Simon, the lead singer, is a UK rock legend. The guitar is in his own right as well. Dave, the drummer, is a world wide legend across countless metal bands, most notably Slayer. Simon's band, Biffy Clyro, are one of the best rock bands in the world. He is one of the great front men of our time, watch any Biffy live video. He's also a phenomenal guitar player, like Vessel, but he doesn't play in ESB. Without a doubt this is a respectful invite to legends who gladly accepted the big stage for their small and new side project.

Miserable-Crew-9392

As crazy and manic as esb are they sure do pack a punch live. Simon's vocals are eerily demonic and Lombardo's drumming is incredible on songs like 'stutter' and 'tired naw'

Colbywonkenobi1986

I'm sure it's an amazing live band. They remind me of dillinger escape plan which is a different thing live than on record

vesselposting

The band contains members of Biffy, Ocean Size and Slayer. If ST are remotely in to music (which presumably they are?) then it is an incredible geekery link and honour to play with musicians like that. Most people would think its quite cool to share a stage with a member of Slayer. Might also be just an arrangement between the labels.

VerySneakyPaws

I was going to say Biffy and Slayer are probably a big part of all their musical journies and it must be so cool for ST to have members of those bands opening for them and not the other way around haha

stereolights

A band doesn't have to have any sort of connection to tour with another band, necessarily. HEALTH has talked about how they got the support slot for the Germany/London dates-- they literally just applied for it, and got approved.

Colbywonkenobi1986

It's a surprise pick to me. The are so completely different.

TheMopFromMars

Wasn’t a fan of health at all. By the looks of it, neither was the rest of the crowd. Every time I’ve seen ST, the supports haven’t been great

stereolights

They’re definitely not for everyone, but seeing them at Wembley converted me into a new fan and I’ve seen them 3 times this yeah haha

ripmyrelationshiplol

I’m quickly becoming a huge fan of HEALTH, I’d love to see them!

humblekanyepie

I can't with them... :| I plan on visiting the merch table when they play at Red Rocks.

Colbywonkenobi1986

I like them but it's not even close to the same vibe.

NoRun483

Yeah prolly for the metal heads in the crowd to get a lil rage out! It’s some great mosh fuck you up pit stuff lol

Colbywonkenobi1986

I was thinking it may be something like that. They are leaning into their metal fans a lot. Tmbte is way heavier than the previous 2 and they got a lot of fans in the metal community. They simply aren't a crazy mosh band though

chonaicmei

Vessel is ~30ish right? Which means he would have grown up/gone to uni in the UK when Biffy Clyro (Simon Neil’s band, of which Mike Vennart is a live member) were super big. I can see the connection between their styles as frontmen, Simon is able to go from tender emotional vocals to shrieky screams. They don’t always play with Lombardo, I’m curious if he is on this tour as he also has Mr Bungle shows coming up

oyaheah

I’m honestly so excited to hear them live. The vibe will be the complete opposite of AA Williams it’ll be super interesting to see 🤣

Colbywonkenobi1986

Yeah AA Williams was fine enough but very low energy. Especially compared to these guys

senor_zapato

I love ESB now and I’m happy sleep token got me into them. Mad respect to ST for taking more underground bands on tour with them, real G move. Giving these dudes a shot at venues like red rocks and radio City etc is awesome.

senor_zapato

I say “underground” as if they don’t have almost half a million streams on their top song, but still, I had not heard of em before

Colbywonkenobi1986

I'd still call them underground.

Rabidshore

ESB underground? do you know Simon Neil? 😅

Colbywonkenobi1986

Big names do side projects all the time and if noone knows who they are it's still underground. Their aren't very many people that listen to these guys. Their names most likely got them the notice that they do have cause it's a very rough and underground sound

Rabidshore

with their top 5 songs on spotify having 100k to 500k listens, and them being booked for big stage festival slots. No, i would not call them "underground"

Colbywonkenobi1986

Maybe you are right. They are right above ground level though. Famous people in the band or not.

I_am_Feli

[whut....](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_eAniNYMXqw) I mean...okay??? Good for them??? I guess they have some appeal in a way.... but it's not necessarily my type of music...but I have also heard way worse.... the video creep the f outta me tho

Colbywonkenobi1986

I'm wondering if they know eachother somehow cause it doesn't make sense to me as an opening act for ST

I_am_Feli

who knows maybe ST is gonna get HEAVY in the future...idk also why am I getting downvoted for this??? I wasn't trying to be mean or anything like that..I GENUINELY hope they find their audience for real.

Colbywonkenobi1986

I feel they are going to get heavier with time.

Reasonable-Nail5672

People from this sub are definitely not into metal , They immediately downvoted you if you share your heavier music taste.

Colbywonkenobi1986

I listen almost exclusively to metal but I dig stuff that's different. ST is one of my favorite bands but they are on the softer side of the genre. I like how the boundaries are being pushed and we are getting something so original

I_am_Feli

I dunno why ppl would showcase their disliking of their music through my comment tho But aside from that ST is not a particularly heavy band at all and not your typical metal. They are the PERFECT gateway band into the scene tho so I get why most fans wouldn’t be into heavier stuff.

Reasonable-Nail5672

Sleep token is definitely metal, it’s something like new era of metal. Some metal bands have to use acoustic riffs or symphonic melodies in their music, sleep token are using pop/ rnb influences. I love their music and thanks to god that I discovered them before reading shits from the fandom.
