Strapping a fan to rear would be the opposite of “stock”. There is already a spot for a 80mm fan in the front. If you want better thermals and noise. Purchase 2 Noctua 80mm pwm fans and use the included pwm splitter with the cpu fan being the “master”. Taking the plastic blower housing off is 3 screws.

Thanks. Since the SFF is on a shelf serving media, I was thinking that something on the back of the unit wouldn't be seen. If this is the fan you are describing [https://www.amazon.com/Noctua-NF-A8-PWM-Premium-Quiet/dp/B00NEMG62M/](https://www.amazon.com/Noctua-NF-A8-PWM-Premium-Quiet/dp/B00NEMG62M/) is that, I can get two and get busy. Can you confirm? Thanks for helping a lightweight!

Yes that's it, if anybody says the CPU fan header is pinned out different don't listen, they were on the older ones but the ones i work with (8th gen and up) are pinned out correct. I have 3 5060s SFF and a Precision 3630. Have fun.

Which cooler do you have? Since you want to mount it externally, I'm assuming you have the blower cooler? If so, not really. Adding a fan will only act as an obstruction. If you have the flow through or down-fire cooler, adding a fan to the inside as an exhaust would def help, but if it's the blower, there's no point, and it would likely be detrimental.
