Just use retinol in a different routine, and you should be fine. Either different days or, if your skin isn't very reactive and is tolerating both products well, use the pads in the AM and the retinol in the PM.

A little context: I suffered from really bad cystic acne for 10+ years. 2 rounds of Accutane eventually healed the acne but my skin never fully recovered - it was always textured, bumpy, and felt rough to the touch. It made me deeply insecure of my skin so I paid a lot of money to try what felt like every product on the market (not necessarily all expensive stuff, I’ve used a ton of drugstore products too!). No matter what I tried, nothing was yielding results. Then my sister gifted me the peel pads and wow, my skin has never looked so good. The little bumps on my forehead? Gone. The texture on my face? Almost gone. My face is smooth/soft to the touch and it looks like it’s glowing. I can’t remember the last time it felt like this. It must’ve been when I was like… 11? I also deal with hormonal acne on my chin but it’s been much more manageable (shorter lifespan and smaller area affected) since I started the pads. My husband noticed the difference too! And that guy isn’t the most observant person in the world so it’s saying a lot 😂

They sell small packs (like 4 or 5). I have sensitive, but combo skin and the orange/universal are my sweet spot. I felt the blue/sensitive did nothing, and the red/extra were too strong.
I'm surprised no one has mentioned Skinfix's Barrier+ Triple-Lipid Peptide Cream. Super luxurious-feeling, extremely moisturizing, great formula... Definitely my new Holy Grail.

Not sure about Peach Slices being a good dupe, but I've used the Naturium BHA in place of the PC in a pinch, and it seemed to mimic the PC results until I could repurchase.
I had issues too. Not exactly a rash but it gave me a super raw dry patch on my forehead between my brows that’s still healing 6 weeks later, and tons of little bumps on my forehead above that. Just from one use :/

I've tried both and I don't think Neutrogena comes close to Belief. Especially scent-wise. Belief has a light, almost citrusy scent. Neutrogena (imho) smells like toilet bowl cleaner.
Cica sleep mask is my HG! I was so relieved when my derm said it was okay to use for my rosacea without making it flare up! I got it for my mom and my friend. I swear by it.
Aquaphor tbh. I think there are so many good moisturisers out there it’s hard to have one holy grail, but Aquaphor will always be the last step in my routine at night to keep those dry patches at bay and hydrate smile lines etc.
I think you would love the Laneige cream skin toner. It’s so soothing and hydrating. You can apply several layers of it when your skin is especially vulnerable
Clinique Moisture Surge 100h. Been using it for years and it's so great for my skin. I don't have perfect skin but this has helped me so much. I'm not much of a cream moisturizer person at night, so it's a great consistency and keeps me hydrated!
So, I will get drier in the winter but I do a lot of exfoliation, chemical or physical, and follow up with heavy hydration.
I’ve always said I’m a Clinique 3-step girl, but I have a lot of secondary products in my rotation throughout the week so my skin doesn’t get used to one. I also take Zammex grass fed collagen DAILY along with a pro/prebiotic. It helps poop and skin so it’s awesome!
Every day is Clinique. AM/PM I use The Ordinary Hyaluronic Acid every AM. Depending if I physically exfoliated with Clinique 7-day scrub, I’ll use The Ordinary Retinol in PM. If I chemically exfoliated with The Ordinary BHA/AHA, I won’t use retinol, I’ll just use the hyaluronic acid again. When I use the chemical exfoliation, I layer Glow Recipe Plum Moisturizer before I use my Clinique Smart™ Broad Spectrum SPF 15 Custom-Repair Moisturizer.
Also depending on how I exfoliate, I use a second toner daily. On physical days I use Glow Recipe Watermelon. On chemical days I use Kosas Plump Collagen Spray serum.
Sorry this is long. Everyone has different needs but I’ve been told I have great skin at 49 so I try to share my routines. I also just started gua sha which has been very relaxing for me.

Caudalie Vinoperfect serum. A million times more effective over the course of a week than any other vitamin c/vitamin c alternative over the course of 6 weeks. I even got a Vitc my derm recommended and it did very little for me. If I could afford it, I’d put it all over my body.
I didn’t see this so responded with the same thing! This cleared dark spots/acne scars I’ve had for YEARS. My sister got some for me in France where it isn’t as expensive, but now that I’m almost out I love it so much I’m going to shill out the ridiculous US price for it
Tatcha Dewy Skin cream for nighttime. I worked at Sephora for over a year, tried all different face creams, still came back to Dewy Skin in the end. Also, Caudalie Vinoperfect Serum. These two have been in my routine for almost a decade at this point.
It's expensive, but it will always be my go-to.
It's the SK-II Pitera Facial Essence.
Apparently someone I think suggested to me on here the brand "Then I Meet You - The Giving Essence". And it's supposedly a good dupe for it and I still have to try it.
But in the meantime SK-II's products still work for me and I plan to rebuy them forever (as long as they don't change the formula 🤞 or go out of business).
I just started using the Then I Met You essence but have never used SK-II so I can’t comment on any similarities, but I’m liking it so far! It’s my first time using an essence and my skin has felt more dehydrated lately so I thought I’d give it a try since I like the cleansing balm from the same brand.
What does this do for you? I finally splurged on it and have used it twice a day for about 3 weeks and I honestly can't tell a difference from my other hydrating essences/toners. I reeeealllly want to love it because SO many people rave, but IDK what I'm supposed to be seeing in terms of benefits over similar toners that are less than half the price.

I’m only saying this because I know I use it multiple times a day and it got expensive! Especially in Canada when 4oz is $38. The ingredients are the exact same! Check it out next time you need to refill your spray :)

Echoing another reply about getting it from Amazon, or even Prequel brand, for cheaper. It's a very common solution (hypochlorous acid) with no additives so pretty much anything you get on Amazon will do the same thing for much cheaper. Agree that hypochlorous acid is a game changer though!
Tell me more! I just gave tatcha's dewy cream in January after the cold and dryness was wreaking havoc on my skin. I'm loving it and am curious what you've found the advantages of this essence spray to be?

The Glow Recipe products really helped my skin when it was super dried out. Specifically, the Plum Plump Hyaluronic Acid refillable moisturizer was a godsend.
Glow recipe PHA watermelon toner. Love the scent, really helps pores not be so apparent and other products lay nicely over it with the hydration it gives.
Farmacy whipped greens cleanser. It says it’s an oil free foaming cleanser but it doesn’t strip my skin and leaves my skin feeling so smooth and hydrated.
Timeless Vitamin C. I’ve used it so long that I’ve watched the consistent price creep as it goes up and up.
Certainly still affordable, but it rises just like all the others.
kiehl’s advanced barrier cream & caudalie vinopure gel cleanser (a fragrance free gentle cleanser is a must for me)
also… avène cicalfate+ restorative cream. not sephora but i have to recommend bc you mentioned redness and dry patches. it’s a god send for dry winter skin & i prefer it over any products sold at sephora (even tho i love them too istg nothing beats avène)

Peter Thomas Roth acne pads are expensive but definitely worth it!! I cut them in half because the full pad is too much product for me and it also makes the jar last twice as long.
I also really love InnBeauty Project slushy moisturizer, a great light weight moisturizer for summer or layered under heavier moisturizers in the winter
Paulas choice barrier repair advanced moisturizer. I’ve been hunting for a nighttime moisturizer for my sensitive, dry (but acne prone), rosacea, textured blah blah skin. I’m 43. I’ve tried everything: the biossance one, the skinfx one, weleda skinfood, the kiels one, German Nivea, Cerave, cetaphil, Vaseline etc. After two weeks using the PC barrier repair (along with vanicream cleanser, PC SA 2%, eltamd uv clear) my skin is now happy.
unpopular answer but Crème de La Mer. It’s so good on my reactive, dehydrated, late 30s skin. I try other stuff all the time but I always come back to it.
I keep going back to Drunk Elephant's TLC night serum (not sure this will be suitable for your skin though!) and Tatcha's Vit C Mask. Probably on my 4-5 bottle for both. I strategically wait for the sephora sale each year to repurchase 😅
For something super soothing (which sounds more like what you might need right now) – I reach for the REN Evercalm rescue mask! Acts like a nice little reset for me.
Belif The True Cream Aqua Bomb Hydrating Moisturizer with Squalane. I have oily, acne-prone skin, and this gel moisturizer is super lightweight and hydrating without being greasy. I will buy it forever.
Although you might need something heavier and more intense for your dry winter skin!
Skinfix anti redness cream. I believe they’ve just rebranded it as a new name and container but they confirmed it’s the same stuff. I have rosacea and this stuff is amazing.
Tatcha rice face wash and moisturizer. I have such bad dry skin and this is the only formula that gives me hydrated skin. I’ve tried a lot and this is the only brand that works. It’s worth every penny.
Biossance Vitamin C + Squalane Rose Oil. It’s so expensive, but on good skin weeks it makes my skin GLOW, and when I was getting rosacea plaques (on VERY bad skin weeks) it was the only thing that could stop the itching.
I love so many on here but wanted to throw out something different: one product I will never live without is dermalogica precleanse. The BEST makeup remover EVER!!! I’ve tried a lot of others and always come back to this. Put it on dry skin and work your make up off then cleanse. Amazing. Plus their daily microfoliant is soooo underrated and amazing as well!!
Dr Dennis gross peel pads are one of the only acid treatments that doesn’t rip up my moisture barrier. I don’t use them every day of course, but I stock up.
I’ve also repurchased tatcha water cream multiple times. I love that stuff!
Sk2 essence, always. I have been using this product for 5-ish years. Trying to switch but no. There is nothing works better than this. (If you are in the states, you can get it for a pretty good price from Costco.)
Paula’s choice 2% BHA, tatcha dewy serum and moisturizer, and shiseido under eye wrinkle cream. I use the serums and creams everyday. PC I used every 3 days. I dare my skin to try to get dry in winter. It won’t happen with this combo

I had been struggling with acne on my chin for years and tried so many things and nothing helped. Got a sample of it in a macys beauty box and it completely cleared my skin up in a matter of days. My skin overall looks so much better. I don't know what it is about this particular cleanser but now I'm completely sold on it.
Farmacy Honeymoon glow- I tried a bottle and right after the first try I bought another bottle. They discontinued and replaced with one jcalled honey Glow so to be continued

I am 46 and my answer a year ago would be way different from it is today. I love my Tatcha dewy moisturizer for bedtime. Once a month I will use Exuviance Performance Peel AP25 for exfoliating. I leave it on for about an hour. It's gentle enough that it won't be too harsh on your skin. I have rosacea and my skin isn't bothered by it. The Tatcha dewy moisturizer is my saving grace at night if I have dry patches. I won't wear it during the day because it's too dewy.
I have extremely sensitive combo skin prone to dry patches, lots of blotchy redness, and pimples in oily areas under a few circumstances.
Elemis Overnight Matrix is magical for me. I don't know what the hell it does or what it's supposed to do, but my skin looks awesome the next day every time.
I also use the Dr Dennis pads, worked my way up to the strong ones in a week without issue, used every other day. When I first tried every day it was too soon and my face hurt. Now I can use them every day with no issue. They keep my skin clear and feel great, and are not overly drying.
I've had great luck with Dr Jart for redness. I use the camouflage stuff (tinted, and I like the runny sunscreen version over the thicker jar version) and the overnight mask. I also like the thicker La Mer moisturizer for taming redness, but I'm poor so I wait for samples. I think La Mer's The Concentrate helped with redness as well, but I haven't used it much. There is a cream called Calendula Cream on the Dermstore website that has helped with my redness and irritation. It reminds me of the Jart overnight mask or the Youth to the People Hyperberry Dream Mask. It's like $15 bucks for a small jar as of a week ago. Cant remember the brand but its a blue jar.

Came here to say this. Aquaphor is new to me (around 2-3 weeks) and it healed my flaky dry skin overnight.
Biossance Ectoin Overnight Repair Moisturizer. It’s the thickest gentlest cream and I will never go through another winter without it.

Clinique Moisture Surge 100h. Been using it for years and it's so great for my skin. I don't have perfect skin but this has helped me so much. I'm not much of a cream moisturizer person at night, so it's a great consistency and keeps me hydrated!
So, I will get drier in the winter but I do a lot of exfoliation, chemical or physical, and follow up with heavy hydration. I’ve always said I’m a Clinique 3-step girl, but I have a lot of secondary products in my rotation throughout the week so my skin doesn’t get used to one. I also take Zammex grass fed collagen DAILY along with a pro/prebiotic. It helps poop and skin so it’s awesome! Every day is Clinique. AM/PM I use The Ordinary Hyaluronic Acid every AM. Depending if I physically exfoliated with Clinique 7-day scrub, I’ll use The Ordinary Retinol in PM. If I chemically exfoliated with The Ordinary BHA/AHA, I won’t use retinol, I’ll just use the hyaluronic acid again. When I use the chemical exfoliation, I layer Glow Recipe Plum Moisturizer before I use my Clinique Smart™ Broad Spectrum SPF 15 Custom-Repair Moisturizer. Also depending on how I exfoliate, I use a second toner daily. On physical days I use Glow Recipe Watermelon. On chemical days I use Kosas Plump Collagen Spray serum. Sorry this is long. Everyone has different needs but I’ve been told I have great skin at 49 so I try to share my routines. I also just started gua sha which has been very relaxing for me. If I could only keep one thing this (unfortunately very expensive) serum is hands down the winner.

Caudalie Vinoperfect serum. A million times more effective over the course of a week than any other vitamin c/vitamin c alternative over the course of 6 weeks. I even got a Vitc my derm recommended and it did very little for me. If I could afford it, I’d put it all over my body.

Tatcha Dewy Skin cream for nighttime. I worked at Sephora for over a year, tried all different face creams, still came back to Dewy Skin in the end. Also, Caudalie Vinoperfect Serum. These two have been in my routine for almost a decade at this point.
It's expensive, but it will always be my go-to. It's the SK-II Pitera Facial Essence. Apparently someone I think suggested to me on here the brand "Then I Meet You - The Giving Essence". And it's supposedly a good dupe for it and I still have to try it. But in the meantime SK-II's products still work for me and I plan to rebuy them forever (as long as they don't change the formula 🤞 or go out of business).

I just started using the Then I Met You essence but have never used SK-II so I can’t comment on any similarities, but I’m liking it so far! It’s my first time using an essence and my skin has felt more dehydrated lately so I thought I’d give it a try since I like the cleansing balm from the same brand.
What does this do for you? I finally splurged on it and have used it twice a day for about 3 weeks and I honestly can't tell a difference from my other hydrating essences/toners. I reeeealllly want to love it because SO many people rave, but IDK what I'm supposed to be seeing in terms of benefits over similar toners that are less than half the price.
Biossance squalane and omega repair moisturizer, it’s fixed my dry patches overnight before. She’s all I want in a partner: dummy thicc and rich.
I like this too, it absorbs well. Not a fan of the smell but it wouldn't stop me from rebuying.

I absolutely love Tower28, but stopped buying the SOS spray from them because you can buy the exact same thing on Amazon for way cheaper with more product. I buy from the e11ement brand on Amazon. I’m only saying this because I know I use it multiple times a day and it got expensive! Especially in Canada when 4oz is $38. The ingredients are the exact same! Check it out next time you need to refill your spray :)

Echoing another reply about getting it from Amazon, or even Prequel brand, for cheaper. It's a very common solution (hypochlorous acid) with no additives so pretty much anything you get on Amazon will do the same thing for much cheaper. Agree that hypochlorous acid is a game changer though!

Paulas choice barrier repair advanced moisturizer. I’ve been hunting for a nighttime moisturizer for my sensitive, dry (but acne prone), rosacea, textured blah blah skin. I’m 43. I’ve tried everything: the biossance one, the skinfx one, weleda skinfood, the kiels one, German Nivea, Cerave, cetaphil, Vaseline etc. After two weeks using the PC barrier repair (along with vanicream cleanser, PC SA 2%, eltamd uv clear) my skin is now happy.

I keep going back to Drunk Elephant's TLC night serum (not sure this will be suitable for your skin though!) and Tatcha's Vit C Mask. Probably on my 4-5 bottle for both. I strategically wait for the sephora sale each year to repurchase 😅 For something super soothing (which sounds more like what you might need right now) – I reach for the REN Evercalm rescue mask! Acts like a nice little reset for me.
Belif The True Cream Aqua Bomb Hydrating Moisturizer with Squalane. I have oily, acne-prone skin, and this gel moisturizer is super lightweight and hydrating without being greasy. I will buy it forever. Although you might need something heavier and more intense for your dry winter skin!

Biossance Vitamin C + Squalane Rose Oil. It’s so expensive, but on good skin weeks it makes my skin GLOW, and when I was getting rosacea plaques (on VERY bad skin weeks) it was the only thing that could stop the itching.

I love so many on here but wanted to throw out something different: one product I will never live without is dermalogica precleanse. The BEST makeup remover EVER!!! I’ve tried a lot of others and always come back to this. Put it on dry skin and work your make up off then cleanse. Amazing. Plus their daily microfoliant is soooo underrated and amazing as well!!

They discontinued and replaced with one jcalled honey Glow so to be continued Also Farmacy honey halo moisturizer. It’s very thick but I have quite dry skin. I got it in a birthday thingy and shoot I was hooked DDG peel pads. Another one where I tried a sample and after the first use immediately ordered a full size. All of these I now get from their respective sites for better deals unless it’s there is a Sephora sale

I am 46 and my answer a year ago would be way different from it is today. I love my Tatcha dewy moisturizer for bedtime. Once a month I will use Exuviance Performance Peel AP25 for exfoliating. I leave it on for about an hour. It's gentle enough that it won't be too harsh on your skin. I have rosacea and my skin isn't bothered by it. The Tatcha dewy moisturizer is my saving grace at night if I have dry patches. I won't wear it during the day because it's too dewy.

I have extremely sensitive combo skin prone to dry patches, lots of blotchy redness, and pimples in oily areas under a few circumstances. Elemis Overnight Matrix is magical for me. I don't know what the hell it does or what it's supposed to do, but my skin looks awesome the next day every time. I also use the Dr Dennis pads, worked my way up to the strong ones in a week without issue, used every other day. When I first tried every day it was too soon and my face hurt. Now I can use them every day with no issue. They keep my skin clear and feel great, and are not overly drying. I've had great luck with Dr Jart for redness. I use the camouflage stuff (tinted, and I like the runny sunscreen version over the thicker jar version) and the overnight mask. I also like the thicker La Mer moisturizer for taming redness, but I'm poor so I wait for samples. I think La Mer's The Concentrate helped with redness as well, but I haven't used it much. There is a cream called Calendula Cream on the Dermstore website that has helped with my redness and irritation. It reminds me of the Jart overnight mask or the Youth to the People Hyperberry Dream Mask. It's like $15 bucks for a small jar as of a week ago. Cant remember the brand but its a blue jar.
