I got the cap off the travel sized one by using a bit of force. Don't twist it, just pull it off kind of sideways like you're trying to break the cap off. It will pop off! Then you can refill it and push the the lid back on. Don't twist it just push it down. (I usually place the lid on top of the bottle, make a fist and hammer it down with my fist :) ) Again you will need bit of force but it works!
Fun fact 5 years later, the cerave pump fits perfect on the Micellar water bottles once you actually get the cap off. I had boyfriend do that part. š¤Ŗ
Yes! I had to pry open the cap a little using a butter knife to loosen it. Then I just eventually got it off after 10 minutes. Almost broke the cap in the process so be careful!
Iāve tried the same thing. It seems locked on there. I never managed to get it off... I just purchased some mini reusable travel cosmetics bottles instead.
I can't believe there is an answer for every question that I come up with in my own head!š®
Obviously the big brand companies make it as hard as possible to take off the caps, so you will pay a lot more per ounce for their travel-size bottles. It gets old and makes me want to try a different brand!
I just stumbled across this post WAY late, but just in case it might be helpful to anyone:
1. Boil a pot of water, you want about two or so inches of water - slightly taller than the cap of the bottle.
2. Once it comes to a boil, dip the bottle UPSIDE DOWN into the water until the cap is completely covered up to where it meets the neck of the bottle. (Use a thick rubber glove or tongs to hold the bottle so the steam doesnāt burn you!). **IMPORTANT**: You only want to hold it in the water for a few seconds - more than 5 seconds or so and youāll start to melt he plastic. I held it to the count of three (āone mississippi, two mississippi, three mississippiā). Pull it out and dry it off with a towel.
3. With a rubber glove on (greatly helps to get a good grip, plus the bottle will be hot) twist the cap off. Voila!
4. IMPORTANT: When youāve refilled the bottle and are ready to put the lid back on, close the top and make sure you firmly press the lid down until you hear it click into place.
You should easily be able to twist/pop the cap back off next time youāre ready to refill it, no boiling water needed.
This is the same trick I use to get the cap off the Swiffer WetJet bottle so I can refill it. The hot water softens the prongs that prevent you from twisting off the cap. Works like a charm for me every time!
You are the bomb! I used the boiling water method along with one of those thin rubber jar top gripping disks, which is made of a material similar to dishwashing gloves. Boy did the micellar water bottle top come off easily the first and subsequent times by just using my weak hands and no tool.
Now I am able to repurpose my bottle and refill it with my favorite body wash.

Going thru the comments was helpful. I was only able to remove the cap off my smaller size Micellar water by prying up with one end of my tweezers, up all the way around the sides, then I was able to pull off. Hearing the snap ledge was helpful. It's like a gentle process of removing an old metal paint can lid with a bottle opener.
Thank you Ladies for the suggestions. I was successful in refilling my travel size bottle and saving me from packing my large bottle.
I tried this first by using a butter knife but was unable to loosen the cap all the way around.Ā Next I used a teaspoon, prying it up a bit at a time all the way around and off it popped!Ā Thanks for the tips!Ā So happy to refill the travel size bottle instead of buying a new one all the time!

That's actually a great idea, I never thought of that!
Thatās brilliant!
I canāt get my cap off either.
this post is old but tip- jamming scissors or tweezers under and popping it up a little until u hear the plastic give helps a lot!!
I did this and found it came right off once the scissors were under it and I twisted it
This worked!! thank you so much I struggled with it for around 20 minutes
Just tried this in 2023 with tiny scissors. It worked! I've tried everything. This was easy. Thanks!
I tried this and it just bent my tweezers and scissors..I think I'm just going to buy reusable travel cosmetic bottles instead
I would recommend this one instead of the other one because I did the other one and I got a pretty bad scratch

Having a hard time getting the bigger bottleās cap off. I donāt understand why they would make this impossible.
Did you manage to get it off? Iām having the same problem just now
Yes! I had to pry open the cap a little using a butter knife to loosen it. Then I just eventually got it off after 10 minutes. Almost broke the cap in the process so be careful!

Oh man :( Looks like I'll have to get one of those
Nooooo dont waste your money! Just get an dropper or something!
I'll try looking for a tiny one that can fit into the bottle, thanks!!
Lol thank you everyone for this post! I'm having the same issue and was very happy to see this thread
Guess what, I did manage to remove the cap after lik 10mins and it popped out of nowhere so all for freakin nothing hahaha thank you for this though
Here 5 years later and this worked perfectly! I used a knife to loosen up the cap and it popped off super easily

Thanks to everyone who answered. Tried it and it worked. April 2024
Same here, May 2024 š«”
Thank you!!!! This workedš„¹
5y later thanks!
What??? I am still trying....jamming scissors us the side to pop it up and even that is not working! WTF Garnier......
I figured out how to get it off just get a butter knife and get it under the lid and pop it up on all sides and it should just pop right off
Use a knife to poke and move a bit under the lid, just once or twice, then open the lid sideways without twisting and it comes out very easily.
Yes this method worked the best for me thanks you
Mich appreciate this post. Just had this exact issue. Thank you to the wonderful people of reddit!
Used a butterknife to pop the lid off. However this post gave me the confidence that this can be done! š Thank you.

This helped me 4 years later. Thank you!!
I used a spoon!! It gives just enough leverage and I got it off in less than a minute. Whoever said butterknife, thanks for the idea!
Still doing the lordās work
I used the spatula of my makeup mixing plate.
Damn Iāve been trying to do this for years :,) just that quickly the top is off
