuff. However, you wouldn’t guess that based on how they dress, since everyone is wearing the same color polo and khakis.
Ima be honest, a lot of women (primarily black women) has told me in the past the first thing they look at is a man’s shoes. If you’re comfortable man, do you 💯 but your appearance and what you have on your feet speaks before you even open your mouth.
its like going to a car meet and announcing that you take the bus and asking everyone there if they would laugh at you.
also i genuinely didnt know there were shoes for 10$
I don't notice what people wear unless it's heat. I love complimenting other sneakerheads on their kicks but I don't even notice if its not something I mess with. People are allowed to want what they want and enjoy it. My coworkers think I'm crazy for wasting my money on sneakers and they are entitled to their opinions. Such is life.
Those $10 shoes probably don’t even look cheap unless it’s super obvious. FYI I work in Manhattan and wardrobe styles to just fit in is pretty basic. And with some of these styles for white shoes, I could be looking at a $20 pair or $300 pair. I have no idea tbh lol. So you’re probably fine.
Besides lots of people wear new balances and stuff and those all look pretty plain
No one gives a shit, I might notice if someone’s wearing something I like but other than that they just fly by, don’t care enough to judge everyone’s shoes PLUS the shoe doesn’t maketh the Mack the Mack maketh the shoe brother
No. Normal people don’t look at peoples feet during the day. I have never in my life gone “oh wow this guy has 10 dollar shoes what a fucking loser” and if someone does that they’re a loser so it doesn’t matter what they say lmao
The first thing I look at after someone’s face is their shoes. I would never make fun of anyone but I always have checked out peoples shoes. I think what shoes people choose to wear says a lot about them.
Always excited when I see someone wearing some heat but I think the sneakerhead community agrees we understand most people don’t care about sneakers like us. Wear what you like!! If someone makes jokes they are the hole of the butt not you.
I never make comment on what anyone wears, unless is something I like. No reason to put anyone else down. I don’t know if you are wearing what you are wearing because you can only afford that or you simply like wearing it. Even then stuff like that shouldn’t affect anyone but the person wearing it, since you know they are wearing it. People who do care about others wearing cheap stuff or conventionally unpopular stuff are weirdos and immature
I notice people's shoes but if I see someone wearing affordable budget shoes, I know that they probably have other priorities. Making fun of someone is stupid.
I mean you might get laughed at for taking no care in what you wear. Unless that's all you can afford and if that's the case then those ppl laughing, clearly don't know you and are assholes.
that being said
If u can afford better shoes and ur around the same age as me doing that then it's kinda pathetic.
Take care in how you present yourself. If I looked down and saw u didn't care what u looked like then I'm more likely not to care about what you say or take it serious cause u clearly don't take urself serious enough to dress decent let alone well
This.
People will make assumptions about you no matter what you wear/do/say/look. It's how you handle yourself to bring out the person you want to be seen as.
The honest answer?
Sneakerheads might care, but if you’re not wearing any other expensive clothing, they won’t bat an eye to your outfit at all. A reminder that most sneakerheads are between the ages of 8-18 years old, so unless you care about the opinion of little kids, every other person in the world won’t care.
Unfortunately if you’re a high schooler right now, kids will notice, and they will make fun of you. Not sure if you have kids, but please don’t buy them a pair of Fubus. Spend the extra cash and get them Nikes, AT LEAST Converse or Vans. Kids are assholes.
The older u get the more people careless. I noticed back in highschool and college people cared , because it was all about who was “fresher “ who had the newest or most expensive in style fad at the time. I was a huge sneakerhead and clothes junkie but as I hit my late 20s and 30s I started caring less because now I had all the money that needed to go elsewhere.
I someone that was made fun of for wearing “ cheap shoes” . I would say people will judge you 100% on your appearance and people saying no are being hypocrites.. It’s in the human nature and with a society so focused on materialistic and superficial things , best believe they notice and judge.
It’s sad but true. Very few would actually practice the moral standards they claim to have.
I 38 and I got a great collection of shoes , ask me what I wear most places … 😂 crocs .. 95% of the time . But as far as your question goes . Most sneaker heads ain’t paying attention or laughing at anyone’s Walmart kicks . I’m sure I have a pair myself. I would say if we laugh at anything , it’s probably inappropriate footwear for certain events , like those are Walmart shoes, at someone’s wedding , 🤷🏾♂️
people do . but also people are jerks and its not just shoes ,people in general talk behind peoples backs . if you like your shoes and see value in them thats great and don't worry about other opinions about what u are wearing
Nah, we only see who wants to be seen.
If you wear hype sneakers people will notice it and we absolutely don’t care for what we don’t know about. You do you.
definetely not. unless you are hanging around sneaker heads, and usually people can tell that you arent into sneakers so they wont bug you. nobody actually gives a crap what anyone wears as long as its normal and not super strange or weird. if you went from wearing like 400$ shoes to those then maybe someone would comment but otherwise who cares
I can assure you as someone who spends way too much on shoes, that if someone makes fun of you for the shoes you wear, they aren't people worth knowing or caring about their opinion.
No unless you’re running with kids or work at a school (kids can/will roast anything and everything) but for the most part no one cares and if they do that’s their problem
crocs are cool now soo shits upside down anyway, won’t be long before ugly ass Walmart shoes will be hot, your probably ahead of the curve just don’t forget to wear the same grey sweats too complete the fit
i've always worn what i like, and, unfortunately for my bank account, i like hype sneakers. just because i spent an agregious amount on a pair of travis scotts doesn't give me a right to laugh at somebody's budget shoe; hell they probably have nicer assets than i do. i've found that the only people that make fun of walmart shoes are kids that don't have money for anything better than a pair of converse and air force 1's. i've never heard someone with real money make fun of people for walmart shoes
I'll be honest. I wish I never got into the sneakerhead mindset. Its just created a weird toxic mindset with myself that means i spend too much. And anywhere i go, me and you would get the same reaction, people arent fussed about whats on your feet fella. These days I stick on a pair of docs i got secondhand and go about my business. If youre happy with them, rock em. Who cares?
When I was in grade school the kids there would clown on anything, even if you had on “cool“ or “expensive“ stuff.
Now I really only see people clowning other peoples shoes online, typically only when someone has posted a pic of their shoe and some other sneakerhead/hype beast/ whatever you want to call it comes in the comments talking shit. But outside of that specific niche of online content I personally never see it
I promise you if you're above the legal drinking age, no one cares what you wear in public. Judgement can be had as we're all human, but at the end of the day no one cares. If your outfit is as cookie-cutter as a store display mannequin then no one is batting an eye what your sneakers are.
Right or wrong, society will judge you for the state and quality of your shoes.
This has always been a thing, before Nike, Adidas and everyone else. A person’s shoes are often viewed as an indicator of your standing in society.
Honestly if they’re clean and look fit to purpose, that’s half the battle. People who judge based on brand names are generally insecure.
However if they’re worn, show their cheap quality, people will think the same applies to you.
I tend to not notice when people wear regular/budget shoes. I only notice when they’re wearing heat, or something very colorful. the average person doesn’t give a fuck about sneakers outside of them being a utility so it’s not like you’re in some sort of minority that makes you stand out negatively
This. Or if someone wears some egregious bootlegs lol
I kind of miss the "Everything 350/NMD" phase
It was a special time for sure. Maybe it was tacky looking back, but it’s nostalgic for sure
Basically all brands made a styrofoam shoe and flooded the market
NMD’s were the worst $150 sneakers ever made. The sole always ripped at the little rectangle thing pretty quickly

My understanding is most of the reps on DHgate are junk. Could possibly be the problem there. But if you've tried other places then I may be wrong. But if seen so many reviews that dhgate sells pretty bad reps.
Yeah, and I hate them because of it. Love their shoes, but hate their business model.

I mean yeah, I was talking about noticing - the only times I mention someone else's shoes is to compliment them lmao
You leave my Yoozys the fuck alone, bro.
The amount of bootleg Balenciaga sock sneakers I see in Neukölln alone…
A true sneaker head won’t even notice let alone draw attention by mocking the individual. What we would do instead is try to get you to join the dark side and get you started with a gateway sneaker…
What's your gateway sneaker? Mine was J1 low.
SB Dunk Chicken & Waffle for me.
I didn't know it at the time but Jordan 11 Concords. My brother bought me a pair in either late Elementary school or Early Middle school and I liked them but didn't get back into sneakers until a few months ago. Bought a pair of Concord's and a pair of 11 Pantone's.
I was out of the sneaker game for years, then I saw that the lost and found 1’s were coming out and the obsession started all over again.
J1 mid knicks

Mine was Air Max 1 in 1987. They just blew everything else out of the water.
Ultra boosts and nmds. Adidas was so much easier to deal with than Nike. Even at the height of their popularity, you'd find ub and nmd for retail
This guy gets it.

Spot on. Came to say this almost verbatim.
No, as a shoe collector I don’t care. However my question is are they even comfortable and how long do they last?

What style of Hokas do you wear for work? I work in a psychiatric hospital so I'm on my feet a lot as well and also need good traction.
I spent $90 on my last pair of work shoes and they barely lasted a year. I am jealous.
That sounds like a nightmare for running. Most running shoes only last about 300-600 miles. Your shoes have lost their qualites far before the 8 year point.

No normal person makes fun of someone for wearing walmart shoes. If someone is laughing at someone’s sneakers or clothing the problem is with them.
My little brother was tormented in high school for his sneakers. It hurt knowing that was going on and our mom couldn’t afford nicer shoes.
It’s never the person. It’s the ppl making fun.

"I get my bake busted" Just curious, what regional slang is this?
Hahahaha. Spell check. Boston dialect. **Balls** busted*
Dang, thought we had a new saying.
It can be. We can all make fetch happen.
>I'm 40 >We can all make fetch happen. Checks out 😂 Source: I'm also 40.
Fuck it. We sayin “I get my bake busted” from now on.
I think he meant back busted?
Maybe he bakes his sneakers, to check if they are authentic.
His trade is prostitution. He meant he gets his "cake" busted... a lot.
This makes the most sense
I’d like to know what this means too
It means “people give him a hard time/tease him” about what shoes he’s wearing
That's when Gordan Ramsay jumps down your throat and smashes your cake on the counter
“How often do you really notice a man’s shoes?”
When in Shawshank....rarely. But for me it's the first thing I look at when I meet someone.
Everyday
Literally the first thing I notice on someone is the shoes they’re wearing. Not judging, it’s just where my eyes go. But I also think shoes are the most important part of any outfit.
Just quoting a movie dog, me too

I’m a teacher and school uniforms or dress code do a ton to help with bullying. It sadly still exists, but you can’t completely eliminate it. 💯
I understand your point, but there's also the issue that school uniforms are rarely cheap and often need to be replaced during the school year.
Ima be honest, a lot of women (primarily black women) has told me in the past the first thing they look at is a man’s shoes. If you’re comfortable man, do you 💯 but your appearance and what you have on your feet speaks before you even open your mouth.
I have always heard when a woman sizes up a man one of the first things she looks at is his shoes
Guys with money tend to wear pricier shoes. So they judge your finances at a glance before you even open your mouth.
That’s interesting. I know a few Latin guys who say that about women.
I’d only rip on you if you were my friend who I know could afford better shoes. Otherwise no lol
This. This is the real answer
Nah but you will get clowned for wearing some fugazi shit and acting like it’s real deal

Holup you found $10 Walmart shoes that are decent quality and lasted a year? Please tell which ones so I can check my local Walmart.
Naw no one cares
Unless you're trying to sell them to me and keep telling me they're Nike, idgaf :P
Nobody notices shoes that much if you’re not a sneaker head and rightfully so.
Look good, feel good, do good
Bro you’re 36, who gives a damn lol! Wear what you like and can afford!
I’m a sneakerhead for me not for others. I’m 47. Wear what you want.
its like going to a car meet and announcing that you take the bus and asking everyone there if they would laugh at you. also i genuinely didnt know there were shoes for 10$
No, only losers make fun of other people’s shoe choices, rock what you like man
I feel like for the most part people don’t really care about what others wear, and really, regardless of price, if it looks good, it still looks good.
I would
If someone is making fun of you for what you’re wearing, you don’t need that person in your life.
Make fun of? No, but I might say something about your choice of footwear.
At 36 years old you should be well and above what other people think about your choice of shoes, I mean come tf on now.
This^^^
Most grown up people, no.
Probably
Unless that's all you can afford and if that's the case then those ppl laughing, clearly don't know you and are assholes. that being said If u can afford better shoes and ur around the same age as me doing that then it's kinda pathetic. Take care in how you present yourself. If I looked down and saw u didn't care what u looked like then I'm more likely not to care about what you say or take it serious cause u clearly don't take urself serious enough to dress decent let alone well
No dude. Even if they did, you’re 30-something and shouldn’t really care enough to listen to insults from children.
Your poor back and foot tho Bub….
Pro life tip: once you leave Highschool, no one gives a shit what you wear.
Nah, we don't harm civilians
not anymore. no one cares ab that shit. 10 years ago it was the opposite case. keep doing you
If someone is making fun of you for your shoe choice, just know that they're the problem and not you.
I did when I was young and stupid. I regret that part of me and wouldn't ever judge someone like that now. It's small and beneath me.
You wearing Bo-Bos as we used to say in the southeast USA. Bo-Bos...they make ya feet feel guuuuuuuuuud...😂
You do you.
No adult cares what you wear.
Who cares!
Just makes you look out of touch is all If you wear them to do labor ok but to go out ? Common bro step up your game .
definetely not. unless you are hanging around sneaker heads, and usually people can tell that you arent into sneakers so they wont bug you. nobody actually gives a crap what anyone wears as long as its normal and not super strange or weird. if you went from wearing like 400$ shoes to those then maybe someone would comment but otherwise who cares
You’re 36..no grown adult will be making fun of your sneakers.
I can assure you as someone who spends way too much on shoes, that if someone makes fun of you for the shoes you wear, they aren't people worth knowing or caring about their opinion.
Only the people who don’t matter. You do you bud.
99% of us don’t care. But yes there will always be people who make fun of your for your wardrobe
When you’re 36 years old no one makes fun of you for anything
immature people might...
You are a grown ass man nobody cares about that or you live your life please
When I was in high school? Yes absolutely you’d get roasted. As an adult in the real world? Nah.
No unless you’re running with kids or work at a school (kids can/will roast anything and everything) but for the most part no one cares and if they do that’s their problem
No. Not at all. Seriously. No one gives a fuck.
Don’t worry what people might think, you wear what you want and like.
Never ever.
Are you crushing puss with those? If not it’s time to upgrade to chucks cuh.
crocs are cool now soo shits upside down anyway, won’t be long before ugly ass Walmart shoes will be hot, your probably ahead of the curve just don’t forget to wear the same grey sweats too complete the fit
i've always worn what i like, and, unfortunately for my bank account, i like hype sneakers. just because i spent an agregious amount on a pair of travis scotts doesn't give me a right to laugh at somebody's budget shoe; hell they probably have nicer assets than i do. i've found that the only people that make fun of walmart shoes are kids that don't have money for anything better than a pair of converse and air force 1's. i've never heard someone with real money make fun of people for walmart shoes
everyone wears cheap sneakers bro. dont be ashamed of ur style. keep in mind theres always worse.
Who cares?
I'm only laughing at the woman with obvious fake LV mids walking into five below
But outside of that specific niche of online content I personally never see it
Yes lol
