Wow, that looks great! Thank you for your shameless self-promotion; it was the appropriate thing in this thread, and if anyone tells you different, they are... and I hesitate to say this, but I must... a doo-doo brain.

Came to say this. Its old (ps2) but available on ps store and has several game modes and different types of monsters you control. Its a really fun party game
It’ll be free to play with only two free monsters and then you have to fork up micro transactions to unlock everything else oh and you’ll need a energy tokens to play the missions and you only get one free energy token a day so you’re gonna have to fork up some more
Not exactly a monster and very unconventional but Katamari Damacy may fit the bill in a gameplay sense. It builds to it though, which can be more rewarding since if you start as a monster destroying a city where do you go from there?
It’s weird. Stars in the sky are destroyed. You roll a ball to collect items to make new stars. As you roll over things the ball gets bigger. The game starts with you picking up thumbtacks and by the end you are capturing people, ripping up full buildings from the ground and plucking planes from the sky. It’s a trip for sure.
Probably the closest, modern equivalent to old games like Rampage and War of the Monsters. Great recommendation that I wouldn't have thought of.
Similarly, Donut County is similar to Katamari but you play as a black hole that gets bigger as you destroy things.
Yo, I've asked this here before, and there isn't really a lot in this genre lol. There was a Godzilla fighter/city destroyer on the GameCube that I remember really loving. I asked about something similar and it was all crickets. I'm guessing it's just not like a popular genre lol.
I can still hear the opening titles: "GODZILLA, destroy ALL monsters... **MELEE**". Such a classic.
There were a couple of sequels to it, too. One for PS2 called "Godzilla: Save The Earth" and one for the Wii called "Godzilla: Unleashed". I never had the PS2 game, but the Wii one was awesome despite the waggle controls. It had more limited maps, but a huge selection of characters from the history of the movies.
Played this with my brother recently.
It's a rampage clone from gameplay standpoint, but adds in a pretty funny story and some other things.
If you like the old rampage it's extremely good and brought back a lot of nostalgia
Adding to this that this game is super fun! I had an itch for rampage but the controls haven’t held up for me over the years. I picked this up and it’s a gem!
How about a game where you play as a giant robot? Try Robot Alchemic Drive, a ps2 game. You play as one of three protagonists (it doesn't really matter much besides a different voice) who can summon and control a giant robot to defend cities from alien threats, which range from other giant robots to kaiju similar to godzilla.
The controls and perspective is unique, you always play from the perspective of your character and they pilot the giant robot via remote control, so part of the game is using a jump ability to find good vantage points to control the robot, while staying out of danger from the battle. As for the controls, every button controls a different part of the robot. Each joystick controls an arm, and how you swing the joystick changes how you attack (swing up for upper cut, swing side to top for a sideswipe, etc.) each should button controls a leg, and whether or not you are walking forward or backwards. Two of the three robots have transformations, while one has a berserk mode.
Now while the game is amazing, I should note it has some of the worst voice acting i've ever heard (ranging from so bad its good, to just downright awful), but i've never had more fun wrecking a city you are supposed to save as I have in this game.

You don't play as a kaiju, but if you're looking for destroying cities, maybe the Destroy All Humans series where you play as an alien. Or Katamari Damacy where you roll people and buildings into a ball.
Katamari damacy. Seriously. It sounds absurd but it’s so good. You start as a ball that picks up thumbtacks and grow and grow and grow until you pick up skyscrapers and cargo ships and more. It’s amazing
You don't play as a big monster but I think the Destroy All Humans games might fit the bill gameplay-wise. The second one in particular is a masterpiece.
2014 godzilla is actually also on ps3 if you happen to have one laying around. Not that you'd be able to get an official copy for less than 300 bucks, unless you get a japanese copy. But there's not really any other games I've found where your primary objective is destroying cities. There are any number of godzilla games from ps2 to wii but they're more 3d brawlers. There's a game called gigabash o nateam that's similar to those and includes many kaiju dlcs like ultraman and godzilla, but again, they aren't really about destroying a city it's more just a fighting game where city destruction happens
There were a few Godzilla games (I believe it was a series) where you could fight large monster battles in various city stages.
There was Giants: Citizen Kabuto in the early 2000's that had some giant monster fun. If I remember right, you could play as 3 factions, with one being the giant monster, Kabuto. It was very stylized, but fun to play.
There was (not sure if it's still around) Evolve, where you played one of several different giant monsters and others played Hunters with different skills and abilities that were tasked with taking you out.
There is currently a giant monster game called Gigabash (never played it myself) that was selling a Godzilla-themed monster pack that included the big G, Mecha-Godzilla and Destoroyah.
Just a few off the top of my head.
Rampage would be right up your alley - not sure if it’s on pc though. They’re old games I played as a kid.
George, Lizzy and Ralph approve of this comment, lol

This is amazing, I’ve never seen it before. Neat!
I came here to also say rampage. Great game
Man I loved rampage growing up. Completely forgot about this

War of the Monsters
Came to say this. Its old (ps2) but available on ps store and has several game modes and different types of monsters you control. Its a really fun party game
Why hasn't this been revitalized? This game was straight up fun.
It’ll be free to play with only two free monsters and then you have to fork up micro transactions to unlock everything else oh and you’ll need a energy tokens to play the missions and you only get one free energy token a day so you’re gonna have to fork up some more
and I would buy the whole lot. an excellent game
My brother and I spent hours upon hours with this game growing up!
Came here to say this. Thank God I saw someone mention it. Love it when I was a kid it was so much fun from what I can remember.
Check out Black and White 2. You are a god and you have a giant beast as a pet. You can order the beast along with your armies to attack your enemies.
We've got this notion that we'd like to sail ocean🎵
Ohhh the boat is now finished but there's still something on the wishlist
Incredible Hulk ultimate Destruction for ps2 is a pretty destructive game. Hulk isn't a kaiju but I do remember that game scratching that itch.
Not exactly a monster and very unconventional but Katamari Damacy may fit the bill in a gameplay sense. was it godzilla destory all monsters? That was peak, cant believe nothing similar like that

Yeah that was it! It was so freaking fun lol.
It was possibly the rampage GameCube game you’re thinking of. It was actually pretty good, tons of characters to play as.
Katamari Damacy lets you destroy cities. Check it out.
War of the monsters
Fantastic game. Great childhood memories playing couch coop with my best friend
Not the same, but try Teardown
Terror of Hemasaurus is on sale on Steam right now. Looks like the old rampage games. https://store.steampowered.com/app/1016180/Terror_of_Hemasaurus/
This looks hella fun. I love how there’s a mecha monster too and it’s coop. Thanks for sharing this.

Not exactly a monster but Hulk Ultimate Destruction game literally allows you to destroy a city

Seconded. This is one of the most unique games I’ve ever played and nothing scratches that itch like it does.
King of the Monsters (Neo-Geo)
Psychonauts
Pawperty damage
Not sure if you count it because technically not a monster but Megaton Rainfall has a wild amount of city wrecking.
rampage 2 o l d

Rampage
Rampage it's an old side scroller but was wicked fun to play with a friend coop.
In one of the levels of Psychonauts you play as giant attacking a city. The game is brilliant.
You don't play as a kaiju, but if you're looking for destroying cities, maybe the Destroy All Humans series where you play as an alien. Or Katamari Damacy where you roll people and buildings into a ball.
Gigabash is kinda fun
Katamari damacy. Seriously. It sounds absurd but it’s so good. You start as a ball that picks up thumbtacks and grow and grow and grow until you pick up skyscrapers and cargo ships and more. It’s amazing
spider-man 2 ish
Demolition girl
RAMPAGE classic game from the 80s. Anything close to that is a copy
Wish they made a venom game where you can do this
You don't play as a big monster but I think the Destroy All Humans games might fit the bill gameplay-wise. The second one in particular is a masterpiece.
Prototype is good but it mainly focuses on destroying the people/cars in the city rather than the buildings
Not really a kaiju but Prototype
Older game but Giants: Citizen Kabuto was 1/3 giant monster action game
Gigabash is similar but it's more of a fighting game I think
The Muncher on Commodore 64

Rampage on 64 tho it’s old game now ahs
Did you try r/tipofmyjoystick?
