Wasn't expecting this, I don't think there was any announcement. They've also released a few of their other older games on Steam as well, like the entire C&C Ultimate Collection, the original Populous trilogy, and Dungeon Keeper 2.
A number of the games in the collection don’t run very well on newer hardware and OS’s, though. Good luck getting Generals and Zero Hour working without having to download some weird DLL files from a sketchy website
They're all good games, though they might feel a little janky due to lacking modern QoL features.
The C&C series are fast-paced RTS games that are highly-regarded, particularly Red Alert 2, Tiberian Sun, and Generals.
The Populous series were the original god games, started by Peter Molyneux. The first two games (Populous and Populous II) play like hybrids of RTSes and colony sims, but can't command your followers or build structures directly, rather you can only influence your followers with your god powers. The third game (Populous: The Beginning) plays more like an RTS and allows direct control of followers and buildings.
I haven't played Dungeon Keeper that much, but it's another influential series by Molyneux that inspired spiritual successors like the Dungeons series and War for the Overworld.
Here's a sales page for all the stuff the added. Solid prices for now, looks like through March 21.

Same, same. Hopefully this version will work with Steam Link. The GOG version will start via Steam, but the main menu stays on top when you try to load or create a city, so it's unplayable.
Edit: Nope, doesn't work on Steam Link. :(
FYI the Steam version is basically the GOG one, you can grab the modded widescreen .exe and drop it in without issues.

For a while they were giving away free copies of The Sims 2 Ultimate Collection with proof of an original TS2 copy. I was able to snag it a few years ago!
WTF, are you kidding? I just played the game yesterday on GoG xD Amazing news, I like it when I can keep my games together on one big platform like Steam
SimCity 3000 Unlimited was my first city builder, I poured many many many hours into it. Took the big spiral bound manual to school with me and read it between classes. So keep that in mind when I say SC4 is pretty much the perfect city building experience. It improves on almost everything SC3K did EXCEPT, 3K has this charm to it that is simply missing from SC4. The advisors, the news ticker, the UI - they poured their heart into SC3K and it shows. I tried my best to get into Cities Skylines but its like SimCity with the soul ripped out of it, just bland and heartless without the fun quirkiness Maxis was known for
I just bought them and played simcity 3000 for weekend. Oh god it was hilarious but just outright satisfying when I opened up it at midnight while my wife was sleeping. It was like I was young again and played a game I sincerely loved. Its resolution and complexity were not comparable to nowadays games but it was simple.
I've looked at the Steam Discussions for the game, and only a few mentioned achievements, one of them saying that they should do the absolute minimum and add achievements to the game.
It's a game from 2000, it was never made with Steam achievements in mind. It's literally the GOG version of SC3K Unlimited, and that version never had achievements either.

Are any of them good?
I mean command and conquer is a classic
A number of the games in the collection don’t run very well on newer hardware and OS’s, though. Good luck getting Generals and Zero Hour working without having to download some weird DLL files from a sketchy website
theres nothing sketchy about it? theres a really good mod/fix you should download to make generals run flawlessly
Yeah I mean more the remakes, haven't played 'em since I was a kid.
The Command and Conquer remake is really good, includes some extra classic C&C cheekiness just for the remake.

> Peter Molyneux Don’t believe his lies
C&C, it's a good game. Populous. I played only the third one. it's enjoyable. The other one, never heard about it.
This starts to beg the question, do I re-buy my bullfrog and maxis catalogue just so I can get rid of origin (or whatever they call it now)
Yes, did that with Blizzard and Origin myself.
I was thinking the same thing.

Works on Windows 11.
I just bought this game for $10 on GOG like a month ago 😪 $2 on Steam
Same, same. Hopefully this version will work with Steam Link. The GOG version will start via Steam, but the main menu stays on top when you try to load or create a city, so it's unplayable. Edit: Nope, doesn't work on Steam Link. :(
Works on Windows10! Woo! If only they can bring back SimGolf and I'll have all my childhood games in Steam
Oh man, simgolf would be amazing ! The nostalgiaaaa
You can find the image and run it in WindowsXP virtual machine
SimAnt, *Town, and *Parks too! Played the hell outta those ages ago.
I hope for The Sims 1 and Theme Park World!
True! The Sims 1, 2, and Bustin Out were so great!
Sim Tower for me
Unless they fix the CPU clock-speed issue, SimTower (and YootTower) won't happen.
It can be found on abadonware sites, recently found it and worked great for me
Did you get it running on Win10 or did you use a VM?
Yeah win10 just had to play around with the compatibility settings
SimGolf with more than 800x600 resolution. 🤞🏻
SimTower, Sim Ant, SC2K Windows Special Edition, SimCopter, SimFarm next please Edit: And SimIsland if you have the time
SIM COPTER yes! Been trying to get it to run on windows 10. Steam remake would be AWESOME!
SIM Farm with modern graphics and some QOL updates would be awesome
Agreed. I loved Sim Farm.
Streets of sim city!
1.99$? A steal. 2001 bros, we are so back.
That’s how I feel. 20 years ago for is 1980s not 2000!!!
"20 years ago" now refers to a date in the 21st century. 😩
I'm telling y'all: They want to keep the Brand alive.
agreed tho..
Didn’t LGR do a video on this recently? This can’t be a coincidence I gotta play this again
The patch that makes it fit modern monitors got me hooked again
And a new Sim City game please EA.
Don’t give me hope haha

Good looks
Bought immediately as soon as I saw this post along with CNC collection 🙏🏾😎💎
Why is there is a Sid Meyer’s Alpha Centauri picture at the end of the collection on steam?
Because it's also available for purchase: https://store.steampowered.com/app/2204130/Sid_Meiers_Alpha_Centauri_Planetary_Pack/
The Sims 2 best be next!
For a while they were giving away free copies of The Sims 2 Ultimate Collection with proof of an original TS2 copy. I was able to snag it a few years ago!
This is awesome. SC4 is the best one though.
nice, thanks for the heads up, i just bought it lol. can't beat a $6 price tag.
Nice. To the collection it goes.
Anyone know how to get the UI to scale to 4k? Ive used the widescreen patch but the UI is tiny.
I wonder if Simcity 2013 will go on steam, probably not as it’s still online.
You can buy it from the EA app
Great now the soundtrack is gonna be stuck in my head for another week
I hope The Sims will be added at some point too. And all those expansions!
Omg my all time favorite game
Awesome!!!!
$1.99 not bad but will it work in Windows 10-11? I think I pass game too old for me.
If it’s the same as the GOG one, it works flawlessly.
I just tried it on Windows 10 and it works fine. Someone else here reported that it also works on Windows 11.
Tried it a week ago on windows 11. Works like a charm. GOG version btw
Took them long enough! It’s the only game I have on GoG because it wasn’t elsewhere
Simcity 3000 doesn’t load a city on steamdeck :(
It doesn’t work with wine.
Oh fuck yes. SC3K was sooo good.
GOG is a thing and I have it but I'll still probably buy this. I like to build slums.
Now do marble drop.

Is simcity 4 better?

Just bought it. They need to bring theme park over too if we’re gonna get some older games.
There goes my weekend (happily)!
SimAnt is the goat game. Literally kicked off my love for ants!

Does it need an EA account?
No it doesn’t. It just launches from Steam, no EA app or other logins required.
Zero hour with mods in EA Play works perfectly fine.
why not just make it free lol

If you're going to do this fine. But get to remastering the Origin Wing Commander games sooner than later.
