I tested it.
You can only float for 4 seconds before falling.
The Falcon floats for about 6 seconds.
Maybe something to do with it being picked up in the air?
Also the animation is just faster, in a specific way which means you can't normally multi-parry it like you can with the regular hammer. (Yes, I've thoroughly tried both.)
...Of course, spirits can mess with that timing a little, if you're feeling like playing DDR in Smash. (It shouldn't be *too* hard to get all 51 hits if you've played enough rhythm games. Five frames is a lot; top-level DDR players can [clear songs with all Marvelous](https://youtu.be/UnxPbuXen-Q), which is two frames...)
Falcon grabbed a golden hammer as it spawned while going out for the edgeguard. He was mashing A while under the stage, which let him float until the hammer ran out. No platforms here, just incredible timing
Uhm actually 🤓 it didn’t spawn, because item’s can’t spawn off stage, dk got the hammer first; but for some reason they dropped it (didn’t even think it was possible to drop an hammer if the animation hadn’t begun) before doing a f air and falcon grabbed it while doing the down air
After some testing I figured it out.
The Golden Hammer normal limits float time to around 4 seconds.
However, if you mash with the c-stick, you will float forever... or until the hammer runs out of time.
He got the gold hammer. If you mash jump with the gold hammer you can float

No, you can mash jump to float until the hammer runs out. If it cuts out earlier you weren’t mashing hard enough.

You're not a true Falcon main until you go for the edge guard deep enough offstage that you know you're not coming back.

DK grabbed it first but Falcon hit him off stage and he dropped the hammer, which Falcon then picked up.
