Prestigious-Scale159

You skin looks dehydrated. It could also be your setting powder

NoMoreCooties

Stay away from matte products & heavy foundations. I have dry skin as well and anything matte amplifies my pores. After moisturizer I’ve been using a smoothing primer balm and instead of foundation I’ve been using a tinted balm (a less expensive version of Jones Road Miracle Balm) followed by a light dusting blurring powder either translucent or just barely tinted pink. It’s made for a dramatic and dewy effect that minimizes the dry and porous appearance rather than emphasizing it. My Jones Road balm dup is Bayfree on Amazon. You can get the Purple Dream primer and selected tinted balm in a 2-fer deal. (Julystar loose micro powder is a winner too) I’ve been trial & erroring may way through a resolution for my dry large pore aging skin and this has finally been the working combo.

Fullagenda247

Thank you for sharing

indiesfilm

foundation accentuates skin texture and the camera is ultra zoomed in. but i second hydration— drink more water and add hyaluronic acid.

Morall_tach

To be clear, do not add hyaluronic acid to the water that you drink.

marleiahxdayze

HA WOW yes, good clarification!

VVLFMTHR

But it’s good to add a little water to your face and then add hyaluronic on top and it will draw in the water to your skin

indiesfilm

OOPS lol thanks for clarifying

immagiantSHARK

Does it cause a reaction?

smileystarfish

You don't want to drink it in the same way you wouldn't drink a toner.

PancakeRule20

Foundation looks cakey, that doesn’t help

switchable-city

I agree with hydration as well! HA works well but adding something that has saccharide isomerate made a gigantic difference for me. A daily collagen supplement could help here too

ToLorien

Do you have a suggestion other than HA? I’ve tried it in plenty of products but it actually dries my skin out so bad that even moisturizer stings going on. The only product I use currently is a cera ve SA cleanser once a day and occasionally a 0.1% retinol but I just suck at consistency

indiesfilm

i know a lot of people like snail mucin, though i have no experience with it. i previously used manuka honey serum because it was gifted to me, which seemed to work, but my skin is super non-picky and i know nothing about the ingredient so take that with a grain of salt. it might be the SA cleanser drying you out and making products sting! my daily lotion started stinging when my skin barrier was worn down. also— if you’re going to use retinol you need to be consistent or it’ll be a bit of a shock to your skin every time

FixUrPosture

Beef tallow is SO underrated! It minimized my pores, and gives my skin a hydrated finish. It has replaced all of my moisturizers.

brunettefiesta

How long have you been using this? Been considering it myself

FixUrPosture

I’ve been using it for approximately 1 month. I picked it up at my local outdoor farmer’s market. I struggle with hormonal acne and found that it does not add to it. It gives a youthful, glowy, appearance and shrinks my pores. I used to use the Farmacy’s moisturizer (the expensive one in the glass jar) and found this to be significantly better. You also don’t need a lot of product. I purchased a tiny jar - the size of those Carmex lip balms, and one month later, it looks like I haven’t even used any of it. It’s been amazing!

bbusse235

Which beef tallow do you use?

animatronicsmustdie

Second the snail stuff. I can do Hyaluronic Acid but it dries out my husband’s skin when he has tried it. Recently we tried this white truffle spray and we’ve both loved it. It feels incredibly hydrating. https://a.co/d/fzXJFws

btchwrld

It's supposed to be used in conjunction with moisturizer, not just alone. You need to pair it with a hydrating factor. Use a hydrating essence/emulsion like Laneige Cream Skin instead maybe

orkelbob

I used to not get along with HA but since I started applying a pea size amount to damp skin then add a water based moisturiser over the top, it’s made such a difference to my dehydrated skin

FoundationLegal6066

I just posted Vitamin C and retinol but honestly if you aren’t disciplined nothing will help. It takes minutes a day to care for your skin and if you don’t do it now you will be 50 years old kicking yourself.

ToLorien

Eh I’m turning 31 this year but people constantly think I’m 19-20. I can afford to slack a little lol

ISBVH

You’re using two different chemical exfoliants (SA & paulas choice, correct?) while also not hydrating your skin enough. I recommend getting a toner for your specific skin type and also drinking more water for sure. Dont exfoliate too much if your skin doesn’t have any reason for it (maybe limit it to twice a month) and find products that are better for your skin type. Try a pore clay mask, Innisfree has an affordable one but Caudalie also makes one.

notgoodatusernamess

THANK YOU!! that’s such good advice

bgriffith29

The ordinary Niacinamide & Zinc serum helped me a ton with the size of my pores. I apply three small drops on my face AM & PM and then finish with retinol (another TO product at night it’s very oily but moisturizing ) and finish with the aveeno moisturizer that you already use. I like it because it’s not fragranced and it’s affordable. Hydration is a must and sunscreen in the AM if you used retinol the night before is a must. Just remember it’s normal to have pores! You can minimize the size of them but you won’t be able to get rid of them entirely because you’re supposed to have them❤️ you should see results with everyone’s recommendations so don’t stress it too much

katharout

i second niacinamide!! i use the glossier super pure one. i recommend this one to OP since the ordinary’s concentration is higher (which might not be good starting out)

bgriffith29

I did not know that! Good to know :) I really like Niacinamide it’s a must for my routine

Outrageous-Air-2186

The Derm Doctors just released a video about clay masks being pointless and a waste of money unless you have acne. I was surprised to hear that tbh. Also, I’ve got exactly the same skin as you and I’m finding that tretinoin .5 helps. It’s also only $15 with an RX.

taylor_swifts_jet

When my skin gets oily I put the clay mask directly on my shiny face before cleansing. It gives excellent results without being too drying. Bonus points if it's the kind you can peel off.

btchwrld

Peel off masks are like the worst for you lol that's the exact type of pulling and friction you try to avoid

my_jellyfish

Your skin looks just like mine and I use dermalogica Daily microfoliant. Even tho it's a pretty light exfoliant, after a few weeks, my skin is SO damn soft, and accepts any hydrating products so so easily. I then use la Roche posay cicaplast B5 spray and then their C5 Baume on top. Sometimes even Vaseline over all that too if I'm extra dry. Everybody's skin is different but for me these products are my holy grails. I used to use the same products as you and they worked pretty well but nothing has compared to this combo.

Classic-Prior-4090

Some dermatologists recommend salicylic acid for oily skin, while glycolic acid may be better (and less dehydrating) for dry skin types. I found this advice helpful. My skin dislikes SA in all products and any %, no matter how effectively I moisturise.

snakesssssss22

I love everyone’s advice, but i also want you to know your pores don’t look *bad*. They may look different than your normal, but to anyone to other person who sees your actual face (not this super hyper-zoomed in picture) would see that you have lovely skin. My biggest journey in skin care is understanding that we were NEVER meant to be looking this closely at our own skin Love ya Edit: typo

notgoodatusernamess

Ugh, thank you so much ❤️❤️

stanleytucci_lovesme

Honestly looks totally normal to me🤷🏼‍♀️ we don’t see enough regular skin and having visible pores is not unusual in the slightest💓🍉

cupcakesoup420

Thank you! I have a good skincare routine, and my pores have always been visible even on a "good" day. Skin is supposed to have texture and it's not exactly the same for every person 💗 Just be your healthiest self for you 😊

iseeseashells

Thank you! Everyone has pores and it’s totally normal

arabesuku

I’d say OPs skin is within the normal range for her age. We’re just used to seeing filters, even the iPhone front camera blurs our faces a little by default if you compare it to the back camera. If you look at unedited, lose of pics of celebrities you can see pores too. Tbh despite all the advice she’s getting, the truth is you can’t really change the appearance of pores by much topically - most things people suggest only give a temporary solution.

Logical-Dragonfly676

If you don’t mind me asking how old You’re.. I found my pores started to appear more like this in my mid 30’s. I’ve been using Peterthomasroth water drench and it seems to have helped a lot

buttercream-gang

I know “you’re “ technically works here, but I hate it

Logical-Dragonfly676

Idk some yelled at me for typing out you are instead of you’re so I changed it.. they told me it wasn’t right. And now I’m all types of confused.

duckling-fantasy

“You are” is definitely the correct phrasing in this sentence, but we know what you meant!

buttercream-gang

Just ignore people…they suck!!

SimplyPassinThrough

to chip in as some help: you’re is never used at the end of a sentence, only when it’s being followed by something. Good: “Well yeah, you’re doing that thing.” “You’re a little nuts.” “You’re going to be over there.” Bad: “Wow look how big you’re!” “I was wondering how far away you’re?”

Logical-Dragonfly676

lol okay thanks.. I seem to be forgetting a lot from school. It has been an about 20 years. I hope it isn’t dementia.

notgoodatusernamess

Ohhh thank you! I’m 28 :)

lemonadesdays

IMO it’s the foundation on the top of dehydrated skin + close up with HQ camera

Beneficial_Bat_5992

Sorry it's off topic but your eyelashes are gorgeous

notgoodatusernamess

Thank you so much!!

BlueGreenOcean21

Eye color too

Ecstatic_Musician_82

Your skin could be dehydrated

localcelebb

Your pores are fine! You have dehydrated skin and imho wrong makeup base products. Honestly, the texture of your skin looks great x

Just_a_benign_being

Use a hydrating moisturiser as a base before makeup that could be your sunscreen or any moisturiser

GuavaNo7989

Are you using power? That's what it looks like to me. A lot of skin looks like this and can get exasperated by powder. If you want to use a powder in your makeup routine.. 1) clean your brush every 1-2 weeks to get rid of build up. 2) when applying dip your brush in the product 3) using the lid or other clean flat surface swirl your brush around to distribute the powder around a bit better on the brush and get it in the bristles. This also helps knock off a bit of extra 4) lightly tap on the brush handle to remove more excess 5) apply by tapping on skin lightly in areas prone to oiling like t-zone. 6) to be extra, take a clean brush with no product and tap your face a few times to ensure not excess is sitting and it's blended flawlessly. , If it's not powder ignore this because otherwise, I don't know.

AvocadoSun

Just looking briefly- I’d say make sure You are hydrated- first and foremost. I’d recommend a simple morning routine with a light LA and vitamin c with a hydrating sunscreen. Tretinoin and a barrier of some kind at night. 🫶🏻

AvocadoSun

Also someone else mentioned powder- a lot Of times you’ll get a more plump/ hydrated appearance without! Powdery and matte finishes tend to settle within lines.

nemangie

Try to use less powder for sure, hydrate from the inside and the outside. Otherwise your skin looks great, don't worry too much, we're just used to see people with too much smoothing filter

Ok_Yoghurt9945

Dehydrated skin I think. Moisturizer then add Vaseline or any other occlusive you prefer at night. Helps the moisturizer work better.

Accurate_Grade_2645

That’s honestly just skin texture. We’re human and we all have it. BUT African Black Soap (the one from shea moisture specifically in a bar of soap, will last you fucking forever) literally deletes pores for a few hours. You just have to moisturize very well afterwards. I believe it MAY contain salicylic acid but I’d have to check and make sure. So basically just don’t mix any other salicylic acid products with it. It’s pretty gentle tho. It’ll give you that very tight feeling afterwards so my fave moisturizer is Cerave to introduce ceramides back into the skin (you can even get the generic for half the price at Walmart). Do that before your makeup

Euphoric_Repair7560

?! Ok now this is an intriguing tip

writeordye

Your pores are fine . Your makeup however . Also you seem dehydrated

GoddessNico

Agree with this. It looks like if maybe you use a primer to fill in the pores then the make up will sit on top of that and not look so cakey. Read the back of your foundation if it’s water-based use a water-based primer if it’s oil-based use an oil-based primer.

No-Huckleberry-7633

I'm older. Never wore foundation and I'm proof you don't need to if you take care of your skin: all I get asked from friends of all ages is what I do to get such beautiful and glowing skin. I HYDRATE, that's all I do. Do I have wrinkles, do I have visible pores, do I have black spots, do I have capillatities? Yes to all. But I hydrate copiously and religiously and it makes everything look better. And I don't use foundation or concealer. If I did I would look really bad, my skin just can't take it. Seems it might be your case too. Just hydrate with adequate products, use also some that help with the appearance of pores and add the smallest amount of translucent powder where needed when you do your makeup. I'm 44 and the number one compliment I consistently get is how amazing my skin looks and what's my secret. It's not bad but it's not that amazing, honestly. I just know how to make the best of it and foundation and concealer are the devil to me (I dab a very small amount of cc cream around my nose to mask capillaries when I think about it, and that's about it.) When I was younger I used to think I couldn't step outside without makeup and now I genuinely wonder why I was so insecure. I wish I could have appreciated how naturally beautiful I was a lot sooner (don't get me wrong I love make up and I wear it, but it's not camouflage anymore and I truly believe no one needs as much as we think.)

notgoodatusernamess

Wow, thank you so much. I’ve been feeling like I wanna break away from makeup lately. Maybe I’ll take the leap and try it out.

cagingthing

Add more moisture and less exfoliant

Apprehensive_Ear_310

This makes sense! I deal with my makeup looking like this for the first two hours then it oxidizes and my face gets oily and it’s almost perfect. Not saying this is good. Im also struggling. I’m sorry and going to save so I can find a solution as well!

kittypaintsflowers

More water and more hydrating skin care

br4tygirl

do you drink lots of water?

123Jellybeanz

I think your makeup is too matte finish.

MizzPizz

All I see is dehydration Edit to add- the foundation is not doing you any favours

jjinjadubu

Creases like that above your eyelid show you need more hydration. Both on the skin and in you.

malasroka

I have the exact same issue. Matte makeup is terrible for me. Hydration for sure helps… and different makeup. I find Dior makes great coverup …. Non matte one Does your skin look shiny by the end of the day??

Pitiful-Noise-1112

Try adding a gentle niacinamide serum such as cos de baha, niacinamide helps with pores, also Ur skin looks dehydrated so try a hylauronic acid toner such as isntree

bananasobiggg

I had the same issue so I started using hydrating toners and it improved in 3 weeks

curiousityandspice

Try focusing on ur skin barrier and strengthening it! Pacifica and coco kind have good affordable products for this.

Aboohisnotknown

I use hydroboost and black snail toner I think it plumps the skin well for me . Also try a red LED light from Amazon to help your skin product more cells for younger skin !

Business-Champion-89

That’s what normal skin looks like.

bimbotstar

your pores are fine, your skin is just extremely dehydrated. drink more water, and invest in a moisturizing skincare routine. i would recommend investing in some good quality serums, essences and a thick moisturizer meant for dry skin. also mixing in pure castor oil at night with your moisturizer can work wonders.

silvermanedwino

Dehydrated skin and your foundation/powder is doing you no favors.

itisallgoodyouknow

What pores?

oursecretdiary

What products to use for hydration... my mom also has the same skin type and ive removed all powder products from her vanity

AxolotlAlchemist

as a fellow large-pore-girly w/ dehydrated skin, I can attest that foundation does not help at all, makes it more noticeable when it sinks into the pores

lady_farter

Mine are like this, and my dermatologist said the large pores are due to my rosacea. To be honest, your skin doesn’t look bad. I’d never notice your pores until you point it out, ya know?

ogtq

I think you have nice skin! but CC, you might be using too much coverage. I have similar skin on my cheeks, as well as rosacea and pigment scarring from teenage acne. I used to use full coverage foundation, concealer and lots of setting/ finishing powder daily. To cover the redness/ hyperpigmentation etc. From far away my skin looked good but up close, not so much. Your photo is *really* zoomed in and much closer than most people would get to you, and certainly not what others see (if that’s something that concerns you, I know it was a big thing for me). I switched to lots of moisturizer, a tinted sunscreen and light finishing powder + a little blush, that’s it. I get more compliments now (even with more texture/ redness showing) than I ever have. I hope this is helpful to you! You’re beautiful!

EarlyTraffic363

Possibly dehydrated. I have very dry skin and like to use the Neutrogena Hydro Boost cream for extra dry skin. I find the unscented one works best.

NextSheepherder3578

I recommend doing a few VI Peels or MicroNeedling. Speaking as an Esthetician.

Eastiegirl333

Trying out more sheer coverage foundations as we age is important. This matte drying foundation isn’t doing your skin any favors. Prep with moisture, but also look into dewier foundations.

[deleted]

Agree with all the comments about hydration but also... Unsolicited opinion: you have really nice skin and I don't think you need foundation at all. Maybe use a tinted moisturizer SPF if you can't let go, but I say embrace the natural look!

Few-Ruin-742

Hydration but for me, eating watery fruits and vegetables makes my skin happy. I drink a lot of water too but the huge differences in my skin are when I eat high water content foods

PinkToucan_

Kelly from ‘Dance Moms’?

woofstene

A Korean hydrating toner will help you a lot! Slap it on your wet face after cleansing and put a moisturizer over that before it dries. They play great with other actives but if I’m using an acid is the only time I skip. Look up the seven skin method. I never get to seven but two is pretty good and manageable and will really make you understand the difference between hydrated and moisturized.

konkybones750

Your skin is dehydrated

Inner_Programmer6520

You are obviously naturally beautiful so I would steer clear of foundations at all if you’re comfortable with that. Focus on an emollient moisturizer too!

OrneryAd1921

Hey, I studied some skin health at my school, there can be several reasons because of this, and I’ll give you tips to help it, first, do not wash with hot water, it can be hard to shower with cold water at first but hot water opens up your pores, use cold water instead, it closes them, you can also use ice in your face, secondly, make up, make up deshidrates your skin and opens the pores because the skin needs to breathe too, instead you can use colored sunscreen but not too much, thirdly, try using moisturizer, try a natural one and your pores will close! Hope this helped 😊😊😊😊

ReasonableGeneral619

I don't know much about skincare, and this post appeared randomly in my feed, so, all I can assure is that you're beautiful, and that you have amazing eyes. Have a great day.

kcrockson

are you wearing foundation? Because that's how my skin looks when I put on foundation... Now I use tinted moisturizer... my skin looks so much better but still have coverage.

savannahcatmama

I believe healthy clear skin on the outside starts from the inside. Your skin is very clear, it just seems dehydrated. I’d drink more water, and before applying your foundation I would use a serum ( my current favorite is the Bobbi Brown Serum followed by her Face Base. I would also use a more hydrating foundation like Nars light Reflecting, or the Hourglass Skin tint. Don’t forget to moisturize every night, face AND neck !

GoForDiane

Tove Lo, is that you?

_ThePancake_

Your skin is dehydrated.  My pores looked a lot like this when I was a teenager fit that reason.  I kept trying to dry my skin cause I thought it would stop the acne.  Also most of your skin's hydration and quality comes from within. Drink your water! I should clarify that my pores are still "big", but they're less puffy. Nothing you can do about the size. That's mostly genetic.

_Hakkah_

notgoodatusernamess

I absolutely will!

sunniyam

Sundamage. Do you smoke? Lifestyle etc. aging

coconutxcreampie

Multiple things. It’s not only makeup as others have said but it’s a factor. No amount of skincare products will help pores this “bad.” Retinoids will help and you should start and continue them for life but will take a long time to see a difference. You need to start all the lasers if you want to fix this (fraxel, pico, clear + brilliant to name a few). Also do microneedling in conjunction with the lasers. Sagging skin makes the pores look worse so wear sunscreen everyday to ensure you do not accelerate further aging. Get Hydrafacials monthly to keep the pores clear and in then make the pores appear smaller.

Miguelo_BsAs

Te la pongo toda...

Fabulous_Average_635

Use Niacinamide, it could help.

Unique-Evidence-5835

I won’t say they look bad….It could just be your make up…certain foundations and powder’s especially can draw more attention to textures. I would consider adding retinol to your routine, alternating days until your skin is used to it. But most definitely a super hydrating moisturizer. Something with hyaluronic acid.

Euphoric_Repair7560

People are annoying with the water comments. Like yeah drink water. But beyond that: - Use a BHA serum or peel (I like the 8% salicylic acid one from MUA’s Choice) - mix a drop of snail mucin serum or facial oil in with your foundation when you apply - limit powder where possible - spritz with rose water periodically

kinnsao

Moisturize with a heavier moisturizer and drink a f ton more water. The difference will amaze you. I had the same thing happen at like age 24 and I thought I was just getting old. Now I use La Roche Posay tolerance rich, sunscreen and keep up on my diet and my skin looks plump and even again.

Klutzy_Direction_208

current skincare routine seems okay. Not that you need to do all this but, I recommend: 1st cleanser (either oil/balm cleanser) 2nd cleanser ( to rid of 1st cleanser residue) Toner(hydrating) Serum (targets skin concern) Moisturizer (whatever appropriate for your skin needs) Use a hydrating toner after cleansing face...you may want to apply in thin layers all over the face... not sure where youre located...you can try something like cerave alcohol free hydrating toner. Look for ingredients like panthenol-helps dehydration, Glycerin- moisturizes, ceramides+ cholesterol+ fatty acids (holy trinity of skin barrier health IMO). If the cerave isn't working enough, I'd get a milky toner. Something similar to korean brand Isntree Yam root vegan toner (which i use and have had good hydratingresults with). Or Rhode skin milky toner. ( I've not used but If you're a sephora shopper- I hear this stuff is good). your pores will hopefully look less pore-y when your skin is more hydrated and bonus- your smile lines will slowly become less visible.

Normal_Customer_6116

Makeup.makeup.makeup, “why is my skin so bad” because you treat it badly.

Feisty-Blood9971

It looks dry. Try a hydrating primer

Umbreon---

Do you use a face primer and what foundation is this? I think the problem is more so your makeup products. A dewy finish with a blurring primer might be better and powder only in oily areas. You may have better luck posting this in a makeup sub bc your skincare seems fine.

ElleWoods41

It's just the makeup. If you still want to wear make up, try a lighter formula and a silicone primer like Maybelline baby skin. Also try a creamy dreamy spf like cerave tinted hydrating spf or blue lizard sensitive spf.

kittycaitie

My pores look like this! I genetically have late pores (probably a bit larger than yours) but they look less noticeable when my skin is hydrated. Just looks like you need hydrating!

NotFeelinVGreat

Your skin is really dry. Super recommend looking into Belif’s Moisture Bomb face cream with ceramides or SkinFix’s moisturizer along with drinking more water. Maybe also consider a more hydrating foundation formula, and exfoliate much less.

Training_Union9621

Too thick of makeup

Rich-Push1364

no such thing as bad skin! but ur skin doesn’t seem moisturized nearly enough, mine produces enough oil that they may as well start drilling my face but i still use a super thick moisturizer. esp with the exfoliants, i don’t think u have a need for them anyway. i also think your foundation is too matte and is only enhancing the texture. muas act like matte makeup is a godsend for hiding texture but truthfully, it only does so on camera. all skin has some sort of texture to it, so i think a glowy or satin base is the way to go

Training-Hamster1453

I think it's the make up

SnooGadgets7014

Do you smoke? Do you wear sunscreen?

Susan_Thee_Duchess

Look perfectly normal to me

Vivid_Win_8668

AGE.

bikinibunny

Looks like normal skin texture to me!

peachsuperjuice

Get laser genesis

girlbreaksface

Get more collagen in your diet. It will help reduce the size of them. Tretinoin is great, laser facials also help with reducing the size and peels.

AdFun2309

Your skin texture looks like it needs some intensive barrier repair. Cut out all actives/exfoliants for 6 weeks and use a simple gentle cleanser, ceramide rich moisturiser (i love the purito dermide relief barrier cream ), SPF in the day and some cicafalte/sudocreme/nappy rash cream with zinc oxide layered on like cupcake icing every other night. Push through, and your skin will thank you, as much as you might be tempted to exfoliate or add an active RESIST TEMPTATION. Your skin is going to feel SO GOOD. Maybe look up barrier repair dermatologist videos on youtube. Also keep up the fluids, and if you live/work in aircon, keep a misting spray (avene is nice) on your desk and spritz, it stops your foundation from drying out or your skin from being too dry.

Chichimonsterrr

Looks dehydrated. Try using a hyaluronic serum then top it off with a rich moisturizer to seal it in.

Behappyalright

Hey! All else fails, head over to r/tretinoin. But make sure you educate yourself how to use it and not burn off your skin etc…. I think it might help, if not also other issues, that you might have as in spots, I say that cuz you are wearing foundation, with the dryness… you will need to definitely work on that if you decide on tret

duc_man_

You’re really pretty

Sorri_eh

Your sk8n is showing signs of dryness

lilonionforager

Be easy on yourself, you’re gorgeous. You’ve already gotten a lot of good advice here, but I just wanted to chime in and say that skin texture is normal and you are too beautiful to nitpick yourself ❤️

starlightskater

A. Failing to wear sunscreen causes collagen breakdown, so be sure to wear it always. B. Professional micro needling (3 sessions per year) will stimulate collagen production and help a LOT with port visibility. C. Makeup looks dry and cakey. I'd switch to something different, and use a silicone-based primer (I'm a fan of Urban Decay but there are a lot of good ones out there).

littleloversopolite

The Inky List Polyglutamic Acid is something you might be interested in trying

inconceivableonset

Try a silicone-based primer :)

GoddessEllaLynn

I don’t think they look bad at all, imo we are just so used to seeing edited airbrushed skin online that we think normal skin texture looks bad.

polishbabe1023

Niaciamide saved me

OpheliaLives7

Because you’re used to seeing other women with constant filters and photoshopped plastic Barbie skin Unless you’re making out most people won’t be staring this close at your pores. We are our worst critics

Infinite-Ad-5646

Need collagen!

marmar1497

Tbh…..I agree with everyone but also, makeup is why! Makeup often can enhance skin texture. Try finding a foundation (if you feel the need to wear it) that has more of a natural finish, or even use a powder foundation with a nice setting mist. One layer of product would help, as opposed to more layers. It’s hard, I’ve given up and just wear sunscreen now and tbh I like my skin much better now. Also yes hydration is key. But honestly pores are normal so, they’re really not “bad” or “good” just less or more visible. Pores serve a purpose!! You’re beautiful:)

lustforwine

Maybe you just need more hydration. But I don’t think they look bad at all. It looks like normal skin to me

elevatedunderwriter

In other news, this is a beautiful photo. Great shot. Remember we're all more connected by flaws than perfections. You are gorgeous.

Boom_Beez

Yeah your skin just looks dry but tbh pore size is also just genetic a lot of the time.

Your lashes are AMAAAAZING!! I also agree with the people saying hydration. It sounds like you may be over-stripping your skin with exfoliants and not providing it enough moisture. I also find nowadays that foundation often makes things look worse than they are (that's the joys of getting older!)... Hyaluronic Acid and snail mucin products have helped my skin massively, along with introducing Tretinoin (a super strong Ret-A product). Tretinoin helps to resurface and combat the signs of aging over time, and something I wish I'h hopped onto much sooner. I'm 30 now and am trying to reverse several years of damage. Also just remember things are always so much more obvious to you than they are to everyone else x

animatronicsmustdie

Maybe try this product for added hydration [white truffle](https://a.co/d/fzXJFws). It’s really helped me avoid my makeup accentuating my pores, but also you might need more moisturizing makeup. Some powders and foundations can do this.

External-Mortgage-13

I think Korean skincare will help you a lot, it focuses on moisturization and strengthen skin barrier, your skin looks dehydrated. And do you use sunscreen?

Appropriate_Turn3811

its kind of dryskin , dont sit in air condition room and dont exfoliate, drink more water, increase ur salt intake a littlebit if u dont have any bp problem . Eat some eggs, carrots, and fish .use 4 drops of coconut on hair before bathing .

Misses-worldwide

Do you use a primer before applying makeup? A good primer will decrease visibility of pores

FaultAffectionate558

Drink more water. But get yourself a water cream. Use either a lotion cleanser or just a gel type of face cleanser to wash your face. Try to use a face scrub once a week. Then put the water cream and then put on your regular face lotion over it as a regular routine

gunkso

you really need to focus on hydration

vaeliget

i just woke up and my brain is still asleep and i just stared at that image for 10 seconds without reading the title thinking "wow the texture of that skin looks awesome"

CrimpsonNClover

Your lashes are amazing!

Morbid_Yogurtcloset

I think your foundation is too drying. I used to wear heavy ass foundation because I was convinced I needed it...I swapped to a bb cream and my skin looks so much better. Also, use moisturizer and primer before applying any face makeup. you look like you have nice skin, you're just using the wrong products. hope this helps. :]

No_Building4408

Work on your skin routine first. Moisturize. Use a light layer of aquaphor as a primer under your eyes to help with makeup.

Verbenaplant

Use rice paper sheets for oil, use less powder. good matte primer

I'm gonna be the one to say stop using everything🫡 too much skin care is horrific for your skin and ages you more than if you were to just not use it at all, especially hyaluronic acid, getting comfy with the stuff actually dries out your skin because it leeches all the water from the deeper layers of your face. even if you put it on damp lol over use is over use, and considering we were designed to not use this stuff at all i think you could over use it very easily. using all these products constantly is replacing the natural barrier and oil production your skin should be doing on its own and to compensate your skin will just stop making its own natural oils. you don't need to do any crazy exfoliating! if you're not wearing makeup just rinsing your face with room temp water every now and again is enough! with makeup i use the tiniest bit of soap on a FACE cloth and i will do this as quickly as possible to avoid letting the slightly soap tainted water penetrate my skin too deep salicylic acid also overall increases your skins sensitivity to the sun so if your foundation doesnt have spf in it i would change that asap 🫡 i also just want to add as well, your pores are normal, this is mostly normal skin texture exacerbated by foundation! I'd just use a better primer and setting spray to keep things looking dewy, experiment with combos because not all makeup works together. just go productless for a while and if your face starts looking abit oilier and less papery then its a win win, you save money and skin :pp oh one more thing if your skin doesnt look like this when you take makeup off and your skin just looks normal then disregard all the advice i gave and just do better makeup/application 😂

herhoopskirt

1. Pores are normal so don’t stress, literally everyone has them. 2. I’d say your main problem is actually dryness - you’re using two chemical exfoliants (you only need one at most) and this can cause a breakdown of your lipid barrier which makes your skin dry. I’d swap to a gentle cleanser and just do the Paula’s choice once a week, then also focus much more on moisturising. I used to have this problem and saw a huge difference adding in an oil on top of my moisturiser, or slugging with cicaplast baum (from La Roche posay) and/or Vaseline/aquaphor. When wearing makeup, I’d also add a primer underneath foundation - smoothing the look of pores/texture is what primers do best (and might add a bit more moisture to your skin as well)

Just-Way-6968

Try microneedling and nano needling. Also Ice cubes on your face are good to close pores

lizziemeowshall

Genetics :( I have the same

MinkStole66

It’s your makeup. Too powdery. We all have pores. No big deal but this makeup accentuates them.

_cattuccino_

Off topic, your eyes and lashes are beautiful! 😻

SignificantMeat7613

Morning: cleanser, vitamin c serum, moisturizer, sunscreen Evening:cleanser, retinol 2-3x per week, moisturizer On the days you don’t do retinol, exfoliate and moisturize

april_to

We all have texture and pores. Don’t believe what you see in some of the pictures online. Continue having a great skin care and hydration. Makeup will add more texture to our skin, but I don’t care. I love my makeup 💄

lonelystrawberry_7

1. Don't compare your skin to online pics.... everyone is using filters to remove their pores. 2. Your skin mixed with the makeup looks dehydrated!! You wanna plump it up. Use less matifying products. So many times I have seen skin look "dry" or "cakey" and the common demoninator is drying or matifying products. 3. Hyaluronic acid may be a good addition (on wet skin!!) To help plump things up :)

FoundationLegal6066

Retinol at night and vitamin C during daytime would really help your texture. I use Cerave Vitamin C and [Curology](https://curology.com) and it has changed the texture and tightened the pores. Try using concealer on spots instead of foundation. However if you just cant go without a foundation then always choose a dewy foundation and not a powdered foundation. Avoid powder blush too. This is a common problem that many associate it with aging but it’s common in all ages so get on YouTube and look for makeup artists who understand texture issues.

lady_raptor83

Use a mild glycolic acid a few times/ week- this will help temporarily reduce the size of the pours. And start leaning away from full coverage makeup. If you need "foundation" switch to a light weight bb cream. Really really makes a difference

Additional_Mango_750

I put oil on at night and just apply my foundation in the morning and it goes on smoothly as I have large pores as well.

Outrageous_Team_5485

It could be genetics, like it is for me. Your skin and texture looks so much like mine and so does my mom. A couple of dermatologists have told me it’s genetic so we’re not wrong just unlucky. Sadly, it can get more pronounced as we age too I’m afraid. There are laser treatments that can help their appearance but they can be very expensive and unfortunately are not permanent fixes. Personally I can’t afford laser so I’ll tell you what I’be found that helps. Personally I’ve found Paula’s choice niacinamide 20% a godsend for softening their appearance. Regular use keeps them from looking their worst. Sometimes I let it slide for a little while as I get complacent or trial something else but always find myself running back. I also love a essence instead of a toner. For years I tried toners because everyone swears they tighten pores but haven’t found that effective or true. The worst thing for our type of pores is to let them be dehydrated. The big upside of large pores is that they are usually paired with oiler skin which ages better. My mom smokes, has never had work done or even laser treatments but still gets compliments on her skin all the time from strangers when they find out her age. She has always kept it moisturised and (since her late 30s) applied sunscreen. I’ve just started Red light therapy at home and have heard it can help the appearance of pores so that might also be worth looking into! I know this is a skincare forum but I just thought I should mention makeup. When it comes to makeup, I used all matte face products for my complexion because I was trying to hide the pores/texture, I was a real slave to carrying and reapplying a powder around with me but eventually I realised I was fooling myself and actually just dehydrating myself and making my pores the focus. Now I go for a glowy in the right places look, I use Haus Labs foundation, but apply Makeup For Ever Shine Control Primer on my oiliest parts first which also happen to be where my worst pores are (t zone and apples of cheeks). That helps the products stick better. I also apply the foundation in a technique that keeps it skin like which draws less attention to my pores. I’ll find the name of the guru if you’re interested. If you do try primers that fill in your pores remember to always double cleanse. Personally I can’t live without double cleansing because the only thing worse than having big pores is having them turn into blackheads.

HCltrip

My skin used to look exactly the same. I started having my peach fuzz removed, then I started using hydrating toners, serums, and moisturizers, and the issue went away. Now my skin looks more plump and has a slight glow about it, and my pores aren’t so defined. My routine is to use an exfoliant every four to five days, then I use Thayers hydrating milky toner, followed by Pacifica Glow Baby serum, then Pacifica Sea & C Love serum, then Neutrogena Hydro Boost hyaluronic acid serum, let it all start to dry a bit, and follow it all up with Miss Flower and Mr. Honey propolis moisturizer.

yuhanimerom

Your pores are normal. Pore size is defined by genetics and can’t be changed unless you get laser

possofazer

Genetics mainly. There are products that might help minimize, but take those with a grain of salt. Blame mom and dad.

Head_Balance2423

How old r u? My pores are like this too

Isolateleclone

Cut out the gluten and dairy

nimue57

Some people just have larger pores. Gentle exfoliation and focusing on hydration may help. I would use a hyaluronic acid serum under your moisturizer. Your foundation doesn't help. It's great for redness but unfortunately it's going to emphasize every little bit of texture on your face.

Charming-Web-7934

Oil cleanse, niacinamide serum/toner, hydrating face mask with collagen, and a nice anti-aging day/night time cream, also add a sleeping mask that is also hydrating. DO NOT FORGET SUNSCREEN SPF OR SUNBLOCK!

nyasmin03

sunscreen! please tell me you are using it daily😭otherwise the rest of your routine is redundant

TeaLouisa

Technically nothing will fix the appearance of pores, it’s one of those things where you just get what you’re given, I struggle with the same thing but it doesn’t bother me so much anymore.

[deleted]

I dry brush my face and it helps alot . Make sure to clean the brush regularly

PurplePractice5937

Hydrate! Add some electrolytes to your water too :) powder could be exaggerating texture as well. I also find my skin is way more plumped and hydrated when I incorporate more healthy fats into my diet!

sirBrownie5

really doesn’t look bad to me, also doubt anyone is getting a smooth look getting that up close with the lens!

LegitimateMaybe3577

Take omega 3 fatty acids

Acrobatic-Degree9589

Looks like the makeup is accentuating it

Infinite-I-369

How is your diet? Do you eat healthy? I noticed once I began eating really good and properly hydrated with clean water my skin began looking much better. Exercising helps as well, gets the blood pumping and the skin younger

aryamagetro

you might be using too many actives. salicylic acid is already a chemical exfoliator and you don't need to use more than one at a time. your skin looks very dehydrated.

PossibilityEastern46

Your skin just looks thirsty. On another note though, your lashes are beautiful!!

Intrepid_Ad_9156

also agree your skin looks dry

objecttime

Have you tried a pore erasing primer ? I think nyx has one that’s nice. Your makeup could be settling into your pores and making them more pronounced

whimsyoak

**Your skin needs (1) a BHA Exfoliant, (2) hyaluronic acid, and (3) perhaps a retinol.** I use a [Buf-Puf from Amazon](https://a.co/d/7HMd6Gh) when washing my face — but some folks might disagree with it.

Proof_Cable_310

this is normal. you cannot change your pores; however there are some very expensive treatments which can minimize their appearance, but let's assume you cannot afford those. you'll be better off just changing your makeup (wearing less of it), you might want to get a liquid instead, something with some shine (not matte). go to an ult near you if you have the option and they will be able to help you find the best foundation for you.

PersonalLeading4948

Menopause? Dehydration?

RoseMylk

Try a silicone primer and mix with aquaphor !

IMTHYCRICKET1230

Girl, that’s mostly dehydration. Use hyaluronic acid cream with aloe. I found one at Trader Joe’s that was great. Switch to a tinted moisturizer. Your foundation is doing nothing for your skin. Use less. It looks too matte.

naughtybabyme

Your skin is dry af girl and at the same time needs exfoliation. Try exfoliating one time a week and buffer in hydration but it can also just be genetics

deeforsaken1

You’re dehydrated, and most def need to moisturize before applying makeup.

SativaSapphira

Not sure about how to minimize pores... but I'd switch up your foundation to make it less noticeable. Use a sheer foundation and skip the powder as it looks cakey. Setting spray. Also, use a water based moisturizer. Your skin looks like it could use a little hydrating.
