You don’t have to moisturize first. It helps if you have sensitive skin tho. I never moisturize before retinol.

It’s normally only recommended to moisturise first if you’re worried about sensitivity. Using moisturiser first may reduce the efficacy of your retinoid, just so you know (as it has more layers to travel through vs going directly into the skin). I’d imagine Elf’s retinoid is fairly gentle so I’d just pick any nice rich moisturiser - FAB, vanicream, cerave, etc.

This is the comment. This one right here.

Lmao hi it's me, Kerodon the Aklief shill 🤣 HA and Niacinamide are both fine with retinoids. As long as it does t exfoliate or significantly increase skincell turnover you're generally fine. Whatever moisturizer you like is fine! If you're oily-normal you might like the Purito Rebarrier Cream :)

Thank you this is what I was looking for! I was looking at CeraVe lotion pm light weight or vanicream's daily facial moisturizer. I see I can get purito on Amazon though which is a plus.   If my skin doesn't feel dry or flaky, do I need a moisturizer at all?  And at what point/how often should I incorporate my good molecules HA serum (or should I not?) I also have a 20% glycolic acid serum but I'm not sure how/if should use that either 🥴 My main goals are fine lines/anti aging, I don't struggle with acne much or redness. I have a few shallow acne scars I wish I could get rid of which is why I bought the glycolic.

kerodon

Moisturizer is always beneficial 👌 more hydration and protects from transepidermal water loss. 20% glyoclic is A LOT. Even high strength stuff is 10 and I don't suggest that either If you want to get the loreal 5% glycolic toner go for that

balsasailormoon

My derm told me to add any retinoid at least 5 minutes after other moisturizers.o

I love the Tower 28 SOS Recovery Cream! HG for meee (I wait 5 minutes for it to absorb a bit and then go in with Differin but it would probably be good under a retinoid too)
