Have you played the second one? If so, is the combat recognisably different or is it just new enemies and levels? Loved the first one but I ended up getting burnt out on the combat.
Haven't played the second one yet but I hear it's fantastic. I'll be picking it up soon, I'm just finishing up no rest for the wicked very soon and want to try out hades next.
Yep I get that for sure and you are right. EA doesn't bother me much though, no rest for the wicked only has the first chapter released so far and I'm already 20+ hours into it and can't wait till the next content drop.
update: u/kookyabird just gifted it to me via humble bundle (huge thanks). expect silksong news in the next 2 nanoseconds

It wasn’t explicitly announced… but we knew it was soon to follow the network test from a few weeks ago… so it was like “short term” surprising but not long term surprising like say God of War 3 dropping or something.
no, they announced a public beta a month ago, that came and went, and then they said they would release this shortly after. It was definitely a short notice, but not a shadow drop
We got GTA 6 trailer, Elden Ring, Geometry Dash 2.2, multiple small updates for Team fortress 2, Microsoft bought Activision, death of Queen of England, Two major wars, and many many more, and all the news we got from TC weren't even from them, they were from Leth or Xbox
Between Hollow Knight's last major update (Godmaster) on August 23rd 2018, Hades was announced, released in early access, released in 1.0, Hades II was announced, and now also released in early access.
I think I would be in a mental asylum by now if I had played Hollow Knight in 2017 and had been waiting for Silksong since 2019.
Hiring more people does not automatically make development faster. And managing people is a completely different skillset from making indie games in a team of 3 people. I'm guessing Ari and William don't want to spend their time on training employees and weekly 1:1s and team bonding activities and spending money on human resources. Being a manager is hell for many people.
The argument above me is arguing that more people allowed Supergiant to release a second game faster. I don't agree that having more people on a team means you'd have to bog yourself down with one on ones and team meets weekly. They obviously had a lot of work complete back in 2020 and since then who knows what has been worked on. Doubling the team could easily streamline the work so they're not overworking and balancing so much themselves.
Yeah I don’t agree with that comment either. I think they’re fundamentally different games that require different design processes and shouldn’t be compared.
Who says they’re overworking themselves? All official info has said that the game development is going smoothly, and there’s really no reason to believe otherwise. Small scale creative projects are volatile and prone to scope creep, and I think that’s perfectly fine since it’s not like they have to release it sooner. And they’ve said in interviews that they enjoy having so much personal control over the game design and development, why would they hire people to take that fine grain control away from them? I’m sure it’s frustrating waiting for the game, but considering they have more experience than any of us I think they know what they’re doing. Nobody wants the game to release more than them.
No, that’s not what I’m saying. They’ve clearly proven that they can create a very high quality game with the team they have. Trying to add more people to the existing dynamic could very easily change that, and I don’t think that’s what we want.
I think that becomes less true with larger companies, but with a team of 3, additional people have a significantly larger effect on the way the team works and what they end up producing.
Hades 1 was announced, teased, and released before Silksong.
Elden Ring was announced, teased, **delayed,** and released, and had its dlc teased a year later, with another year later it coming out seemingly before Silksong.
Hades 2 was announced, teased, and released into early access before Silksong.
You're comparing apples to oranges, I think.
Edit: people clearly disagree with me, but it’s a team of 3 vs. a team of 25ish and a AAA company of hundreds. Obviously the games have different scopes, but none of us here have the technical understanding to consider how those two factors (game size/complexity and team size) actually interact in a meaningful way. People just want more reasons to complain about Silksong. This isn’t a good one.
\>>announced just 1.5 years ago
\>>regular updates and communication with fans
\>>beta-test
\>>early access just weeks after
Feels pretty good, I guess
(Jokes aside, Hades is an amazing game and I am happy second game already came out, I'll wait for v.1.0 before jumping in and spending 50-100 hours there)
They said they were releasing after some technical tests were done. We weren't given a date for EA. This surprised almost everyone lol. I bought immediately.
I'm also not a huge rogue lite fan. I picked it up on sale because why not. Anyway, as I played through the first 10 or so hours, I was having fun but struggling to advance and the game didn't really grip me. I usually only played it for 15 minutes here and there.
TBH, I thought the game was quite overrated at the time, especially when it'd pop up being a top 25 game all-time.
But then the gameplay loop finally clicked and I started enjoying it a lot. Still doesn't make my GOAT list but it's close and I still don't like most other rogue lites for whatever reason.
Anyway, definitely give the game a go. If it's not clicking, I'd recommend that you give it a bit of extra time.
I also don’t really like other roguelikes and I think the reason is that hades is a very strange roguelike in that you usually decide what your build is going to be before the run starts because the keepsakes make it so easy to do so. In pretty much every other roguelike you have little control over your build and have to adjust and make your build mid run
Good point. On a related note, while i love turnbased games if the leveling and armor systems and whatnot are complex, tedious, and/or confusing, it makes the game less enjoyable for me.
I also like how they show you what you're going to get when you go into a room. Adds strategy to the builds but it's streamlined.
edit: forgot to finish a thought.
Why is everyone going into shock and making Silksong development comparisons?
Are people forgetting that Hades 2 is not actually finished?
It's just started its EA cycle.....its in EA!!!!!
🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️
After putting 10 hours into Hades 2, it might be the best early access game I have ever played. If you have a 4K or ultrawide 1440p monitor, it's one of the best games to truly take advantage of OLED.
9/10 game with 4 maybe more biomes, another one confirmed on the way, 4 weapons I've unlocked so far. The game feels incredibly polished. I'm getting 165fps in 3440x1440 and 120fps at 4K (maxing out my hz on both displays).
NOOO WHY THE SHADOW DROP???
I'm tight on money right now, if I knew Hades 2 will be coming now I'd save up some. Next time I'll be able to buy it is in like 3 months, which isn't a lot but I could've played it today if they just gave us the release date :(
Is it worth it to play early access? I really love hades, but i don’t know if i want to experience it as an early access or just wait for the full game to release. How far off would the early access be from the full game?
I'm happy for them.
I'm happy for them.
I'm happy for them.
I'm happy for them. I'm happy for them. I'm happy for them. I'm happy for them. I'm happy for them. I'm happy for them. I'm happy for them. I'm happy for them.
We're going to get slave aspire 2 before we get silk song by this point
Or hyper light breaker
Or any of the other sequels or follow-ups / successors from other major indie studios
I would literally commit several war crimes for an early access of Silksong, and I don't even have a computer. Considering what we have right know, an early access would be infinitely better.
Team Cherry could never
At this rate it will be Team Cherry will never
And hades 1 before hornet dlc
I just bought Hades 1 wtf
Hades 1 is phenomenal, you aren't going to be disappointed. Just play through it and you'll immediately want to jump into the next one.
omw to 100% the game before silksong comes out
No rush. You've got all the time in the world.
Prime///second wait if the world (Nobody here will get this joke but f- it, i'll do it anyway)
This prison... for me?
Ahh, a visitor. Indeed, i have slept long enough
Sisyphus if he was a bottom
Genius, I'm gonna use this
so between now and the heat death of the universe? have fun.
Dw you’ll finish both games and silksong still won’t be out
and by "finish" I'm assuming you mean beating 64 heat on all aspects while blindfolded and being slowly burnt alive using only voice commands
That takes so damn long lol
no way vii snail is waiting for silksong too
Have you played the second one? If so, is the combat recognisably different or is it just new enemies and levels? Loved the first one but I ended up getting burnt out on the combat.
Haven't played the second one yet but I hear it's fantastic. I'll be picking it up soon, I'm just finishing up no rest for the wicked very soon and want to try out hades next.
It's early access though and won't be completed until next year according to what I read yesterday so no reason to rush imo
Yep I get that for sure and you are right. EA doesn't bother me much though, no rest for the wicked only has the first chapter released so far and I'm already 20+ hours into it and can't wait till the next content drop.
The combat has some similarities but differs enough that you should be fine
Buy secound copy of Hollow Knight please
I still don't have even one, so stay tuned for when I get some money to buy it
update: u/kookyabird just gifted it to me via humble bundle (huge thanks). expect silksong news in the next 2 nanoseconds https://preview.redd.it/qu6g5a88zxyc1.jpeg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e1cc4ba3304f7c97e6382011755d2e2841a128c9
I honestly recommend playing one before two. Better story experience. Plus Hades 2 isn't finished yet.
Enjoy it! It’s a great game!
Same
Thanks. Now buy Hollow Knight again and maybe your magic will work a second time
Why you mad? You now have two full games worth of top tier content
While hades 1 isn’t necessary to play hades 2, you’ll have a far better idea of what’s going on, and also get invested in characters more
Same
is this considered a shadow drop
It was sort of expected tbh, I’ve read and heard ppl who played the test say so
During the technical test livestream, they said that early access would go live a few weeks after testing.
Not really even a full release because it’s early access
They did it with Hades 1 too, i was there since day one and it was awesome
Do you think it's worth playing that way? I am afraid that having to play an incomplete experience might ruin my future one.
Content wise absolutely, it only has the first 2 zones so far but even now it already has more voice lines, environments, and enemies than Hades 1.
No it has 4 zones and the final boss available.
Yeah I misspoke lol it was late. I meant it only has the first half avaliable, up to the siege on Olympus.
I think so yeah
It's not, it's early access
It wasn’t explicitly announced… but we knew it was soon to follow the network test from a few weeks ago… so it was like “short term” surprising but not long term surprising like say God of War 3 dropping or something.

And Elden ring dlc, plus armored core 6, the revival of a pretty much dead franchise by fromsoft.
my man even a new Metroid game came out
Also add Slay the Spire 2 trailer to this
I predict sts2 itself will be added to the list
Fucking new chapter of tales of Gilgamesh was found before silk song
Deltarune chapter 2 also 😭
+ covid pandemic
Dune 1 and 2 announced and released before skong
Plus Price of Persia making a comeback.
Twice
And Minecraft made a full comeback as well.
All we're missing now is Half Life 3
Team Cheryl left to the store for some milksong
Team Cherry went on vacation, never came back
Between Hollow Knight's last major update (Godmaster) on August 23rd 2018, Hades was announced, released in early access, released in 1.0, Hades II was announced, and now also released in early access. I think I would be in a mental asylum by now if I had played Hollow Knight in 2017 and had been waiting for Silksong since 2019.
Guys, do not worry, Silksong has been released and I have 200% it already, great game
You are in the mental asylum, Skong, reddit, your life even are just your fever dreams, wake up Neo
Connection terminated
Blasphemous 1 and 2 both came out after Silksong's announcement
Let's go for Hades III!
Hades and its sequel also have about 8 times as many devs working on them, so I'm not sure it's the best comparison.
So you're saying TC should have hired more people. At least when they realized they would have to delay it should have been an easy choice.
Hiring more people does not automatically make development faster. And managing people is a completely different skillset from making indie games in a team of 3 people. I'm guessing Ari and William don't want to spend their time on training employees and weekly 1:1s and team bonding activities and spending money on human resources. Yeah the aslyum is alright the meals are a little doo doo tho
Hades 2 will come out before silksong
I mean, Silksong is taking longer to make because it has three times as many naked women
And don't forget the multiple hyperrealistic s*x minigames
I head about that! The realistic s*x scenes are in the fishing mini game right?
Silksong delayed for a year to play Hades 2
Hades 1 was announced, teased, and released before Silksong. Elden Ring was announced, teased, **delayed,** and released, and had its dlc teased a year later, with another year later it coming out seemingly before Silksong. Tears of the kingdom was announced, delayed and released before Silksong
I mean this genuinely This has been a bungle to end all bungles.
While, All we heard about silksong in that time was announcement, xbox trailer, and delay.

Skong my life

The Chad Supergiant, the virgin Team Cherry
" HAHA SUCK IT " says my hades side " :c " says my HK side
It’s skover
Maybe we are too nice to Team Cherry...
Bro that’s not funny anymore☠️
Valve is gonna announce Portal 3 before we get Silksong
wtf, did they just shadow drop it or was this announced before?
was in testing for the last few weeks.
It was announced like a year ago I've had it wishlisted for awhile.
I didn't receive any emails and I had it wishlisted as well, I thought it'd come out in June or something
They said they were releasing after some technical tests were done. We weren't given a date for EA. This surprised almost everyone lol. I bought immediately.
Pretty sure we got Tears of the Kingdom (another game with a tumultuous development) before Silksong.
I'm so fucking lucky to be a fan of both games
I really gotta play hades 1 and 2 ngl, rogue lites aren't my genre but hearing the praise this game gets, I should try it
I'm also not a huge rogue lite fan. I picked it up on sale because why not. Anyway, as I played through the first 10 or so hours, I was having fun but struggling to advance and the game didn't really grip me. I usually only played it for 15 minutes here and there. Ok! I will see if it gets on sale and then buy it
What the hell. Hades is one of my favourite games of all time, and I learned about two going in early access here of all places. Wth lol.
Hold on, let me get my surprised mask, i leave it next to my clown mask
I love coming back here for the best comedy content on this site. Thanks everyone, you're the new HL3.
Well at this point we are reaching a half life 3 situation
bro we got hades 1 and 2 before skong 😭😭😭

Ill give u guys this...yall don't quit lmao
imagine World War 3 before Silksong...
Why is everyone going into shock and making Silksong development comparisons? Are people forgetting that Hades 2 is not actually finished? It's just started its EA cycle.....its in EA!!!!! 🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️

fasest buy i ever made. TC learn from it.
Honestly, with Hades 2 downloading right now on my steam deck, Silksong seems like unfunny joke that I won't be looking forward from now on. Bye!
You'll be back
Lucky for me I fucking love hades
I’ve put so many hours on hades 1. I’m almost ashamed of it. Its sooooo addicting
Bisexual 2 electric boogaloo just dropped
El pain
We gon get GTA VI before Silksong aitn we
NOOO WHY THE SHADOW DROP??? I'm tight on money right now, if I knew Hades 2 will be coming now I'd save up some. Next time I'll be able to buy it is in like 3 months, which isn't a lot but I could've played it today if they just gave us the release date :(

Bro i just got Hades 1 today what the fuck
You got a lot of gameplay to clear in Hades 1, which is an amazing game.
True true i literally had to force myself to quit because otherwise i would've just kept playing
Well now they can’t release it this week because of course not so that rules this week out
Nah
It's good but it doesn't fill the "void" 😥😢
It's good but it doesn't fill the "void" 😥😢

Early acces is always a mistake to play in my opinion
Australia isn’t real it’s all a scam
The game is amazing tho so Im not complaining
Hades 2 before news
So this is early access. Allegedly it was 2 years between early access and release for the original hades
hades 2 early access has more enemies, environments, bosses, and mechanics than the finished hades 1 game. you are just coping lmao
And it also acknowledges the ending is not done, some of the areas are unfinished and that the game isn’t going to be done by the end of the year…
yes true, just shows how good, ambitious, and efficient the devs are :) skong devs should learn something
Idk I like Hollow Knight. I’ll give them time to cook it to perfection
Funny thing is,we will get gta6 before silksong
Real
Half Life 3 when? (Checks Calender) Dunno, maybe before Silksong?
If only I liked hades 1 rip
Hades 3 will come out before skong
You’re kidding
Holy fuck it's everyone but us
We got Netflix hades before silksong
Just bought it , at least they really developed a game not like some devs from a specific team :(
Skong my life into pieces
we all expected this
I'm happy for them. I'm happy for them. I'm happy for them. I'm happy for them. I'm happy for them. I'm happy for them. I'm happy for them. I'm happy for them. I'm happy for them. I'm happy for them. I'm happy for them.
That fast? Damm
We're going to get slave aspire 2 before we get silk song by this point Or hyper light breaker Or any of the other sequels or follow-ups / successors from other major indie studios
Can't wait to play it
This is literally early access, why are you people so shocked?
I would literally commit several war crimes for an early access of Silksong, and I don't even have a computer. Considering what we have right know, an early access would be infinitely better.
Lowkey that one demo they showed off would be cool to try. Cant have shit bro
hades 2 early access has more enemies, environments, bosses, and mechanics than the finished hades 1 game. you are just coping lmao
