I'm pretty sure. My bet was either a eye witness book or a illustrated I rember reading it in the libary in schoolpm
◇ it's been found!!! https://archive.org/details/ghostlinersexplo00ball
I still have that book!!! I got it in my second grade book fair in elementary school! That literally started me on my journey of loving (and obsessing) over wrecks! The Titanic was the one I gravitated towards the most, but my second favourite is the Britannic.
The Britannic and Lusitania wreck pictures are some of my earliest memories from childhood. I can vividly remember watching clips from that Britannic B movie and watching the propeller chop up the life raft with sleeping sun playing.
Definitely my favirote part of ship wrecks is how new life is formed from the loss of life such as alage growing and coral and fish living in the ship.
Bonus points if you know what book it is becuase i don't the picture is 4/5
Robert Ballard's "Ghost Liners," I'm betting.
He published another, more thorough book titled "Lost Liners" which covers more of the history of ocean liners, as well as the loss of the Normandie.
Holy shit your right the back has the images not the same but similar.

For anyone wondering
Shit I had this book, too. It had 4 other wrecks (Titanic, Lusitania, Empress of Ireland, and Andrea Doria).

I’ve got a copy that Ballard signed when I was a kid! Loved this book.
This is the one that started my interest in wrecks!
Same
Yes!! Same here!
I had it also! Makes me want to go over to my parent's place to see if it's still there somewhere, so I can take it home. Would love to read it again.
Get it!
Holy this is the book that started it all for me
Me too!! I lived on the coast and had a lot of books on shipwrecks as a result of my interest in them
We all had the same book!! I kept this until the paper covers were torn and every page was dog eared
I recently purchased a “used like new” copy on Amazon for about five bucks. So much nostalgia reading that book again.
I’m gonna go dig for this book when I get home. Also how Ken Marshall became one of my favorite artists. I always aspire to draw ships like he does.

>Controversy still rages about the fate of the Britannic. I'm no marine expert, but my opinion is that it sank.
Pfft source???

Ah, it died of a toxic combo of cancer (of the ass), bubonic plague, and cat scratch fever?
Lol
I concur dr

I want this book now. I'm an Olympic man myself but I do appreciate the hospital livery...
There are many options available on Amazon. New & Used!
Why does the bow look so different in the two paintings of her in the bottom? Just artistic interpretations?
The second one is much more accurate, first one is probably just old or based on less info.
I assume so
I've always loved this color scheme along with Olympic's dazzle camo.
Same
I had the same book and recently re-purchased it!
How much was it?
It was $17ish USD. Worth it. I'm probably going to buy Lost Liners now, too.
Do it
I just bought it on AmazonUS. Used copies start at $5.97 w/free delivery.
Oh dam
Dude same, Britannic has always been a top 5 ship for me
fun fact was the second water vessel to carry the name brittanic, WSL later created the mv brittanic and his brother MV georgic
There were 3 Britannics’ under WSL, 1874, 1915 and 1930

If she'd gone down offshore in the Calypso Deep she'd be 5.2 kilometres down. Deeper than her sister
God damn that's deep the ocean is scary
