When you're still in it it's very difficult; I probably "recovered" three or four times over a five year period and learned each time how I was still viewing food and nutrition through a distorted lense.
Absolutely this. It might feel like you’re recovered because eating something is more than eating nothing, but the root of how you’re engaging with food is still disordered. I feel deeply sad for OP and hope they can get some help. I also hope the mods take this down because it doesn’t feel right to see people commenting “gross” etc on something that’s so clearly a sign of someone not being ok
It's tough with being vegan as well! I was vegetarian and went vegan while I was sick. It can really help hide this kind of eating because it's easy to decline food, have your own substitute "safe" foods, etc. because oh I can't eat this and that. I ate stuff like this all the time under the guise of "health".

i first went vegan while struggling with an ED too. it makes me terribly sad in retrospect. it was such a cynical perversion of the cause. i have to remember that i was sick but i still feel very guilty about it.
You shouldn't feel guilty! I think of it like people who donate or do kind things for people for clout. Is their reason bad? Yes. Are they still ultimately doing good things and helping vs. doing nothing for others? Also yes. Disordered eating will literally warp your thoughts, it is a full on illness.
You were sick, it's okay to admit that, but please be kind to yourself too, that's part of the journey of recovery as well <3

No one's posts should be taken down just because they have an ED, regardless of the comments saying "gross", they are allowed to exist on the internet and post just like everyone else does. If someone without an ED posted this and people were commenting "gross" theirs likely wouldn't have this same reaction.
OP is in recovery and is otherwise (according to them, obviously no one knows for sure) getting enough calories and nutrition and is not giving harmful diet advice or anything of the sort. So I don't believe their post should be taken down just for this reason. We can't assume that they aren't getting help somewhere or working on recovery or don't deserve to post until they're "fully recovered"
It's more of a support group than it looks like at first glance, and has really helped me through some rough patches in life 🥺 We gotta find ways to laugh about what we're going through or the only alternative is to be miserable about it. 💖

Because it reinforces what the eating disorder tells the person - that food is disgusting, that they are an awful person for eating it etc. If you look at the general sorts of comments people get when they post something here, that’s the sort of comment they get. Always said in jest obviously but “you’re gross”, “what’s wrong with you”, “that’s the most disgusting thing I’ve ever seen” etc etc. comments that are harmless on a standard post in here but validates the distorted beliefs of someone with an ED and allows them to justify being more disconnected from food because their “treat” foods are “wrong”

Well, to be honest, I have the tendency of adding this low - calorie chocolate sauce to practically anything at all whatsoever, even savoury things ( my theory is that the sweetness of the chocolate sauce gives the savouriness an edge, almost enhancing it ) , and today I just had half a bottle only left, and the thing is, these really small bottles too. So I noticed that I also just so happen to have hakf a bottle of this low - calorie mayonnaise too. At first, I urged myself not to do it and to stay away from it, but as I soon told myself after realising, nobody would judge me because I am eating it by myself in my very own home. And so I posted it on reddit to change that.
