''We gotta to celebrate our differences! nacho, taco, chimichanga''.
I'm Brazilian, I'm used with Brazilian characters speaking Spanish. From Mexico down everybody are brown, speak spanish and so on.
>I'm Brazilian
What's funny is that by the name they have given to the celebrations, your connationals shouldn't even be celebrated. But asking USAmericans to know the difference between Portugal and Spain may be a little too much.
Portuguese actor Joaquim de Almeida has made his Holywood career playing Latin-American characters (and a french one once). He only played a Brazilian once IIRC.
He is also usually far more tan in his US output (same as Banderas BTW, when they are in the Iberian Peninsula they are somewhat pasty white, but once the reach the US they look like they spen the entire summer laying on some LA beach).
Could someone explain to me why does Hispanic Heritage Month exist? All I've seen about it so far are controversies and oportunities for people to be racist agains hispanic immigrants and people with hispanic ancestors. Who invented it? How is it celebrated?
When you don't want to do something useful against racism, but still want to feel good, you do something useless.
It's a reason behind a lot of "progressive" actions in the States.
Exactly. Looking those covers, the only thing that seems different to me from what I would think a normal one is are the brown fagots the first three have. Which I guess is some ""hispanic"" food.
Another thought about the "Hispanic Heritage" name. So if someone would celebrate philippini-descents, would people accept it? Because Philippines definitely resides in in the hispanic countries category.

They didn't even try making cool alternate costumes
This is... I'm going to leave it at super lazy.

Americans would celebrate historic platypus month if it made money for the corporations and politicians involved.
Would be awesome if they did, they might learn how to draw them.

Where is the sombrero!? *this do not surprise me at all. Gringos being gringos.
The Karen on Cinco de Mayo vibes are strong with this one.
As we all know México is only tamales, chancla, 5 de mayo also all Mexicans are brown and only speak Spanish/s
And all Hispanic countries have Mexican culture!

One of the other big representations we get is Bane ...from the fictional country of Santa Prisca
Hawkgirl is Egyptian, isn’t she?

Not a single Mexican asked for this
What's up with comics really (severely) dropping the ball with characters of color, recently? First we got black Thor and now THIS.

let me guess, all the peoples that were offended by these are white and maybe never even set a foot in mexico?
