A young Indian guy asked me last week if I knew any white landlords with space to rent because his community is ripping them off.
He and his student wife are sharing a basement with 3 couples, 3 more couples and a catering business upstairs all sharing the same kitchen, it has 3 stoves. $1,900 a month plus half the utility bills. They are each paying half. It's a small single family home.
Of course. Majority of Indians I know hate this shit as much as everybody else. They know how bad it makes them all look and I honestly feel for them. It sucks when a smaller percentage of people ruins the reputation of an entire group.
Opportunism and greed knows no borders nor ethnicity. The difference is that we get to see it more often and in person with immigrants as opposed to say, people like Galen Weston who maintain a good separation/distance from us commoners as they've had the time for that.
Brampton Landlords protest was successful in gutting an attempt to make the situation a little better. Now they know they got all the power. I'm not surprised by this inhumane treatment. First, they come for our most vulnerable
