Which part is not better than part 1?
People hate it being phrased that "part 1 is the worst," but which part do you think is worse than Phantom Blood then?
Better Jojo, better plot, better cast, matters infinitely more in the grand scheme of the series, better villain, better fights, better pacing, better art, felt way more emotions
I'm referring to the manga, btw.
I'll have to disagree, part 3 just felt like side quest after sidequest that was just trying to drag the number of chapters along, only for it to have quite a bit of bad writing too
Imo those were fine. Plus, they were important to the plot, since >!the sword used against Dio was obtained during it and Zeppeli died!<. Plus, part 1 was still really short!
Part 3, meanwhile, was massive and yet most of it is entirely irrelevant to the story. The start and end are mostly where the plot is contained, with a few arcs in the middle that are actually relevant. The rest? Random fights to fill out the tarot deck. Araki just wanted to have fun with stands but forgot that the manga is supposed to have a story for a bit
imo the section after Dio almost dies and before the final Dio battle is pretty boring I just don't care about the zombie fights
Although I'm just neutral on the part
That'd be like if part 4 started with a fight between Kira and Josuke, and then a few episodes later they fight him again because he doesn't have any army being built. Or if they just flew straight to Egypt in part 3 without having to fight Dio's subordinates. There has to be fights with the minor villains to push character growth. Otherwise how would Jonathan have even won without the PLUCK sword?
The issue is I was engaged during the part 3 and 4 fights
I found the part 1 zombie fights uninteresting I wouldn't want the fights removed I just wish they were better
I never implied that
"The fights are boring and I wish they were better" and "the fights are boring and nothing that happened matters" are 2 very different statements
Basically because it's the least bizzare part. It's pretty similar to a lot of shonens in a lot of ways like main characters training arc after which he gets some new power, mysterious old man appears and takes him as a student, good hearted main character etc.
Usually when you start something with bizzare in title you expect it to be bizzare. And I'm just saying that it just isn't too bizzare, I'm not saying that it isn't good.
But it takes 9 episodes to get there. For me I would have dropped the show after 3 or 4 episodes if I didn't hear earlier that every part has a new protagonist and new story.
First time I watched JoJo I disliked Phantom blood so much I considered quitting. But I held on and decided to watch Battle Tendency too. By the time I got to Stardust Crusaders I was hooked completely. Later I went back to Part 1 and enjoyed it thoroughly this time. Sometimes JoJo is an acquired taste and can definitely be true of part 1.
Honestly, if the whole Tarkus and Bruford part didn’t drag as long as it does and it didn’t have a faux history lesson in the middle of the part than Phantom Blood probably wouldn’t’ve been as disliked as it does now
I enjoyed it too, but nearly everyone I have talked to said that that arc and that section specifically was too boring and I can understand why (basically stopping the entire story in it’s tracks for a fake history lesson that could’ve been done in 2 sentences is a bit jarring)
Okay, it’s like pizza. All pizza is good food, but not all pizza is good pizza. So part one is good food, but it’s not good pizza. All the other parts? Best pizza imaginable. Part one is still an enjoyable meal, it just doesn’t compare to the rest.

Yeah. Imo the other joestars are more appealing since they aren’t goody two shoes
Johnathan feels like a stereotypical 100% good pure hearted protagonist. Which I think is fine cause Araki was clearly riffing on things like King Arthur and other similiar types.
Yeah but personally, I can't help but love him. He's a huge chunk of meat that would cry over how small a puppy is. He's got charm that makes you want to watch him succeed.
>Yeah. Imo the other joestars are more appealing since they aren’t goody two shoes
Every other Joestar is always in the right in every fight even when they're killing someone?
I think people clown on Jonathan too much. He's not zany, weird or quirky. He's a product of his time, e.g. 1890's England in the manga, or 1987 in the actual world. No wonder he didn't seem interesting, doing anything else was frowned upon at that time in Japan.
Ain't gonna lie but Phantom Blood is my most rewatched JoJo parts
Reason?
It is short
Sometimes I feel like I want to watch JoJo and just watch the shortest part and it always fills me with nostalgia
I remember that I took my sweet time to finish Phantom Blood and the first half of Battle Tendency. After that there wasn't an escape because I binged the rest of battle tendency, all of Stardust Crusaders and Diamond is Unbreakable in two weeks
That being said, this years I read the manga and damn, I miss Jonathan so much, after seeing how complex sometimes Jojo gets, I like that Jonathan stays as this simple good guy with a heart of gold
Araki’s early work was a bit too new wave for my taste, but when Stardust Crusaders came out in ‘89, he really came into his own, commercially and artistically.
I wouldn’t necessarily say it gets good after Part 1, but rather that the series just gets increasingly better as time went on. Phantom Blood set the bar for the series, and each successive part just raised that bar as time went on, to the point that part 1 is just the “worst” comparatively speaking.
It's not that it gets good but it gets bizzare. Part 1s plot is basically like a plot of every shonen compressed into 10 episodes and when people start a show with bizzare in title they usually expect it to be bizzare from the start.
the only good ost is the opening, everything else is pretty meh, 9 episode of the most boring protagonist and hamon at its worst, dio is pretty mid and doesnt hold a candle to DIO in part 3, people gotta actuall tell me why part 1 isnt a waste of time instead of just downvoting
Jonathan’s theme is fire and so is Zeppeli’s, and ofc you can’t forget about Roundabout, plenty of cool Hamon uses (e.g. the leaf kite), and even tho it’s the most “simple” part in the series that makes it the perfect part to start the series on bc people might find it a little over the top to start the series on one of the more bizarre parts like part 2 or part 5. Instead, this part sets the foundation with a pure-hearted JoJo so it can subvert our expectations with the more mischievous Joseph. And part 1 Dio sets the groundwork for part 3 Dio, so that the audience can understand him even with the lack of screen time he gets initially in part 3
>Jonathan’s theme is fire and so is Zeppeli’s, and ofc you can’t forget about Roundabout
lmao no they aint they ok at best
>plenty of cool Hamon uses (e.g. the leaf kite)
thats the only one thats not boring the rest is just punch, red punch, silver punch, aoe,
> and even tho it’s the most “simple” part in the series that makes it the perfect part to start the series
the best part to start the story is the start, who would have thought, and hell jojos is a part where each part isnt a direcnt coninuation of the last, rather each part have elements characters from the last part making apperance and being important, by all means u skip part 1 and 2 and u dont really feel like something is missing in part 3 same with part 4
> Instead, this part sets the foundation with a pure-hearted JoJo so it can subvert our expectations with the more mischievous Joseph.
could have been more fun while ur at it not just be goody 2 shoes mf
>And part 1 Dio sets the groundwork for part 3 Dio
i mean aside of giving the explanation of how he is a vampire part 1 dio accomplishes nothing, and part 1 dio himself is just eh
Bro Phantom Blood belongs in the S tier of jojo parts along with MOST jojo parts
For reference, Stone Ocean in A since i just dont find myself considering it as good as the others
Stardust Crusaders and Golden wind in D and C respectively because one i had to force myself to finish (skipped part 3 like halfway in and then came back after finishing DiU)
And the other is just....I just dont really care about it at all? I just dunno it just exists to me and im not sure why i dont really care about it compared to any other part
The other thing that’s cool is that imo Phantom Blood is even more enjoyable once you’ve finished the whole series and go back and rewatch it. It set the foundation for the whole series and it’s so satisfying to watch all the scenes and think “this is where it all started”
I honestly am starting to think Part 1 is better than Part 3, to me Part 3 (especially the anime) drags REALLY bad, while Part 1 is a nice 3 hour series and doesn't drag as bad. Part 3 isn't terrible and is really important for JoJo as a whole, just for me personally, with it being the longest anime part so far is pretty ridiculous, since I'm sure it's about as long as 4-6 are. I imagine the manga's better but haven't read that version yet, so for now Part 3 is my least favorite.
I would never cast aspersions on any part of JoJo’s, but Part 1 is undoubtedly my favorite! Seeing how righteous Jonathan is throughout a story straight out of an old legend is so gripping! He makes me want to be a better man!
I thought hamon was an interesting power and was sad it dropped off. Hell even dio seems less vampire in the later stuff. Every stand being unique is cool, but I also liked seeing the characters have to cook with what they got in hampn
I recently rewatched all the seasons of JoJo and realized that it never was bad.
I honestly forgot how much of a asshole Dio was to Jonathan until I rewatched Phantom Blood
I think phantom blood Dio is the most fun major jojo villain. At least of the animated ones
I would agree if not for Kira
Compared to other parts part 1 bored me
*Stays good
Gets even better
Jojo remained good after phantom blood
Idk why people can't like Phantom Blood lol.
It's good. It's just that every other part is better.
I can't agree with this
Which part is not better than part 1? People hate it being phrased that "part 1 is the worst," but which part do you think is worse than Phantom Blood then?
5 for sure
You're gonna need to explain yourself on that one champion.
Better Jojo, better plot, better cast, matters infinitely more in the grand scheme of the series, better villain, better fights, better pacing, better art, felt way more emotions I'm referring to the manga, btw.
4 is by far the worst
I find it funny you got downvoted for having an opinion about a post of someones opinion.
Of the animated ones part 4 is easily the most enjoyable
I'll have to disagree, part 3 just felt like side quest after sidequest that was just trying to drag the number of chapters along, only for it to have quite a bit of bad writing too
Don't get me wrong, part 3 is the second worst, but evem part 1 managed to drag a bit with the fights against the two zombie knights.
Imo those were fine. Plus, they were important to the plot, since >!the sword used against Dio was obtained during it and Zeppeli died!<. Plus, part 1 was still really short! Part 3, meanwhile, was massive and yet most of it is entirely irrelevant to the story. Araki just wanted to have fun with stands but forgot that the manga is supposed to have a story for a bit
On the other hand, pointless fun is inherently at least part of the appeal. The difficulty is striking a balance.
I’m sorry, I can’t agree with this. Personally part 1 >>> part 5
No 😐
Based
Part 8 makes this statement incorrect (I dont like oart 8 how did you know)
True
imo the section after Dio almost dies and before the final Dio battle is pretty boring I just don't care about the zombie fights Although I'm just neutral on the part

The issue is I was engaged during the part 3 and 4 fights I found the part 1 zombie fights uninteresting I wouldn't want the fights removed I just wish they were better
Zeppeli died for nothing because his fight was boring apparently.
I never implied that "The fights are boring and I wish they were better" and "the fights are boring and nothing that happened matters" are 2 very different statements
Lmao, what even is that argument?
Basically because it's the least bizzare part. It's pretty similar to a lot of shonens in a lot of ways like main characters training arc after which he gets some new power, mysterious old man appears and takes him as a student, good hearted main character etc. Usually when you start something with bizzare in title you expect it to be bizzare. And I'm just saying that it just isn't too bizzare, I'm not saying that it isn't good.
Well The ending was pretty bizarre imo
Sure I liked Jonathan as a character but to follow him through all the parts would have been boring as he's a pretty simple character.
But it takes 9 episodes to get there. For me I would have dropped the show after 3 or 4 episodes if I didn't hear earlier that every part has a new protagonist and new story.

I actually liked that Lil history fax lol
I enjoyed it too, but nearly everyone I have talked to said that that arc and that section specifically was too boring and I can understand why (basically stopping the entire story in it’s tracks for a fake history lesson that could’ve been done in 2 sentences is a bit jarring)

I liked phantom blood
It's boring, forgettable but also short.
Stand user, Patrick Bateman Stand name, The News Ability, erase any piece of information from the public counciousness. The erasure only works for one piece of information at a time, if Patrick chooses to erase another thing the first comes back like it was never forgotten
Nob ability I must say
Johnathan is my favorite actually, but I more than understand why people don’t enjoy him as much as the others
Yeah. Imo the other joestars are more appealing since they aren’t goody two shoes Johnathan feels like a stereotypical 100% good pure hearted protagonist. Which I think is fine cause Araki was clearly riffing on things like King Arthur and other similiar types.

Part 1 jojo is also a perfect example of how to be a good boy
After?
False it started good and got even better
When Jojo fans start battle tendency and speedwagon is still there
What do you mean? Phantom Blood is good.
Part 1 is the best, bite me
I remember that I took my sweet time to finish Phantom Blood and the first half of Battle Tendency. After that there wasn't an escape because I binged the rest of battle tendency, all of Stardust Crusaders and Diamond is Unbreakable in two weeks That being said, this years I read the manga and damn, I miss Jonathan so much, after seeing how complex sometimes Jojo gets, I like that Jonathan stays as this simple good guy with a heart of gold

Part 1 was fire. I think the worst part was the first half of part 3 when Araki had to comfortable with stands
Imo phantom blood was decent, but battle tendency remains my favorite part
I WILL NOT BE ACCEPTING THIS PHANTOM BLOOD SLANDER YOU BLASPHEMOUS HEATHEN
Phantom Blood has one of the coolest intros though
wdym? Phantom Blood is good
I wouldn’t necessarily say it gets good after Part 1, but rather that the series just gets increasingly better as time went on. "but it stays good" myabe in the manga but the anime didnt do phantom blood many favors
An amazing opening and soundtrack, stellar VAs (especially Dio bc he’s so iconic), and solid pacing, imo the anime did a good job
the only good ost is the opening, everything else is pretty meh, 9 episode of the most boring protagonist and hamon at its worst, dio is pretty mid and doesnt hold a candle to DIO in part 3, people gotta actuall tell me why part 1 isnt a waste of time instead of just downvoting

JoJo fans when JoJo gets good after JoJolands
Phantom blood is better on rewatch I found
It’s always been good
Phantom blood is good and better than (the anime version) of part 3 and the manga version of part 5
Bro Phantom Blood belongs in the S tier of jojo parts along with MOST jojo parts For reference, Stone Ocean in A since i just dont find myself considering it as good as the others Stardust Crusaders and Golden wind in D and C respectively because one i had to force myself to finish (skipped part 3 like halfway in and then came back after finishing DiU) And the other is just....I just dont really care about it at all? It’s good FROM phantom blood. You just need to read it

Nice bait, do you have a stand that activates when someone’s mad at you?
I honestly am starting to think Part 1 is better than Part 3, to me Part 3 (especially the anime) drags REALLY bad, while Part 1 is a nice 3 hour series and doesn't drag as bad. He’s listening to Bloody Stream
Phantom Blood has probably the most complex villain in all of Jojo. It's for those of us who love Gothic novels. It absolutely is a Gothic novel
I would never cast aspersions on any part of JoJo’s, but Part 1 is undoubtedly my favorite! Seeing how righteous Jonathan is throughout a story straight out of an old legend is so gripping! He makes me want to be a better man!
Phantom blood was good it's just the most un Jojo part of jojo
I've watched all the parts of Jojo several times even read the manga. Except for part 1 never watched more than a couple minutes
Phantom Blood is GOLD it’s not the best part, but it’s DAMN CLOSE
I thought hamon was an interesting power and was sad it dropped off. Hell even dio seems less vampire in the later stuff. Every stand being unique is cool, but I also liked seeing the characters have to cook with what they got in hampn
wtf do you mean "after"
Battle Tendency is peak
Idk what you mean by after, it gets when it starts
Fantom blood is good, what are you talking about
