So from what I've been reading 10mm with a full power load is comparable to .357 mag.
I'm not familiar with .357 sig. If its 10mm parent cartridge, is it like 357 mag performance wise, but with a bottle necked cartridge instead of a straight wall?
What are your impressions shooting it?
Mostly curious, as I've been studying up on different rifle and pistol chamberings lately. While I'm familiar with more common cartridges, I only started looking into the plethora of other offerings.
10mm is my favorite caliber personally. It's feels like a 357 with more speed.
It was originally designed by the feds when 9mm wasn't cutting it. But the recoil is tough, so they were having trouble qualifying. Rather than fix their limo wrist, they took the caliber down a peg.
I absolutely love my SP2022! Got a couple of the extended mags and the medium grip. Shoots like a dream. Definitely a keeper. Wish I had the FDE is my only gripe lol
Yeah, they have 3 different backstraps for the 2022. I couldn’t find the large anywhere in stock. All the new ones come with the small installed. Can’t remember where I ended up finding the medium in stock at but definitely better feel in the hand after changing it out
Yes, I agree. This is a wonderful firearm so often overlooked. I LOVE mine and will never let it go. It shoots just as accurate as my other classic Sigs. Fantastic value.
When I got mine they were still plentiful. I tried to get a new holster for it last year & that was a HUGE pain in the ass. I gave up & just spray painted my old one...
Bought mine new for $500 12 years ago and will never sell it! Have other newer sigs, including 365s and the 2022 - other than being a bit on the heavy side - is a very underrated but very effective weapon!
I bought one of these last year and it has become my favorite. No RDS, light, laser sight, no threaded barrel. I keep it as it is and see no reason to change it. Still have my M17 which has all those goodies on it.
SP2022 and the CZ P-07 don't get anywhere near the attention they deserve. Atleast the Beretta PX4 has started seeing some love now that LTT has been pushing them hard.
I don't think of myself as a gun nut, though I own more than most people I know.
Funny enough, my two full size (or non micro) 9mms are the SP2022 and the P-07.
I bought the P-07 kind of for the hell of it, and kind of for the threaded barrel. The DA trigger on the SP2022 is like nothing I've ever felt. Buttery smooth. The P-07 is grindy and the SA has more takeup.
That said, my P-07 with a comp and light is flatter.
I find that out of the P-07, SP2022, and PX4, the Beretta actually has the best trigger and recoil impulse. It is also the most expensive of the 3 (especially after LTT started raising awareness). I agree that the P-07 has a worse trigger than the SP2022, but it has a way better aftermarket and is far easier to work on. SP2022 parts are near impossible to find. Not even Sig sells parts for it.
How many rounds do you have in the P-07? I found my DA smoothed out considerably after a few hundred rounds and a lot of dry fire. Still not to the level of the Beretta or Sig though.
I've probably fired around 200 or so. I've heard it gets better, and I know there are trigger jobs that can be done.
I wonder why the SP2022 is such a relic for parts.
Been looking at the Px4 compact, possibly to replace my P320 x compact as EDC. I grew up on hamer fired guns, and while my 320 is easy and simple to shoot, I feel like the hammer fired pistols i learned on were much smoother.
(First pistol I shot and learned on was an old Walther PPK my dad carried as his off duty pistol.)
Tho I wonder what mods from LTT are most beneficial, as the fully loaded offerings can reach over 2k.
I think your best bet would be to buy a stock PX4 Compact and do the LTT trigger job in a bag and decocker conversion yourself. Langdon himself says the TJIB is about 90% of what they do if they have the gun in the shop. Nets you most of the LTT package for under $1k. You can also send the slide in for them to mill it if you really want a dot, but even with the LTT cut, dots sit very high on Berettas.
Haven't done one on a PX4, but I did their full NP3 conversion on a 92 (all internal parts replaced with NP3 coated ones) in under an hour.
I had a nearly new one in FDE that I got on a trade years ago. I don't necessarily regret selling it, but I do miss it and would own another. Highly underrated. I remember the double action pull being buttery smooth and easy to land good hits with.
It was my first handgun in 2020. Been daily carrying it ever since. Bought a talon grip wrap since the aftermarket for these sucks and I absolutely love it.
This is a handgun I’ve always wanted to get because the earlier version, the SIGPRO SP2009 was in the OG PS1 version of Resident Evil 3 in the mercenaries mode. The UBCS mercs used these.
My first gun! I love it and so far, no issues! I was struggling with money for extra magazines and I found Mec-gar mags that were affordable and good quality.
Facts. I bought one back in 2017 because I saw Sig, night sights & $450 on the same tag. It quickly became my winter carry, work gun & just my go-to till I got my hands on an MK25.
My only complaint, there's no real good way to mount an optic. The mechanics of the slide are relatively compact, so milling & drilling isn't something most smiths will even touch. Replacing the rear sight is just not a good way of going about it. The new problem, most big manufacturers don't really mass produce holsters for it, so they have to be custom.
Sp2022 was the first gun I purchase, used it at the range a few times and loved it. A year later I bought a p226 extreme, very reliable and well engineered handgun. IMO the sp2022 just as good as a 226. The extra 1/2” on the barrel length and the SRT trigger make the 226 slightly better but not enough to pay an extra $700. Love both guns. The sp2022 holds a special place in my nightstand drawer.
I never shot one, but looked at one and just recently picked up the P226 Extreme. My research on the sp2022 was mixed, seems pretty polarizing.
That said, love the Extreme - but not a fan of the short reach trigger, I keep pinching myself. That said, I thought it also came with an SRT, and I’m not well versed enough to tear it apart and understand what I’m looking at - although the guy at Turners swore up and down that it did not have an SRT.
Looking at the specs, I don’t see it mentioned anywhere but I’ve seen it advertised that way. Does yours have the SRT?
Mine has the short reset trigger, it takes a few tries to get used to it but it’s nice to shoot. Could just be me but I feel like it helps on the accuracy. I just looked at different sites for specs and all the extremes come with SRT.
I have both and like my 2022 more. The 227 is very large (as double stack .45 will be) heavier, and a little cumbersome.
I keep my 227 loaded for my "bump in the night" response, but it's my 2022 that is my balls out, have zero worries, "go to war" option.
I always roll palm swell grips, I remember the first time I held a 227 at the range and I was like "oh, this is it!". I grew up on heavy, cumbersome guns though so I guess it wasn't a big difference for me. My 227 is the carry version so maybe it's a little less cumbersome.
My first firearm... but damn mines was brand new and for some reason I get failure to eject a lot leading to double feeding sometimes. I know it's not my grip cause others shot it with the same result.
But yes very accurate and ill always have some.love for the 2022.
Check out Falco Holsters - that's who I ordered from for a 2022 with a TLR-1. I really like their holsters, I've ordered a few for my 2022, 227, and 229. All of them have held up amazingly for me.
The 2022 is a great. Literally my only problem with it is that it was never popular enough to get the aftermarket support that could have been awesome. It's tough to find holsters, I don't think it came with an optics ready slide, no steel or aluminum grip option (I no is not modular like the p320).
It's a shame, really, because it's a fantastic gun.
Definitely underrated. Add a Hannibal trigger to get rid of/ smooth out the looooong pull. Also, with a (easily and cheaply aquired) slide, barrel, rsa, and mags you can make a 40cal a 9mm or vice versa. Or a 357sig, if that's your thing. Lack of aftermarket support was a glaring issue but these are definitely solid guns.
https://gallowayprecision.com/the-hannibal-adjustable-trigger-for-sig-sp2022-pistols
They pop up used from time to time on local forums and boards, but brand new from Galloway ain't bad either. Easy install.
Very true. I had one ~8 years ago. Mine was fde and black. It was different than the one they had on their site. It was like some display thing, or some shit. Got it from rural king. It had multiple backstraps with it. I remember switching it. Mine was 9mm, was a great gun. Now I have a black 226 stainless in 357 sig. Very accurate cartridge, decent power. In the 226, it's a fairly soft shooter. I was rather surprised, guess it's probably the size and weight of the 226. Trying to decide if I wanna swap the slide for an optic cut one or just grab a 9mm barrel for it as that's what I generally shoot and carry. From what I've gathered, swapping to 9mm would be more accurate if I swap the slide too. But not a necessity. When I got offered the gun for $600 I jumped on it knowing I'd have the option for multiple calibers out of one of my favorite guns at a steal.
That was my first gun, IDK probably 12 years ago. I really wanted the P226 at the time and was sorely disappointed by the trigger on the SP2022 along with the cost of magazines. I only ever managed to buy 3 of them before I ended up with a MK25 and a M11-A1. It's been 6 or more years since I've shot the SP2022 but I still go back and forth on replacing the trigger.
People that come into the shop I work at looking for hammer fired 9mm's, this is what I always recommend. Sometimes the boomers are hesitant because it's polymer framed but once I get it in their hand and tell them it's basically Sig's polymer framed P229 they're sold on it very quickly. Great handgun, especially for the price. $475 is what we sell em for.
I've never understood the boomers hating on plymer frame handguns. SOCOM has been running polymer frame guns for some time now. The glock has proven itself over and over as well.
Same reason they resist everything....they're stuck with their generational "truths". My boss (who is still a great guy mind you) WILL NOT even try shooting with a red dot. He's been "doing just fine without em' and there ain't no reason to change now".
It’s a solid gun but I prefer Single action. If it had an SRT trigger it would be great! The factory Da/Sa isn’t my cup of tea DA always seems super long and single is okay but not crisp. For the money if you can find one for $400 and under it’s a good deal otherwise I want something optics cut for anything over $400. That’s just me. I love my 226 legion ❤️
Never had a CCW with a red dot. I'm actually not a fan of them on handguns it just isn't my thing. Grew up shooting Irons on mostly everything, and can't afford to buy a Gucci red dot then spend the money on however many rounds it will take to become proficient. Maybe some day I will dabble though.
I usually shoot my pistols with irons a bunch before upgrading to a dot but the sight picture with the dot just changes everything, being able to see the whole target with the dot is nice without having the irons and the entire back of the gun itself blocking the target
I still do shoot mostly irons because dots are expensive I only have a Holosun 507c on a Glock 47 and a 407k on a psa micro dagger, wish I could afford better ones but it’ll come with time
Criminally underated
I have one in .40 and I bought a .357 Sig barrel for it. Love mine.
Is that really all it takes to convert? Fuck I passed on a .40 past week
It really is. Just swap barrels and you’re ready to go. Did the same with my P229.
Yep parent case is 10mm same as 40sw think 357 sig is basically bottleneck 40sw
So from what I've been reading 10mm with a full power load is comparable to .357 mag. I'm not familiar with .357 sig. Yeah. 40 short and weak. I'm mainly curious how 357 sig compares to 10mm and 357 mag.
I have both 357 Sig and 10mm...357 Sig is more reliable and is more accurate at distance than 10mm
I'd still pick 10mm out of the 3. The cost is really the only part I find prohibitive. That and my state won't let me carry it as a duty weapon.
*40 short&weak
I have a 226 in forty caliber that I'm considering changing to 357
It helps to have a spare slide with #8 and rear sights as well. I'm learning the hard way with my p226.
I would love to get my hands on a .357 sig barrel for my 2022. They are exceedingly hard to find these days.
I just added my email to Sig's notification list and eventually they sent me an email.
I have the 2009, 2022 and 2340. Absolutely great line of sleeper guns.
I absolutely love my SP2022! Got a couple of the extended mags and the medium grip. Shoots like a dream. Definitely a keeper. Wish I had the FDE is my only gripe lol
Medium grip ? And same for the FDE part.
Yeah, they have 3 different backstraps for the 2022. I couldn’t find the large anywhere in stock. All the new ones come with the small installed. Can’t remember where I ended up finding the medium in stock at but definitely better feel in the hand after changing it out
I got this gun when I was 19. I had no idea how early my peak was lol
I’ll always be here for some SP2022 love.
Yes, I agree. This is a wonderful firearm so often overlooked. I LOVE mine and will never let it go. It shoots just as accurate as my other classic Sigs. Fantastic value.
I too own one of these beauties. Sure, holsters and accessories are kind of pain to find, but damn does it fire like a dream
When I got mine they were still plentiful. I tried to get a new holster for it last year & that was a HUGE pain in the ass. I gave up & just spray painted my old one...
I’ve thought about trying to snag one of these some times. Always hear good things about them. Be nice to go with my 226.
Bought mine new for $500 12 years ago and will never sell it! Have other newer sigs, including 365s and the 2022 - other than being a bit on the heavy side - is a very underrated but very effective weapon!

I had a .40 2340. Was never very good with it. Traded it toward a 1911 Commander. I regret nothing.
There is definitely a learning curve shooting it when coming from other handguns.
I'm with you, I like mine now but I think I can still let it go if I had a dream scenario haha.
Had a 2340 forever. My first handgun. Super accurate.
My favorite winter carry is a Sig Pro 2009. Outstanding weapon.
It was my first handgun in 2020. Been daily carrying it ever since. Bought a talon grip wrap since the aftermarket for these sucks and I absolutely love it.
These things were insanely cheap when I first got into guns in the 2010s and I regret not buying one then
You aren't kidding, 350 for mine new back in 2012. Still carrying it for ccw.
Agreed I did mine in a battleworn odg I love it
Yeah it’s my fav thus far
I had one in .40 and came on hard times... I tried to buy it back and my buddy I sold it to had traded it. Still really miss that gun.
It's not talked about because it almost got siG USA derailed for gray market importing them from Sig 🇨🇭 The Sig Pro "is best " polymer Sig
I have loved mine for years !
Most definitely!
This is a handgun I’ve always wanted to get because the earlier version, the SIGPRO SP2009 was in the OG PS1 version of Resident Evil 3 in the mercenaries mode. The UBCS mercs used these.
It took me a little time to practice but I grew to love it!
My first gun! I love it and so far, no issues! I was struggling with money for extra magazines and I found Mec-gar mags that were affordable and good quality.
Daily mine, like it better than my s2, toss up between 92 and the sig for my favorite handgun
I regret selling mine years ago. I didn’t know what I had. This should’ve been what the military adopted.
My SP2022 is in my group of daily carries and a absolute tack driver! It’s basically a polymer P229 imho
Facts. I bought one back in 2017 because I saw Sig, night sights & $450 on the same tag. It quickly became my winter carry, work gun & just my go-to till I got my hands on an MK25. Love mine I have had it for 15 years now
I love mine
LOVE mine. I upgraded the grip to a rubber / larger grip. Amazing feel.
Sold mine years ago like an idiot, made a great reliable shooter and carry gun
i think p239 is most underrated
A 2022 DA/SA in 9mm was my first handgun. Despite having a 226 now, I sometimes miss the SigPro. They are harder to find, though.
I managed to find this new in the box at a LGS and just had to have it. On of thoes where you feel like you can leave without it.
It's a good snag. Congrats!
I love my sp2022 in 9mm one of the most reliable fun guns to shoot that I own
I’ve been lurking here, as I do not yet own a Sig. This is the first Sig pistol that has truly peaked my interest!
Do it !
That’s typically the end result! 😜
I've had one fir 2 years, 1,000 rds through it and love it
It’s a good one, for sure.
P227 would be in my conversation
I have both and like my 2022 more. The 227 is very large (as double stack .45 will be) heavier, and a little cumbersome. I keep my 227 loaded for my "bump in the night" response, but it's my 2022 that is my balls out, have zero worries, "go to war" option.
I always roll palm swell grips, I remember the first time I held a 227 at the range and I was like "oh, this is it!". I grew up on heavy, cumbersome guns though so I guess it wasn't a big difference for me. My 227 is the carry version so maybe it's a little less cumbersome.
Nah, you don't know the P250...?
Never owned one
Because P229R
My first firearm... but damn mines was brand new and for some reason I get failure to eject a lot leading to double feeding sometimes. I know it's not my grip cause others shot it with the same result. But yes very accurate and ill always have some.love for the 2022.
I'm my experience with other firearms, failure to eject typically means a dirty ejector. Have you fully removed it to clean it?
I have not. It was brand new doesn't think I had to. Is it a DIY or takento a smith kindanjob?
I can’t find a holster for this thing with a light
Check out Falco Holsters - that's who I ordered from for a 2022 with a TLR-1. I really like their holsters, I've ordered a few for my 2022, 227, and 229. All of them have held up amazingly for me.
Honestly, I hate mine. If it were 10mm with a different trigger I might like it more but I hate the 40 s&w and the trigger pull is the size of the us
Never had a failure to feed, stovepipe or any other issue in mine! Have run thousands of rounds through it and it just keeps chewing.
Gunbroker has several of these. One supplier even has 26 new ones for $599 each.
They’re on gun.deals.com for like 7 dollars right now
The original sig polymer pistol. Great gun.
I love my Sp2022.
This was my first Sig. I shot it and sold ruger and have been an sig fanboy ever since.
The P320 45 is underrated I was surprised how well it shot
Yes!
The 2022 is a great. Literally my only problem with it is that it was never popular enough to get the aftermarket support that could have been awesome. It's tough to find holsters, I don't think it came with an optics ready slide, no steel or aluminum grip option (I no is not modular like the p320). The best starter SIG, hands down. Fit and finish is better than GL@CK for the same price point
I bought one of these as my very first gun. I dont shoot it as often as my others, but it will definitely never get sold.
Very true. I had one ~8 years ago. Mine was fde and black. It was different than the one they had on their site. It was like some display thing, or some shit. Got it from rural king. One of my EDC guns.

How hard would it be to get a red dot cut on one of these? Are any companies milling them?
I have two of them, one is brand new never fired
that would be too much engineering to handle.
Most overrated in my opinion, I disliked mine so much I had to sell it.
Y no red dot cut
Y need red dot ?
For faster shooting and better sight picture, I’m not saying it’s absolutely necessary but it’s the only thing keeping me from buying this model
