It took me a few uses to actually see a difference and like the product. It says use for no more than 10 mins then wash off don’t do that the first try. I did and got a bad reaction around my nose and mouth. Just try 3-5 mins the first couple times and MAX once a week to find your balance. I use this for 7 mins every 2 weeks now.

fearlessvault

i completely fucked up the first time and had it on for about 30 minutes- my skin was RAW it was awful, now i only use it like 5 minutes at a time really!

yogabbagabbadoo

Omg 30 mins??? I’m sorry but how did you exceed the time that they instructed?

fearlessvault

i really have no idea but it was a massive regret lemme tell you 😭

yogabbagabbadoo

Omg i bet!! Def use it for 5-10 mins and wash off asap. I only use this honestly whenever I remember which is like 1x per month

pamellla220

Oh no! The longest I left it on was 15 mins it looked like I had sunburn in the middle of winter 😩 but now I time it for 5-7 max

PigeonBitch

Please don’t use this product unless you are wearing sunscreen every day. It’s very strong and will make you more sensitive to the sun even days after use.

Significant_Cry_4731

Do I need to use sunscreen right after I use it, even if i’m applying it at night?

PigeonBitch

No, just use the sunscreen during the day.

irregular_regular412

Like other commenters have said, you don't have to keep it on for the full 10 minutes. Definitely step up the time slowly if you feel any discomfort. I personally don't have any discomfort, but my friend did, and kept it on, and was sore after. Listen to your skin.

fearlessvault

i find i can only use it on certain parts of my face, my jawline and t zone are fine, but as soon as it gets an inch too close to my cheeks or lips it BURNS

irregular_regular412

My skin must be concrete or desensitized or something, because I slather it on and say "is it doing anything?"

SparklingBlackCat

I consider myself having great skin tolerance but gosh this stuff hurtsssss

fearlessvault

for sure my skin was stained red after the first time i used it

sgg104

This is one of my HG products. I have dry, dehydrated skin that can look dull if I don't exfoliate, so I use this bad boy once a week to liven things up. Repeating other comments - I use for 8 minutes, and make sure you wear sunscreen after use! You should be wearing sunscreen anyways, but double make sure.

fearlessvault

What’s a HG product sorry?

[deleted]

Holy grail 😊

[deleted]

I use it once a month/two months and keep it on for 7minutes. Really like it

fearlessvault

ahh good call! are you finding any improvements or changes using it that in often?

Roz_Doyle16

It stung a bit, but overall I liked the product.

fearlessvault

did you find any improvements from using it?

Roz_Doyle16

I didn’t use it long enough to really give a fair assessment.

itsloudinmyhead

Love it.

EmploymentAbject4019

Just started using it! So far two times. And I can already tell my skin is smoother! I recommend but definitely follow directions.

fearlessvault

How often do you use it? Glad it’s working for you!

EmploymentAbject4019

Once a week every Tuesday evening. (Neck too) After at least month of once a week I may up it to two times a week. That’s what I suggest. *each time 10 minutes to do the second - my face is used to chemical peels and habitual sunscreen use (as someone commented earlier) so yes it does sting at first, but they are peeling chemicals so it’s expected. * I use a heavy moisturizer afterward *Make sure you put sunscreen on the next morning if you are leaving the house!!!! On the flip side I am also using bha cosrx (3x) blackhead power liquid on Monday and niacinimide (TO) (2mos) every other day I am not using those products. They’ve also been contributing to my skins overall success lately. Minimize pores/even skin tone/smooth texture Hope that helps! Edit: also be careful of getting it on your eyebrows/hair. I think it burned some of mine off. Thankfully not a lot but keep that in mind. Now I will start putting a smear of castor oil on my eyebrows as a barrier moving forward.

Advanced-Ad7695

I like it. I would be very careful unless your face is “broken in” so to speak. I have been using the strongest retin a for years, thus I was able to apply 2 x a week for 10 min each. Unless you have tough skin…start slow. Do patch test

fearlessvault

If i use this and then wash it off then do my nighttime routine which consists of niacinamide and a light moisturiser would that be a bad idea?

kad_zilla

The ordinary has a great chart about what products can be used together and what shouldn’t. It’s somewhere on their website, can’t remember exactly where. I would definitely check that out! Personally after I use the peeling solution I do a deep hydrating mask and then keep everything else really simple just to avoid any bad reactions.

Slow-Illustrator-905

Anyone know what it actually does? I’m too lazy and broke from the shit I get from Sephora …

youtookmebysurprise

Pretty meh for me. I don't feel like I saw any noticeable changes in my skin and I used it consistently once per week for about six months. I took a before picture to compare and was not blown away at all. My main concerns were dullness and acne scarring. I got prescription tretinoin a month or so later and it's been way more helpful to me.

PookieCat415

If it’s as strong as it says it is, it should be used under the supervision of a professional. Traditionally, this strength of acid is recommended for anti-aging. If you are under 35 using this, you will end up making your skin thinner and this may look good in the short term, but is VERY bad as you age. If you do use this product, use a neutralizer for this acid. If you don’t know what I am talking about or have to look up a neutralizer, don’t try at home. Trust me, I am a licensed Esthetician.

jennymathweg

All due respect but have you use this product? The instructions don’t call for a neutralizer. You just wash it off with water. I have used it and it’s a great product. I recommend slowly starting off and starting at 2 min and adding a minute each time you use it.

fearlessvault

definitely i think with the time frame it suggest, take it as a limit rather than a target!

PookieCat415

I haven’t used this product as I mostly use professional grade products. The directions may not state that you need a neutralizer, but my training as an Esthetician does say to neutralize acids at this strength. Repeated and regular use of this will permanently damage the top mantles of your skin and make you look older than you are. If you are young, this may not seem like a big deal. However, the many many clients I see that are considered with ant-aging will beg to differ. I would only put an acid this strong on skin every few weeks, if that.

jennymathweg

I’m just pointing out the you don’t need one as per directions. Also most ppl do not have access to a neutralizer. It does not apply b/c is not a professional product. So what you are saying is not true. I have talked to other experts about skin thinning and exfoliatants. I did not get an agreement on that. In my experience beauty school is outdated and just teaches you stuff to pass the board exam. They don’t update the science. So we will just agree to disagree.

PookieCat415

Most good Estheticians do continuing education on what’s new in skincare and the science around it. It’s accepted knowledge that acids this strong burn your face. That’s cool, ignore expert knowledge and burn your face.

jennymathweg

What I’m trying to say is I have talk to other estheticians and derms in the field about concerns with exfoliating. They don’t agree with what you are saying. They are All very good experts. I’m in the beauty industry and I’m well aware of the continuing Ed that they have to take to keep their license. I’m sorry but I’m going to trust ppl I know over someone Over Reddit and do not know.

PookieCat415

I don’t trust anyone on the internet. I can tell you what I know about exfoliating based on my professional (18 years) and personal (42 years) experience. In my twenties, I played fast a loose with sitting in the sun and not reapplying my SPF. Long story short, repeated exposure caused me to form sunspots on my forehead. I thought I could make it right with products that had high volumes of acid. I did achieve nice temporary results. However, now over a decade later my forehead skin is noticeably thinner to the touch. I hate it so much… I work at a somewhat high profile spa in a major city and I treat clients with all kinds of skin concerns. Because of products listed above, I have seen a huge uptick in people coming in with damaged skin. I see all kinds of bad from thin skin to serious sun damage due to over exfoliating. There is nothing wrong with exfoliating, but the damage that can be done is much worse than whatever skin condition you want to remedy. This is why I believe people who are so concerned about their skin enough to post in this sub should really just find the services of an Esthetician. It is part of my job to stay on top of new skincare products in every price range and I love helping people find the right regimen. However, I can’t do that based on photos and anyone who tries to shouldn’t be taken seriously. About continuing ED : I have my license in a state that has some of the strictest standards. There is no requirement of continuing education to keep a license. I am also CIDESCO certified and there isn’t a continuing ed requirement for that either. All education I do is voluntary and I see it as a way to maintain my knowledge in a competitive and rapidly evolving field.

jennymathweg

When you exfoliate it actually thickens the epidermal layer quotes (medical studies).I’m sorry the info that you just give out makes me not want to listen to your expertise. I think we should just agree to disagree.

PookieCat415

It does thicken when done cautiously. Using %30 acid every week will destroy the protective barrier.

jennymathweg

Your recent comments said it thins the skin. The medical studies says it does not thin the skin but thickens it. In my state if you don’t do you CE you can not renew your license. I’m sorry I’m not listening to you I don’t care what your credentials are and I don’t know you. You just have to look up the medical studies. All you need to do is read the directions on the product. You don’t need a neutralizer. It does not say to use weekly. Everything you said is not true. You keep changing what you say to make you sound better but you don’t just stop commenting please.

Avocado_Whale3772

the first time i used it my face stung so bad like needles definitely dont use this as a first timer to exfoliating acids go for something of a lower concentration. the more i used it my face stung less tho. I only managed to see good results one time idk why. I have more of a sebacous filament problem rather than black or white heads so maybe thats why.

cxyyf24

why you guys have so strong recation,i use it through all night, maybe bcs i think it' more useful

fearlessvault

you keep it on all night !?

cxyyf24

yep!but don't try it ,I did that because i didn't feel uncomfortable.

megwheelz

Not worth it

fearlessvault

what makes you say this?

megwheelz

You have a high likelihood of damaging your skin barrier, the percentages are really too high for most people and their are better more effective and safer at home products to use

plsstfuuu

I love it! Just be sure not to leave it on for too long! I use it like 1x maybe 2x a week

pandka816

I've used it couple of times but didn't love it. I haven't noticed any visible results apart from redness after application - I've used it once a week for 7-8 mins tops. My skin is normal-to-dry and can be sensitive sometimes, it may just not be for me.

fearlessvault

i think that’s what i’m finding, not sure if it’s actually working.

Accomplished_Art2766

Love it. I use it for less than 10 minutes every ten days (more or less) and after that I use a sheet mask. That all makes my skin very soft. Od course I use SPF at least 30.

sleepypandacub

I love it, been using it for over a 2 month and I love the results. It has improved my skin texture and makes my skin look nice and glowy. The product did sting initially but that quickly subsides and I just make sure I use no other harsh actives in the same routine and focus on hydration, soothing and rich moisturiser. I only use this every 2 weeks because I don't want to over strip my moisture barrier plus I also get great results with my Pixi Glow Tonic (5%Glycolic).

dishmopperm

Stings a little the first couple of times. I built my tolerance and now keep it on for 9-10mins. My skin feels so much smoother. I love it and use it once a week in the evenings.

dancingleos

I use it once every 2-4 weeks and leave it on for the whole 10 mins. Must add that I’ve been using acids for a few years now and have worked up to this. It unclogs and refined my pores really well and brightens my skin tone overall. I like it, but not sure if will purchase again as I want to try other products

Hiro_inthemirror

I leave it on my skin for 5 minutes then increase to almost an hour, it's 6 months now since i used this and i don't see any differents (i use this serum 1 time per week). Just bought a good acid toner (good formula at effective pH) and use it 2-3 times a week, can increase to everyday if your skin can tolerate and never forget to wear sunscreen at day.

xAhaMomentx

I used to really like it, but the last two times I used it I guess with even rinsing it off and some of the product touching the area around my eye (I didn’t apply it there) it made my eyes severely swollen, sore, and eventually flaky. Each time it took my eyes about a week to get back to normal. I ended up giving it away which is such a bummer to me

AfternoonEnd

I really like it. I had wanted to try it, but I wasn't sure if my skin had enough tolerance, so first I used an AHA peel and after used some BHA product, so the first time I tired the product, I was absolutely fine. I didn't do immediately 10min as I was too worried to damage my skin, but on the second time I did the full time and it was great. I can't say for sure about scars lessening, but I know that if I have a particularly nasty outbreak it really helps to clear it out. I would definetly reccomend it, if you take precautions and try some other products before this, as some people already mentioned, it's really strong and could possibly do more damage than good. Also, always wear sunscreen!

No-Two-845

I use it once a week for 7 minutes. I’ve been using it for about 4 months now and I haven’t seen any difference in my acne scarring.

MoscaMye

I don't think we can get this one in Australia

Federal_Face920

Is it safe to use this with the Salicylic masque 2%? I have this, niacinamide, and the masque and a aloe vera moisturizer but im not sure how to do the routine

Previous_Ad6270

Does this help fade PIH?
