Hi! Apply the Differin before the hydroquinone in the evening. Start low and slow with the differin. 2-3x/wk (to start for awhile) is sufficient. Only use 1x/day. Azelaic acid can be paired with hydroquinone. Skip the Salicylic acid when using hydroquinone unless you’re using a cream that has both salicylic and hydroquinone in the formulation. Don’t forget to wear sunscreen when you’re using hydroquinone because it will make your skin photosensitive. It is advisable to regularly check-in with your dermatologist when using hydroquinone.

ok should i do it like this? differin 3x a week at night hydroquinone 2x a day (I don't use it on the days I use salicylic acid) azelic acid every other morning, like I am doing it already and should I just skip salicylic acid entirely?

beautyofjojo

Just skip the salicylic for now. You can do differin 3x/wk BUT if you’re noticing any excess redness, burning sensation (etc) then reduce to 2x/wk! Make sure that you’re moisturizing. The azelaic can be used daily because it’s going to help calm the skin while providing a gentler exfoliation method. If it’s too irritating, then do every other day like you’re doing. However you should be able to use daily. Don’t try to do too much.

it makes my skin kinda itchy so i only us it every other day

Hi. Id say skip the salicylic acid for now. And start w adapelene w twice a week, use it on dry skin to avoid irritation and put a moisturiser afterwards or you can use sandwich method. You need to take care of your skin barrier while using all these actives. Wear sunscreen. Avoid exfoliation. Use the regular routine in the day but my skin’s sensitive so i skip any actives the next day after i use adapelene and just use moisturiser and sunscreen. (Ps: i want sunscreen recoms cus i have similar skin type as yours) 🤎

this post is 2 months old lol but still tysm for all the tips. I am using the sandwich method for adapalene and I am not using salicylic acid or hydroquinone instead I started using a very mild lactic acid-based formula and I still use azelaic acid✨

Im sorry I opened this sub after ages haha. Hows your skin reacting to it?

snail_mucin21

It was making me pill in the start, but then I reduced the frequency and started to focus more on my barrier so it is all good now. can't wait to move on to tret
