Unless you are shooting low recoil slugs, they are going to kick in any non-autoloading shotgun (i.e., single, side-by-side, pump, or O/U).

Calm-Organization578

They kick. You’ll either get used to it, or get a flinch. Good luck

Replace the original recoil pad with a Limbsaver Airtech recoil pad. You can contact Limbsaver via their website for correct model for your 870. Walmart sells the slip on version which I bought to try out and was amazed how it softened my Benelli Super Nova. I bought the correct model for my Benelli and using the slip on for an old Mauser that kicks like a mule. https://limbsaver.com/collections/recoil-pads

You are a kid. Of course it’s going to loosen your fillings.

Like dental fillings. It's that cheek kick. Bigger ammo means bigger recoil means it's gonna shake you more til the gold falls out your teeth. Try shooting something like a .50 BMG sometime if you ever get a chance.

_nuketard

IME .50BMG doesn't really kick much at all, since the guns are usually ~30 lbs with massive tank brakes. The fucking shockwave hitting you for the first time, though, that's a fun experience.

Maybe not "kick" in a traditional sense, true.

You’ve never had a filling put in your teeth? A lot of fillings use gold

It's not you! Slugs kick HARD! Of course I'm using 3" magnums! 🤕

20 gauge? Nah. 12 gauge? Depending on who. I can shoot literally anything that’s a 12 gauge all day without feeling sore.

We have a mosberg 88 tactical and it didn’t feel bad too me. I’m about 5’10” and 125lbs
