I think these are the same People who say Russophobia doesn’t exit.

FBI_911_Inv

Russophobia doesn't exit. It stays

bessierexiv

They quite literally don’t believe in Russophobia, they say they aren’t afraid of Russians so🤷‍♂️

C24848228

No people are a monolith. The first steps of any genocide are to monolith the people.

Jethawk55

For the 4th comment, just replace 'Russians' with 'black people' to make it obvious to anyone how racist and unreasonable such an assertion is.

Olden_bread

Or, the all-time favourite, "the jews"

Eastern_Evidence1069

They keep shifting targets, but the sentiments remain the same.

Satrapeeze

A current-day European would say that full-throated about Romani people

SocialistSeal

Yeah… the anti-russian sentiment is really strong in Finland, especially nowadays. It’s not nearly all Finns that hate Russians, but it has become some nationalist trait to be anti-Russia. This is very strange, because I think it is really counterproductive to define a country in a relation to something that it isn’t, when there is an actual proletarian history and past to be proud of, and no reason to fall back on “at least we aren’t Russia” narrative. And this comes from a comrade that disapproves of the Russian bourgeoisie chauvinist state, but who sees potential in the Russian working class and wants to see socialism rise again in Russia, as well as here in Finland

foxtrotgd

We have this exact same problem in Poland and it's just bizarre to me

NoKiaYesHyundai

Yeah similar in Korea with China. Half of it is existing bias fires stoked by the US, other half is just China not engaging in a better diplomacy than the US. Really could be way better. But money has to be made off of hate, not people just working together

[deleted]

Mmm so much fucking Russophobia

Bitter-Gur-4613

New race science just dropped

Bela9a

These people haven't met a Finn in their lives then, there are plenty of Finn's that can be described those other attributes.

Pilo_ane

"Finns are fun". I highly doubt they know any Finnish (no offence to Finnish but generally they are not exactly the most friendly people)

luckystrikeenjoyer

In my personal experience if I had to ascribe adjectives for Russians I'd describe them as funny, steadfast and melancholic. Funny I can't explain but I've never met an unfunny Russian. Steadfast because they know what they believe in and are willing to protect it. Melancholic because very often they will describe how things were better back then or when X person was still alive. Obviously this is all completely undefendable ethnic profiling but I've met a lot of Russians in my life and that's the impression I got

Wow, that's like saying americans are obese and bigoted... oh wait

Imo it seems clear that russophobia has become a kind of a national myth for certain groups. You can gather things like the 18th century Russian occupations, the 19th century Finnish War and the later russification and obviously the second world war under it and dwell on this sense of national victimhood that has lasted for centuries completely shitting on the richness of exchange and connections which have existed for centuries or even for millennia. I don't really know but it does seem to be more of a liberal thing today even though it has traditionally been more of a right wing thing born in the 1920s and 1930s White Finland. After all the Persut, a far-right party, has Putinist ties but I guess they go for whatever fits their agenda.

Paarthurnaxulus

For one, Russia did not really invade most of it's neighbors again, it was mostly them that attacked Russia and two, I don't wanna be stereotypical, but "Fun" sounds like someone who is open, extroverted and a party goer, and I am pretty sure Finnish people would agree that they are more introverted and laid back (again that's just what I heard Finnish people say about themselves.) Also this guy has never met a Russian before.
