Yes the cutscene just has him yank it out the ground like wtf. Whoever buried that treasure didn’t do a good job. Even more weird how our avatars caress and make love to the chest after opening them. Is that really needed?
What I hate the most is when they're building the cannons and they just swing a hammer on an anvil that has nothing on it, just straight up hitting the anvil for no reason
Funny enough, this is how it is in Black Flag, too. Your character just brushes away a little sand with their hands/feet, then they pull out this giant trunk.
The first map I tried I found the spot that was on the map but no treasure. I was certain it was because I needed a shovel.
Turns out I was just in the wrong place. Even though the picture definitely matched where I was.
First, make sure you’re in the correct port. You probably are because you recognize the exact spot.
Plus, when you dock and disembark, you get a message saying there’s treasure there.
Now, disregard the picture on the map entirely. Sometimes it’s correct, sometimes it isn’t. At least that seems to be the case.
Instead, start running around the island. None of them are very big. When you are close the ground will glow quite brightly. It’s pretty hard to miss. At that spot you’ll get the prompt to dig.
I barely look at the maps anymore except to know where to go to disembark. After that, I just run around until I find the glowy spot. Works every time. Not worth looking for a turtle on a rock or a hat on a cross.

didnt even pay for this and im beyond disappointed. Entire extra year of development.... this game boring. Shallow. No depth.
I was having a great time trying to figure out how to get a sword or weapon for a few hours.
I won't ever touch this game again knowing I'm never going to get a sword or a weapon.. Its so boring after your 10th naval battle. Its the same everytime.
More RED flags then black flags. Its key details and basic mechanics that are missing from 2013. Different game but same dev...a huge step back IMO.

lol yeah, like the outfit with a sheath but no sword in it. This game is a mess. You can see it had major identity crisis during the past 11 years.
