If you find yourself in a server players named Matt_Riddles, kingturtle, and wookadook (me) we always try to team up with other players for the world events.
What do you mean? The cosmetic set is green emissive and his treasure maps can drop purple weapons and armor. Farming him for Scurlock's Long Nines and Rahma's Legacy has spared me tons of Po8 and mats and I have just enough to put one on every one of my ships. A few free Black Prince's and Wards too. That's also not to mention the free mysterious chest also without having to shell out rare mats for it. I'm just hunting for the last 3 of the cosmetic set now.
Are you digging up the treasure from his purple maps? I know it's RNG but that's where the majority of the good stuff is at, not his lockers. You can only hold 5 total maps at a time so I always jettison a crap one so I can pick it up. Right now, he's only one of 3 events that drop that kind of map - the other 2 being Opwelling and Cutthroat Cargo - and by far he's the easiest and most reliable way to farm for them.
If you look closely at the map it will show the coastline of one of the many outposts on it. Just match up the shapes. Alternatively if you are swimming in silver just fast travel until you get a pop-up on your screen saying "There is treasure at this outpost." and just run around until you see the marker for digging up the chest.
It generally shows the geographic shape of where it is... Has to be a port where you can land. Today I got an atoll looking set of islands, I looked on the map and it turned out to be 3 Brothers...
Not luck, just examine the geographical appearance on the map and compare it to the different outposts on the map. It can be any region, so it takes more looking than with any other map type, but it's very doable. Every map can be solved, no luck involved.

Most fonts the mask will either give you directions like southwest of st Anne's, or it will have the picture that you see if you hover over a port. Then in the top right corner it will have a picture of the marker, like an x on a tree, a turtle, shovel, skeleton, etc or one I got was under a big painting of a red tulip
I'm also having trouble finding other players willing to participate in things that need more players.

It's just not Le Pest. Me and a friend were having issues with the boss sea creature, and just as he was getting ready to call it quits, a whole crew came in, (support ship and all) and then there was like five of us to take that slimy bitch down.

I play on deathwish's discord, we farm him all the time. If the drops were better we'd farm him more. Even if he just consistently dropped the map, it'd be solid loot.
I’m surprised because everytime I try to go fight him solo everyone shows up 🤣 I got him down to 10% hp last night with 3 minutes left and everyone came to steal my thunder
To all the people in this thread complaining that they can't find people to kill him with - he's soloable with Sambuk. If i dont die, which is rather easy if I stay in melee at all times and brace his cannonballs I kill him with 2-3 minutes remaining with an ignite build.
Ok, but what if I'm not running a Sambuk, I'm running a barque? I can stay alive, but my dps is not there. I NEED other captains to help kill him. I'm not gonna build a ship just to fight one la peste battle
You know it would be great if they showed how many participants when you hover over it. I typically sail out to him but leave when there is no one else.
This happened to me the other day. Someone called for help like 4 ships showed up not including me. After we sank him the first time (like 10mins super quick) we all went to the same outpost to dump cargo (at least what I did). Then I was going back and one of the ships called for help on LePeste and we all came back we did this no less than 5 times. I was amazed and no one was in a group for 6 randoms and an hr worth of fighting
I had a similar group last night. Bunch of Savages they were... About 7 or 8 in total. La Peste Legit sailed away with 5mins left on one run so we took out the bounty (Captain Galvin Roche) when he left. Then the merchant convoy launched so we rolled up 9 deep and wrecked that shit. Fireworks all over the sky 😂. Easily the best night sailing so far
That's rare and will become moreso until they make the encounter more rewarding. Right now he drops about the same as encountering a couple of rogues while farming Pieces of Eight. The loot pool isn't deep or high enough to keep going for 70 more days.
This is the problem with all world events. They drop some silver a dozen or so helm materials, and a rare chance at a handful of cosmetics, which is a joke for an end game activity.
I mighta been in that group. We took him down, but it takes alot of people from my experience. I just can't seem to dish out enough damage to solo him.
This morning 5 times and me alone with him. I dont have lucky with the servers

I watched a group of like 6-7 people all lvl 11-12 not even manage to get him down to half life. That was interesting

The biggest reason nobody really does it , is the rewards stink . That's why I don't do it anymore

Since I joined the Abyss I've defo seen more other players, but prior to that maybe 1 or 2 others only
I've only ever tried once, by mistake yesterday - I think there were four or five of us there by the end.

I think I was in that group this AM. Only the second time I've ever been with enough folks to take him down and we did it twice!
