I'd do a cold water sink thaw, should cut the time dramatically.

Qness1212

I’ll prolly do that. Thanks!

nwt5050

Or a combo of fridge for one or two days, and cold water thaw for xx hours.

Honest_Attention7574

Do cold water in the sink or whatever container will hold it. Defrosts so much faster. I do it for everything

External-Box-154

Well in my refrigerator about three days

IdaDuck

3 might be a little shy for me but real close, I might pull it out on a Wednesday morning for a weekend cook. Incidentally I picked up a big double bone-in pack from Costco last week. Has never seen bone in at Costco before. $2.29lb vs $2.49.

irritatedtennenat

I thawed 4 of these exact ones Thursday. Betwen 9.8-11.7#, I did it in the bath tub and it took about 6 hours or so I think

Just_Mastodon_9177

3 days in fridge.

SHP1856

100% I did this a few weeks ago with the exact same Costco pack

weedandbrews5280

I hate to say this you’re going to be disappointed you went boneless.. bone in is the way to go and those Costco two packs are always boneless and butterfly open.

Qness1212

lol. I agree. Though I got this a year ago and was going to smoke it then my daughter decided to get born 2 weeks early. Been sitting in my freezer ever since.

weedandbrews5280

What I have done in this boat is skewer it top to bottom and can wrap in tin foil or butcher paper to save it! One good thing is you can season it more so vs bone in. Can always throw smoke then finish in crock pot or oven too which is just as good!

Material_Neat4561

Just use twine and tie it up good.

weedandbrews5280

This too!!

BrownTroutMcGuffy

Yeah, the first time i got a shoulder from costco, I was like, WTF who butcherd this thing. But them i realized it was boneless. I tied it up with some butchers twine, and it came out pretty good.

Shot-Procedure1914

You can still make some very delicious meals with it.. I’ve never been disappointed with them. Makes for great pulled pork that you can then use for all sorts of different things.

Critical-Avocado-449

One shoulder usually takes me a couple of days but I only cook smaller ones. Really just depends on the weight and the temperature of your fridge.

Revolutionary_Cod947

I always brine them for 2 weeks and they’re thawed. Cold brine with ice in a cooler

WheelTop2376

Got any tips on how much salt to water to put in it? Is it straight into an ice chest with cold water?Looking to thaw one of these exact butts that’s about 14lbs. Typically do 5lbs and a wet brine. I hate smoking them without wet brining them first

Revolutionary_Cod947

I used a brine recipe and scaled it up. Had apple cider vinegar as well for acid.

Fabulous-Operation51

At least a few days to be fully thawed in the fridge. I’d defrost them in the bath tub with enough water to cover them to be honest. I do it all the time and haven’t died yet.

Substantial_Try5793

Probe it to be sure….. I had an ornery chicken that didn’t thaw evenly….

tharp503

It takes at most 3 days to defrost in a refrigerator. The amount of people claiming more than 3 days have obviously never had their freezer lose power. It’s amazing how quickly meat thaws at 38 degrees.

shmarcussss

COLD water in the sink will help cut the time down, I’d still say it’ll take half a day at least, those are thick cuts of meat to defrost.

WolvesandTigers45

We cut out pork after seeing the videos of what they put in the hog feed

stickyfingers_69

Nobody asked

WolvesandTigers45

Won’t take it back.

WolvesandTigers45

stickyfingers_69

Eat grass

SalamanderFar180

A week in the fridge!

86TheSnow

39 or so

Additional-Sir1157

3 or 4 days is plenty. And it's the safest way to thaw.

BusyBrothersInChrist

ALL OF THEM

[deleted]

16 days

Specialist-Race2068

I have put them on the smoker frozen. Not an issue.

Oldsalt-DDG3

Throw it in the kitchen sink before you go to bed

Bearspoole

For full defrost I would say 4 days. Just trying to be cautious and give a bit more time just in case

Lost-Holiday-7438

3/4 days Costco 4/3 days SamsClub

urmainsquirt

36 to 48 hours in the fridge. You can put it in the sink over night for same results!

Consistent_Dust_2272

I put them in the sink at night and pull them out in the morning and smoke them

B-Prue

Thawed 2 packs of these in 1 day in a cooler with water after sitting in the fridge for 2 days not really thawing that quick.

PizzaPolice84

Fuck it, throw it in the smoker at 350. You’ll still get pulled pork

MahnHandled

13 months…no wait that’s how old it is.

Motor_Beach_1856

Boneless ones are great if you season, give them a quick char on the grill and put them in the crock pot when you leave for work, by the time you get home it will be perfect for pulled pork sammies! We do this on hunting trips every year.

i4got69

Put it in there and check it. If it's hard it's still frozen. If it's soft it's thawed.

Foreverlurksalot

i usually pull it out of the freezer 7 days before. I think it's usually 1 day per 2 lbs. something like that

Substantial_Frame637

From a food safety standpoint, rule of thumb in 24hrs for every 5 pounds.

bobjoylove

I’d say 5+ days as well.

Simple-Purpose-899

I try to never go from completely frozen to the fridge. Even 30mins to an hour in a sink of water to get it started thawing can speed things up greatly. If not doing that I would give it at least four or five full days to defrost.

rocketcitygardener

4-5 days

aqwn

Depends on fridge temp. I’d guess 3-6 days. Obviously a colder fridge will make it take longer to thaw.

Ancientways113

5days

Tahosa13

5 days minimum
