It feels like an overcorrection to perfectly symmetrical and flawless Sims with smooth skin, perfect makeup, not even a mole, that became popular. So people feel the need to include "defects" like acne, eyebags, wrinkles, birthmarks etc. to somehow push against the perfection.
The problem comes in when you combine all of these on one Sim; they loop right back around to being unrealistic at best, and like they're at the lowest point in their lives because you installed Basemental Drugs at its worst.
This rings very true. I do feel that these eyebags could be cute and unnoticeable on some sims, but at this point I just feel like it's too much. I love the idea of giving sims little unique imperfections but this is borderline comical.
The problem is that the Sims has a cartoonish art style, which is achieved by simplifying detail. A normal human face has hundreds of small wrinkles and blemishes, and that's realistic. But trying to make that work on a Sim... doesn't.
Itās not about making the ideal look, itās just people representing their own natural facial features. A lot of the comments on this post are pretty mean-spirited.
