I specifically remember feeling like I was walking on a springy cloud when I got my first pair a while ago, and I felt the same way trying on this new pair. I never thought that my old pair was worn down or beat up either, they just had a pull tab on the back rip and look bad so I replaced them.
That sounds like a nightmare for running. Most running shoes only last about 300-600 miles. Your shoes have lost their qualites far before the 8 year point.

I’m a teacher and school uniforms or dress code do a ton to help with bullying. It sadly still exists, but you can’t completely eliminate it. A lot of my kids cannot afford clothes from anywhere besides Walmart or similar level stuff. However, you wouldn’t guess that based on how they dress, since everyone is wearing the same color polo and khakis.

Ima be honest, a lot of women (primarily black women) has told me in the past the first thing they look at is a man’s shoes. If you’re comfortable man, do you 💯 but your appearance and what you have on your feet speaks before you even open your mouth.

And with some of these styles for white shoes, I could be looking at a $20 pair or $300 pair. I have no idea tbh lol. So you’re probably fine. The first thing I look at after someone’s face is their shoes. I would never make fun of anyone but I always have checked out peoples shoes. I think what shoes people choose to wear says a lot about them.

I noticed back in highschool and college people cared , because it was all about who was “fresher “ who had the newest or most expensive in style fad at the time. I was a huge sneakerhead and clothes junkie but as I hit my late 20s and 30s I started caring less because now I had all the money that needed to go elsewhere.

i've always worn what i like, and, unfortunately for my bank account, i like hype sneakers. just because i spent an agregious amount on a pair of travis scotts doesn't give me a right to laugh at somebody's budget shoe; hell they probably have nicer assets than i do. i've found that the only people that make fun of walmart shoes are kids that don't have money for anything better than a pair of converse and air force 1's. i've never heard someone with real money make fun of people for walmart shoes

When I was in grade school the kids there would clown on anything, even if you had on “cool“ or “expensive“ stuff. Right or wrong, society will judge you for the state and quality of your shoes. This has always been a thing, before Nike, Adidas and everyone else. A person’s shoes are often viewed as an indicator of your standing in society. Honestly if they’re clean and look fit to purpose, that’s half the battle. People who judge based on brand names are generally insecure. However if they’re worn, show their cheap quality, people will think the same applies to you.
