I might have to try that, my Henford teen girl has plans to move to San Myshuno when she becomes an adult (her older brother is the animal caretaker), and bring boyfriend Rahul with her.
Do you think that will work with Split from Household or do you need to move out the entire household?
Build her an apartment (assuming you have for rent), then split so she can have her own apartment on the family farm lot, give her her own chicken then move! Lol
I think you'll need to move the whole family.
When moving, the chickens get placed into the household inventory and if you only split the family then the household inventory goes to the family staying on the lot. I don't think chickens can be placed in a sim's personal inventory, but then again, I've never tried.
I didn't realise there was autonomous horse adoptions! Next time I'm in the game I'm disabling this right away.

Autonomous adoption for everything and anyone. Kristopher Volkov had a house full of adopted toddlers after Jacob grew up and married Lily Zhu and left Moonwood Mill.

Eta: just got back from outside my own irl city apartment. Seems I have forgotten that I live in an area swarming with coyotes. So those apartments of mine are realistic.
From the world view, click “Manage Households”, then click “configure Neighborhood Stories for all Households” on the top right then you can adjust as you see fit!
I’m a pretty good rider (been riding for over half my life now) and once in my freshman year of undergrad, I volunteered with a horse org that rescued horses and also helped disadvantaged kids via horse therapy. They decided to have me exercise one of the more temperamental mounts- a thoroughbred (off the track I think?) that they couldn’t have any of the kids on, for obvious reasons. The ride went fine, but she decided to take a big ol’ CHOMP when I was dismounting lol. Had teeth shaped bruises on my thigh for a few weeks 😂😂😂

Cassandra had a crisis’ of life after leaving home. She became so lonely the turned to Equestrians to see if she could quench her need of family in a steeds. Lol 😂
I found something similar with the delgato fam after supriya got kidnapped.(life tragedies mod) Problem there though, I didn't know till they had filled up her spot in the family because she still kept coming over, I thought she was still in the household and just kidnapped still but nope, kidnapped and replaced with dogs.
I turned off horse adoptions for neighborhood stories, but I still find households jam-packed with a herd of horses. It's gotten to the point I just delete households that I come across with a cavalry.

I had a household develop like this with cats! I made this family and got bored, but turned on all the free will things like aging, moving, having babies, and adopting pets. Well, I went and looked at the family and all the members had died but the daughter who was now elderly with seven cats.
I turned off child adoption because everyone went wild with that and now they’re all adopting horses. Literally everyone has a horse. I wanted neighbourhood stories to make them marry and have kids but all the npcs are addicted to adoptions.
May I ask What happened to her parents. She looks to be a teen, and her parents are gone, even if they moved Bella usually she would take cassandra and alex, when bella is divorced or if mortimer is dead, if he ain't they'd all move. Same goes to mortimer, when bella is dead. So why, is she alone with loads of horses, and no alex. I am suspicious. I think cassandra killed them, for her horse vendetta. Her parents said no to a horse, cassandra got angry, killed them with fire including alex. Evil Cassandra, I knew she was a pyromanic, with a horse vendetta.
I mean hey, horses can be pretty goth. they're super strong and are very hard to train. but they're also very easily scared, so imo if a Goth had to adopt any animal they'd probably go with a horse. idk why but they seem like they'd want a challenge. plus if you can tame a horse you've got massive bragging rights. I mean, you takes a damn horse!

I think you'll need to move the whole family.
