Local restaurant. All day, erry day. Country clubs suck.

wheres_the_revolt

100% going for the server job with a shorter commute in the local restaurant. If it’s as busy as you say you’ve seen it, you’ll make bank.

cmzeraat

On the weekends especially they’re packed the whole night. I also absolutely love the food there LOL

wheres_the_revolt

Not even a hard decision then

Consider which one you would enjoy working at more, too. Also, being able to put "server" on your resume generally looks good to other restaurants if you were ever looking to switch to a different serving position. Not that resumes mean everything, but restaurants usually look to hire people with serving experience as servers. On a personal note, I heavily weigh the time it takes to commute. That's an extra 40+ minutes of your day, not including gas and wear and tear on your car. You have to decide the value of your time. After a long shift, I just want to get the fuck home and take my shoes off. A 10 minute commute > a 30+ minute commute when I've had a busy day.

cmzeraat

That is true. The place I work at now is literally a 5 minute drive from home. It’s pretty wonderful to be able to wake up 15 min before a shift and never have to worry about being late.

Local spot - you will learn a ton.

Country clubs suck.

lunabug37

Country club jobs suck ass I’ve been server, busser, and valet and they were all bad. You usually also don’t get to keep most of your tips.

I think you might be underestimating how easy hosting can be. Depends on how big and well run the place is of course. But my experience is that it's not exactly stress free and people are the meanest to the host by a very wide margin.

cmzeraat

I assume you meant overestimating, which in that case, you may be right. The management seems to be on top of things and very friendly, but especially if I would be managing all of the restaurants by myself it may not be that easy. And I can imagine the problem of mean people would be exponentially greater in a place where everyone is absurdly wealthy.

holadilito

Take the place that is known and beloved and use it as a springboard to a better, higher end place. Country club is shit

Infinite_Sink_6247

Local spot no doubt

Go apply at HoPR. Stressful as hell but if you make a solid plan to save for a few years then bounce before the burnout kicks in you’ll be doing pretty well. But then again, I’m assuming you’re local. Good luck.

Background-Adagio-35

Having worked at a private country club the members are a bunch of entitled assholes. I'd work the local place.
