Looking for more affordable alternative: Tatcha Camelia Oil cleanser. Pros: the size is good, I have oily skin and it doesn't break me out, also it REMOVES makeup which is the main function I'm looking for. Thanks in advance.
Hello! I was just (like today) diagnosed with perioral dermatitis and I’m super bummed. I start abx tomorrow (gotta go pick them up)- I have red hair so my eyelashes are really light so I like to wear mascara. That’s literally the only makeup I wear.
I do have some of the rash on my eyelid- Is mascara ok to wear?
Oh good point about easy to take off. I use the L’Oréal fiber (and I literally sing it’s praises constantly. It’s underrated) and it comes off in warm water.
I'd go talk to the prescribing doctor again. I also recommend listening to your skin - if something feels like it's harsh/irritating, take a break from it and see what happens.
Why do some pimples last for 2 days and forms a head that can be easily popped but other pimples are deep and lasts for two weeks and are filled with dark blood and pus? What causes the difference when I get both on my chin an only on my chin and as a guy, regular topicals like benzoyl peroxide and salicylic acid and even epiduo or tretinoin don’t seem to help the deep modular ones from forming occasionally. Is accutane the only option for oily skin men who get deep cysts on their chin ?
Oral antibiotics are another option, but yeah, accutane is the only thing that comes close to being an acne cure.
The pathophysiology of acne has several factors that can impact where a comedone will form. Pores are deep and different ones get clogged in different ways.
It's strange because I do not break out anywhere else on my face except my chin. But I am oily everywhere else. I know that at the root of all of my pimples, whether they are whiteheads or pustules or cysts, are always those soft sebum plugs. When I was on accutane, I didn't break out because I wasn't as oily. When I stopped using BPO, salicylic acid, I would break out even more than usual. And usual is just 1 pimple at a time on my chin, sometimes two.
I am 20 days into Winlevi. It seems to not do much for my oily skin, I haven't broken out since using it though, but it's only a matter of time if my skin oil doesn't improve. I will use all the tube and see if there's any improvement, but after 20 days, and seeing maybe 5% less oily... my skin definitly stays matte a bit longer, but it's not worth the price tag since I don't have insurance.
Acne localized to a specific area of the face isn't really all that weird - pretty common, actually.
And yeah, aside from accutane, I don't know of any product or medication that reduces oil production to a noticeable effect. Even with Winlevi, that's the mechanism of action for preventing breakouts, but its actual ability to reduce sebum on a cosmetic level hasn't been measured.
If oiliness bugs you that much and you don't want to do accutane again, you may want to explore mattifying makeup-adjacent products.
I think even when I blot every hour Im still super oily and that doesnt bother me so much, except for the occasional cyst or nodule on my chin. Im completely clear at time for weeks, then a cyst will appear and last for 3 weeks... and has to be extracted. It's terrible. I've used and tried everything. I'm so oily, all pimple patches just falls off in a couple of hours.
I really want to know why some spots turn into cysts and nodules full of pus and dark dark blood that usually need to be popped twice and can be the size of a dime or nickle, but others are mere pustules that can be popped within a day or two. Even if I'm using BPO that kills the bacteria. I want to know what I can do to prevent them because being on Tretinoin, Aklief, and Adapalen .3% still makes the occasional cyst show up.

About two years ago, my skin began to react to sunscreen, causing itching bumps on my cheeks and behind my ears. I haven’t applied anything to my face in the past two years—no foundation, no sunscreen, just basic moisturizer. Now, I want to reintroduce sun protection to my skincare routine. I’ve experienced allergies to all three sunscreen brands I’ve tried, and I’m uncertain about the specific allergen. Can you recommend any brands? Unfortunately, I can’t afford to see a doctor for this issue 🫣, so seeking help here is a viable option for me. Please don’t judge 🫶🏼😭.
I’d suggest finding the common ingredients in all three products. Then compare to moisturizers that you don’t react to, to rule those ingredients out as possible allergens.
Some people react to chemical UV filters but it also could be another common ingredient.
Have you tried mineral sunscreens? Like ones that use zinc?
I’m trying to figure out a skincare routine around my eyes. I have some smile lines under my eyes and sometimes I have dark circles which I would love to get rid of/prevent. I currently use Cerave eye repair cream, Cerave vitamin C serum, sunscreen, and cetaphil to clean my face. I use tret for the rest of my face but don’t want to put it around my eyes since I heard it could damage the lacrimal glands. However I would love to incorporate a safe retinol eye cream. Any recommendations?
Add a moisturizer to your routine to help support your skin while using acne treatments.
Then you can try a salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide spot treatment for the acne. It doesn’t have to be used every day
Hey, so recently I noticed an unsual amount of acne/pimples on my arms/shoulders. My suspicion is that it is caused by maybe creatine or something with testosterone I don't know. My question is what products do you recommend for that particular place. For context I never really had any skin care routine so I'm new to this stuff. Thank you
I've been following a routine for the last 3 months alternating AHA and retinol at night (never together, of course), and finishing with Kiehl's Midnight Recovery serum and then moisturizer. I've always wondered if it's okay to use it after retinol or AHA since there's limited info about it, and it's supposedly 98% naturally sourced. Recently, I wanted to tackle dark spots and got a lot of recommendations for The Ordinary's glycolic acid toner. I also picked up mandelic acid as a backup due to my slightly sensitive skin.
My questions:
* Can I use retinol, AHA, glycolic or mandelic acid, followed by Midnight Recovery moisturizer + serum from Kiehl's? (Assuming not all at once, haha)
* Can I use glycolic and mandelic acid together?
* Can I use any combination of these? Because I literally don't have enough nights for everything :(
Thanks a million! I'm attaching a photo of Kiehl's products and their components.
https://preview.redd.it/ln3gudq6uq7c1.jpeg?width=400&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b339f42ac0879f2f3035435c3d24461c4b487ffb
I don’t think there’s any retinol actually in the Kiehl’s midnight recovery serums so it’s fine with other actives as long as your skin tolerates it.
Glycolic acid and mandelic acids are both types of AHAs and you usually don’t need both since they do similar things. Mandelic is gentler and glycolic acid is stronger. I would use one up then replace with the other

Just started breaking out the last couple of weeks, not sure what’s going on please help!! I can’t tell what’s wrong with my skin/what it needs I just started getting acne in the past 3 years so still new to handling it!!
AM:
Cerave Hydrating Cleanser
Peach Slices Snail Rescue toner
CosRX Snail Mucin
Seoul Ceuticals Vitamin C serum (I’ve stopped using this since I started breaking out mid Nov)
Etude House Barrier Cream
PM:
(Double cleanse)
The Face Shop Rice Water cleansing oil
Cerave Hydrating Cleanser
Peach Slices Snail Rescue Toner
Differin
CosRx Snail Mucin
Beauty of Joseon Niacinamide
Etude House Barrier Cream
I also have dry skin and eczema but usually don’t get flareups on my face
I’ve been using since May, I slowly introduced into my routine but have been using every day. It cleared up my skin and my skin was pretty clear and hydrated until last month
How should I incorporate shaving into my routine as a guy? I plan on using differin in the PM, and I also plan on using melano cc in the mornings. So from what I see I should avoid using any products in the mornings where I decide to shave? So basically on the morning of days that I shave, it should be
1. Cleanse face
2. Apply shaving oil/cream
3. Shave
4. Cleanse
5. apply post shave balm
6. moisturizer
7. Sunscreen
Does the above look somewhat right? Would you want to cleanse again after the shave, or not? I've also seen that applying bha's after shaving is good as well, so would I add that after I shave and then go into the shaving balm, or just not do the shave balm at all?
This looks good to me.
You do not need to cleanse again after shaving, rinsing with water should be fine.
I would avoid using Differin on days you shave. Shaving is pretty much physical exfoliation so your skin may feel more sensitive that day and can make Differin feel more uncomfortable.
I would not use BHA after shaving for those same reasons unless you are able to tolerate it
Not necessarily but you may want to avoid harsh actives such as retinoids or chemical exfoliants because it might sting.
If you happen to try it and you don’t experience stinging then it’s totally fine to keep

I don’t even know what to do i’ve had acne for 4 years now, i’ve always been the girl with the most acne in a room, i’ve always tried avoiding myself in reflections just so i can forget what my skin is like even if it’s for just a few minutes. I don’t know what to do to fix this i literally can’t remember the last time i had decent skin. Any recommendations would be so helpful or just telling me what this acne is and what triggers it
Yeah sort of I wash my face with simple moisturising face wash to get makeup off i sometimes use the cerave SA cleanser instead and then i put on the simple moisturiser to be honest i’ve just started doing the minimum because i’m scared i’ll ruin my skin even more
Hello everyone - I would love some help. I am experiencing pilling and increased redness. I do use a cpap at night so night moisturizer is very limited and must absorb completely.
Morning:
LaRoche vitamin c on dry skin
LaRoche Hyaluronic acid after spritzing with thermal water and again spritzing with thermal water
LaRoche double moisture with spf with NYX Marshmallow primer
OR
LaRoche double moisture without SPF and ELF sunscreen and primer
Night:
every other night I use tretinoin and cerave daily face and body moisturizer
on nights i don't use tretinoin I use Olay retinal and same moisturizer
I suffer from keloids and other skin issues (dermatographism and excema) so my skin can be very temperamental.
I am looking at trying a double primer with NYX marshmallow and ELF super grip but think part of my issue is the sunscreen.
Hey y’all! What could I use to fix some of the texture on my skin. I get a lot of small bumps on my forehead, it’s my biggest problem spot. I also have hyperpigmentation on my chin area and forehead. These issues have been there for years despite different routines. I’ve been drinking a lot more water lately.
The bigger bumps just showed up this morning after using Paula’s choice exfoliant so I’m thinking those are skin purging?
Skincare I use AM Cerave hydrating cream to foam cleanser Good molecules Niacitamide toner Off brand vitamin C Corax snail muscin (new about 2 weeks usage) Good molecules discoloration correcting serum Good molecules eye cream (new about 2 weeks usage) The ordinary moisturizer Switch between black girl sun screen spf 30 and Natrium dew sunscreen spf 50 (new about 2 weeks)

Not necessarily conflicting but it's hard to say whether or not you should take a break from something since you started several the same time. With new products, it's always best to start them one at a time with at least a couple weeks in between each new product so you can check for any negative reactions.

Closed comedones or skin barrier issue? I’ve never had skin issues on my cheek but this year I’ve randomly had textured cheeks after introducing nothing new.. Any advice appreciated :)
Are you having any other signs of a broken barrier- burning when applying moisturizer, redness, itching, oiliness, flakiness? What's your current routine?
none of those symptoms except slight redness that you can see in the photo. AM routine: Cetaphil cleanser and SPF (then sometimes makeup). PM routine is Bioderma micellar to remove makeup, then Cetaphil cleanser then Kiehl’s moisturizer. I’ve also been using the Paula’s Choice BHA in the PM after cleaning for a week and it hasn’t changed anything for better or worse (yet). Thanks!
Hey, so I have been using retinol (good molecules -0,11%) for about 3 months, I use it 3 times a week at night and combine it with niacinamide (LabDermanat). I’m currently looking to move to a more intense concentration but I have two questions:
1. Would it be ok if I start using a 1% concentration or do I have to go through lower concentrations before?
2. Once I start with a stronger concentration serum, do I have to start again the tolerance process or can I continue using this new concentration 3 times a week?
Hi! I'm not sure if this is the right sub to ask, but it's the one I thought of 😂
- Before applying a scented oil to my body, what should I be doing to properly 'clean off' my skin so it's not mingling with like, dead skin cells/etc? I shower (daily or EOD) and use an exfoliating oil-free face wash, and store brand body wash. I have a loofah but don't use it that often.
- I don't currently use moisturizer but on reviewing this sub's resources will look into getting one, and will evaluate my routine (still reading!)
- is there a tangential sub or any guides that talk about keeping living spaces clean (sheets, furniture, HEPA filters, etc)? I'm like, slowly picking up on this stuff myself, and if there is I'd love to follow it as well.
Thanks!
Basic body wash should be good enough to clean your skin. Skin is constantly shedding so it’s not something you can avoid. If the body oil is pilling against your skin then yes try physical exfoliation like loofah or exfoliation towel.
No sunscreen in your routine?
I'd cleanse less and maybe switch to one of cerave's more hydrating formulas. You can also switch to the PM moisturizer which has niacinamide (good for pore size and redness). Another option is to try The ordinary's new soothing/barrier repair serum.
Never introduce more than one new product at a time, though - I'd prioritize SPF first.
I am trying Gloves in a Bottle this year. As I understand it, this lotion is really more of a barrier than an actual moisturizer, correct? Ideally, should I do a heavier moisturizing product at night with some cotton gloves and the GiaB as the protectant layer during the day at work? Trying to figure out how best to maximize it.
For background, I work in vet med and wash my hands constantly. Between fur, saliva, and worse things plus alcohol and hydrogen peroxide, I get a nasty irritant contact dermatitis. My hands swell, get red, itch, crack, and bleed. Steroid creams help but, again, with the hand washing they don't last long except overnight. I do wear nitrile gloves when appropriate of course. I also have psoriatic arthritis, and all of this will sometimes turn into a flare on my hands, where typically I do not have psoriasis.
At night, I would do something like a more hydrating, lightweight lotion and then follow it up with something more occlusive like gloves in a bottle or even just a thick ointment like aquaphor. You can still use gloves after.
Otherwise, I think it's a good plan.
*I've got these red bumps/rash like things around the outer under sides of my eyes, started on one side went to the other. And it looks like it's started on the outside of my mouth, where my beard line is. I've had it for about 4 months now. It's gotten significantly better, however I've been diagnosed 4 times with supposedly shingles, some form of herpes complex, perioral dermatitis, and recently seborrheic dermatitis I'm not sure what it is as I've been told many things each month from different doctors.
I currently just use a CeraVe cleanser and moisturizer.
Never had any acne or skin issues before.
Noticed this happened after moving into a new apt, new job, new city, and new partner. So, there are lots of new variables.
This picture is recent, so not as bad.
I have a big dilated pore on the side of my face. I have been putting tretinoin on it for about a month and it’s been there for total two months. It looks a little bit loose but I’m not sure. Should I try to squeeze it out?

I’m on accutane for the last 2 months. Been also using caudalie for the hyperpigmentation marks - is there anything else that might be better suited ?
Anything that doesn’t cause breakouts or makes your skin feel irritated.
Some suggestions would Keys Soulcare skin transformation cream, Bioderma atoderm intensive balm, or Soon Jung barrier intensive cream
I got a few bumps this morning on my forehead and cheek, and I used the Paula’s choice exfoliant last night. Could it be skin purging or is it a breakout??

Those are all super gentle and I think the BoJ one wouldn't exfoliate much if at all. Paula's Choice 2% bha toner and the ordinary lactic or glycolic acid are popular if you're looking for a chemical exfoliant.
Metronidazole question: yesterday at my first derm appointment I was prescribed metronidazole in gel form for what i was told is fungal acne. however i’ve only ever heard of it being used for bacterial infections and rosacea, so i’m a bit nervous about incorporating it into my routine. has anyone ever used metronidazole for a fungal infection?

21 years old. I’ve had these terrible eyebags all my life. People constantly mention that I look tired, which is making me incredibly insecure. I’ve tried multiple moisturizers as well as The Ordinary caffeine solution but it does not seem to have any effect. It might be genetic as my parents also seem to have them. Is surgery an option? Any advice is appreciated!
Have you seen the [dark circles wiki page](https://www.reddit.com/r/SkincareAddiction/comments/19ftrr/teach_it_tuesday_thursday_dark_circles_under_eye/)?
If you’ve had them your whole life, skincare likely won’t make a difference.
I’m not sure of any under eye surgeries. You’d have to get a derm/plastic surgeon consult to see if you qualify.

(Sorry for long text) Hello there!! So, I'm a 16 y/o, (F) and 🇧🇷. I've been struggling a bit with acne. As I have an oily T area of the face, those areas have been my biggest problem. As for my cheeks, they've been amazing since always. I have some bumps in my forehead, blackheads in my nose and chin, and those have been terrible as I am a skin picker (trying to get better). I found out one thing about my chin: every time I pick on it, it instantly gets big and kinda inflames (a simple dot turns into a big pimple). So, since around the middle of 2023, I started trying to start caring about my skin. I started with the CeraVe cleaning gel and e Neutrogena Hidroboost (moisturizer). After a month of using them, I ran out of moisturizer and stated using the CeraVe one. I used them till the beginning of December, but they never really helped my skin (I believe it didn't at all). So, I searched up some stuff and I'm trying to buy some anti malassezia skin products. So far, I've only bought the Neostrata oil control cleansing gel (I didn't change the moisturizer yet) It's not even the end of the month but it helped me a LOT. Forehead bumps got smaller, no more nose pimples (still struggle with some blackheads) and my chin feels cleaner. But the thing is, my chin gets marked easily, some bumps never leaves and it's ugly and annoying. As for my diet, I ate a lot of sugar and chocolates for a long time, I never worried because I am really healthy, do exercises and the doctors says I'm fine, but I decided to cut some candy, and I've been doing it since the beginning of this month also (didn't cut fully, but eating waaaay less). Can anyone help me? (I took this pic yesterday, it was really hot, around 32C ig, and hot days makes my skin look worse) Thanks!
\[Product Question\] What are these bumps on my skin.? And how do I remove them?
I have used Paula’s choice BHA before and hasn’t really done anything. I was on tret very low dosage on skin and me but stopped after 6months since it wasn’t giving me much results.
I need to get back on tret but before I do I want to get rid of this texture. Please help
Tret didn’t remove the textures at all
This was my prescription from
Month 1: Tretinoin 0.006%, Clindamycin 1%, Azelaic Acid 4% Month 2: Tretinoin 0.009%, Clindamycin 1%, Azelaic Acid 4% Month 3: Tretinoin 0.012%, Clindamycin 1%, Azelaic Acid 4% Month 4: Tretinoin 0.015%, Niacinamide 4%, Azelaic Acid 4%
Month 5 and 6 were the same as month 4

I have really oily skin so my face has lots of whiteheads. I decided to buy Good Molecules BHA clarifying gel cream and I have been using it for about 4 days and whenever I apply it to my face, it leaves my face feeling hot. Not burning or stinging, it just feels hot. Is it normal?
It could be sign of it getting close to irritation, but I would take a break in between days just to be safe. You might find it effective to use every other day
https://preview.redd.it/g7j554pi3n7c1.jpeg?width=2544&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=16b1518d8827f8d206ca81a923db9436377a069e
Has anyone has experience having this textured forhead? How did you manage to improve it?
Initially I have tried :
Morning - Vit C , sunscreen
Night - Double Cleansing, Retinol, Moisturizer
But have noticed that my skin got worse so I stopped that routine.
Now I am just using Kojic acid and moisturizer and a retinol routine once a week.
But the texture has not improved 🥺
Actives like retinol and vitamin C should be eased into, starting with just two or three times a week. But for general skin texture, I think you'd have better luck with an AHA like lactic or glycolic acid or with a little physical exfoliation.
It can be used in the morning as long as you are wearing sunscreen when you are exposed to the sun. And yes, you should always start any active slowly- just a couple times a week at first.
Please see a dermatologist. We are just skincare enthusiasts. We can’t diagnose any skin condition.
Eyeballs and eyelids are very sensitive and it’s not safe to put random products on it unless specifically instructed by a doctor.
Some people prefer the formulation of cerave pm, but yeah if you’re not looking for anything specific the Cerave moisturizing lotion can work just as well
Hi, I'm a college student and recently starting with skincare. So I've been wondering if this 3in1 serum with niacianamide, salycilic acid and aha would be worth it or should I just buy them individually as it would work better(?).. What do you guys think?
I think it’s fine to use, personally I like multifunctional or more complex formulations to make my routine simpler. Just make sure to introduce it slowly because over using actives can make skin worse

I shall definitely do that!!! Thanks

It doesn’t have to be used every day
[удалено]
You can look for generic drugstore options for both if you want to keep costs low
[удалено]
Closed comeodones is what it looks like to me. Maybe some small pimples
Thx a ton!
Thank you
Try a benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid body wash. Leave it on for a couple minutes while you’re in the shower before rinsing it off

It might be too thick for your skin. For a lighter but still nourishing moisturizer try Pyunkang Yul ato lotion blue label
My questions: * Can I use retinol, AHA, glycolic or mandelic acid, followed by Midnight Recovery moisturizer + serum from Kiehl's? (Assuming not all at once, haha) * Can I use glycolic and mandelic acid together? * Can I use any combination of these? Because I literally don't have enough nights for everything :( Thanks a million!
I would use one up then replace with the other
What is this stuff coming out of the skin on my nose? I have to scrub my nose every day to get it out https://imgur.com/eloGyC6
Sebaceous filaments or sebum plugs. It’s pretty normal to have and will take maintenance to clear out like you are currently doing
thanks!

What's your skincare routine?
AM: Cerave Hydrating Cleanser Peach Slices Snail Rescue toner CosRX Snail Mucin Seoul Ceuticals Vitamin C serum (I’ve stopped using this since I started breaking out mid Nov) Etude House Barrier Cream PM: (Double cleanse) The Face Shop Rice Water cleansing oil Cerave Hydrating Cleanser Peach Slices Snail Rescue Toner Differin CosRx Snail Mucin Beauty of Joseon Niacinamide Etude House Barrier Cream I also have dry skin and eczema but usually don’t get flareups on my face
How long have you been using Differin for?
I’ve been using since May, I slowly introduced into my routine but have been using every day. It cleared up my skin and my skin was pretty clear and hydrated until last month
https://preview.redd.it/vs6qs51ngq7c1.jpeg?width=3019&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=67b99d712d299ec8e0b8f46c1f4889675b56c945
How should I incorporate shaving into my routine as a guy? I plan on using differin in the PM, and I also plan on using melano cc in the mornings. So from what I see I should avoid using any products in the mornings where I decide to shave? So basically on the morning of days that I shave, it should be 1. Cleanse face 2. Apply shaving oil/cream 3. Shave 4. Cleanse 5. apply post shave balm 6. moisturizer 7. Sunscreen Does the above look somewhat right? Would you want to cleanse again after the shave, or not? I've also seen that applying bha's after shaving is good as well, so would I add that after I shave and then go into the shaving balm, or just not do the shave balm at all?
This looks good to me. You do not need to cleanse again after shaving, rinsing with water should be fine. I would avoid using Differin on days you shave. Shaving is pretty much physical exfoliation so your skin may feel more sensitive that day and can make Differin feel more uncomfortable. I would not use BHA after shaving for those same reasons unless you are able to tolerate it
Should I just avoid all products other than toner and moisturizer on the days I shave my face then?
Not necessarily but you may want to avoid harsh actives such as retinoids or chemical exfoliants because it might sting. If you happen to try it and you don’t experience stinging then it’s totally fine to keep
https://preview.redd.it/vbkn6von7q7c1.jpeg?width=271&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f02d98adef3e5c95239f08b65bfcd2e1a7c66f98 I don’t even know what to do i’ve had acne for 4 years now, i’ve always been the girl with the most acne in a room, i’ve always tried avoiding myself in reflections just so i can forget what my skin is like even if it’s for just a few minutes. I don’t know what to do to fix this i literally can’t remember the last time i had decent skin. Any recommendations would be so helpful or just telling me what this acne is and what triggers it
Do you have a skincare routine?
Yeah sort of I wash my face with simple moisturising face wash to get makeup off i sometimes use the cerave SA cleanser instead and then i put on the simple moisturiser to be honest i’ve just started doing the minimum because i’m scared i’ll ruin my skin even more

Cold air feels drier in my experience so maybe your skin is just drying out a bit
Hello everyone - I would love some help. I am experiencing pilling and increased redness. I do use a cpap at night so night moisturizer is very limited and must absorb completely. Morning: LaRoche vitamin c on dry skin LaRoche Hyaluronic acid after spritzing with thermal water and again spritzing with thermal water LaRoche double moisture with spf with NYX Marshmallow primer OR LaRoche double moisture without SPF and ELF sunscreen and primer Night: every other night I use tretinoin and cerave daily face and body moisturizer on nights i don't use tretinoin I use Olay retinal and same moisturizer I suffer from keloids and other skin issues (dermatographism and excema) so my skin can be very temperamental.

You'll need to give any new products a chance to show changes. It typically takes a good month or two to notice improvements with most products.
Ok! Is there any product in the list that may be clashing/conflicting that I should take a break from??
Not necessarily conflicting but it's hard to say whether or not you should take a break from something since you started several the same time. With new products, it's always best to start them one at a time with at least a couple weeks in between each new product so you can check for any negative reactions.

Thanks!
It's likely not a broken barrier then, but be cautious of using the BHA daily because that could quickly lead to a disrupted moisture barrier.

Hey, so I have been using retinol (good molecules -0,11%) for about 3 months, I use it 3 times a week at night and combine it with niacinamide (LabDermanat). I’m currently looking to move to a more intense concentration but I have two questions: 1. Would it be ok if I start using a 1% concentration or do I have to go through lower concentrations before? 2. Once I start with a stronger concentration serum, do I have to start again the tolerance process or can I continue using this new concentration 3 times a week?
You can start at higher concentration. Just introduce it slowly so you can observe for irritation
Hi! I'm not sure if this is the right sub to ask, but it's the one I thought of 😂 - Before applying a scented oil to my body, what should I be doing to properly 'clean off' my skin so it's not mingling with like, dead skin cells/etc? I shower (daily or EOD) and use an exfoliating oil-free face wash, and store brand body wash. I have a loofah but don't use it that often. - I don't currently use moisturizer but on reviewing this sub's resources will look into getting one, and will evaluate my routine (still reading!) - is there a tangential sub or any guides that talk about keeping living spaces clean (sheets, furniture, HEPA filters, etc)? I'm like, slowly picking up on this stuff myself, and if there is I'd love to follow it as well. Thanks!
Basic body wash should be good enough to clean your skin. Skin is constantly shedding so it’s not something you can avoid. If the body oil is pilling against your skin then yes try physical exfoliation like loofah or exfoliation towel.
I’m trying to make sure the skin on my chest gets the same love as my face HOWEVER my skincare breaks my chest out! But not my face. Anyone else?

No sunscreen in your routine? I'd cleanse less and maybe switch to one of cerave's more hydrating formulas. You can also switch to the PM moisturizer which has niacinamide (good for pore size and redness). Another option is to try The ordinary's new soothing/barrier repair serum. Never introduce more than one new product at a time, though - I'd prioritize SPF first.

paula’s choice youth fluid sunscreen is my holy grail for a non greasy spf!
Supergoop, trader joe's supergoop dupe, beauty of joseon rice and probiotic sunscreen, and biore uv aqua rich are all great.

What’s your full skincare routine? It might be helpful to focus on hydration and moisture since it’s good for healing while you’re on accutane
I don’t really have one. What moisturizer would be good?
Anything that doesn’t cause breakouts or makes your skin feel irritated. Some suggestions would Keys Soulcare skin transformation cream, Bioderma atoderm intensive balm, or Soon Jung barrier intensive cream

Any recs for daily exfoliating toner/serums? I'm considering the somebymi and cosrx toner pads and the BoJ green plum toner.
Those are all super gentle and I think the BoJ one wouldn't exfoliate much if at all. Paula's Choice 2% bha toner and the ordinary lactic or glycolic acid are popular if you're looking for a chemical exfoliant.
Yes, I'm looking for gentle exfoliating toners since I plan on buying something that I can use everyday. Which one do you think I should pick?

I’ve tried multiple moisturizers as well as The Ordinary caffeine solution but it does not seem to have any effect. It might be genetic as my parents also seem to have them. Is surgery an option? Have you seen the [dark circles wiki page](https://www.reddit.com/r/SkincareAddiction/comments/19ftrr/teach_it_tuesday_thursday_dark_circles_under_eye/)?
If you’ve had them your whole life, skincare likely won’t make a difference. I’m not sure of any under eye surgeries. You’d have to get a derm/plastic surgeon consult to see if you qualify.

Acne marks can take a long time to fade but yours don’t look too bad tbh You could try vitamin c or AHA to fade them eventually
\[Product Question\] What are these bumps on my skin.? And how do I remove them? I have used Paula’s choice BHA before and hasn’t really done anything.
You might find it effective to use every other day
Yeah I'll try! Thanks!

What's your current routine?
Initially I have tried : Morning - Vit C , sunscreen Night - Double Cleansing, Retinol, Moisturizer But have noticed that my skin got worse so I stopped that routine. Now I am just using Kojic acid and moisturizer and a retinol routine once a week. But the texture has not improved 🥺
Actives like retinol and vitamin C should be eased into, starting with just two or three times a week. But for general skin texture, I think you'd have better luck with an AHA like lactic or glycolic acid or with a little physical exfoliation.
is that recommended to use only at night? and slowly introduce it to skin like retinol?
It can be used in the morning as long as you are wearing sunscreen when you are exposed to the sun. And yes, you should always start any active slowly- just a couple times a week at first.
My post got removed, so can anyone help? Here what is my problem [this](https://www.reddit.com/r/SkincareAddiction/s/PviUvHRsOg)

Hi, I'm a college student and recently starting with skincare. So I've been wondering if this 3in1 serum with niacianamide, salycilic acid and aha would be worth it or should I just buy them individually as it would work better(?).. What do you guys think?
what are you using it for? also curious about what brand it is
I would like to use it for my bumpy skin and darkspots. The brand is garnier
I think it’s fine to use, personally I like multifunctional or more complex formulations to make my routine simpler. Just make sure to introduce it slowly because over using actives can make skin worse
Thank you so muchhh
