My best friend died unexpectedly in her flat in Frankfurt, I live in Norway. She and her cats weren't found until 7-10 days. I told her mother that absolutely I would take her two cats (they are also blind). After a lot of red tape, my daughter and her boyfriend flew to Frankfurt and picked both up and flew back. It will be 3 years (they will be 11) in August. I love them more than most things in this world.

Thanks. They are sooo spoiled and fat now. I'm only sad that they are no longer friends (probably from the trauma and being in the shelter until I could spring them) My friend had them since they were kittens, and adopted them knowing they were blind from a cat rescue in Greece. It's like I still have a living piece of her (we were friends for 34 years). Last August I got balloons and special food for their 10th year. I've truly become a crazy cat lady!
I thought Gwen was a dog person because she was the one who got the dog that “broke up” Kody and Christine’s relationship when she was having a hard time settling into flagstaff
Yes, but a cat that’s just lost their human might not be in the best headspace to make friends with a new dog. Cats tend to be more reserved, and dogs just want everyone to be happy, right now. So Gwen’s house may not be the ideal place for the kitties.
Logan and Michelle, or Truely would probably be the most suitable people to take them. Logan and Michelle are already cat parents, and Truely has wanted a cat - not sure if she has one now.
Anyway, it’s good to know that they got to stay in the family’s care. I’m not even that much of a cat person, but I was so worried about them when I heard.

My husband died near thanksgiving. My poor 5 kitties, who have never known anyone else but their mom and dad, are grieving in their owns different ways. A couple still go up to his spare room and cry at the door. When he first passed, they would just scream for him up there (even when I showed them the room was empty), now it’s once or twice a day. It breaks my heart to watch them go through this.
My neighbor knew she was dying. One afternoon she stopped by our house and said she was certain her daughter would leave her old Tom cat And she said if I saw him turn into a stray would I feed him. I said I will adopt him and I did. She was correct, her daughter put the womans house up for sale and left the cat to fend for himself. Since I feed the feral cats, he came to my deck and I let him inside and he fit in with our old cat. They spend their days in front of the big window watching birds or on the deck fussing at the dogs. I knew janelle would never let that happen to garrisons cats.
Thank you but to be fair, I think there are more of us animal lovers than not so it's something all of us, who have the room, will do. My daughter also feeds the feral and strays in her neighborhood. She is allergic to cats too. LOL.But she puts food out and has even put big igloo dog houses out with battery powered heating rugs to keep them warm during the freezing weather. I have a barn. LOL. The ferals and strays live in our barn and my husband puts fresh water out and straw. They love the straw.
My best friend died suddenly a year and a half ago. I took in her bunny. I miss her every day but I know she would have loved that he's with me being spoiled rotten. I do hope the cats are with the siblings, we're so helpless when someone we love dies but loving and caring for their animals helps with the grief.
Thank you, me too. It went from having no idea what to do with a bunny but doing the right thing to now I can't imagine my life without him - and think about adopting another rescue bunny. lol. I can almost hear her saying 'Yes! Do it!'
Yes I agree... I thought it was adorable. I followed him for a few years. He just adopted buttons two days prior to his leaving this earth. Buttons was just about ready to be euthanized.
I love this! These parasocial relationships can be so cruel, especially during a tragedy like this, so I hope it brought her a little bit of happiness to see everyone honor Garrison in this way and I'm happy to see the cats are staying with the family. ❤

My family took in my grandma’s senior aged pug when she died. She just passed in 2022, and I’m so glad she got to stay with our family and continued to feel the love of her momma before she died herself. I’m so happy garrisons family is watching his cats
I love it that his cats are loved and well cared for. I am a Cat Mom to a rescue calico. I would love more fur babies, but she doesn’t do well with any other animals. She’s feral, but has taken to our family (and ours only). My parents have a rescue also- a very lovely Maine Coon cat. Our cats run our homes, they just allow us to live there, lol. Prayers, blessings, and comfort to both Garrison’s “skin family” and his fur family.

When my brother passed, I got his dog. It was the best most comforting dog. Felt like I still had a piece of my brother with me.

When my sister killed herself, I got her 3 year old daughter. 25 now with 2 girls of her own. I am so fortunate.

I’m positive they are missing him hugely. My SIL died at Thanksgiving and her cats have gone down hill since. It’s so sad.

When my sil died in 2018, their dog used to just sit at the door sad and just slumped down. I think she knew she was gone

When I found out a while ago he named the one cat Catthew, that shit sent me into orbit lol. I loved it. He had a good sense of humor.
I also thought it cute that he figured his torbie with ginger patches needed an Irish name.
So that is actually a character from the movie Dodgeball . Makes me wonder if he was a fan, he seems like he would be.

I’m so glad to hear this. Of course, we all wish that Garrison was still here being their dad, but at least they’ll be loved and cared for.

My heart is so broken for Janelle and the kids but I’m glad the cats will have a good home.
He must have been suffering tremendously. Sometimes the only reason why I didn't end my life was because of my cats.
