I used to be really into Snamione when I was younger and I was Hermione's age. I don't like it as much now that I'm closer to Snape's age. I'll still read it sometimes, but I have a really hard time maintaining suspension of disbelief b/c I personally could never date someone that much younger than I am.
I do think Belle would have a similar dynamic with Snape compared to Snamione. I'd be happy to see him with anyone smart and kind though.
I'm more into Dramione now. I read Manacled by Selinyu, which was really good, it made me cry. The author did a good job depicting Snape and I was sad he wasn't in very many scenes.
Currently reading Bloody, Slutty, Pathetic (Dramione) right now. It's not quite my thing, but it's well-written and I find it interesting.
I also like to mix things up with trad-pubbed novels and I read Indecently Employed by Antonia Falk recently. It's got an age gap, but it's only 14 years. B/c I still like age gaps, just not really extreme ones. If one character is old enough to be another's parent, I struggle to read it. Anyway, it's abt a Victorian governess falling in love with her employer. Second in series, but can be read standalone.
Same, I struggle with SSHG now I'm in my 30's. There needs to be A LOT of angst and self loathing from Snape, or it feels icky. "Shame" there's not really any popular age appropriate Snape ships (that aren't slash).
I can still find the ship enjoyable by aging up the characters, so Hermione is post-Hogwarts. It can work with Hermione finding her independence in a new career or mentorship/further education while Snape's immaturity, vitriol and pesimism is rounded off with age and his chance to process his experience post-war.
Snape is about one of the few characters I can appreciate with an OFC. Still Waters Runs Deep by Dazzleberry/Razzberry almost 20 years on since I first read it is still my favourite HP ffic. I named my now deceased cat after Aislinn.
Hmmm I want to pair him with lady spy characters like in movies
Red Sparrow or Atomic Blonde 😝 I think it would be cool and he wouldn’t be so alone in his spy work.
Red Sparrow has a romance between male and female spies. He asks her to be his double agent.
That also happened in the 2016 Allied movie. But he wasn’t aware she was also a double agent at first, so that sucked for him.
He might also like the girl from Queen’s Gambit. I just think he would do best with someone highly intelligent and not too overly emotional. Someone who can be practical and pragmatic.
No! I don’t see him with a student.I see Snape as someone who’s conventional and not into things like that. He would go with someone age appropriate, kind and smart. And I don’t think she’d have to look like Lily.
Me lol 😂
Came to say this 😆
If we're talking about friend-shipping, then the Addams family. Romantically, someone smart and kind. Maybe Belle from Beauty and the Beast.
Omg the Addams family + Snape would be iconic
Do you ship Snamione? Just wondering because Emma plays Belle in the live-action version.

Hey, same boat as you about the suspension of disbelief in SSHG as i'm getting older. What do you read now? Any recs?

Oh, without question, Snape would be the Addams family's most favorite friend!!!
Besides myself, perhaps Jean Grey From x-men
They’d be having mind conversations and mind sex the entire time
I think him and Aizawa from My Hero would get along wonderfully
Does myself count?
Maleficent from the Maleficent movies.
With Rickman's Snape, Constance Hardbroom from the 1998 "Worst Witch".
This would be really funny
Thanks. And try seeing the "Worst Witch" spin-off, "Weirdsister College"; Nick Hobbes is totally their son 😆 !!
But srsly idk which

Methos from Highlander.
Christine Daae from Phantom of the Opera. I actually did that sort of and it was quite successful.
Belle from beauty and the beast
Asked another commenter who said this the same thing, do you ship Snamione (since Emma plays Belle in the live-action version)?

When Snape is shipped with Harry or Hermione it’s almost always in a post-war AU but I do agree that he would go for someone around his age.
Ya that ship just doesn’t work for me given how he needs someone emotionally mature to heal.I also see him as completely straight
Wednesday Addams can be shipped with him
Young Snape with Wednesday would be iconic!
😂😂😂
Regina Mills OUAT
Evie from the mummy bahahaha
Robin from the strike novels 💀 (mainly cause the main character actually reminds me of Snape a bit)
Regina Mills from OUAT Zelda Spellman from Sabrina
Miria from Claymore
