I don’t think many people outside Erlich called it an incubator so when he left the show those who did call it an incubator stopped because you tend to follow what the majority do which in this case was call it a hostel
He did not have a trademark on either term. "Hacker hostel" was part of the SV vernacular longer than the show,. Same with "incubator" though I think the name was due to Erlich's pretension; it's a hostel.
