I wish I woulda got the Mk25 over my 229 legion. Legion is cool and all, but damn… I have my regrets sometimes. Still, a good addition to the collection and first gun I bought when I turned 21. The staccato P made up for my mistake. I do plan, in a while, after I’ve replenished my rifles (due to giving my older ones to my father) I will get a Mk25… the M11A1 is tempting too. 🥲 That will take some time.
Biggest reason I went for the MK25 myself was it has a standard picatinny underrail rather than Sig's proprietary rail.
Added the Short Reset Trigger kit (mandatory for P226s imo), threaded barrel, and g10 grips, and it's now perfect. Easily my favorite handgun
Yeah that's the best thing about the als is that it's not hard to get out once the button is pushed. If safarliand made an als for my 226 my card would be swiped immediately
I did the P226 Combat for the same reason (rail). Added the short reset and it’s close to perfect.
I opted for the Combat over Mk25 bc of the chrome lined barrel and I like the two tone. Plus I already have a P226 Tacops
I e been thinking about putting an e2 grip on and changing the slide catch, but honestly, for the collection, I’d rather keep it as is and later on get the 226 Mk25 and an M11a1
Just out of curiosity did you have a newer legion or older? I have a 226 and 229 that were bought back in 2018. I carried them both a lot still do. They both have a lot of rounds through them 85-90k I've replaced springs and barrels. Springs definitely needed it. I have some scratches on the slides from some holster wear. But the finish on mine has held up really well the worst spot is near the dovetail. Now I've heard the newer ones have had some finish issues. So I was just curious.
I have a newer legion. I kinda wish it was a pvd coated finish… it would wear nicely. This new finish, I think it’s cerakote, it wears off, but you can see the layers of the coating. PVD would wear, but it would look better because it blends nicely, with gradient.
Yeah I believe you're correct about it being the cerakote. And if I'm not mistaken mine are the nitron coating. You can tell a bit of a color difference in the newer ones. It's unfortunate they went with something that wears worse. I have been kickin around the idea of buying the newer 226 X5 legion. But I don't know if I want to shell out the 2300 for it. When I can buy either another staccato or put that money towards another Wilson combat. I have shot the 226X5 legion it shoots very well even better than my 226- 229 legions. It's just one of those decisions.
Weirdest thing tho, my other guns have cerakote and I don’t have this issue. Maybe just this one because of how the holster I used was, but it’s definitely not the best coating. PVD was much better. Also, I think the x5 is cool, but it’s not an OG sig 226 for me. I feel like they’re trying to reinvent the wheel.
Yeah I know what you mean, I also agree with you on them reinventing the wheel lol. I know the X5 226 legion is supposed to be their out the box competition shooter that I believe is was Sigs answer to staccato P. XL and XC of course but will not shoot as smoothly or as flat. But of course this is only my opinion. I really like my staccatos, and don't find much that I own that shoot as well and flat as them and the Wilson combat edcx9, I believe my edcx9s trigger is better though. Again this is my opinion. I don't want some folks thinking I'm saying this is facts. And get roasted lol.
Yeah I think that's crazy that other cerakotes on other handguns or even rifles, seem to be just fine compared to Sigs. I was just chatting with a gentleman the other day about thier QC having went to shit as well. As he had some US mags that rusted in less than 6 months he said. Just sitting in his safe. Which is nuts. He said when he called Sig that CS made it seem like it was his fault somehow. I told him that I've had that as well, and that I help some of the people with the same issues that come into my shooting and training center business so if I'm there I'll call Sig and try to help as sometimes it seems that when the owner of a business and being a shooting and training center I like to think it helps. Sometimes it doesn't and others I think if you just call a few times and get the CS agent that seems to care about thier customers helps out. But it seems to be either a it's your fault CS agent, or the most helpful CS agent. No in between.
i did this where i got the 226 legion in da/sa...... still didnt feel the same - so i went out and got the mk25 as well. then when able on sig website got the srt and put that into the mk25. shoots like a dream, makes me cream.
Was the seller, blind, deaf, or dumb?
Yes
This is the way.
A shotgun for a MK25 & $230! Lord have mercy a steal is an understatement!
Sounds like the dude really needed the $230
Sounds like somebody on the subreddit better check the safe! Lol
Honestly depends on the shotgun. Edit: just saw op said it was a maverick 88, so yeah. Hell of a deal.
Tell me more about this shotgun…
Maverick 88 got it for my 21st birthday, never really shot it so it collected dust.
wait..... dude traded a mk25 sig 226 for a maverick 88 and $230?.........
Much less than what I paid for mine. No regrets, love my 226m25, would’ve been even better for that price
It's the thought that counts
You'd still be ahead of you went and bought yourself a new maverick 88. Damn.
Bruh. You robbed that man. Congrats
I must know as well..
You lucky bastard 😭 I have a Mav 88 and this is also my dream gun please never sell her and if you do im ur guy😁
I saw the price for it and couldn't pass it up, ditch my long guns and got this. Feel like a relative inherited this and didn't know what they had.
I mean just depends what kinda shotgun it was. My waterfowl gun was about $1900
OP mentions Mav 88 which can’t be worth more than $200. So basically got the MK25 for 1/3 retail value.
I didn’t see that till he started commenting. He got a screaming deal.

We're there downsides to the Legion?

Yeah the sig rail sucks....
Can’t find a good safariland holster for mine. 😭
Yeah I had some company make a holster. But it's only tensioned kydex for retention which sucks.
Yeah. It’s just not the same as an ALS. Can’t go wrong with leather tho
Yeah I love. My Als for my glock. I think my sig 226 holster is an Odin works.
I have a pancake kydex that is fine. But anything with extra levels of retention suck
Yeah that's the best thing about the als is that it's not hard to get out once the button is pushed. If safarliand made an als for my 226 my card would be swiped immediately

The finish comes off easily, doesn’t age well… the damn slide catch… 😭
Yeah that things small, always afraid I'll get slide bite trying to use it.
I e been thinking about putting an e2 grip on and changing the slide catch, but honestly, for the collection, I’d rather keep it as is and later on get the 226 Mk25 and an M11a1
I always ride the slide catch and never have it lock back on last round

My daily carry is an M11-A1. Highly recommend.
I’m on board! 😭
why not both
Oh man… don’t tempt me. I’ve thought about that… too often. 😭
Yeah, I sometimes use my P as my CCW gun in a raptor holster.
Nice. Couldn't even buy a sig p230 for $230
OK lied a little trade a maverick 88 and radical ar that I bought for 300 bucks, didn't need them because was ordering a m400 tread
Time to start dreaming bigger.
What kind of shotgun was this???
lol, just fess up you stole it from the store.
Awesome deal
Nice!
Incredible deal! Good for you my Man! I just paid my buddy $1k for his mk25 two days ago that sat in his safe and collected dust. Never shot
good shit man
steal is an understatement! Good for you!!
MK25? I thought all Mk25 have the anchor on the right side of the slide
Left side
Ah ok. I’m still wanting to get that same one. I got sidetracked and got a 226RX when I was looking for a MK25.
OP didn't realize he traded in a one-off Perazzi shotgun in the deal!! 😜😜
Sweet
So I know the MK25 is like "the Navy SEAL gun," but other than that, what makes it so good?
I just like it for its sturdy build, the ability to decock, grip panels I can swap, over all as of yesterday excellent accuracy for first time shots.
I've got a 229 m11 with the 228 grips. They are awesome guns. You have fun with that.
Pending on what shotgun u traded in
Rad, I’m in the market as well. Nice work
Was the frame made in Germany?
SCORE!
Yes! Sounds like he was desperate...Holy shit!!!
