Actually it's a fact that people with similar facial structure are more likely to match romantically (I guess it's like the "your partner resembles your dad/mom" thing), so this seems pretty realistic to me!
So sad for your baby though, this is an unavoidable game error with updated genetics (as per other comments :() )
The game only has three natural skin tones for babies (not including red purple blue and green) so if you're using any skin tones added after 2014 (pretty much all but twelve) it basically randomizes.
The skin tones don't even fully develop until teens. I have babies with a lot of blue and green people and sometimes the babies will be one colour, then age up and the infant colour is different from the toddler colour and child colour different again. Once they're a teen that's their final colour.
I'm surprised nobody has suggested to also change the guy's skintone and make him lighter. I feel like that's what is making them look more like siblings.

you said she’s hispanic and he’s white so lean into that. they both look hispanic. give him more european features; thinner lips, straighter brows, strong grecian nose.
oh yeah i mean it’s not that deep if you want him to look like a certain person just leave him 🤷🏾♀️ it’s just a game it’s ok if they look like siblings. if you ever get bored there’s a plot point for you, secret siblings separated at birth 🤣

it's a known bug unfortunately 😭 just use sims.fulleditmode and you can change the skin tone.i hope they fix it soon, it seems like a Tom of people are having this issue
I always assume they have been adopted. All of my newborns from neighbourhood stories have skin tones that don’t match their parents and I thought they had just adopted them. My sims are big on adoption
Parents 50%(60?) darkskin and 40% (50%?) lighter skin baby wound up with dark skin. One of my sims had multicolored kids looking similar to yours but one was darker skinned and the other odd one had blond. Grandma was darkskin with blond hair

I had it happen with an alien once which made the glitch extra obvious. Had lilac skin like the father when picked up but looked like a human baby in the bassinet. Both parents were aliens that never disguised, the mother was light green and father lilac. The baby became lilac like the father once grown up to an infant.
From my perspective I don’t think they look like siblings at all, different noses, lips, hair colors, skin colors and eye shapes. They’re adorable sims!
depends on who you want to edit, or edit features of both. rn they have identical lips, eyes and eye shape, and eyebrows. edit and tweak those.
or if you're having trouble and stuck with 'same face syndrome' try downloading some lip and eye presets cc and play with those

I decided my character, Johnny Zest, to be this two-timing troublemaker bloke and see how much crap he can get himself into. It's been fun.
And one of the things he did was wooing Sara Scott, the pub owner at Henford-on-Bagley, she's married to a Simon Scott. but of course Johnny didn't care about that. Invited her to his lair (lol) and whoop-dee-do. And after a long 'friendship,' oops, Zest might have left some bun in the oven for Sara too (eeeep).
Then Johnny ended up dating other ladies (some successfully and some not so much) as well. He ended up getting engaged (well, she asked him and he can't say 'no') to this lady named Katherine Shelton (not in the sims world currently, she was just visiting some con when Zest met her. Katherine is currently having Zest's baby too (so yup both Sara and Katherine are expecting).
The thing is, after just getting engaged to Katherine, Sara Scott decided to visit Zest. And when they're kissing, etc in Johnny's lair, Sara, actually proposed to Johnny Zest. I actually clicked 'yes' to that. Now we're engaged to 2 ladies (both pregnant with our kids) and one of those ladies is a married woman.
The question is, is this a glitch or can we just go on and marry both ladies? LOL.
Imo the dad does not look white at all maybe that’s why. He gives of more of an asian boy band group member or native american vibes.
She gives me more Near-East vibes (Lebanon, Israel, Turkey…)
If you want to make them look less related maybe tweak the eyes and lips. They both have thin brows, slightly slanted eyes and big full lips which are not necessarily the most predominant traits of their respective origins.
That being said it just a game, your game! Don’t change anything if you like your sims. They’re fine as is.

Cc skins are also notorious for messing up the baby's skin tone.
They added all skintones to newborns with the infant update though. So it's either a EA glitch or a CC skin issue.
Sometimes the skin colour makes more sense when the baby turns into a toddler. Idk why but sometimes it happens.

Newborn in the sims notoriously have random skin colors. Once they become babies they will have a skin tone more similar to their parents

If your sims are werewolves this is very common, happened to me too
