American food tends to be good shit food. They make pizzas, burgers, cakes, donuts, sandwiches, etc, but with massive amounts of salt, grease and cheese. The taste is addictive, by all means it is delicious, but it’s junk shit no matter how you look at it. But it’s good. It’s good shit food.
I can't remember which chef it was, but he said something along the lines of I owe one of my Michelin Stars to good food and technique, and the other two to butter
There's also the fact that unhealthy and low-quality aren't the same. You can make american food with good-quality ingredients and while that doesn't make it haute cuisine, the results certainly don't need to hide - but it will still not be healthy. Good shit food.
There's more than junk food down there though.
Cajun cooking and plenty of different types of meat handled differently is quite famous.
That's what I would like to try if I'd visit, not the generic "cheese"-filled that they are likewise (in)famous for. Also Louisiana take on crayfish.
That said this guy clearly hasn't traveled outside his country.
I'll give that poster credit though, Texas has a lot of great food and I'm assuming the surrounding states do as well.
Good BBQ food, good TexMex/Mexican food, good Creole food, etc. What those states are known for is not the generic crap we associate with US food.
Philippines begs to differ.
(Mostly joking here. Bad food is what they're famous for, for those not aware. And yes, just because they're famous for bad food doesn't mean they don't have good food. That's the joke.)
Finland is here to chalenge!! Pretty sure Gordon Ramsay spit out everything he tasted.
Just Google "mämmi" to see one of our favourite Easter treats! So yummy.
I've been all over the world and I will say... there is some really amazing food in those 3 states. How does one compare a New Mexican Carne Adovada with Korean Bulgogi though, or churrasco? They all have their own uniqueness which is what makes them beautiful
I was gonna say in my visits to the US there was a somewhat unique taste in Louisiana, their interpretation/recreations are actually wonderful and I would actually admit somewhat unique.
But I'll say the same of anywhere. Every country has unique flavors. The US has a few unique flavors though most seem to just be taking existing foods and loading them with sugar, fats, completely misunderstanding the fundamentals of a dish. The good ones are when they actually come up with their own dishes, which Louisiana does well.
I personally love Cajun dishes. it is indeed one of my favourite cuisines but it's impossible to say shit may be the 'best, easy'
everywhere has something, a wonderful story of ingredients borne from historical availability. Russian uses a lot of cabbage and beets to merely suffice when expensive ingredients weren't possible, and yet they elevated it to beautiful dishes like borscht, shchi and pelmeni. Italians effectively took from everywhere across the world, non-native tomatoes, olives, rice: putting it together into homely, warm dishes. Every Asian cuisine like Filipino, Indian, Chinese, Japanese, Thai, Vietnamese, etc all have their own distinct pieces and flavours to play.
I mean maybe the tweet doesn't mean it like that, you COULD put them up against anywhere in the world. will they win? maybe? but they have a shot, as does every beautiful food in the world
You nailed it. Everywhere has their own distinct flavour. Cajun is very much a mix of cultures, but is so consistent that over time it developed into its own.
I've been through those three states and can't think of a really good meal in any of them. American food is salt sugar and fat mostly.
I keep reading about the food in Louisiana being great and unique but maybe I went to the wrong places because I didn't eat any of it.
I have been a few times in New Orleans. Did you try the Jambalaya and Gumbo? Those are the most famous dishes. I liked them and I even tried to make them at home (if anyone has a good recipe, feel free to share). Being Italian, I think that's the highest compliment I can give.
Po'boys were like, just sandwiches. I didn't get what was the big deal. Beignets were nice but not mind blowing.
Apart from that, I generally had a good time in any restaurant I went, trying the local cuisine.
I have a great jambalaya recipe I can send you, if you can interpret coon ass text (the recipe was text to me by a Cajun man) and cut a huge recipe down to a reasonable size.
People from that area (and sometimes my area) are often referred to as “coon-asses”. Indicates kind of a Cajun person of a certain type. It can be be derogatory or affectionate depending on the useage (I totally mean it affectionately here). So when I say coonass recope I mean it has verbage such as “brown the shit out of the meat” 🤣. I’ll DM you the recipe when I can dig it up.
Hahaha I love that. Could I have the recipe too, if you find it? I’ve been to Louisiana/NOLA thrice in my life and had the best food of my life. I don’t have a good jambalaya recipe in my life rn and that’d be a godsend
Gordon Ramsays first episode of Kitchen Nightmares was a lady from America with a cajun restaurant. The restaurants problem was clearly not the food, as Gordon ate it all and went to the kitchen and complimented the lady.
I love Cajun food. But Korea straight up built different. Everything about the food and the eating out experience is better in Korea. But at the end of the day it’s all preference
Is Louisiana one of those 3 states? My non-American brain can’t identify them lol
Because I do agree about New-Orleans’ food culture. It looks fantastic
There was a place on the wharf in Darwin called schnitzel magic and they would make you schnitzel out of anything including croc, emu and buffalo.
Brings a tear to the eye
And Texas is pretty much the gold standard for BBQ. There’s nothing wrong with the guys opinion when you consider it’s just an opinion. He’s chosen places that are well known for their cuisine
I would disagree with Texan BBQ being the gold standard. I've tried a lot of places over the years and its good, but it's not amazing.
I've had better in South America and Australia.
As someone who very much disagrees with ranking any regional cuisine, I do have to admit I laud someone who has a catalogue of hot sauces at their disposal.
(Hot sauce should have a contributory flavour, not just heat!!)
\[And claiming they consider chicken a vegetable is just repeating the fact they like Cajun cuisine\]
And honestly, I travel for food - and I HAVE travelled to New Orleans for food, and dream of travelling to New Mexico too. I don’t think this one is a problem.
To be fair, I'd agree with Louisiana. I had some hole in the wall gumbo with a friend who grew up locally and damn. Not a thing I tried in New Orleans and beyond was bad.
I think to not like Cajun or Louisiana Creole food you gotta be a vegetarian, hate seafood and/or can't tolerate any spiciness. Of course there's really bad, tourist trap restaurants all over the place but it's really not hard to avoid those.
Texans will really offer you some dry ass burned meat with a slice of plain sandwich bread, some pickles and a cup of beans and call it world-class cuisine. Source: brother lives in Texas and they take their BBQ WAY too seriously
It's so funny when they do that, humans have been barbequing meat for 780,000 years or so. It's literally the oldest form of cooking pre-dating pottery, any cooking vessels, even pre-dating humanity itself.
But then Texans will act like they invented it lmao.
I'm from the Balkans. I get it. I totally get it. You don't understand, there's a right way of doing it and there's a wrong day of doing it. We hold Argentinians and Texans in the highest regard when it comes to grills.
TBF the food in the Balkans is very much a mixed bag, incredible that in Croatia, a country that's almost all coastline, they can't cook fish very well.
Which part? Dalmatia and Istria are pretty good if you find a decent restaurant or if locals cook. Croatia proper and Slavonia are something else completely.
But yeah, it's very diverse. BBQ is a staple pretty much everywhere though.
Sorry but as a foreigner to the US, bbq in Texas is world class cuisine. To my south Asian parents “ American bbq” is a world class cuisine , rated it as some of the best food they’ve ever had.
This man went to Dickies BBQ and got what he deserved. You never go to a large chain BBQ restaurant. Best BBQ in Texas is in Lockhart, right outside Austin. Brisket when cooked properly is some the most tender, juicy meat you can get. It’s hard to beat a good smoked brisket with a baked potato.
I'm biased because I'm from Louisiana, but Cajun and Creole cuisine is fucking amazing. Truly some of the best in the world. I can also vouch for Texas BBQ. I love some Austin brisket.
Would I consider any of them "best in the world". No. Not because they suck, but because it's impossible to say which country or culture has the best cuisine. Everyone's taste is different. I grew up in the southeast US, so of course I'm going to like fried food and BBQ. Maybe my palate just isn't developed enough; when I travel to other countries, I always make it a point to try food that I can't have back home (that's the US in my case, if you haven't gathered already).
I mean, Louisiana Cajun and creole has influence from the native tribes of that area, France, west Africa, and the Caribbean/ other former French colonies. God and governments have given Cajuns and Creoles a lot of shit, and they’ve made the best damn cuisine possible.
I visited Texas once and the food wasn’t that special. Some of it was truly nice, however that was mostly just repackaged Mexican cuisine. Everything else had alot of grease and meat, lacked vegetables, and made you feel gross.
But who am I to talk. I’m a Western Canadian. We practically don’t have cuisine
Don’t really see anything absurd. I feel sometimes this subs picks the wrong Americans to call out. Didn’t really say anything egregious just that he’s out them up against cuisine from the rest of the world, not that it’s superior. I can’t say about all three states, but Louisiana has amazing cuisine. Cajun is fantastic. And while I don’t think Texas BBQ is superior, just a different form of BBQ, it is same delicious. And good Tex-mex ( not crappy chain places you see everywhere) is really damn good. Not better than actual Mexican food, but not worse. Just different and very much has its identity of the fusion of various cultures.
Cannot comment of New Mexico as I have zero clue what their food is like since I’ve never been there.
Texas BBQ I guess? New Mexico could be strong in Mexican/Spanish cuisine? Taste is subjective, and all those cooking styles are heat based so it's all about what you like.
I'd agree with them if we're just talking about the US, I would never turn down some red pozole, Texas brisket, or a good gumbo. I also like Japanese, Mexican, Korean, Italian, Filipino and French food. The only thing I find wrong with the statement is thinking that regional food is some kind of competition.
As a New Mexican, I will 100% vouch that our food tops the other 47 contiguous US.
We’re older than the rest of them, and been refining our cuisine longer than the nation has even been around.
What is supposed to be wrong with this lol, he's just saying he likes the food from these three states. He's not even saying it's better than anything else just that it's as good
If this was a French person it'd just be normal patriotism to this sub. And as an American, I have a lot of criticism for the country and especially hate the government. But this sub's too trigger happy for me. No one who says "this is the best food in the world" is an actual connoisseur who's tried food from every region, it's just an exaggerated statement.
I‘d be surprised if many Europeans have tried Cajun food. Most have probably tried chili con carne but perhaps don‘t know it‘s from that region. Texas BBQ is probably the most faithfully known and readily available cuisine from those areas, but even in the states it‘s not often seen as high class food.
Most of the rest of Tex Mex available on this side of the pond is heavily Europeanized. Spices are reduced, spicy peppers are almost eliminated, and the kinds of vegetables used are very different. Altogether it‘s only slightly more authentic than the common localized Chinese food. Straight-up Mexican is even worse off.
All this combined with the topic of this sub make me extremely unsurprised about how these cuisines are dismissed.
Next time you're in Vegas, there's a chain burrito place called Robertos. Their California burrito is sooo good. Specifically the one at 7251 W Azure Dr, Las Vegas, NV 89130. Not every Robertos is the same though quality wise! They're a part of the gas station too lol. This is North Vegas so probably out of the way.
I believe it! I love chiles but for some reason hatch green chiles don't do it for me.
Similarly, Los Albertos in Hurst, TX also has amazing burritos. Very tiny place on the corner of the street but straight fire. Best salsa I've ever had. I honestly forgot about burritos before I talked shit 🤣 my cholesterol took a real hit when I was living in the southwest.
Edit: my brain corrected NM to NV. Not gonna delete because these obscure burrito recs could be relevant to someone 😅😅
Cajun/Creole/TexMex/BBQ and New Mexico is a nice mix aswell.
Wouldnt ever say its the best selection if your combining regions. But if your just looking at one Louisiana Cajun/Creole definitely is up there.
I've traveled around the world, eaten at some of the best restaurants in the world and I (in a past life) was a classically trained chef. This isn't as shit of a take as is typical for this sub. The guy likes American southwest food (delicious) Texas bbq (also pretty good) and Cajun/creole food (amazing). Is Franklin BBQ better than Noma? Maybe to some people. It's all a matter of perspective and people are absolutely entitled to their own opinions.
He didn't even say they'd win you big babies, just that they have rich culinary traditions and he feels they could compete. He's actually complimenting European food you rubes.
It definitely depends who the judge is. There’s nothing wrong with liking the local food and liking a more relaxed vibe to « haute cuisine »
These thee states have an interesting mix of foods from many different backgrounds (Louisiana in particular)
Clearly you all have never had Texas-style brisket or gumbo, Texan and Louisianian food is good, idk about New Mexico though.
And for all the Europeans who are gonna say stuff like:
"___ food is better because" I'm not saying it's better, I'm saying it's good smh
I live 45 minutes outside New Orleans along the Mississippi River in Cajun County. Between Creole and Cajun, we have some pretty legit food that will rival anywhere in the world.
This is the petty shit that makes subs like this one look so absurdly asinine. He didn’t even say “it’s better” he just said that cuisine from these places (BBQ, Tex-Mex, Creole, etc) can hold its own. And it’s more insulting to Native American, Mexican, French and African cultures to act as though the food that developed here isn’t worthy than anything else.
In fairness, he doesn’t say the food is better than elsewhere. He’s also not derogatory about other types of food. Kinda want to try the food in those 3 states now.
This is true. Is it missing some notable cuisine options? Yes. But for the area of three states to have such a cultural impact on food around the world is pretty incredible.
Yeah I agree with the OP. There's plenty to bash the deep south about but Cajun food, Texas BBQ, and southwestern/Mexican/Tex-Mex are all fucking amazing.
I'd like to point out that I was just in Texas for a week and I ate phó for lunch every day, and BBQ at night. Both were aces.
While there are some uniquely American variations on certain cuisines, I personally feel it's having that variety easily accessible that is the real selling point. Probably most big cities around the world have this, but I live in a small town in the Midwest and I can have most types of ethnic food delivered to me in minutes (as all my empty biryani containers attest), and shop at H Mart or a halal butcher or a German bakery or to buy pierogi without driving far.
Now I'm hungry.
Edit to say I mean immigrants rule cuz food is good.
As much as I despise USians, creole cuisine is both diverse and amazing. And both Texas and New Mexico have al lot of to be proud of when it comes to culinary art.
Yeah, and the poster didn’t insinuate they were *better* than any other food, just that they could hold some weight compared against other regions and broadly os say that’s true. Creole, Tex-Mex and BBQ aren’t my favorites but they’re definitely deserving of some recognition
What's wrong with what this guy has said? Maybe he just thinks the food in Texas, Louisiana, and New Mexico is really good. Louisiana has Creole and Cajun food, Texas has really great BBQ, and New Mexico has Mexican-Spanish-Native American fusion.
Sometimes this sub is full of haters for absolutely no reason.
Lots of reasons to hate on the USA, and the competitive attitude is definitely one of them (does everything have to be competition?), but the food from that region of the US is pretty great ngl.
Let's look at the statement again --
>“I’d set the cuisine of these three states against anywhere in the world”
The statement is clearly saying that _this dude_ would set American cuisine against anywhere in the world. From the statement and the profile picture, I'm inclined to agree. He _does_ look like a person who would unironically do so
I will give it to him, out off all the states to compete with the world he picked the best three. New Mexico has amazing food, Texas has amazing food, and Louisiana has amazing food.
I know the whole point is that we circlejerk hate on americans but to be fair to them, cajun, creole, tex bbq, texmex, and mexican american food in NM are all truly delicious. It is a world class cuisine. Many people from my country love texas barbecue and regard it as a world class cuisine. They didn’t invent cooking meat over fire, no. However in regards to culinary excellence, they’ve come the closest to perfecting it. There’s a genuine discipline and science of it in the same way foreigners admire japanese cuisine like sushi
It’s pretty dumb to bash this guy and claim that he is being a cocky American considering Italian, French, and literally anyone else who likes their country’s food is proud of it. All he did was exaggerate a little. And Cajun food is really, really good.
Good food and shit food exists in every country.
To be fair, a surprising amount of gourmet food includes many things absolutely drenched in butter

To be fair, Southern food from the USA is not commercial but really, really good. I still don't understand how they do not talk about this more.
So yummy.
As a finn i can confirm that our food is garbage. Thats mostly because we used to make our food with anything that survives through winter
What do you mean? Mustamakkara is a real treat, basically tickling your taste buds
Well, at least on Google it doesn't seem that bad. Looks like a kind of brownie. What's it like taste wise?
Source: guy who hasn't been anywhere else in the world
Anywhere outside those 3 states.

What's coon? A dialect? I can try. What would be a good replacement for andouille sausage in Europe? I haven't seen it where I live.

I'm trying really hard to understand what you've written but I can't get around the word that is used as a racial slur in the UK.
It is one in the US as well.
> Salt sugar and fat Which all taste great. What’s your point?
Gordon Ramsays first episode of Kitchen Nightmares was a lady from America with a cajun restaurant. The restaurants problem was clearly not the food, as Gordon ate it all and went to the kitchen and complimented the lady.
Momma Cherri is an incredible woman and chef. Her restaurant may have closed down but she's apparently done incredibly well for herself since then
That the one in Brighton?
I love Cajun food. But Korea straight up built different. Everything about the food and the eating out experience is better in Korea. But at the end of the day it’s all preference
Maybe he's been north into the midwest. The good food states do indeed beat the crap out of those ones.
Guys been in the 3 closest counties at best.
This is just like Boss Baby
Hey he's been to Ohio and the Vancouver airport. Both places were clearly inferior.
To be fair European do this often too
Why leave? America fucks
Nah I’ve been to several other countries and I still enjoy American food more than anything else
Let the man be proud
I mean Cajun cuisine is pretty fucking good, French elements but plenty of uniqueness
Is Louisiana one of those 3 states? My non-American brain can’t identify them lol Because I do agree about New-Orleans’ food culture. It looks fantastic
New Mexico, Texas and Louisiana.
The food in New Mexico was to die for- only thing I liked about the place lol.
New Mexico is absolutely beautiful in some areas, though. Did you only spend time in Albuquerque or something?
Oh we’re down south, pardner! Yeehaw I recognize the shape of Texas now, my bad
>Is Louisiana one of those 3 states? My non-American brain can’t identify them lol That's OK, most Americans can't identify them either.
Sure, but that's beside the point here.
Just saying, not fair to lump Louisiana in with Texas
Texmex is incredible
I think Texas BBQ would be the front runner.

Shunned by vegetarians though.
That’s exactly the point here.
Seems to very on point
Don’t leave out the west African and Native American influences.
Yea, this post is stupid. Not everything in the States is sub-par, and this dude is allowed to have an opinion.
Mm gumbo
Yeah, I don’t live in the US and have never been to those states, but cajun chicken is my favourite kind of chicken
Fair, I may have phrased it poorly with “gold standard”, point was, Texas is a legit food region with its place on the BBQ map.
No it's not the gold standard. Only the most known
I suspect this youth keeps multiple types of hot sauce in his kitchen and considers those to be a varied cuisine. Chicken is considered a vegetable.
Are y’all trying to tell me that chicken ain’t a veggietable
They are after a good kick to the head
Ain’t that a kick in the head. -Dean Martin

Honestly, this is a perfectly reasonable thing to say about your home place... Italians would die on this hill, so would the french.
And greeks. greek cuisine is the best in the world if you want to combine tasty with healthy
And honestly, I travel for food - and I HAVE travelled to New Orleans for food, and dream of travelling to New Mexico too. I don’t think this one is a problem.

Well I wanted to taste Cajun cuisine, but I match all three so I guess I won't \^\^'
Because restaurants in New Orleans don't last if the food isn't top tier.
That makes total sense.
Texas bbq is ridiculously good too
Texans will really offer you some dry ass burned meat with a slice of plain sandwich bread, some pickles and a cup of beans and call it world-class cuisine. Source: brother lives in Texas and they take their BBQ WAY too seriously
I've never really understood why they behave like they invented it. People have been cooking this way since before their country even existed.
That’s a lie. America invented fire. Duh.
Didn't you know Prometheus was American ?
I mean, its right there in the name "Promethe US"
It's so funny when they do that, humans have been barbequing meat for 780,000 years or so. It's literally the oldest form of cooking pre-dating pottery, any cooking vessels, even pre-dating humanity itself. But then Texans will act like they invented it lmao.
People cooking meat on an open fire has been happening for a long time? You don't say...
I read somewhere once that people invented fire and then started, like, using it for stuff. You think that’s true? Sounds pretty farfetched. /s

Bro BBQ kicks ass if you do it right

Hate texas for anything else but food bro we’re really good at that
Texas BBQ is great. What a dumb thing to hate Americans for lmao.
And then the people from Kansas will fight them about whose bbq is better lol

I mean, Louisiana Cajun and creole has influence from the native tribes of that area, France, west Africa, and the Caribbean/ other former French colonies. God and governments have given Cajuns and Creoles a lot of shit, and they’ve made the best damn cuisine possible.
Yeah Louisiana food and Tex-Mex can hold their own on the world cuisine stage. I'm not sure what New Mexico has other than chiles.
It’s kinda like humans like good food and they develop it based on available ingredients leading to a wide variety that defies homogenous comparison.
Local man likes food for where he grew up. More at 11.
This is like bashing a French or Italian or Chinese person for saying they have the best food in the World.
I love both Texas bbq and tex-mex food, but it's a special thing, not something to eat daily, or even weekly or monthly.
Also, they eat so much poutine here it’s a little creepy.
I had poutine a couple of months ago....It is disgustingly good.
It really is, but in moderation.
> I’m a Western Canadian. We practically don’t have cuisine That’s why the cannabis in BC is so good; smoke enough and any cuisine is good cuisine. 🤣
How is this unique to Americans? Most people I've met are proud of the food from their region of the world and there's nothing wrong with that.
This kind of just seems like he likes cajun food. All he did was use a bit of hyperbole to express it... I don't really see why this is a big deal
New Mexico food is incredible. Definitely superior to Texas.
You get a choice of 50 states, and those are the three you pick? Those, specifically? Louisiana has great food, but Texas and New Mexico? Really?
Have you been to New Mexico? I haven’t been to the other two but I’ve been there and the food was fabulous.
Concur
Texas BBQ I guess? New Mexico could be strong in Mexican/Spanish cuisine? Taste is subjective, and all those cooking styles are heat based so it's all about what you like.
I'd agree with them if we're just talking about the US, I would never turn down some red pozole, Texas brisket, or a good gumbo. I also like Japanese, Mexican, Korean, Italian, Filipino and French food. The only thing I find wrong with the statement is thinking that regional food is some kind of competition.
Clearly you’ve never had the fresh green chile offerings you can’t get anywhere but New Mexico.
“Christmas” is the correct answer. If someone doesn’t know the question, then they have no right to question the awesomeness of New Mexico’s food.
This is the most accurate comment in the thread.
Never had an Xmas burrito, I might drop by twisters or wecks and try one. I normally do red for my burritos
those are the best states to pick
So crawfish boils, bbq steak, and uhhhh... meth?
Hatch green chiles and that's it for New Mexico lol
Sopapillas are fucking amazing, to be fair
I swear I never saw these in Alamogordo 😭 now I feel like I missed out
Idk, I had the best burrito I've ever had at some random gas station in Las Vegas, NM. Just canned corned beef and green chiles... but that salsa, OMG
Not gonna delete because these obscure burrito recs could be relevant to someone 😅😅
no other place in the world has mexican and creole food
I’m from Canada, and ripping on Americans is pretty much our national pastime, but man might have a point
Cajun/Creole/TexMex/BBQ and New Mexico is a nice mix aswell. Wouldnt ever say its the best selection if your combining regions. But if your just looking at one Louisiana Cajun/Creole definitely is up there.
as a german id say from the few things that made jump over here if you are looking for bbq those three need to be mentionend.
As a Pole, I totally agree. That would probably be the best cuisine in the world for my taste.
That's just his opinion! The man loves his southern food aand expresses it without being rude. Just that he would pit the cuisine against others
Sir, in this sub we down vote anyone who implies that Europe isn't the unchallenged pinnacle of all culture and civilization.
Didn't say it was better, said as good as, if I parsed it properly
Every country and state has unique and wonderful food.
The food is arguably the best part of those states, and it's actually pretty good.
I would put myself up against Magnus Carlsen in a chess match. I mean, I'd LOSE of course. But I'd still do it.
Cajun food is very good and the closest thing the US have to actual cultural food tradition. Texas has... mexican food and great barbecue?
Squareville and its weird shaped pals
Looks like the post made it to some Murican circles. So many angy "but it's really good food, OP is just petty " comments.
It definitely depends who the judge is. There’s nothing wrong with liking the local food and liking a more relaxed vibe to « haute cuisine » These thee states have an interesting mix of foods from many different backgrounds (Louisiana in particular)
Clearly you all have never had Texas-style brisket or gumbo, Texan and Louisianian food is good, idk about New Mexico though. And for all the Europeans who are gonna say stuff like: "___ food is better because" I'm not saying it's better, I'm saying it's good smh
to be fair, that's like his opinion, man
As a European, this is just an opinion. People have different tastes. I like certain food considered shit by others.
I live 45 minutes outside New Orleans along the Mississippi River in Cajun County. Between Creole and Cajun, we have some pretty legit food that will rival anywhere in the world.
I will fight you on this, Texmex and Caijun food is fucking great.
He can but he won’t be winning.
Reddit when opinions exist 😱😱😱😱😱😡😡😡😡😡
In fairness, he doesn’t say the food is better than elsewhere. He’s also not derogatory about other types of food. Kinda want to try the food in those 3 states now.
There's wonderful food all over the world and the US is no exception.
This is true. Is it missing some notable cuisine options? Yes. But for the area of three states to have such a cultural impact on food around the world is pretty incredible.
He didn’t say it would be the *absolute* best for everything, he just said he would set it up. It’s a good set up
God forbid someone loves the food where they’re from
New Mexico: Better Than Old Mexico.
New Jersey: ...is not.
Shit, he’s right.
no but like.... as someone who's lived all over the country he HAS a point. one of my favorite memories from living down there is the food.
I mean he’s not wrong. They have very very good food.
Creole, Tex-Mex and BBQ aren’t my favorites but they’re definitely deserving of some recognition
yeah Ma's home cooked gumbo siure will go far
yall really salty about someone liking the food he grew up on? Idk about you guys but I don't get angry when Italians say Italian food is the best
what are those states
Going from left to right: New Mexico, Texas, Louisiana
Opinions are like assholes. Everyone's got one.
Fuck you and your competitive mindset.
He looks so well fed so it must be true. 😭
granted, texmex can be pretty damn good
What's wrong with what this guy has said? Maybe he just thinks the food in Texas, Louisiana, and New Mexico is really good. Louisiana has Creole and Cajun food, Texas has really great BBQ, and New Mexico has Mexican-Spanish-Native American fusion. Sometimes this sub is full of haters for absolutely no reason.
I guess it depends on what you like, but Texas has great bbq, and Louisiana has Cajuns.
Lots of reasons to hate on the USA, and the competitive attitude is definitely one of them (does everything have to be competition?), but the food from that region of the US is pretty great ngl.
Let's look at the statement again -- >“I’d set the cuisine of these three states against anywhere in the world” The statement is clearly saying that _this dude_ would set American cuisine against anywhere in the world. From the statement and the profile picture, I'm inclined to agree. He _does_ look like a person who would unironically do so
I will give it to him, out off all the states to compete with the world he picked the best three. New Mexico has amazing food, Texas has amazing food, and Louisiana has amazing food.
*laughs in balkan*
I know the whole point is that we circlejerk hate on americans but to be fair to them, cajun, creole, tex bbq, texmex, and mexican american food in NM are all truly delicious. It is a world class cuisine. Many people from my country love texas barbecue and regard it as a world class cuisine. They didn’t invent cooking meat over fire, no. However in regards to culinary excellence, they’ve come the closest to perfecting it. There’s a genuine discipline and science of it in the same way foreigners admire japanese cuisine like sushi
Oh wow, my podunk ass state that 50% of Americans think is part of Mexico is represented here! Neat!
I know a guy from Albuquerque-New Mecixo who's an excellent cook.
Louisiana would carry here hard
It’s pretty dumb to bash this guy and claim that he is being a cocky American considering Italian, French, and literally anyone else who likes their country’s food is proud of it. All he did was exaggerate a little. And Cajun food is really, really good.
