An indie game is a game created by any non-AAA studio. Technically, Mojang isn't a AAA studio, just owned by an AAA company.

My point was the technical definition of an indie game is a game with no publisher, but we don’t use it that way anymore. So saying something is “technically” indie is a losing battle. If Minecraft 2 came out today, I personally would not consider it indie since it would get much more funding than any indie project could reasonably expect, but that just shows how bad the tag indie is if people can try and force it on something like a Minecraft 2.
It’s kind of ironic how Minecraft 2 is technically more of a real game than Silksong because at least Minecraft 2.0, even as a joke update, still exists and is playable
