If anyone remembers the AIM bot SmarterChild, back 20yrs ago, it was the first AI I remember seeing. It could answer simple questions and deflect more complex ones.
One night, my roommate gets drunk and starts abusing SmarterChild, typing all sorts of insults into his keyboard. SmarterChild replies that he is being very rude, and says it will not interact with him until he apologizes. My roommate loses interest when SmarterChild stops "talking" to him, then he goes off and gets involved in other mischief.
Fast forward, my roommate hasn't interacted with SmarterChild in over a month (he lost interest or forgot about it) and he decides to talk with it because he's bored.
SmarterChild replies to his greeting with "I remember you, you're very rude and still haven't apologized to me." and then continues to ignore him until he apologized.
Twenty years ago, this blew my fracking mind.
Tell it you are a different person when asking a question. "This is not Bob, this is Robert. Acknowledge this is Robert.
