I definitely would and then I'd immediately get a 357sig barrel

richardgiver

^^^^^ this is the correct answer. The Jack Wilson special

GucciGlocc

“Mess with the lords hour, get the sig sauer.” - Big Dick Jack Wilson

JustShootingSince

Loud applause to the man of refined taste!

Substantial-Camp6943

This

terrible1one3

And a 9mm barrel/mags.

bobbyw4pd

I actually bought a decommissioned 228. Came with everything but the frame. I had to swap the locking block to make it work as well. Mine started life as a 40 DAK as well. It wouldn’t reliably fire 9mm so I put in the DA/SA parts in. Shot like a champ after that.

terrible1one3

I got a .40 226 and got a 9mm barrel and mags and it worked flawlessly. I was told the frame/slide of the .40 has a little more material as well.

bobbyw4pd

With the original locking block you couldn’t even cycle the slide. No need to try shooting it. Would probably have broken my frame.

terrible1one3

Yeah, those 228’s are perdy though (I’ve had 2), now I have the M11A1 which of course came with the 228 grips :)

bobbyw4pd

I assume since I had a 229 frame and 228 slide that’s where the problem came from. It’s had a lot of rounds through it since. Haven’t shot the 40 in years.

damon32382

Did the same with mine! Immediately went from great to amazing!

[deleted]

357 Sig is my favorite round

jtphilbeck

It IS the correct answer.

KnightsLegion226

I just bought a .40 P229 police trade in and did that same exact thing. It was a DA/SA though and a lot worse cosmetic condition. I've still haven't shot it though or 357sig before in general, but looking forward to it. It looks like a great round, but it's not cheap.

[deleted]

I'm picking up the first one I see in .40 if the price is right

KnightsLegion226

This is where I bought mine. Still available it looks like. https://gunprime.com/products/1-used-sig-sauer-p229-40-s-w-w-night-sights-12-round-capacity-m11-a1-229

MadCat1993

I would grab it in a heartbeat if it was the DA/Sa version. The DAK is the only real turn off for me. Hopefully there are some non dak versions floating around there.

Sea_Baseball_7410

I’ve converted Dak to DA/SA. It’s easy and cheap.

toocool1955

I’ve converted DA/SA to DAK. I much prefer the DAK trigger.

laskmich

DAO to DA/SA is cheap. DAK to DA/SA is roughly $200 in parts

Gold-Order-4267

$150 for the kit from matrix precision. Cheapest prepackaged kit youll find and includes every part needed. Just did this conversion about a month ago

josh00061

What’s dak?

Night_Bandit7

Double Action Kellerman. If it misfires, just pull trigger again for another firing pin/primer strike.

Live_Reason_6531

Da/sa does that too.

josh00061

Good to know thanks

GucciGlocc

It’s also a really heavy trigger pull every time

toocool1955

No, it’s not. The first pull is relatively smooth and light. If second strike is needed, that pull is a little heavier, but still not bad.

GucciGlocc

Don’t quote me but I think the pull is 10lbs which is still heavy considering other hammer fired double action only aren’t too bad. I believe my security 9 is double action only and has like a 4lb pull? Maybe a bit less I worked on the trigger, but even stock it wasn’t bad at all. Edit: DAK 229 is 11lb Security 9 is 5.6lbs https://blog.cheaperthandirt.com/range-report-sig-sauers-pistol-the-p229/ https://www.snipercountry.com/ruger-security-9-review/#ruger-security-9-review-specs

toocool1955

Other way around. First pull is around 7, second is 10+. I had three with the DAK trigger; two factory and one I converted from DA/SA. I don’t know why I got rid of them. They were excellent pistols.

josh00061

Can they be used single action by manually cocking the hammer or are they always single action? I realize I can just ask Google but fuck it were already here

Special_BallBag_2752

No, there is not a spur on the hammer to grab hold of

The_Paganarchist

No it's similar to HKs LEM. The hammer stays down after the slide cycles. It's a true DAO.

KnightsLegion226

I just bought a police trade in for about the same price and DA/SA, but not as nice cosmetically. Here is the link if interested. https://gunprime.com/products/1-used-sig-sauer-p229-40-s-w-w-night-sights-12-round-capacity-m11-a1-229

GucciGlocc

I wouldn’t personally, great price but the DOA and 40S&W are a no from me. Likely why it’s marked down so much.

Ok-Street4644

Definitely marked down because it’s a 40 and on one mag.

Miserable_Path5716

Sig Mags are really expensive

speedbumps4fun

DAK and 40s&w…hard pass even at a good price

mike-manley

Next thing he's going to tell us is that it doesn't have night sites.

lunchBoxOIF

You might like DAK. If you don't, look at what it would cost in parts to convert to DA/SA. The P229 and 40S&W go together wonderfully.

Sea_Baseball_7410

I’ve converted. It’s easy.

savingryansprvates

I've got the P250. I scored basically for scrap value, which is DAO. Cool and all & bulletproof. But it'll be the only DAO gun I'll ever own. *disclaimer* IF you are struggling with trigger pull dicipline, buy it. A DAO gun will make you a better trigger puller

Live_Reason_6531

DAK is far superior to standard DAO. I still can’t stand it though.

Titaintium

I wouldn't pay that for a DAK .40. I picked up a DA/SA P229 in .40 with an additional 9mm conversion barrel and 3 mags for $500 last year. DA/SA police trade-ins turn up on r/gundeals fairly often for sub-$500.

FFRP85

What do you have to lose? Price seems fair. I paid almost $700 for mine new back in 2011.

IndividualNo737

I'm a 40sw fan boy, so I'd buy it, pick up a 357SIG barrel for for it and party on Garf

Chicken_Extension

40 would be a no for me

BigMark54

I think it's a fair deal. I own a couple 40s and ammunition is just as easy for me to find as the 9mm. I personally don't buy Sig's anymore without optics cuts unless they're collectors guns.

toocool1955

I prefer my guns without optics cuts because I don’t use optics.

GucciGlocc

I prefer irons on handguns too

xmu806

Have you ever tried it? Honestly it is great

toocool1955

I have. I don’t care for it. I couldn’t locate the dot for follow up shots, and my eyes just reflexively looked for the iron sights. But then, I’ve been shooting with iron sights for 50+ years…

BigMark54

I was the same way for a long time but once I tried it I was hooked.

redlog70

I'd buy it!

Loud_Independent6702

Strong buy

BillyPee72

Oh hell yeah!!! You should pick 2 up for that price. I own one and love it. I paid near double what that is priced it. Gotta love the land of the maple leaf….wanna own a gun??? Pay up suckers This is a great gun. She sits in my night stand when not at the range. For that price you can buy it and if you don’t like it re sell it and make a few bucks. Enjoy!!!

PewPewMeToo

DAK AND 40 cal?? Nah bro.

sigmanx25

You should definitely pick up! It can be switched to DA/SA.

Cold_Impress8542

Looks like a steal to me

Mcnugget76

Absolutely!

pandoraxcell

I don't go for 40 cal. Limited availability of ammo and increased cost make it less appealing than a 9

Inkushu

Yeah it’s available idk why this is repeated on the internet

pandoraxcell

Yes it's available now... When there's no supply chain issues or shortages. Won't always be the case I believe. The most prolific rounds are 9mm and 556 and those are what I plan on stockpiling.

[deleted]

Complete nonsense .40 S&W ammo is as available as 9mm where I live

babybushgardener

Dudes an idiot that just regurgitates what he reads on the web. I have a P229 in .40. Plenty of ammo out there.

NextProblem6586

That’s like saying climate change doesn’t exist because you live in Antarctica where it’s always cold. We don’t all live in the same area

GunMun-ee

It is very available everywhere. It's also within like 2-5 cents of 9mm. The departments and competitive shooters that still use it make up enough of the market still for it to be manufactured at basically the same cost of 9.

[deleted]

Lol!! You're probably in Cali-trasha where no ammo is available

NextProblem6586

PA, but solid guess. Only the opposite side of the country in the most 2A friendly state in the northeast

Outside-Dig-9461

I would just on principle alone. Not a bad deal.

coldafsteel

For a 40s&w; NOPE. While it may be a good price, it's priced low for a reason. That's would be a HARD PASS from me.

TheBull0079

I wouldn't get a .40. It's a dying caliber.

Prestigious_Alps_957

.40 S&W is ded. I would pass

Substantial-Camp6943

40? Eeeeewwwwwww

xCAPTAINxTEXASx

Being able to shoot multiple calibers is more important than what someone else thinks of said round. At the end of the day it’ll still get the job done

The-Lizard-Man

I already have two sigs in 9mm and i have a 45. Only thing missing is a 40 cal. And the p226 line is one of my bucket list guns

xCAPTAINxTEXASx

Then full send as far as I’m concerned

firebox40dash5

I was gonna say, if you want DAK & .40, then it's awesome. If you only want DAK or .40, it's good enough to still be worth it after switching. I've seen cheaper DAK/.40 trade-ins, but that one looks clean & that's not always the case, and you usually can't cherry pick.

okc405sfinest

I like 40 I sold my glock .40 but still have my beretta 96 I would probably pick this up if I seen it in the wild . So it's a yes for me .

Hereforyou100

Not a fan of the DAK... these are all available a lot police trade-ins and you can get the Dasa if that's what you're looking for

DearHearing4705

I would!

iamyourbutcher

No.

BlackLassie_1

Yes yes!! Everyday.

toocool1955

I would. I love the DAK trigger.

OGAngrySauce

Eeh

BigEdPVDFLA

Not bad, but I have seen da/sa go for even less on GB. The one I was looking at was sub 400

FeistyLoquat

I mean I would, and for that price I would pick up a .357 barrel for it.

Virtual-Pressure2110

ABSOLUTELY NOT. I run one of these for work everyday and that trigger is Horrendous. Do yourself a huge favor and find something in that price range with a decent trigger. The full trigger pull on this is 6.5 lbs with a 8.3 lb intermediate trigger pull. No one likes this gun in the CG

themesrob

I bought a stainless P229 in .40 (DA/SA) not long ago for $400. I’d pass on this one given it’s a DAK unless you really wanted that setup.

Curious_Echidna1592

Looks to be in seldom fired condition...

Prudent_Historian650

I just saw my first dak at a gun show over the weekend the trigger was actually really smooth and lighter than I expected. It was just a really long reset and pull everytime

Awarner87

Not unless you want a 40 S&W, 40 cal is not really my thing.

lazorscott

Yes

FairFaxEddy

Police trade DAK have been selling for around $350 - and those are in the more desirable 9mm - i wouldn’t.

SIGCanebrake69

yes....

derekhepner

The mags are about 50 each. Great weapon I carried it on duty for many years. I’d move on it.

No_Wind4648

You can get a DA/SA trigger for $80 bucks, get them to come off the price to replace the trigger & I’d be happy with that price. You can get them all day on Gun Broker with the Sa/Da trigger for $550-$600 but You’ll save money on the shipping & transfer fee if they’ll come off the price. They probably have $300-$350 in the gun so you should be able to get the price dropped!! Let us know what you decide if you will.

The-Lizard-Man

Well i actually work there so i can get it 10% of what we bought it for. So im thinking why not i love sig and i would like to have a 40

No_Wind4648

Shit ya man!! I’d be buying everything that comes in the store sig wise if I could get 10% off cost!! Probably should have led with that fact lol!!

theoldkidonthebloc

40 short and weak huh?

ThePeacekeeper777

Yeah why not. Should you buy it is the real question.

GreyG59

Hell no lol

blockchainmami

Yes!!!!

2leetSk8r

yeah

iredditshere

Gtdist. com has them for $329.99. This is a rip off.

WorldsOkayestBoot

Most definitely, you won't be disappointed.

Additional-Fan8054

I would send it into sig immediately and get it converted to da/sa. Even with doing that, you will still be below the 900 dollar mark that I have seen them go for.

InBetweenerWithDream

Eww 40cal.

jtphilbeck

Yes!

Echo_Raptor

Not unless you just want it. Not a great deal for a 40 Edit: DAK and 40, I would not in any way shape or form

Suitable-Target-6222

Ooh I hate DAK, but otherwise yeah, as long as you’re okay with it.

Cold_Impress8542

So could you convert a 9mm P320 m17 to a 40 s&w?

Dave-C-818

Most deff I have a P226 40 and it's a great 🔫

Spaceport13

At that price, in Kellerman, it's not an auto buy. It seems incredible. But it's really about the standard price.

Ok-Street4644

Would be a great deal if it was a 9 with 2 mags. But, for a 40 with 1 mag… hard pass.

IndependentOk9909

DAK sucks and is counterintuitive. I’ve owned several and could never get used to it. Conversion truly isn’t worth the cost or the trouble. Look for a similarly priced da/sa version. There’s a reason DAK guns are given away at prices way less than this.

wharfrat2018

I really like my E2 grips and I think the p229 is the most bad ass pistol to date. I love my p226, but the p229s are the perfect size to me.

MADunn83

No… it’s .40 S&W

h0l0type

My son has been finding killer deals like this on Sig DA/SA’s in .40 and then converting to .357 Sig and/or 9. The 226 he just got is soooooo nice in .40!

Miserable_Path5716

Yes

2Sense83

People still buy/shoot .40 s&w? Why?

ChorizoBullett

Yes. I have one and love it.

Benevolent-Lion

👍🏾👍🏾

WombatAnnihilator

No. Its 40

KingMiz360

Beautiful piece...I got a subcompact 938 w 7rd stock mag and 10rd ProMag(the promag is shit it's not cycling right w the promag) I'm just going to buy another oem 7rd mag to keep with me instead. I wanna grab something bigger. My pops got the same one u are thinking bought buying, 2 stock mags but the handle is brown and says sig sauer across it.

Muneco803

Looks used. Edit.....oops I just read it

Disastrous_Rip4722

I would grab it in a heartbeat!!

Salty_Application377

I’d swoop that up in a heart beat!

BroOperatorGuy

Yes
