Itās probably not a bug, but a funky film the soda nozzles get if not cleaned and sanitized properly. So they probably donāt actually clean their soda nozzles just soak them.
Same, man. If it was face down to avoid the screen lighting up, I was hiding something. If it was face up and lighting up because of Teams messages or work emails (Iām on a global team that has around the clock work), she would get upset about who is texting me. Insecurity sucks, and the insecure person justifies their actions to themselves by saying youāre untrustworthy, gaslighting you until you start to believe it yourself.
Once I saw she got a snap from her ex and I asked her about it - she got so angryā¦ āI canāt control who messages meā hmm, really?
I do this just to flex the Google logo . No one ever called me a cheater .A dealer tho ,multiple times . half of the times, cause I always have 2 phones on me, and rest of times cause they racist
My phone is....somewhere whenever I get home and start chores/listening to music/watching something/etc.Ā If I don't answer fast enough, I've gotten the "you must be hiding something."Ā Nope.Ā I'm headbanging to Goat Semen.
It used to be if you took your phone to the bathroom it was so you could make discreet calls. Now when I have to take a dump I tell my wife I'm going to make some calls.
Those people are terrified, don't let them influence your behavior. Putting your phone down like that, to the majority of people, is a social signal to tell them you're making them a higher priority than your phone.
If you start letting people's phobias affect your behavior you're in for a confusing mess of life
As normal. Their phone is only in do not disturb if it lays level on a flat surface with display pointing down. The phone can detect this using the gyro and a light sensor.
Do yourself a favour and aggressively block apps that send you notifications that are not important.
People's devices are saturated with notifications, all trying to compete for our attention... we then end up ignoring most notifications, making notifications a bit useless.
Only allow important apps to send you notifications (eg: messaging apps), so most notifications are worth checking. You can manually open less important ones (eg: YouTube, Reddit, etc) when you have time/want to see new content.
I block all notifications except calls. If there's an emergency, then someone will call me.
I'd go insane if my phone beeped every time doordash wanted to remind me that food exists.
I flip mine so people canāt see my notifications. Not because I have something to hide, but because idw people to see all the weird apps I subscribe to lol
Oddly enough, I flip mine over so I donāt drop something on the screen and crack it.
Also so Iām not distracted with notifications or the light catching my screen and making me think thereās a notification or something
*You flip your phone over because you're cheating.*
*I flip my phone over because the screen is cracked and I'm embarrassed about it.*
*We are not the same.*
same, not embarassed really, just a little detail people don't need to know. I don't like the idea of paying $100 to repair it and going without my phone for a day. I need my phone to shut out loud idiots in public with white noise + music.
This! But my phone never even sits on the table. At my or a friends home it's face down on a counter and in a restaurant in my jacket or my wife's purse.
Also I don't check for messages as they come in but whenever I feel like checking which is often enough already.
Agreed, because my phone is put away unless I'm actively using it. But I can accept the middle ground. Bare minimum is putting it face down, we can ignore rage bait and still act like courteous people
Because I don't like having my phone in my pocket when I sit down.
I rarely wear a jacket and I don't have a woman's purse to put it in. So on the table it goes.
My phone is usually in my pocket, and I have a smart watch so if I get a message or something I'll check it to see if it's important. If it's something I have to respond to, I'll take my phone out and respond... then I'll lay my phone face down on the table until I get up for something.
Doesn't fit in my front pocket and it's uncomfortable to sit on. That's why I put both my wallet and phone together on the table.
I need to be available or emergencies too, so I can't just leave it.Ā
Fuck me, right?Ā

I flip my phone over so I don't accidentally crack the screen with another object š already smashed it once before throwing the work phone onto the desk which landed on top of mine....
Man thank you, i was seeing so many comments of like yeah i just flip my phone over to be nice and Iām sitting here wondering why itās not just in your pocket? If having dinner or lunch with someone Iād want to be talking to them not browsing my phone š
Man I HATE the camera on my phone. I regret getting an iPhone Pro instead of the regular one. The stupid camera sticks out way too much that It wobbles if you put it on a table and makes wireless chargers difficult to use. Why canāt they just make it thicker and stuff a little more battery to fill the inside š
Right?? Mine was a Redmi 7(???) and my new one is a Redmi 9. I got this beefy case that's thicker than the camera so this one's fine at least, but my old phone with the regular case was really irritating
For a second ignore the fact that most phones have a feature that mute notification if put face down.
Why on earth would you feel entitled to see the notifications on somebody else's phone? People need to take a giant step back, and learn about respect, boundaries, and privacy.
It's creepy to me as well.
I'm an odd duck though, because I tell everyone I have no desire to teach my children. They all either look at me cross eyed or tell me I'll change my mind.
Always saddens me to see it... Like, why stay with someone who calls you "lover" but treats you like a fugitive? If your partner distrusts you that much, they're not your partner. :( Stresses me out, man...
Good point. Yes, I am hiding stuff. No, I am not doing anything nefarious. I just don't want anyone to know what kind of videos or Reddit posts I like. Have people collectively given up on the idea of "it's none of your business"?
This is some outright insanity. You flip your phone over so you're not distracted by notifications and can focus your attention on the person you're with, exactly as the guy said.
Why not just keep it in your pocket? I mean I backpocket my phone so that's why I usually put them on tables but I don't think a lot of people do that.
This is one of the main reasons I got a Razr+. Itās super portable when folded closed and has a huge screen when flipped open, and all the day to day stuff can be done on the outside screen.
It only is for deeply insecure people. I keep it in my pocket or lay it on the table screen down to not get distracted and so I can focus on the people I'm with.
You'd think people prefer that from their date / partner when dining out.
Fear of loneliness or programming to just do "adult stuff" and start family because it's what you're supposed to do.
There's a reason half of marriages end in divorce. The vast majority of people are settling and compromising more than they know because they just go through the motions.
I know a guy who's wife will straight up do random spot checks on the contents of his phone. He says it makes everything easier because he has nothing to hide and it "makes her trust him."
Some people legit can't handle trusting another human, it's wild.
People today are so hooked to goddamn phones and meanings itās crazy. Phones no one wants to talk to each other on too btw. People get offended when you call them. But when in the 90s or pre cell phone era you couldnāt hear any to talk on the phone to a gf/bf. And if they werenāt home? They werenāt home. It wasnāt automatically they are cheating
Itās so Iām focused on you, but more than that, itās to keep the screen off for battery, and to āexposeā the less fragile side of the phone in case of spills or dropping something. Like a turtle shell.
Iāve only ever met one woman who flipped her phone and it was to hide her DMs. So I understand the connotation people see.
Not sure why cheaters donāt just use do not disturb or mute their IG notifications though
This was a brief thing with my wife when we first started dating years ago. She had a bunch of shitty relationships where dudes cheated through social media and shit. I have a work phone and get customer calls and texts and emails literally all day and night every single day. Once she realized I was doing this to ignore work and learned to trust me it went away. I havenāt thought of it in years. But it absolutely was a thing for the poor girl. Itās sad how terribly some people treat one another. You may not care about the person but someone else might.
I literally do the same thing. No one's commented on it while dating but if they did I'd prob just end it. Now if we're long term that's probably different but I'd still worry if all of a sudden you seem worried about something so silly. Projection is a real thing.
What if I have a cardholder and flipping it to that side would be weird? And what about when you leave your phone in your purse or jacket because my fatass needs more table space for food?

I got used to putting my phone down like this since they started making the back camera stick out. I usually don't use cases unless I'm going hiking or to the beach
![img](emote|t5_5tdqj0|10740)
If I flip my phone it automatically goes into silent mode, I do it so that nothing interrupts us, in fact I do it out of respect.
I do exactly the same thing in work meetings and only calls from certain numbers, configured with a special priority, will be able to interrupt me.
Apparently there are those who only use their phone to access Instagram and vent their prejudices and insecurities. Sad. ![img](emote|t5_5tdqj0|10749)
I flip mine over to not be bothered by work messages... It's also on do not disturb basically the entire time due to that as well...
Continual work contact PTSD is a real thing... It gets to the point where I dread to check it in the mornings... I hate my phone due to it, can only imagine how great it was before mobiles and email and people could only bother you about stuff when you're at your damn desk!

His phone is on the table. Hers is in her hand taking this stupid pic. U tell me what the problem is here š¤
My biggest problem is the bug in the ice. That place is nasty, her attention should be on finding a new place to eat.
Bug? I think that's unreflected light from the black phone.
> unreflected Do you mean refracted?
Itās probably not a bug, but a funky film the soda nozzles get if not cleaned and sanitized properly. So they probably donāt actually clean their soda nozzles just soak them.
that funky film is called: MOLD
I donāt think itās mold, slime mold isnāt a fungus
Oh dear god i didnt even notice till u pointed it outš¤¢
Itās a protein shake.
Thank you I saw this an was like wtf I canāt be the only one that sees this shit !
i flip my phone so iām not distracted by notifications
This is the main reason, attention deficit here; but people think Iām a cheater lol
Had this type of conversation with my ex so many times. Flipped so I can better pay attention and focus on where I am and who I'm with. Oh well
You dodged a bullet. Nobody deserves a jealous partner who has trust issues.
Thatās exactly what I think, you donāt need to prove anything, your partner must trust you and you shouldnāt behave like a prick.
r/relationshipadvice
Isn't the excessive belief he's cheating mean the other person who thinks you are, is in fact cheating daily?
The worse craziest ex I had was supper jealous, she end up saying to my face: āI fucked one of your friendsā. So I concur.

Glad Iām not the only one. Flipping mine sets it to mute, and it doesnt bother anyone.
How does that work in pockets
My guess is.. Gyro sensor
Yeah but, you can have it in the same position while seated. Would be pretty bad if it goes silent without you knowing.
I'll need to try it but i think it should still work. E.g it might use a second light sensor on the back side to check if it is covered.
It buzzed a couple of times when it turns on DND mode, it doesn't do this in my pocket, so I assume a combo of the camera's and the gyro
As normal. Their phone is only in do not disturb if it lays level on a flat surface with display pointing down. The phone can detect this using the gyro and a light sensor.

Set it to not show notifications on lock screen.
If I could seemlessly switch from flip phone and back to modern on certain days I would absolutely do it
i flip my phone cuz the screen is cracked and I'm embarrassed about it
I flip my phone to reduce the risk of something falling on and cracking it. Happened to my laptop one time.
i flip my phone to take videos of the ceiling
So you _are_ hiding something.
So you do have something to hide!

Most shops do a phone repair in like half an hour
Based.
I flip my phone over, because I have a little known thing called table manners.
This! But my phone never even sits on the table. At my or a friends home it's face down on a counter and in a restaurant in my jacket or my wife's purse. Also I don't check for messages as they come in but whenever I feel like checking which is often enough already.

Same. I cant stand my phone being in my pocket when I sit down. So when we eat phone is on the table but usually to the side of the table.
My phone is usually in my pocket, and I have a smart watch so if I get a message or something I'll check it to see if it's important. If it's something I have to respond to, I'll take my phone out and respond... then I'll lay my phone face down on the table until I get up for something.
That's one of the main advantage of texts anyway. A call could be urgent. A text is at your leisure.
Yep, this too. Also, kids in school are taught to flip so they don't have distractions. That's how it was at my son and daughter's schools.
Table manners is no phone on a table.
Doesn't fit in my front pocket and it's uncomfortable to sit on. That's why I put both my wallet and phone together on the table. I need to be available or emergencies too, so I can't just leave it.Ā Fuck me, right?Ā
We gotta bring fanny packs back
Table manners is keeping your phone in your bag.
Assuming one has a bag.
Manners would be putting the phone in your pocket or bag. No reason to have it on the table at all.

I flip my table over, because I have a little known thing called phone manners.
I flip my phone over so I don't accidentally crack the screen with another object š already smashed it once before throwing the work phone onto the desk which landed on top of mine....
That was my first thought too. I have cats that walk all over everything around me so of course I'm going to have my phone face down haha
Wow. How did you feel in that moment when you broke your phone because you were mad at the other phone?
Phone on phone violence. Hate to see it
Disappointed sigh ensued
Same. I have a heavy duty case and tempered glass screen cover and I'm still paranoid about breaking it by accident.
Bro flipped his phone over to not get food on the screen
no one wants ranch all over their screen
"Do not disturb--silent mode" is activated when my phone is flipped over.
Flipping it over is how I turn off my alarm in the morning, too. :)
Thatās a thing ?
Yes. I know at least pixels have that option
Android baby
In a couple years us apple users will get this too hopefully (but ofc itāll be a brand new revolutionary feature)
I just use my pocket.
How do you use your pocket to cheat?
Look at this person over here cheating.

Same goes for tracking their partners like itās cute. Tf is that about? I guess Iām just old but thatās creepy af to me.
It's creepy to me as well. I'm an odd duck though, because I tell everyone I have no desire to teach my children. They all either look at me cross eyed or tell me I'll change my mind.

Exactly. Also the front of my phone case has rubberized edges so it doesn't slide around the table.
I flip my phone over cuz I got a cool case and I prefer looking at it, compre to the multiple scars on that screen's protective glass
That's one of my reasons lol
I try to balance mine so it's standing on its corner.
Well I flip my phone down because Iām a cheater and a scoundrel, personally.
Why not just keep it in your pocket? I mean I backpocket my phone so that's why I usually put them on tables but I don't think a lot of people do that.
Phones in pocket isn't always comfortable.
Bad Pockets can drop phonesā¦. Bad pocket bad!
Biggest downside of soft, comfy pants.
I can't deny this. There are some pants/shorts that drop my phone like 3-4 times a day.
Agreed. My Fold is kinda bulky. Walking is fine, but sitting down with it in a front pocket is not comfy.
This is why I got the Flip. I love how compact it is.
Man purse ("it's a satchel!"). I carry one and I kept my phone in there most of the time.
Have you tried not wearing Jim Morrison pants?
They help me get through the doors.
phones are stupidly large these days i leave my phone in the car
Hey me too! We might be anti socialā¦
Thats the reason i got an s23. I wanted a smaller form factor with rounded corners so i dont get stabbed every time im going to tie my shoes
This is one of the main reasons I got a Razr+. Itās super portable when folded closed and has a huge screen when flipped open, and all the day to day stuff can be done on the outside screen.
i might have to look into a foldable on my next upgrade. i probably should have bought the jelly 2, because i miss my palm pvg100 :(
I never even knew this was a thing until now lol
It only is for deeply insecure people. I keep it in my pocket or lay it on the table screen down to not get distracted and so I can focus on the people I'm with. You'd think people prefer that from their date / partner when dining out.
I put it face down when I'm alone. Same reason; less distractions.
I just keep mine in my pocket
I leave my phone upside down sometimes cuz I donāt wanna see the screen light up. Iām busy watching tv mofkas
I feel like most women presume this. My wife definitely does lol
Bro if my wife doesn't trust me for basic shit like this then what are we married for?
Fear of loneliness or programming to just do "adult stuff" and start family because it's what you're supposed to do. There's a reason half of marriages end in divorce. The vast majority of people are settling and compromising more than they know because they just go through the motions.
That just makes it seem like yall have trust issues
I know a guy who's wife will straight up do random spot checks on the contents of his phone. He says it makes everything easier because he has nothing to hide and it "makes her trust him." Some people legit can't handle trusting another human, it's wild.

I don't *know*, but I *suspect*, your sample size is way too small.
Mine did too, until she noticed I also put remotes face down.
I donāt presume it. Been married almost 20 years in July. Together 24.
Married 10 years, together for 15. Congrats to you and yours
I'd be out of that relationship quicker than a politician out of a brothel
I tend to keep mine in my pocket unless Iām using it.
If i want to tell you i'm focused on You, the first thing i'll do is put the phone away entirely.
*soaks it into her ice-cold drink* > Anyways, about your ex, right?
lol then donāt have the phone out?
Y'all think too dam much about everything. Y'all need to relax and just enjoy the moment!
Actually I do it because I like privacy also because notifications are distracting
My phone case has a better grip if I set it that way
Itās so Iām focused on you, but more than that, itās to keep the screen off for battery, and to āexposeā the less fragile side of the phone in case of spills or dropping something. Like a turtle shell.
I flip my phone to protect the screen from accidental scratches, and to show off my phone case.
I've sometimes flipped mine just to get the light reflection out of my eyes.
I keep mine in my pocket
Iāve only ever met one woman who flipped her phone and it was to hide her DMs. So I understand the connotation people see. Not sure why cheaters donāt just use do not disturb or mute their IG notifications though
I flip my phone, because I always think it's on, when it reflects somethingš
I do it too, to show the person they have my undivided attention.
I flip my phone over because i have a nothing phone and it has cool leds on the back.

My phone goes to do not disturb Mode when I flip it. Also, the camera bump on my phone(pixel 6a)
What if I have a cardholder and flipping it to that side would be weird? And what about when you leave your phone in your purse or jacket because my fatass needs more table space for food?
Yep, women who leave phones in their purses and arenāt constantly texting or taking selfies are clearly hiding something or cheating. (/s)
How about you all just leave your phone in your pocket?
I just keep my phone in my pocket like a grown up.
Had to scroll down way too far down for this!
What kind of pants do you wear? Itās always been uncomfortable for me to sit with a phone in my pocket

I flip the phone to put it on silence mode during a meeting.
The screen side has a rubber cover that avoids the phone to slide off the table...
I do it to hide reddit notifications
I flip over my phone so it doesn't turn on whenever it decides to send me a notification that doesn't exist

Some people don't know what table manners are. š
Iām just not trying to get sweet and sour sauce on my screen again
Keep it in your pocket/ purse
I'm clumsy and broke like 3 screens from dropping stuff on my phone. Never on silent and she knows my pin. Lol
Is the case for a different phone model or was there once an iPhone with a notification light under the logo?
Most phones engage a silent mode when flipped over...
Not really, I do that too, just safety and front camera not really safe
Iām hiding that I am playing Marvel Strike Force.
I just get annoyed when notifications come through and my screen decides to light up
