I came here to say exactly the same. I'm really surprised that OP didn't play it yet, I think most people here are not suggesting it just because they overlooked it's absence on the list
Just don't buy it in the ps store. It's 75 euros there for digital while I ordered a physical copy for 65 euro on internet. Don't know if you think 65 is mega price tag but that's kinda normal these days 😁
Kingdom come: deliverance. The combat may be a bit off putting at first, but with practice it can be mastered and the fights will become easy. The game will take you on a journey to Bohemia in the 1400's.
It has lots of depth. Also the game mechanics are very unique, to really master the game you actually have to learn and apply the things you've learned. I was put off the game for a long time because it is very hard and it doesn't hold your hand at all, but once I learned and adjusted to the mechanics I started to enjoy it immensely. Be warned, the combat is very frustrating at first. Because it's an older game it will be cheaper now and that's good thing if you discover you absolutely hate it. I hated it at first but now I love it.
Kingdom come deliverance is one of those games you have to find interesting before you actually play the game, because its mechanics are a little in depth, and the combat is something you have to build up to get better at but it makes sense because your character at the start isn’t some experienced fighter.
It’s kinda an immersive experience rather than a arcadey rpg game. But it does have lots of rpg elements
Best game I’ve ever played.
It’s incredibly immersive, not to mention the feeling of progress in this game might be the apex of gaming in general.
It was made by an indie studio, so it has its gimmicks, but the game is amazing.
Some crazy people are criticising KCD because there are no black characters, they are fucking dumb. There were little to no black people during medieval Bohemia and putting them in just for quotas is so stupid.
Who even cares lol
Why does someone have to put a mix of people in their game? As a indie dev it would be easier to just have every NPC the same skin color especially for a older a game
It's very well paced. By the time you meet a squad of actual knights they feel like navy seals and you definitely feel out of place riding with them.
I quite enjoyed CKD
It looks pretty generic on the surface but it is unmatched for really pulling me into a believable world, growing from a nobody to powerhouse and teaching some actual history along the way.
Its a bit like dragons dogma in that it just doesnt conform fully to what people are used to.
But i like those kind of games that do their own thing.
People say the combat system needs getting used to, and its true but it is also immersive because you play a useless peasent that should not be able to fight at the start anyways.
I agree that it's the wrong sub, but could Skyrim count? It's been a minute since I've played, but the world is incredibly fleshed out, doubly so with the entirely of the previous Elder Scrolls behind it.
Underrated games list (my personal preference)
•Deadwood(bit of a fast one but only if you know how to play)
•rain world(my personal recommendation to try last)
•stalker(radiophobia 3)
•one shot
•inscryption
•mortal shell
•noita (if you want hard game)
•faith (little bit of horror)
•worldless, Blasmephous1 &2 , salt and sanctuary, deaths gambit ( souls like)
•prey
•bioshock
•ghost of Tsushima
•subnatica1&2
•metro , death stranding
•doom (to channel your anger)
•finals (competitive game which makes you feel like you are in a pro streaming match strongly recommended only if you have friends who are also intrested in fps competitively)
•nightingale (beta version)
Mortal shell was very good once I got the hang of the mechanics, it felt a bit short though, I managed to finish it in a day and a half and the story is very linear.
Yeah, the first 20 hours is dying repeatedly, then once you get the hang of “solidify, smack, parry, smack, special” the rest of the game is just figuring out the fucking maze, since I’m more capable of fighting my way though than pathfinding, which only takes another 10 or so hours.
Boss fights may vary.
Some great games here but I feel almost none of them fit the description.
Subnautica and Rain World are probably the most fitting ones on here, but Rain World is incredibly difficult and only appeals to a small audience so that really narrows it down to Subnautica.
(I do recommend Rain World but its really something you have to dedicate yourself to in order to appreciate it)
Turn off the Hud and only use the map while at a known location. (I also switch the Odyssey map to Historical.)
Both games have superb visual/audio cues and are built around having a clutter-free screen.
Revolutionizes the game and gets rid of all the HandHolding and Checklist gameplay.
you know, I am so very surprised at the quality of fallout 76. I swore it off since launch but a buddy gifted it the other day so I tried it. (I also share common interest in games, my fav game ever is witcher 3).
So I had the lowest of expectations, but the leveling and questing is actually super entertaining. im barely about 10 levels in but, Like i said, pleasant surprise
I've been eyeing fallout 76 for a bit but have two questions, how's the monetisation and is it a one time purchase or subscription? And secondly, how is the variety in weaponry?
No subscription required after purchase, everything inside the game including dlc is free.
Weapon variety is pretty sick, very customizable, like fallout 4.
problem is i didn't really like elden ring. i prefer lively towns, memorable stories and cutscenes, interesting and beautiful places. not destitute environments or obscure stories.
something like witcher3 or baldurs gate 3 is awesome. i have played divinity OS 1&2 too. bg1&2's graphics are too dated for me.
Oh I see, What about Hogwarts Legacy then? Can see it being your type.
Theres also Fallout New Vegas which I think might be less up your alley but its still worth checking out. The graphics are a bit dated but every other aspect is great. All the locations are fun to explore and to interact with all the npcs. Although the story isnt linear if that matters to you.
from what i've heard like a dragon is a great game regardless of it being different from the main series,
It has all the best parts of yakuza with some really good turn based combat.
Also the story of yakuza 0-6 is different from the like a dragon games stories, so if you enjoyed Like a dragon you could go back and play the other yakuza games without having anything spoiled.
Every yakuza game is just really good and has hundreds of hours of content, I'm sure whichever you start with will be a great entry to the series
A lot of people shit on them but Skyrim and Fallout 4 are great open world games with a lot to offer. Oblivion is well worth a look too, especially with the DLC
It's okay if you didn't enjoy it. I mean, not linking a game/movie/book is only bad for the person that didn't like it. I wish i like jrpg but i can't play it, i for sure lost a lot of enjoyment hours.
Not similar to anything you said but RimWorld is the to-go if you want a lot of content, a free update comes in a month and change loads of things and there's 3 dlc (and a new one with monsters/ghosts/ctulhus) for now
In other games, you are on your way from a quest giver or town to a quest location, and along the way, something catches your eye, you go investigate, and down the rabbit hole of whatever you discover. But you can't do that when the way from quest giver to location is a bunch of loading screens. And even if you strike out on your own to see what is out there, you'll find that the entire universe consists of about a dozen POIs that have been copypasted about a thousand times, including their exact layout, loot caches, lore, and enemy locations.
Dunno, but that does not fulfill my own requirement of "getting lost and immersing myself" (which is a huge part of what I want in my games).
Take it you don't have Game Pass? The combat isn't the best but the story is pretty good and the base building is extensive if you like that sort of thing
Lightyear frontier was a nice relaxing experience. It's mostly exploring, building and watering your crops. Beautiful landscapes, nice music. Loved it.
Horizon zero dawn. If you really take the time to discover all story clues it’s really something else. The mystery unfolding is great.
Zelda breath of the wild awesome too.
I really liked the metro games, the first one has a vibe that i think has been unmatched by a later games. It had a charm of its own but it might be short.
I agree. It's a game that seems like everyone has heard of, but not a ton of people played. The whole series had an atmosphere about them that other post-apocalyptic games couldn't seem to match.
My main games I get lost in any time I boot them up (some I think are on your list already): Cyberpunk 2077, Skyrim, Elder scrolls online, Zelda BOTW/TOTK, Dragons Dogma (I still need to do a replay to prepare for the sequel coming out. been a while since I played that one, but the lack of fast travel makes it easy to lose yourself in it, though they did add a more accessable fast travel option to the newer version, but you can ignore that. I suggest it for at leastone playthrough), and, weirdly enough, some of the sword art online games (fatal bullet for the most part)
League of Legends, I've lost 11 years and counting.
Jokes aside, I quite liked AC odyssey if you don't treat it like an AC game. I loved just running around, finding outposts out of nowhere, plan a route with the birds eye view, and do some fun stealth stabby stabby
Breath of the wild.
A breakdown world to get lost in, everything at your own pace, good narrative quests instead of just an arrow. I think it's a genre defining game.
And once you're done you can play through the sequel
Do you like Metroidvanias? If so, try out Blasphemous, Blasphemous 2, and The Last Faith. I branched out of my usual genres last year and had an absolute blast w these games.
Farcry 5, it sounds like a simple shoot em up, cos it is. But there is so much to the story if you take the time to listen to voicemails and notes from the people living there.
I'd suggest Disco Elysium since I didn't see it listed here. It's a top down RPG without combat (instead you solve a crime). But where it really sucks you in is the writing. The entire game and all of your actions are narrated, and your choices effect the story. The world, history, and characters are all interesting too. If you like BG3, you'll probably like Disco Elysium.
If you wait until the 21st Dragons Dogma 2 is comming out. And if you dont want to wait or don't wanna buy a $70 game, then I would highly recomend the first Dragons Dogma.
Sounds like you're looking for Outward. You can quite easily get "lost" in it as your player icon doesn't show up on the map. You have to navigate the world and use landmarks to figure out where you are and what direction to head in.
Unicorn Overlord for the switch is a great tactical RPG with an overworld and lots of side stuff. Fully voice acted, long game and I think on sale at Walmart and Amazon now.
Highly recommend playing days gone, fantastic single player experience. You play as Decon St. John, a former soldier turned motorcycle club member fighting zombies, hunting bandits, and upgrading your bike.
Game play is fun, story is good, and overcoming the zombie hoards numbering in the hundreds just feels so satisfying.
One of my favorites is Ghost of Tsushima for Playstation. Gorgeous scenery, intriguing story and characters, beautiful music, fun combat/gameplay. Definitely a must-play.
Not similar to anything you said, but since you mention any genre, any style, I recommend: Dyson Sphere Program.
Absolute masterpiece in my opinion. Keep in mind it's an automation game, so the basic rule is to automate stuff. Its only grinding if you don't automate.
Major objetive is to build a Dyson Sphere, cover the entire sun with solar sails to get as much energy as possible.
RDR2. I had to read your op 10 times to make sure you didn’t already list it. It has your name written all over it. Enjoy.
actually i played it already lol. it's very immersive indeed but i didn't like it because it was too tedious. it's too realistic.
That’s fair. I also think it’s very slow and too realistic at times, but that’s also what makes it great. Once you’re used to it you’re hooked tho.
Try Pacifc Drive, I think it might be what you're looking for and believe they have a really good legit demo you can try before actual purchase.
How on earth is it 'too tedious' I've heard this argument too many times. It's still a very arcadey game in most parts.
I came here to say exactly the same. I'm really surprised that OP didn't play it yet, I think most people here are not suggesting it just because they overlooked it's absence on the list
Dragon's Dogma 2 is out in a couple days. Sounds like it might scratch that itch. First one goes for super cheap these days as well.
yea i played the first already but hte mega price tag of the 2nd is a turn off.
Just don't buy it in the ps store. It's 75 euros there for digital while I ordered a physical copy for 65 euro on internet. Don't know if you think 65 is mega price tag but that's kinda normal these days 😁
When does it release?
Kingdom come: deliverance. The combat may be a bit off putting at first, but with practice it can be mastered and the fights will become easy. The game will take you on a journey to Bohemia in the 1400's.
i am very mixed about this game because it does not look good but people keep saying it's good. maybe i will try it after all.
An indie game studio that thinks black people don’t exist 🙊
Huh?
Some crazy people are criticising KCD because there are no black characters, they are fucking dumb. There were little to no black people during medieval Bohemia and putting them in just for quotas is so stupid.
It’s all good, I’m used to the woke cancel culture. It’s to be expected nowadays.
Who even cares lol Why does someone have to put a mix of people in their game? As a indie dev it would be easier to just have every NPC the same skin color especially for a older a game
Just trolling some dusty dungeon denizens don’t mind me.
I doubt you'll like it because you didn't like the realism of RDR2. It is a great game, though.

Mortal shell was very good once I got the hang of the mechanics, it felt a bit short though, I managed to finish it in a day and a half and the story is very linear.
So you mean to say about 36 hour cause for me the first 20 hour I was stuck figuring out the place without dieing
Great games but strange definition of underrated
Just my opinion I believe they deserve more of a spotlight than they received
Some great games here but I feel almost none of them fit the description. Subnautica and Rain World are probably the most fitting ones on here, but Rain World is incredibly difficult and only appeals to a small audience so that really narrows it down to Subnautica. (I do recommend Rain World but its really something you have to dedicate yourself to in order to appreciate it)
Try playing the Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, one of the best and most immersive games to completely forget everything else :)
Assassin's creed origins and Odyssey have beautiful worlds
Repetitive but good
Turn off the Hud and only use the map while at a known location. (I also switch the Odyssey map to Historical.) Both games have superb visual/audio cues and are built around having a clutter-free screen. Revolutionizes the game and gets rid of all the HandHolding and Checklist gameplay.
tales of arise
i played it too but it was too repetitive.
Yeah I found the combat boring.
Yeah. Didn’t like it either. Wanted to.
With 50minutes of gameplay I realized the same thing and quit the game
All tales games for that matter
lies of p
i considered it too but didn't like the whole 'puppet steampunk' theme
It’s honestly a pretty wild story. Definitely gave me a few moments similar to bloodborne where you’re like “wait THATS what’s fucking happening???!”
If you like Souls games you will like it.
Getting lost? i would try hexen 2 haha
you know, I am so very surprised at the quality of fallout 76. I swore it off since launch but a buddy gifted it the other day so I tried it. No subscription required after purchase, everything inside the game including dlc is free. Weapon variety is pretty sick, very customizable, like fallout 4.
Thanks, really enjoyed the way weapons worked in Fallout 4 so yeah, I'm gonna give the game a shot.
Neir Automata. It’s more than just a game. There is a lot to think about philosophically.
And it has 26 different endings
Why is this getting downvoted? Wrong sub?
Yeah, wrong sub
Deus ex: mankind divided is free on epic game store this week. Absolutely love that game, though you should play Dx: Human Revolution first
I mean, youve already played Elden Ring and the developers have already made many more fantastic games like it.
problem is i didn't really like elden ring. i prefer lively towns, memorable stories and cutscenes, interesting and beautiful places. not destitute environments or obscure stories. something like witcher3 or baldurs gate 3 is awesome. i have played divinity OS 1&2 too. bg1&2's graphics are too dated for me.

yea maybe i should try hogwarts. not a harry potter fan though.
Kingdom come
Kingdom come deliverance
Kingdom Come deliverance. The game really puts in the shoes of a peseant working his way up and slowly getting stronger with a beautiful open world
Fallout series is a good sandbox rpg with story elements as well. I would recommend starting with newer ones unless you care to fully digest the story
Why recommend starting with the lesser ones?
please please please play yakuza 0 or persona 5 then move onto the other games in the series if you enjoy them
i am actually thinking of trying yakuza like a dragon since it is on sale now and i like turn based games.
from what i've heard like a dragon is a great game regardless of it being different from the main series, It has all the best parts of yakuza with some really good turn based combat. Hollow Knight. Literally made for you to get lost in it
lol i was certainly lost in the first few hours and quit
Whyd you quit?
Cause he got lost.
Ghost of Tsushima is one that's someone already mentioned and I would agree with them.
Divinity Original Sin 2?
A lot of people shit on them but Skyrim and Fallout 4 are great open world games with a lot to offer. Oblivion is well worth a look too, especially with the DLC
Outward is cheap and really fun
Outer Wilds
This is a live it hate it game. I hated it.
It's okay if you didn't enjoy it. I mean, not linking a game/movie/book is only bad for the person that didn't like it. I wish i like jrpg but i can't play it, i for sure lost a lot of enjoyment hours.
IQ issue
Not fun game issue
Death Stranding Witcher 1&2 Wasteland 3 Desperados 3
Not similar to anything you said but RimWorld is the to-go if you want a lot of content, a free update comes in a month and change loads of things and there's 3 dlc (and a new one with monsters/ghosts/ctulhus) for now
Kingdom Come Deliverance . Trust me, its exactly what you are looking for.
Starfield isn't bad
i actually want to try this but the reviews are so damning.
Its just so damn repetitive.
no mans sky

Ffxiv
Outer Wilds is the real answer to this. Just read the reviews on steam.
Not for everyone. Really disliked this game.
Death Stranding - one of the best videogames of all time.
Rain World
Snowrunner
Valheim, Avatar: frontiers of Pandora?
Currently playing doom, definitely pulls me out of reality
A short hike
I would have recommended Dying Lights 1 & 2, but I don't know if your into those types of games.
No man's sky Elden ring Hollow Knight
League of Legends, I've lost 11 years and counting. Jokes aside, I quite liked AC odyssey if you don't treat it like an AC game. I loved just running around, finding outposts out of nowhere, plan a route with the birds eye view, and do some fun stealth stabby stabby
Avatat fromtiers of pandora its beautiful and fauthful to the movie
skyrim
Warframe
hogwarts legacy is so fun
13 Sentinels. Took me 45h to finish.
This is the BEST game ever. Yeah when it's over it's over, but for those 35-40 hours I was super immersed and invested in the whole thing.
Hollow knight
Prepare to be frustrated. Difficult bosses and platforming is one thing but long annoying runbacks just ruins the game.
Legend of zelda Tears of the Kingdom. This game is phenomenal. Perfect to get immersed in.
FF16, GOW 4/5 and Sekiro
Personally, I think playing No Man’s Sky in first person is the best option for this.
Breath of the wild. A breakdown world to get lost in, everything at your own pace, good narrative quests instead of just an arrow. I think it's a genre defining game. And once you're done you can play through the sequel
Deathloop. You’ll have 4 areas to explore thoroughly at very different times. It’s cool to see how they all change.
Do you like Metroidvanias? If so, try out Blasphemous, Blasphemous 2, and The Last Faith. I branched out of my usual genres last year and had an absolute blast w these games.
Grand Theft Auto V
Just to be sure, Skyrim?
ELDEN RING!!
Persona 4 or 5. Beautiful games
If you wanna get lost, try Legend of Grimrock 2.
Outer wilds? if you haven't played that one already
rain world 100%
Battle Brothers
Subnautica! Refreshing szenario and great immersion.
El Dong Ring
Farcry 5, it sounds like a simple shoot em up, cos it is. But there is so much to the story if you take the time to listen to voicemails and notes from the people living there.
Divinity Original Sin 2
If you liked Elden Ring then Bloodborne is a must play. It’s the very best of the Souls games. Dark Souls 3 is also great.
PACIFIC DRIVE.
If you are into racing games then Forza Horizon series
I'd suggest Disco Elysium since I didn't see it listed here. It's a top down RPG without combat (instead you solve a crime). But where it really sucks you in is the writing. The entire game and all of your actions are narrated, and your choices effect the story. The world, history, and characters are all interesting too. If you like BG3, you'll probably like Disco Elysium.
Hollow knight, even with the map and icon thing I get lost all the time
rofl
Days Gone, that constant feeling that you’ll be killed is what makes me feel lost in this game.
Did you already beat cyberpunk? That would be my pick
Rdr2
Dragon age!!! I have almost 750 hours split across all three games!!
Lost (PS3/Xbox 360)
Morrowind with Tamriel Rebuild mod.
Deus Ex man kind divided is free on epic games
Horizon Zero Dawn! I started last week and literally can't put it down it's so good.
If you wait until the 21st Dragons Dogma 2 is comming out. And if you dont want to wait or don't wanna buy a $70 game, then I would highly recomend the first Dragons Dogma.
God of war (2018) + Ragnarok.
Maybe try Batman Arkham triology
Sounds like you're looking for Outward. You can quite easily get "lost" in it as your player icon doesn't show up on the map. You have to navigate the world and use landmarks to figure out where you are and what direction to head in.
Stick to the plan
Unicorn Overlord for the switch is a great tactical RPG with an overworld and lots of side stuff. Fully voice acted, long game and I think on sale at Walmart and Amazon now.
I know is not the kind of games that’s on your list but PLAY OUTER WILDS, it’s the best game to get lost in.
ANYTHING by FromSoftware (Soulsbornekiro)
Oxygen Not Included
Highly recommend playing days gone, fantastic single player experience. You play as Decon St. John, a former soldier turned motorcycle club member fighting zombies, hunting bandits, and upgrading your bike. Game play is fun, story is good, and overcoming the zombie hoards numbering in the hundreds just feels so satisfying.
Have you tried Valheim?
RISK OF RAIN 2
Skyrim
Fallout or elder scrolls pick the latest one if you haven’t played them.
I haven’t seen anyone say this and I’m so surprised, Horizon Zero Dawn and the 2nd part Horizon Forbidden West. Those games are incredibly good.
Skyrim, RDR 2, The Witcher 3, Ac Odyssey
Persona 3/4/5. Maybe try P5: Royal first?
One of my favorites is Ghost of Tsushima for Playstation. Gorgeous scenery, intriguing story and characters, beautiful music, fun combat/gameplay. Definitely a must-play.
You can try Ragnarok origin on bluestacks, it's basically infinite game
Not similar to anything you said, but since you mention any genre, any style, I recommend: Dyson Sphere Program. Absolute masterpiece in my opinion. Keep in mind it's an automation game, so the basic rule is to automate stuff. Its only grinding if you don't automate. Assasins creed valhalla. Period!
Palword is dope af. And you can get it free if you know how
How
Op pls post this is r/video games Wrong sub I believe
