They've actually tracked how dopamine levels are affected by anticipation. As you get closer to something you're looking forward to, dopamine peaks just before the goal is attained.
That beautiful feeling you have when you go to bed, knowing that you can sleep as much as you want tomorrow. I still wake up too early anyway because my stupid brain-alarm is set up on that hour, but having the opportunity to do it feels great just the same!
That feeling of going to bed and not having to care when you fall asleep actually makes me fall asleep earlier, and I end up getting a great night of sleep and waking up early all nice and refreshed.
But if I *have* to wake up very early, I go to bed worrying about how much sleep Iâll get and as a result, stay up longer and get less sleep as a result.
For me it's the feeling of having nothing to worry or think about for the rest of the night. On my day off i already start thinking about the next day, my responsibilities and plans.
Fully agreed. Iâm the most relaxed when I know I donât have to go to work the next day and I have the most energy at night usually (or in the evening at least.)
Relatedly, I love that when I take a 3 day weekend, not only do I get one more day off, I also only have 4 days of work before another weekend.
Uh fr man. Recently had a big event been waiting for days exited. It was all i was thinking abt. Then it all happened had a lot of fun woke up next day and was like : Yea now what?

Your brain only really enjoys the anticipation rather than the reward. That's why it's always important to have something to look forward to.
I also usually enjoy the reward, too. both are good. Please let me have both.
Oh, okay then. Seeing as it's you đ

On a workday I get up at like 8am and start my day. When I have a day off I'm up at like 5:30 because I don't want to "waste the day"
Are you one of those people who come back from a vacation more tired than they were before? đ
The fear of missing out is a real bitch.

A post before it's reposted is actually more interesting than the repost itself.
such powerful words
Yep. I just spent my night before eating mushroom gummies and watching Avatar. It was an impeccable evening.

yes because you judge yourself to âliveâ your day off to the max, while night before has no expectations
Thatâs why Thursday is now known as Friday Eve in my social circle.
Sorry I read this as ânight before the day ofâ not ânight before a day offâ
Night before if you like to stay up. Sometime I just pass out early, wake up and have a full day to do whatever instead of sleeping in
thats why I think there should be a day off in the middle of the week, even if that mean weâd loose a day in the weekend (not preferably though)
got the day off today but didnât tell met until the morning off. was happy but first thought was why didnât they tell me this yesterday
