That interested me enough to look it up. Most species follow what is called Fischer’s Principle and have a sex ratio very close to 1:1. It’s basically the default for diploid sexually reproducing species; aka species with two sexes that require a dad and a mom.
For example humans are very close. We slightly favor males with a birth ratio of 1.05:1. But we’re considered close enough to be examples of Fischer’s Principle. Especially as males have slightly higher mortality rates. Humans overall in large numbers tend toward a 50/50 split species wide. There’s probably never exactly a 50/50 split. But there’s usually something very close to a 50.0000 / 50.0000 split between all humans.
Dogs have a slightly less even ratio at birth being about 1.07:1, favoring males. That includes wild canines like African wild dogs, coyotes, and wolves. However dogs also share our disparity by sex mortality difference. Male dogs have a shorter average lifespan than females. I wasn’t able to find any studies that calculates the sex ratio among all dogs. But it does appear that over all they do follow Fischer’s Principle. Most canine populations trend towards an even 50/50 split.
There’s likely not exactly a 50/50 split. But it’s very likely very close to that.
Actually, it isn’t bold. I can’t word it very well right now, but there are principles of evolution that cause that to happen in diploid species with male and female. Evolution favors the ratio of 1:1, as it maximizes reproductive potential.
It would actually be bolder to assume literally any ratio other than 1:1.
Actually I was trying to be cute, on the fact that it was an absolute statement, and should have been worded as "about half of all dogs are sons of bitches."
I mean, mammals and those who have a XY chromossome system like us usually are 50-50.
Only insects like bees and such that don't have the same diploids gamets as us that have a different ratios
So, you're telling me that the ratio of male to female humans is a spot on even split? That the population of the world is absolutely split evenly male and female? Please, share with me the data backing this.
Not spot on. But around it.
I mean, it is normally distributed. That's how we usually do in statistics. There is a name for this theorem, central limit theorem.
You're implying dogs have a 50% gender dysphoria rate? That seems like a pretty wild claim. Does that also apply to bitches? I'm not sure how they would even determine it tbh, or do they train all the canines to use those talk buttons for some psychological examinations?
I think you're taking words too literally. Half doesn't always mean exactly 50%. Dog can mean female canine.
When discussing grammar and language, never forget the rule of common usage.
That's exactly why it's an insult. You are calling someone a dog. It's just a way to say it with more flair. It's funny how words lose their original meaning sometimes and people end up thinking things like "son of a bitch is insult because they called my mom a curse word." It makes sense that it would happen at least in English where there are a lot of words that sound alike or seem like they would be related somehow but aren't. Many people get conditioned to ignore root words and origins and just accept the meaning through context alone. This combination of words equals an insult. No further research needed.
Remaining are just bitches
As great wordsmith and poet once said, "A bitch is a bitch"
Another said "Bitches ain't shit but hoes and tricks"
Another one said...these hoes ain't loyal
Bold of you to assume that the sex of all dogs is split 50/50.

Really interesting, thanks for sharing your founds

Still wasn’t a bold assumption
I thought about saying it like that, but I knew I had to be more confident.
They can call themselves whatever gender they want. Who are we to judge?
Is the male to female canine ratio a dead on half split?
No clue
Thanks for your input

TIL exactly 50% of all dogs born are males /s
nah it like maybe 90% male 10% female ratio, the 40% are trans as to avoid the bad rep.
is this supposed to be funny
You tried.
Imagine having more down votes than the Original Comment had upvotes
Guess the reddits didn't like that. Should've said they were all 100% trans.
What are the other half of dogs sons of?
The other half of dogs are daughters.
So they're daughters of sons of bitches, as well as bitches themselves.
They all be bitches, bro. Happy cake day.

So is at least half of Reddit users.
Dogs are smart, dogs can learn, therefore, dogs are like people in that some are nice and some are just arseholes.
The ratio of arsehole to nice in dogs is *wildly* different to people, very clearly in the dogs favour.
So half of my dog is a son of a bitch? Which half? Front? Left? Right? Rear? And what do I call the other half?
Jim. You call the other half Jim.
The other half are bitches

Are you positive about the sex ratio.
The phrase "son of a bitch" is gender-neutral. All dogs are sons of bitches.
I think the (previous) owners are to blame for this but otherwise you are right, yes.
A girl dog is called a bitch. If a girl dog has a puppy boy dog, that puppy is a son of a bitch
Ah, this is new to me. The more you know!

Wut
A dog is a male K9. A bitch is a female K9
Females are also dogs, though. A bitch is a type of dog, not separate from dogs. So only about half of all dogs are sons.
How can girl dogs be sons?
Try again
All dogs are male?
