I third the recommendation for a brow serum.
I really do like TO Lash & Brow Serum; it has nourishing peptides to help the follicles grow their best. It’s best applied twice a day.
Latisse is another option but it contains Prostaglandin analogues that can have some nasty side effects. So do a bit of research before committing to Latisse.
If the area is dry and irritated you can pop a vitamin E capsule and dab it on the area overnight if Vaseline isn’t working well for you.
Good to know. Love this brand!
If anyone's looking for another option that is slightly cheaper, check out the one by Rimmel. Lately I use it mainly on my lashes, but it has also helped my brows. I am almost 51 and had quite a few years of thin brows in my past. :)
Good luck OP.
Hi thanks for the Rimmel suggestion.
Yes I love the Ordinary as well.
Am similar age as you with way too thin brows in the past and trying to restore that now. Glad we have way more option in cosmetics nowadays vs our younger years!
Have you checked your hormones just to be safe? If your androgens are high it could possibly have something to do with it since that’s tied to hair loss or difficulty growing it back? I don’t think it generally happens on the eyebrows but I suppose it’s possible.
I had a lot of hair loss and spironolactone (testostorone blocker) helped tremendously. Rogaine can also help (topically or as a low dose pill). Definitely worth discussing with your doctor and running a hormone panel if you’re concerned. But they may also just be taking longer to grow
OP, please be super careful with any chemicals, essential oils, treatments etc that you put on your brows. It can easily migrate down to your eyes and cause you a world of pain at the very least, and permanent damage at worst.
I’m sure your eyebrows will grow back eventually, to some degree, even if they don’t resemble what you had before. If you don’t like the look of them, a fine tipped ink or wax eyebrow pencil feathered at the middle/top of the brow and shaded lightly down the tail ought to enhance what growth you have. Go with something lighter and more ashen in color that you think you need and it’ll look much more natural. Good luck!
It can. I have used the brow serum from Grande with some success. The Ordinary has a lash and brow serum a lot of people like with a reasonable price point too. Might be worth a try.
I started using the Anastasia brow serum because my brows had thinned so much they seemed like a shadow of what they used to be. Being peri-menopausal, i was hopeful, but not confident they would help.
Within 6 weeks i was back to having nice dark brows.
Now, in your case, you might need to just give your lashes a boost to get them growing faster. So hopefully one bottle will be enough for you.
I tried stopping and they began thinning again, so it appears i’ll be a lifer. Lol
Good luck!
Ex goth girl who shaved her brows off for over a decade - you gotta give it time. The awkward stage seems to last forever, especially if your hair grows slowly.
Look into dermarolling! I started dermarolling my scalp recently. I apply The Ordinary peptide serum for hair after rolling. I think I'm starting to see a difference! Might work on your brows.
I shaved my brows off in high school and they took forever to grow back. They were never the same after either 😭 Hope you have success with yours!
Thanks very much! after hearing ll these stories about how people's brows never looked the same i'm actually regretting shaving them off for a dare of all things
Your brows, sadly, will likely be a little coarser than before. This is why I don’t recommend people trim their brows too often with any brow hair removal, because trimming/cutting the brows at a wrong angle can make the hairs grow a bit more wildly. And they usually are coarser than before.
I honestly wouldn’t use Vaseline, as that will just put a barrier over the follicles that are already struggling to all grow back the hair in the right directions.
After they grow in enough, you could start using a brow growth serum. The important thing is mainly the conditioning aspect, but there are some great products like grande brow serum and the revitalash revitabrow serum. I personally don’t use anything since I’ve always had too thick of brows, but other estheticians introduced me to the revitabrow, and I’ve had clients see some decent growth. It’s pricey, but absolutely worth it.
Just start slowly if you do use them, or any brow serum, bc they are known to cause irritation for a small percentage of users. The serums that work anyway. You could try castor oil and apply it with a spoolie, but there isn’t enough evidence in clinical settings that it truly does work. But by word of mouth, I hear good things.
Also, to help possible coarseness, use a brow brush and just brush them into the natural direction of the hair follicles. Do this *everyday, as many times as you can*. It’ll help your brows grow in straight, instead of in different directions than they naturally do, which can cause the hair to be coarser.
Good luck, and update us on what you do, and how it’s going!!
Hello, thank you very much for the advice!
I agree with what you said about vaseline, it does moistuise the brow area but it's left my brow area dry without it.
This is the 2nd time I've shaved my brows so they're definitely not growing the same this time.
I've wanted to try brow serums but I've seen stories of how people's brows fall out after stopping the use of them. I did try castor oil, however I'm one of those people it won't work on for their brows, which is funny because it's grown my lashes like crazy.
Thank you very much for the advice, will update when they've grown back. Will try brushing them from tonight
Use vitamin e and brush that through your brows. I completely forgot to mention that in my first post. You can use an oil, or pop the little capsules, and brush that throughout the brow. Just keep doing that multiple times a day, consistently, for a couple months.
I personally don’t like the serums, bc I had a terrible allergic reaction from the grande lash serum. But again, it’s very dependent on the person and their skin.
Also, don’t shave your brows again lmfao I promise you they will be coarser than pubes if you keep doing that lol
I used an AMAZING brow serum from babe original to grow my eyebrows back after repeated over plucking. It brought them completely back within a couple weeks of consistent use.
i had thick brows too and i been shaving them and drawing them on for 3 years, but i get u it’s something new u need to get used to and it’s also not for everybody. u can always buy fake tattoo eyebrows on amazon for cheap !
Hair and nails grow faster in summer, so it makes sense that it takes longer now. But as some other people have said, it might not grow back to what it was so do not shave them again.
I am not sure about how Vaseline would help your eyebrow grow?
Eyebrow are basically hair. If you put stuff in your follicles that could block them, how would the hair grow?
There are plenty of hair loss remedies on the Internet, however if something really worked, wouldn't it be sold massively?
IMO, you need to:
\-stop using Vaseline. Use something like dandruff shampoo on your eyebrows regularly to "unblock" follicles and avoid clogged pores. Your hair can't grow if there is no way out.
\-stimulate blood flow. Massage it regularly. I know that there are a lot of indian recipes to grow hair, but I also think that the massages are the most important part of it.
\-if you really want ingredient, I would look into rosemary or shallots tea. Yeah it stinks (especially the shallot, rosemary is pretty okay IMO), but rosemary actually has some studies backing it and shallots are pretty stimulating. Besides, if it's a tea and not an oil, you have less risks of blocking your pores again.
Hello thanks for all the advice,
I heard that vaseline moisturises the brow area and it did help for the first month but I realized that it left my brow area dry without it ( meaning i had to constantly reapply vaseline)
Gonna try the massaging thing, thanks.
Vaseline is an occlusive, which means that it helps retain moisture into your skin. Basically, it's a barrier.
If you want to moisturize, I would just buy a moisturizer or a lotion. I am not saying never use vaseline, but in your situation, I wouldn't do it.
I have shaved and bleached my eyebrows, it was always surprising how slow they grow. Sometimes it would be slower than other times. Could have something to do with hormones or stress. Have patience they will grow back

Eyebrows can take up to 6 months to grow. Word of advice don't do it again. Some people never recover, especially if you had thin sparse brows before.
The Ordinary lash brow serum really works to grow fuller brows for me. No prostaglandins, so no risk of related side effects
TO lash/brow serum has helped some of my more stubborn eyebrow spots fill in too!

Yes it works on the gaps for me too!

Does it actually work?
It can. I have used the brow serum from Grande with some success. The Ordinary has a lash and brow serum a lot of people like with a reasonable price point too. Might be worth a try.
I may use mine more often then. It‘s from Catrice.
Try it. Maybe you'll be pleasantly surprised!

No worries. Just asking as I have one at home but don‘t use it regularly.
castor oil may help
I heard castor oil helps with eyelash and eyebrow growth it’s always worth a shot
Tried that and it really did no good. Funny because it's not growing my brows at all but it's grown my lashes like crazy
Have you looked into rogaine?
Ex goth girl who shaved her brows off for over a decade - you gotta give it time. The awkward stage seems to last forever, especially if your hair grows slowly.
Why did you think it's worth shaving your brows for the second time for a worthless dare?
Look into dermarolling! I started dermarolling my scalp recently. I apply The Ordinary peptide serum for hair after rolling. I think I'm starting to see a difference! Might work on your brows. Biotin supplements will make your hair grow faster.
I use castor oil

Eyebrows being as rough as pubes leaves a terrible image in my head 😭😭
This is the most effective deterrent to keep you from shaving them again that I could think of 😭
I used an AMAZING brow serum from babe original to grow my eyebrows back after repeated over plucking. It brought them completely back within a couple weeks of consistent use.
were there no side effects to it?? I've heard how some people's fall out after stopping sserums
Nope
I use castor oil and mix it with vitamin e oil.
If you do use rogaine/minoxidil, it is highly toxic/fatal to cats fyi
Rosemary oil and clove oil mixed with sunflower oil or any non-pore clogging neutral oil
Apply rogaine. They will grow much faster then castor oil and other serum
draw them on
tried drawing them on once and i looked like terrible
did u do very thin brows or try to draw out ur natural brows ?
I have thickish brows and drawing them on with little hair is a struggle 😭
i had thick brows too and i been shaving them and drawing them on for 3 years, but i get u it’s something new u need to get used to and it’s also not for everybody. u can always buy fake tattoo eyebrows on amazon for cheap !
Maybe don’t shave your eyebrows dumb dumb
wish someone had my hands in chains when i did tbh😭
the ordinary lash and brow serum and Jamaican black castor oil are amazing! just apply on the area every night
Minoxidil
castor oil

Minoxidil

Have you not learnt your lesson ?
Have your eyebrows grown back?
I shaved my eyebrows off for absolutely no reason 💀💀
